Kayakers on the Wenatchee River in Leavenworth, Washington
Once it gets to Leavenworth, the Wenatchee River widens and slows a bit. These kayakers put their boats in the water right as the river gets to the town, and float through town and on downstream.

Wenatchee River, Tumwater Canyon, waterfall at disused hydroelectric dam
Just downstream from the calm water, the Wenatchee River flows over what used to be a hydroelectric dam, and is now a wide waterfall. June is still the Spring Flood, as you can see from the video. This is the Danger referred to in the previous video.

Deceptively calm Wenatchee River
The Wenatchee River goes through Tumwater Canyon in Central Washington State, before it reaches the town of Leavenworth, Washington's Bavarian Village. This is the river, directly behind an obstruction-see the next video. Note the sign that appears at the end of this short video.

The creek flows through some seaweed "islands" on its way to Puget Sound. Birds drink from the fresh-water creek-we saw a Bald Eagle.

Snoqualmie Falls, Washington, Spring Flood, May 30, 2021
We visited Snoqualmie Falls over the weekend, and it was in full "spring flood" mode, with six separate smaller falls visible. See the awesome power of Nature. The information board states that 11,000 cubic feet per minute of water goes over the falls in spring flood.

Hard Rain a-Gonna Fall
We had a downpour this morning, replenishing the garden which was pretty dry. I loved the way the raindrops splashed into the bird-bath. And my internal soundtrack was Bob Dylan.

Fairy Falls, at Tumwater Falls Park in Olympia, Washington
The tiny waterfall down the green wall of rock, at the side of the Deschutes River. I thought I might see a fairy, showering behind one of the tiny cascades. The noise is made by Tumwater Falls behind me. Check out RushBabe49.com for a new post on the park.

RushBabe's Rant #2, Where are plaintiff's lawyers when we need them? Sue the teachers unions!
Teachers Unions are ruining children's education in America, by refusing to return to classrooms. Parents should be banding together and suing the living daylights out of the Unions, for caring more about themselves than about the children they are supposed to be teaching.

Tumwater Falls, on the Deschutes River in Olympia, Washington
The Tumwater Falls, Upper and Middle cascades. In the background is the old Olympia Brewery, whose motto was "It's the Water". Well, it is certainly the water here. Along the left side are 100-year-old fish ladders for the Chinook Salmon to use on their way upstream to spawn.

This is America! Needles Highway, Custer State Park South Dakota #2
I recorded this from the front seat of our car, on the Needles Highway in South Dakota. There are new "needles" around every corner, and the view is pretty spectacular. One more benefit of a Ricochet membership-you get to meet great people and see new places with them.

In September, 2020, we drove to and through South Dakota for a Ricochet Meetup. We spent the afternoon driving through Custer State Park, and around the Needles. The highway gives great views of the Needles, and if you look in the distance you can see Mount Rushmore.

RushBabe's Rant Number One-Being Nagged about Covid rules
In the first RushBabe's Rant, I detail some situations that drive me crazy, being continually nagged and reminded about silly Covid precautions. I am sick to death of being reminded to wear a mask (after I've been fully vaccinated), social distance, etc.

Hillsdale College Choir & Orchestra, Hallelujah Chorus Oct. 2019
In October of 2019, Hillsdale College in Michigan celebrated its 175th Anniversary, and dedicated its new Christ Chapel. The orchestra gave a concert in the new chapel, and the college had a surprise for the audience of alumni and supporters. Choir members were in the audience, and at the end of the concert, they trooped up and gave us a rousing rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah. Not a dry eye in the chapel. Hubby and I are endowing a music scholarship at Hillsdale, and this reminded us why.

Kitty's Christmas treats
Kikyo, the black cat, has a toy box. If she wants to play with a toy, she has to fish it out. For Christmas 2020, I dropped a bunch of treats into her box, and she managed to get them all out in just over one minute.

Snowbirds in the Backyard, Feb. 2021
One snowy day in February, with my iPhone, I took video of the birds at our suet feeder. You can see Black-capped Chickadees, Common Bushtits, Juncos, a Bewick's Wren, and a Varied Thrush (on the fence). At one point, there were three different species of birds on the feeder at one time!
