Corcovado [Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars] Song Facts
Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars) is a Bossa Nova classic written in 1960 by Antônio Carlos Jobim. The most-popular version of Corcovado [Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars] is the 1963 collaboration with singer/guitarist Joao Gilberto and American jazz musician Stan Getz on the album Getz/Gilberto. Jobim played the piano on Corcovado [Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars] while Gilberto's then-wife Astrud Gilberto performed the vocals in English while he sang in Portuguese.

The Portuguese title {'Corcovado'} refers to the Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro. The first popular English cover of "Quiet Nights" (with new lyrics by Buddy Kaye ) was recorded by Tony Bennet in 1963. Numerous English cover recordings then followed sometimes credited to Lees and/or Kaye and Lees, including the Andy Williams recording of the song with English lyrics.
Both Frank Sinatra and Astrud GIlberto would later perform 'Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars' (an all English Lyrics version of 'Corcovado')

The 1964 single version of "The Girl from Ipanema", taken from the 1963 album, omitted the Portuguese lyrics sung by João Gilberto, and established Astrud Gilberto as a Bossa Nova singer.
'Corcovado' {'Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars'} Lyrics
Quiet nights of quiet stars
Quiet chords from my guitar
Floating on the silence
That surrounds us
Quiet thoughts and quiet dreams
Quiet walks by quiet streams
And a window that looks out
On Corcovado
Oh, how lovely
Um cantinho, um violão
Esse amor, uma canção
Pra fazer feliz
A quem se ama
Muita calma pra pensar
E ter tempo pra sonhar
Da janela vê-se o Corcovado
O Redentor, que lindo
Quero a vida sempre assim
Com você perto de mim
Até o apagar da velha chama
E eu, que era triste
Descrente desse mundo
Ao encontrar você eu conheci
O que é felicidade, meu amor
Quero a vida sempre assim
Com você perto de mim
Até o apagar da velha chama
E eu, que era triste
Descrente desse mundo
Ao encontrar você eu conheci
O que é a felicidade, meu amor

There really isn’t any one particular playing style or technique required in order to classify someone as a guitarist. For example, Andres Segovia, the Beatles, and Carlos Santana are all considered legendary performing guitarists, but each has his own particular style or technique (fingerstyle, strumming, and soloing) for playing. Every guitarist will have their own personal preferences when it comes to what style of music they would initially like to learn. Some may have a more-specific goal (singer/songwriter, soloist, etc.), while others may prefer a more general or overall approach to learning various playing styles and techniques. The Paluzzi Guitar series of books and videos are designed with a ‘pick and choose’ topic format (songwriting, soloing, etc.) so that once the Guitar Basics are completed, the guitarist can decide to focus on whatever topic he or she wishes study.

Beatles Blackbird Songfacts
It has been said the guitar accompaniment for Blackbird was inspired by Bach's Bourrée in E minor for lute. This is often played on classical guitar, an instrument Paul McCartney and George Harrison had tried to learn when they were kids. McCartney told Mojo magazine October 2008: "We had the first four bars (of the Bourrée in E minor) and that was as far as my imagination went. I think George had it down for a few more bars and then he crapped out. So I made up the next few bars, and (sings his four-note variation Bach's theme) it became the basis of 'Blackbird.'"
Was it Bouree in E Minor? Or possibly this that inspired McCartney to write Blackbird:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow_BbVxdFSs
On the original recording of the Beatles' Blackbird, only three sounds were recorded: Paul's voice, his Martin D-28 acoustic guitar, and a tapping that keeps time on the left channel.
This tapping sound on Blackbird by the Beatles is a bit of a mystery, although in the Beatles Anthology video McCartney appears to be making the sound with his foot. Some sources have claimed it is a metronome.
The birds were dubbed in later using sound effects from the collection at Abbey Road, where Blackbird was originally recorded.

Dust in the Wind Lyrics
I close my eyes
Only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Now, don't hang on
Nothin' lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
(All we are is dust in the wind)
Dust in the wind
(Everything is dust in the wind)
Everything is dust in the wind
Dust in the Wind Song Facts
Kansas guitarist Kerry Livgren wrote Dust in the Wind after reading a book of Native American poetry. The line that caught his attention was, "For all we are is dust in the wind."
Kerry Livgren devised what would be the guitar line for 'Dust in the Wind' as a finger exercise for learning fingerpicking. His wife, Vicci, heard what he was doing, remarked that the melody was nice, and encouraged him to write lyrics for it. Livgren was unsure whether his fellow band members would like it, since it was a departure from their signature style.
After Kansas had rehearsed all the songs intended for the band's recording sessions of June and July 1976, Livgren played 'Dust in the Wind' for his bandmates, who after a moment's "stunned silence." Kansas guitarist Rich Williams would recall that Livgren played his bandmates "a real rough recording of him playing ['Dust in the Wind'] on an old reel to reel. [He] just kind of mumbled the lyrics, [but] even [hearing it] in that bare form...we said: 'That's our next single.'
Band [Kansas] Reactions to Dust in the Wind Success
Steve Walsh (1979): "I thought [Dust in the Wind] would be a hit from the very first. It [defies] the basic formulas that most [rock] groups try to follow. They don't realize that it's not the formula [that matters], it's the song."

Unchained Melody was written in1955 with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. Alex North wrote the music to Unchained Melody as a theme for the little-known 1955 prison film titled 'Unchained'.
Unchained Melody has since become one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century. Over 1,500 recordings of 'Unchained Melody' have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages.
The best-known version of 'Unchained Melody 'was recorded by the duo The Righteous Brothers in 1965. The lead vocal was performed solo by Bobby Hatfield. According to his singing partner Bill Medley, they had agreed to do one solo piece each per album. Both wanted to sing 'Unchained Melody' for their fourth album, but Hatfield won the coin toss. Hatfield changed the melody in the final verse and many subsequent covers of Unchained Melody are based on the Righteous Brothers version. Of the hundreds of recordings made, the Righteous Brothers' 1965 version became the standard after its release.

There really isn’t any one particular playing style or technique required in order to classify someone as a guitarist. For example, Andres Segovia, The Beatles, and Carlos Santana are all considered legendary performing guitarists, but each has their own particular style or technique (fingerstyle, strumming, and soloing) for playing. The Paluzzi Guitar series of books and videos are designed with a ‘pick and choose’ topic format (songwriting, soloing, etc.) so that once the Guitar Basics are completed, the guitarist can decide to focus on whatever topic they wish to study.

Oh, my love, my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me
Lonely rivers flow
To the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea, yeah
Lonely rivers sigh
"Wait for me, wait for me"
I'll be coming home, wait for me
Oh, my love, my darling
I've hungered, hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love

How to Play and Solo with the Minor Scale on Guitar
The standard (Natural) Minor scale box pattern for guitar covers a span of only three frets. In order to
play the Minor scale on guitar along other fret positions, other box patterns need to be played along with new soloing
techniques.
How to Play and Solo with the Major Scale on Guitar
The standard Major scale box pattern for guitar covers a span of only two frets. In order to
play the Major scale on guitar along other fret positions, other box patterns need to be played along with new soloing
techniques.
Relative Scales Guitar Lesson
The first step is to know how relative scales work on guitar, which is being able to harmonize relative
major and minor scales together without sounding out of key when learning to solo on guitar. This relative scales guitar lesson will show how to solo with the major and minor scales on guitar.
Relative Scales on Guitar
On guitar, the relative major scale box pattern will always be located three frets higher from the minor
scale box pattern. For example, the relative major scale to ‘A’ Minor (5th fret position)
would be ‘C’ Major (8th fret position - three frets higher). For this initial guitar lesson on relative scales, this general explanation
will suffice as other lessons will go into more detail on how to harmonize relative scales on guitar.
Connected Guitar Scale Box Patterns
The ‘A’ Minor and ‘C’ Major scale box patterns on guitar actually ‘fit’ together, with the bottom of the ‘A’ Minor
box pattern being identical to the top of the ‘C’ Major scale box pattern along the eighth fret position.
These two guitar scale box patterns combine to form one larger connected box pattern that covers a
span of five frets. This connected box pattern on guitar can be played in any key.
How to Solo with Relative Scales on Guitar
The first step with harmonizing relative scales on guitar is to simply shift or alternate between major and minor scale
riffs within the connected box pattern. Before soloing and harmonizing relative scales on guitar with a backing rhythm track, review playing major and minor scale guitar riffs from
previous lessons. Focus on alternating between the major and minor guitar riffs from each box pattern.
The primary objective with this first guitar lesson on relative scales is to simply hear how Major scale riffs will harmonize with relative Minor scale riffs. The reason why these relative scales
harmonize together in a guitar solo is that both the ‘A’ Minor and ‘C’ Major scales share the same seven notes (‘A’,
‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘E’, ‘F’, & ‘G’). Though there are more specific details to learn later about phrasing with
relative scales, simply hearing how relative scales harmonize on guitar is a major step in
understanding more about improvisation, because what was once initially understood as a 'pure' ‘C’ Major
scale riff can now be also be viewed as a relative major scale riff that harmonizes with the ‘A’ Minor scale.
Relative Keys on Guitar
The same concept that applies to relative scales on guitar will also apply to relative keys on guitar.
All of the ‘A’ Minor and ‘C’ Major riffs that harmonize with the chords in
the Key of ‘A’ Minor will also harmonize with chords from the Key of ‘C’ Major.

How to Improvise Guitar Lesson
With this foundation, you can take the next step with this how to improvise guitar lesson by creating your own riffs by applying variations to minor scale Spanish riffs that you already know. Applying variations will be yet another step closer to learning how to solo and improvise guitar riffs and solos, because variations are the result of spontaneous and creative thinking - where new riffs are composed in the moment as opposed to playing guitar riffs that are already known beforehand.
How to Improvise with Minor Scale Flamenco Spanish Riffs on Guitar
Improvising is often referred to as jamming, where guitar riffs and solos are created spontaneously, usually with a backing rhythm. Though jamming and improvising are essentially intended to be without too many boundaries, musicians usually agree on a key to harmonize with beforehand. Before applying variations with the minor scale, a guitarist needs to know how to play various minor scale guitar riffs in any key.
Minor Scale Variations on Guitar
Trying out variations with several minor scale riffs over a backing rhythm is highly recommended. Though totally unplanned, some of the most famous guitar solos feature variations, where guitarists have created classic flamenco guitar riffs on the spot while improvising or jamming along to a backing rhythm. Many improvised riffs have become signature riffs, where a guitarist creates a riff that resonates enough that the riff is often repeated or referred to during a solo or on other songs as well.

Minor Scales Guitar Lesson
With this lesson we are going to take the first step in being able to mix and combine different scales while soloing. From a creative perspective, this will be the first step in being able to shift or change moods within the same guitar solo. From a music theory perspective, this involves learning how to improvise with different scales without sounding out of key, and the two scales we will focus on in this lesson will be the Pentatonic Minor/Blues scale and the Natural Minor Scale.
The Natural Minor Scale for Guitar
With its sad and serious tone, the Natural Minor scale has been the primary scale used in many famous
guitar solos. Many times, however, other scales are combined with or harmonized with the Natural Minor scale
in order to add more color or variation to the overall mood of a solo. One of the scales most-often
harmonized with the Natural Minor scale is the Pentatonic Minor scale. This Minor Scale guitar lesson will show
how to harmonize or ‘mix’ both scales together within the same key.
Establish a Foundation
Before starting this scale harmonization guitar lesson, you should already have a foundation of guitar scale basics with both the Blues scale and the Minor scale. This includes knowing various Blues and Flamenco riffs on guitar, knowing various guitar soloing techniques such as bending, vibrato, hammering, and phrasing, and having some experience with jamming, soloing, and harmonizing riffs with backing rhythms. Being able to recognize the essential differences in tone between each scale will make
the transition to combining and harmonizing both scales less challenging.
Relative Scales
Both the Natural Minor and Pentatonic Minor scales share the same description of ‘Minor’ because they
are relative scales that share similar notes.
How to Harmonize Guitar Scales/Different Moods
Aside from the more-standard or ‘strict’ Blues and
Flamenco-style progressions, most songs will feature
some type of harmonization between various scales.
After becoming familiar with alternating between Blues
and Minor scale riffs, the next step is to hear
how both scales harmonize together when played over
a backing rhythm. Though practicing with a second
rhythm guitarist works best, practicing along with prerecorded
songs or rhythm tracks will also work. Even on pre-recorded tracks where a pre-existing
solo can also be heard, it still helps to ‘jam-along’
with these recordings as certain riffs will tend to
‘land’ or harmonize with those heard on the recording.
How to Change Moods in a Guitar Solo
With more knowledge of musical theory, the more a guitarist can mold or construct a solo to whatever mood
is desired. Though the previous steps focus on alternating between Blues and Minor scale riffs, the guitarist
has the option to emphasize one scale over another depending on the desired mood. For example, one
soloist may prefer to play 75 percent Blues and 25 percent Minor scale while jamming ,
while another may prefer more of an emphasis with the Minor scale.
The Natural Minor and Pentatonic Minor scales will always harmonize within the same key, however, certain
styles of music require that a specific format be followed. For example, playing a Flamenco-style riff over
a twelve-bar Blues shuffle simply will not ‘fit’ within the Blues format, nor would playing Blues riffs over
a traditional flamenco-style rhythm.

Eagles Hotel California Lyrics
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
"This could be heaven or this could be hell"
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)
You can find it here
Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget
So I called up the Captain
"Please bring me my wine."
He said, "We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine."
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis
Mirrors on the ceiling
The pink champagne on ice
And she said "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
And in the master's chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
"Relax," said the night man
"We are programmed to receive
You can check-out any time you like
But you can never leave!"

The Happy Mood of the Major Scale for Guitar
The Major scale can be described as having a pleasant or ‘happy’ tone or mood in its overall sound.
Rather than the traditional method of learning the Major scale in its chronological order (‘Do, re, mi’...
etc.), this lesson will instead focus more on capturing the intended mood of the scale. This will be done
by learning to play various riffs within a specific box pattern which also ‘fits’ well with the fretting hand.
Major Scale Box Pattern for Guitar
A box pattern for guitar is essentially an 'aerial view’
of the major scale going across the six strings. There
are several box patterns to play the Major scale on guitar, however
this box pattern in this lesson will be referred the standard major
scale box pattern.
Associating Moods with Scales
One advantage to learning the Major scale box pattern on guitar is that the intended ‘happy’ mood of the
major scale can clearly be heard, especially when compared to learning more standard major scale exercises
such as the ‘Do, Re, Mi...’ approach. Associating moods with scales develops the ability to learn songs
and melodies ‘by ear’. In time, by simply recognizing the mood of a guitar solo as being either happy
or pleasant, a guitarist can associate that mood with the Major scale and immediately begin to ‘jam, solo,
or improvise along with the backing rhythm without having to rely on any sort of written notation.
The Major scale box pattern for guitar is moveable, meaning the same pattern
can be played along any fret position or key on guitar. All that needs
to be known is the letter name of the bottom (sixth) string that begins
the box pattern to determine the key. For example, the Major scale
box pattern played along the fifth fret is in the Key of ‘A’ Major
because the first note played (sixth string/fifth fret) is an ‘A’ note.
Shifting the same major scale box pattern up one fret results in the
Key of ‘Bb’ Major being played.
Major Scale Riffs for Guitar Lesson
A riff can be described as a sort of ‘musical sentence’, and in order to improvise with the Major scale, a
musical vocabulary needs to be developed by copying and memorizing collection of standard riffs. There
are many riffs that have been passed on from generation to generation of guitarists, and some of these
standard Major scale riffs will be presented in this guitar lesson for beginners.
‘The Major Scale Riff’ is named so specifically for this lesson, but this guitar riff has been around for years and
variations of it are heard in many classic songs. 'The Major Scale Riff' is played in the Key of ‘A’ Major,
using notes from the ‘A’ Major scale box pattern. Various techniques are applied in this major scale guitar riff, including
hammering, pulling-off, and vibrato techniques.

Sunshine of Your Love by Cream
Written in 1967, ‘Sunshine of Your Love’ would combine elements of traditional Blues with a new ‘heavy’
sound that would later set the foundation for hard rock music. Sunshine of Your Love is a unique musical collaboration,
featuring the classic opening Blues riff written by bassist/singer Jack Bruce, African-style drum rhythms by
Ginger Baker, a hard-rock chorus by Eric Clapton, and lyrics written by Pete Brown.
Cream Sunshine of Your Love Guitar Lesson for Beginners
This easy beginner lesson will show how to play the intro riff to Sunshine of Your Love and all the rhythm guitar parts.
Sunshine of Your Love Intro Riff
The opening intro guitar riff to Sunshine of Your Love is based on the ‘D’ Blues scale. Note to addition of the passing tone or ‘blue note’ (fifth
string/eleventh fret) as well as the phrasing (the Sunshine of Your Love riff begins and ends on a ‘D’ root note).
Strum Sunshine of Your Love Rhythm Guitar Chords
The verse chord progression to Sunshine of Your Love ‘locks-in’ with the lyrics. For example, each of the four syllables of ‘...getting-
near-dawn...’ will ‘lock-in’ or ‘land’ with each of the four chords (‘D7-D7-C7-D7') played.
The chord progression of Sunshine of Your Love shifts from a standard 12-Bar Blues format of the Verse to a more-‘heavy’
rock sound of the Chorus that features the use of power chords.
One way to capture the rhythm for this
repeated ‘A5' strum is to emulate the rhythm of a galloping horse (‘dun - da-da-dun - da-da-dun... etc.’).
Sunshine of Your Love Guitar Tone
While in Cream, Eric Clapton became known for his unique guitar tone, which many considered a ‘thick’ or warm
sound. Replicating the guitar tone to Sunshine of Your Love is a combination of equipment, settings, and technique. With its solid-wood body,
the Gibson SG provides better sustain, especially when played through a Marshall tube amp with distortion.
The tone controls are turned all the way down, and the pickup setting should be set at middle position with the
neck pickup set at full volume. Regardless of all the tone setting options, it is the guitarists’ finger strength and
technique that ultimately determines the overall quality of tone and sustain of Sunshine of Your Love.
Sunshine of Your Love Guitar Solo
The guitar solo to Sunshine of Your Love by Cream is played primarily in the Key of ‘D’ Blues, and follows a twelve-bar
format with the tab showing two bars per line. Occasional riffs are added from the ‘D’ Pentatonic Major
scale. The Sunshine of Your Love guitar solo features Eric Clapton’s famous ‘Fool’ guitar, which was a 1964 Gibson SG named as a tribute
to the artist who painted the body of the guitar with a psychedelic look.

How to Improvise Blues Riffs for Beginners
With this foundation, you can take the next step into creating your own riffs by applying variations to riffs that you already know. Applying variations will be yet another step closer to learning how to improvise Blues solos and riffs on guitar, because variations are the result of spontaneous and creative thinking - where new riffs are composed in the moment as opposed to playing riffs that are already known beforehand.
Improvising is often referred to as jamming, where blues riffs and solos are created spontaneously, usually with a backing rhythm. Thought jamming and improvising are essentially intended to be without too many boundaries, musicians usually agree on a key to harmonize with beforehand. Before applying variations, a guitarist needs to know how to play various blues riffs in any key.
Variations
Trying out variations over a backing rhythm is highly recommended. Though totally unplanned, some of the most famous guitar solos feature variations, where guitarists have created classic guitar riffs on the spot while improvising or jamming along to a backing rhythm. Many improvised riffs have become signature riffs, where a guitarist creates a riff that resonates enough that the riff is often repeated or referred to during a solo or on other songs as well.

Wind Beneath My Wings Acoustic Guitar
This acoustic cover of Wind Beneath My Wings features a fingerstyle guitar arrangement played in the Key of A Major. The guitar is capoed along the second fret position, so all guitar chords are shown relative to capo. This means all chord shapes resemble the Key of 'G' Major (relative to capo).
Wind Beneath My Wings Lyrics
It must have been cold there in my shadow
To never have sunlight on your face
You were content to let me shine, that's your way
You always walked a step behind
So I was the one with all the glory
While you were the one with all the strength
A beautiful face without a name for so long
A beautiful smile to hide the pain
Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
It might have appeared to go unnoticed
But I've got it all here in my heart
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it
I would be nothing without you
Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be
I could fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
'Cause you are the wind beneath my wings

Rather than a finger exercise, or practicing the ‘Do, re, mi’ scale, learning to play the And I Love Her guitar solo is simply more enjoyable and gives an absolute beginner the opportunity to immediately ‘show off’ and perform something they have learned on guitar.

Learn to Play And I Love Her by the Beatles Guitar Lesson
To learn to play the And I Love Her guitar solo, use the thumb to pluck all notes.
The first step in learning to play the And I Love Her guitar solo is to memorize and play the first six notes (section 1) a few times without error. Make sure to use the fourth ‘pinky’ finger to fret the third string/tenth fret, which will help keep the fretting hand steady and in position.
Learning to play section 2 of the And I Love Her guitar solo will then be easy to learn, as section 2 essentially repeats section 1, except that the last note (third string/tenth fret) is deleted.
Section 3 of the Beatles' And I Love Her guitar solo is easier to learn, as it simply repeats section 1!
For added effect, let the last note in each section of the Beatles' And I Love Her guitar solo ring or sustain.
In section 4 of the Beatles' And I Love Her guitar solo, the five-note phrase requires shifting down to the fourth string. Actually reciting the fret numbers aloud while playing (‘10-7... 8-7-5') will help with memorization. In section 6, the final note of this melody features a slide (notated with a ‘/’), which requires the first finger to remain pressed down against the fretboard while simultaneously sliding the finger up to the third fret. Try to end the final slide as close possible to the third fret to avoid sounding an unclear or ‘buzzing’ note.
A common expression used when learning music is that ‘slow is fast’, meaning the primary objective is to play correct notes with clarity, regardless of the speed in which the notes may initially be played. A bad habit is trying to play the Beatles 'And I Love Her' guitar solo too fast, which results in making too many errors and having to ‘stop and start over’ too often. Making playing the correct notes a priority results with less mistakes and ‘start-overs’ when learning to play the guitar solo to 'And I Love Her', which helps in ‘getting’ the overall picture of this easy to learn Beatles song more quickly.
For beginners, the fingertips will initially become sore from fretting. With minimal practice (10-15 minutes per day), callouses will soon develop which will make fretting easy when learning to play the 'And I Love Her' guitar solo by the Beatles.

And I Love Her Guitar Solo - Timing
For an absolute beginner, learning to play the And I Love Her guitar solo is an accomplishment in itself, and learning to play the And I Love Her solo along with a backing rhythm will be yet another great step in progress as it will be an introduction into timing and phrasing by playing along with another guitarist. In this case, the other guitarist will be provided in this lesson with backing tracks, however, the backing rhythm chords are shown in the lesson if you are able to find an experienced guitarist to practice the And I Love Her guitar solo with in person. For many beginners, playing the And I Love Her guitar solo along with a backing rhythm is actually more of a challenge than learning to play the solo itself.
And I Love Her Guitar Lesson for Beginners
This beginners lesson for And I Love shows how to play a basic version of the And I Love Her guitar solo. On the original recording of And I Love Her by the Beatles, there are a few extra slide effects that are not included in this beginners lesson, however, once a beginner learns to play a complete basic version, the additional slides are not too challenging to learn.
Backing Rhythm Guitar - And I Love Her
The rhythm guitar part of And I Love Her used in this lesson for the solo section is a slight variation from the strum pattern used on the original recording by the Beatles. The reason for this is that the rhythm on the original recording of And I Love Her is supported by an additional rhythm section of drums and bass guitar. When playing the And I Love rhythm on guitar unaccompanied, it is necessary to add variations to the strum pattern in order to makeup for the missing drums and bass guitar.

The Pentatonic Major Scale Box Pattern for Guitar
The Pentatonic Major scale can be described as having a country-like mood or tone in its overall sound, but it is versatile enough to be heard in various styles of music ranging from Country, to Blues, to Rock. To solo and improvise with Country and Blues riffs, the first step will be to become familiar with playing the Pentatonic Major scale going across the six strings in a box pattern form.
The primary objective early on is to develop finger strength and flexibility. Not only will playing the Pentatonic Major box pattern be a great exercise for the fingers, the same pattern will actually be used in many classic Country, Blues, and Rock guitar riffs and solos.
Associating Moods With Scales
One advantage to learning the Pentatonic Major scale box pattern is that the intended ‘Country’ mood of the scale can clearly be heard. Associating moods with scales develops the ability to learn songs and melodies
‘by ear’. In time, by simply recognizing the mood of a guitar solo as being Country or Blues-based, a guitarist can associate that mood with the Pentatonic Major scale and immediately begin to ‘jam-along’ or improvise with the track without having to rely on any sort of written notation.
Country Blues Riffs
A riff can be described as a sort of ‘musical sentence’, and in order to improvise with Country and Blues Riffs, a musical vocabulary needs to be developed by copying and memorizing collection of standard Pentatonic Major scale riffs. There are many Country and Blues riffs that have been passed on from generation to generation of guitarists, and some of these standard Pentatonic Major scale riffs will be presented in the following sections.
‘The' Pentatonic Major Riff is named so specifically for this lesson, but this Country Blues riff has been around for years and variations of it are heard in many classic songs. 'The' Pentatonic Major riff is played in the Key of ‘G’ Major, using notes from the ‘G’ Pentatonic Major box pattern. This Country Blues riff features both hammering and bending techniques.
Phrasing/Root Notes
After learning a few standard Country Blues riffs, the next step will be to focus on phrasing these riffs. If a Country Blues riff can be compared to a ‘musical sentence’, then phrasing is how ‘punctuation’ can be applied to a guitar solo. Without phrasing, a guitar solo will sound rambling and disorganized in very much the same way as a ‘run on sentence’ does with language. This lesson will focus on the foundation of Country Blues phrasing technique: the root note.
Country Blues Riffs Lesson Summary
So far, the foundation for building a music vocabulary has been set by learning some standard riffs (‘musical sentences’), knowing how to phrase
these riffs (‘musical punctuation’), and then combining riffs (‘musical paragraphs’).

Crazy Train Intro Easy Guitar Lesson for Beginners
For beginners, to learn how to play the Crazy Train guitar intro may seem at first to be a great challenge. Even though the Crazy Train guitar intro is played fast, there are only 16 total notes to memorize, which makes this an easy Ozzy Osbourne song to learn on guitar. This Paluzzi Guitar lesson for beginners video will show how to play the Crazy Train guitar intro by Ozzy Osbourne with a step by step approach.
How to Learn to Play the Crazy Train Intro on Guitar
The quickest way for beginners to learn to play the Crazy Train intro riffs on guitar is to focus more on playing correct notes (with the correct fingers) with clarity instead of playing with speed. For beginners, 'slow is fast', meaning you'll learn how to play the Crazy Train intro riffs quicker if you initially focus on playing correct notes with clarity. Trying to play too fast result with more mistakes and having to constantly restart playing a riff to make it correct.
Play the Crazy Train Guitar Intro with Correct Fingers
By using the correct fingers to fret, learning how to play Crazy Train on guitar will be less-challenging. For beginners, it is recommended to 'align and assign' fingers to frets, starting with the first finger aligned along the second fret position and ending with the fourth 'pinky' finger aligned along the fifth fret position.

Paluzzi Guitar
The objective of the Paluzzi Guitar video series is to help establish a foundation of guitar fundamentals by applying various playing techniques (rhythm, fingerstyle, and soloing) to various styles of music. The more playing styles and techniques a guitarist can learn, the more diverse and self-sufficient a guitarist will become. A self-sufficient guitarist can then teach themselves, communicate with other musicians, and even write their own music once a solid foundation of fundamentals is established.
The Creative Guitarist Method Series was written and designed by Kevin J. Paluzzi of Paluzzi Guitar Instruction in San Diego, CA. For more information on private lessons and books, go to:

There really isn’t any one particular playing style or technique required in order to classify someone as a guitarist. For example, Andres Segovia, The Beatles, and Carlos Santana are all considered legendary performing guitarists, but each has their own particular style or technique (fingerstyle, strumming, and soloing) for playing. Every guitarist will have their own personal preferences when it comes to what style of music they would initially like to learn. The Paluzzi Guitar series of books and videos are designed with a ‘pick and choose’ topic format (songwriting, soloing, etc.) so that once the Guitar Basics are completed, the guitarist can decide to focus on whatever topic they wish to study.

David Bowie Space Oddity Song Facts
Inspired by Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Space Oddity was written and recorded by English singer-songwriter David Bowie. Space Oddity was first released as a single in 1969. Space Oddity would later appear as the opening track Bowie's second studio album simply titled David Bowie.
The album version of Space Oddity was recorded in June 1969. Bowie sang lead and harmony vocals and played acoustic guitar and the Stylophone. The session musicians were Rick Wakeman (later of Yes fame) on Mellotron, Mick Wayne on guitar, Herbie Flowers on bass, and Terry Cox on drums. The string section on the album version of Space Oddity was arranged by Paul Buckmaster.
Space Oddity has since become one of David Bowie's signature songs. Bowie plays a twelve-string acoustic guitar for Space Oddity, but six string acoustic will work fine as a substitute.

Space Oddity [Major Tom] Lyrics
Ground Control to Major Tom
Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on
Ground Control to Major Tom (ten, nine, eight, seven, six)
Commencing countdown, engines on (five, four, three)
Check ignition and may God's love be with you (two, one, liftoff)
This is Ground Control to Major Tom
You've really made the grade
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare
"This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today
For here
Am I sitting in a tin can
Far above the world
Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do
Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles
I'm feeling very still
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much she knows
Ground Control to Major Tom
Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you "Here am I floating 'round my tin can
Far above the moon
Planet Earth is blue
