MZTV 1298: IMPORTANT: Is "The Salvation of All" The Gospel?
To those of you who have patiently and kindly waited for me to expound upon what has turned out to be a surprising statement to some, namely, that one who has grasped personal justification by faith does not necessarily enter quickly into the expanded, mature knowledge that the justification of the cross is race-wide—here is the thorough, Scriptural explanation of my position.
To those who have not so patiently taken swipes at me without a thorough understanding of my position, well, that comes with the territory. I thought that maybe I’d have earned the benefit of the doubt after thirty years of solid teaching but, well, surprises happen. But hey—I love you all the same.
A special thanks to Rob Wile for making a beautiful video urging the saints to hear me out. Thank you, Rob. You are a mature soldier for Christ.
Rob, I know that the evil teaching of eternal torment has indeed tormented you personally for years, and that you and others justifiably suffer a hair-trigger, PTSD reaction to even the suggestion that the evil doctrine may not disappear instantly in the life of one who at lasts grasps personal justification by faith. But I know that you will hear me out on this, and that the ghosts of the past will give way to an even greater expectation in the future.
In the meantime, here’s a sensible, Scriptural dose of the present.

MZTV 1294: Can People Who Believe in Eternal Torment Be in the Body of Christ?
Part 1: Some saints are shocked to learn that I think eternal torment believers can be in the body of Christ. There can't be many (if any), but it's theoretically possible. Here's my reasoning.
Part 2: A.E. Knoch's commentary on Galatians 5:19 is cowardly and evasive. Here's the verse, here's the comment, and here's why I criticize one of the greatest scholars in modern times.

MZTV 1295: What is the Body of Christ?
The purpose of the body of Christ includes a glory and honor beyond any of our wildest imaginations. Yet Paul gives us a hint of it in Ephesians, chapter one.
Here is my best explanation of what, really, lies beyond any human ability to properly describe.

MZTV 1291: Here's a Handful of Dirty Sins That Will Screw Up an Allotment
Here comes Galatians chapter 5 again, and some dark, dirty corners of humanity that we have somehow come to take lightly. None of these things screw up anyone's salvation, for we are saved apart from our acts. But an allotment WITHIN that salvation is another story.
And speaking of "story," you're going to get one today that I don't think you've ever heard before.

MZTV 1286: Appearing Before the Dais of Christ; Relax, It'll Be a Relief
King James calls it the "judgment seat of Christ," which is a terrible translation because judgment is as far from this picture as the east is from the west. The Concordant Version translates the Greek word "bema" as "dais." A dais is a raised platform. Think of where the Olympians stand when receiving their medals.
Whatever good we have done in this life will be rewarded. Our sufferings and losses will be recompensed. Anything that hampered us in this life–whether a physical or moral infirmity—we will be relieved of.
When we each appear here, WE ARE ALREADY SAVED; WE ARE ALREADY MEMBERS OF THE BODY OF CHRIST; WE ARE ALREADY IMMORTAL; WE ALREADY COULD NOT BE LOVED MORE BY GOD AND CHRIST.
So what is there to fear? Nothing. It's all good.

MZTV 1288: The Sneaky Way to Give Up Grievous Sins
In 1 Corinthians chapter 6, Paul is not telling anyone to stop doing anything. This is not the law of Moses dressed up in a sheep suit. Rather, Paul is setting forth an allotment in the kingdom of God and Christ above and beyond “mere” membership in the body of Christ. It is the contemplation of such superior glory that, along with grace, has the power to keep one from continuing in the most grievous sins known to humanity.

MZTV 1284: Maybe an Allotment in the Kingdom of God is Not For You
Believers saturated in grace can potentially become offended by Paul telling them that there's something they can miss out on if they keep persisting in grievous sins. "But aren't I saved by grace?" Of course you are. But something more than salvation is at stake here. If Paul's exhortations (and that's all they are) send you off on an anxiety attack or bring steam out of your ears, then the allotment of the kingdom may not be for you. Just revel in being chosen as a member of Christ's body and forget the rest.

MZTV 1287: The Future Glory of the Worst Bunch of Believers Ever
The Corinthians were the laughing stock of all of Paul's ecclesias. But in the twelfth chapter of his first letter to them, he explains the principle of giving more exceeding honor to those members of the body whom we would deem to be inferior. This can only mean that Paul would display the Corinthians—the worlds most corrupted convocation of sinning sots ever—as "Exhibit A" in his just judgments against the all the wisdoms of the world.

MZTV 1283: The Allotment of the Kingdom CANNOT Be General Salvation
Paul is telling the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 6 that there is a way for them to miss out on "the allotment of God's kingdom." Some of us simply refuse to believe that a believer could miss out on ANYTHING, and so the hypothesis is forwarded that the career sinners listed in verses 9-10 can't be members of the body of Christ; these must be unbelievers. While it's true that unbelievers would ALSO miss out on this allotment, Paul is most definitely not talking about unbelievers in this passage, for he writes in the previous chapter:
"I write to you in the epistle not to be commingling with paramours.
And undoubtedly it is not as to the paramours of this world, or the greedy and extortionate, or idolaters, else, consequently, you ought to come out of the world. Yet now I write to you not to be commingling with anyone named a brother, if he should be a paramour, or greedy, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. With such a one you are not even to be eating (1 Corinthians 5:9-11)
The second theory forwarded then is that, well, since Paul is talking about believers, "the allotment of God's kingdom" must be general membership in the body of Christ since every believer DOES have that. If Paul is talking about believers (so the theory goes), then these sins do not describe the Corinthians as they ARE, but rather as they WERE.
The problem with THIS is that, if these sins are describing the Corinthians as they WERE, and if this allotment is general membership in the body of Christ, we must conclude that no one engaged in these sins can enjoy general membership in the body of Christ. We know THAT is not true because, again, of verse 11, where Paul assures the Corinthians that, indeed, those among them engaged in these sins were, WHILE THEY WERE SINNING, justified. Besides, we know that Christ justifies sinners, not saints.
The unavoidable conclusion is that Paul is warning BELIEVERS who are CURRENTLY (still) engaged in these sins even after being justified, that they will miss out on something ABOVE AND BEYOND general salvation. We know now that this allotment MUST be above and beyond general salvation because, again, these sins keep no one from regular salvation seeing that—I'm happy to repeat it—Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15).
The hard thing for people to swallow is that justified people still sin (it is true; we are RECKONED righteous by God but not yet CONSTITUTED righteous) and that even justified members of the Christ's body can miss out on something. And yet this truth is corroborated in 2 Timothy 2:12, where Paul writes, "If we are enduring, we shall be reigning together also." The "we" assures us that it is members of the body of Christ in view here, and the "if" assures us that even justified body of Christ members can miss out on reigning if they are not enduring.
I didn't write this stuff. Paul did. I'm just explaining it and, along with you, struggling to deal with it.
So what is it that members of Christ's body CAN miss out on by being engaged in gross misconduct AS A VOCATION? More on THAT question next week.

MZTV 1290: The Most Unorthodox Method in the World for Dealing With the Flesh
Today I begin analyzing Galatians 5:19-21 and its greater context, looking into what Paul calls "the works of the flesh" (Galatians 5:19). For here are even more sins that, chronically practiced, keep one from enjoying "the allotment of the kingdom of God." This is not general salvation, of course—that is, membership in the body of Christ—but a high calling WITHIN that membership.
On the way to verse 19, I highlight Galatians 5:16 which says, "Walk in spirit, and you should under no circumstances be consummating the lust of the flesh." If you listen to Christianity (I don't recommend it) they think "walking in spirit" means that you monitor your flesh all day long, spending stressful hours trying like hell not to sin. This is the opposite of walking in spirit, as you are about to discover. When you see what walking in the spirit truly IS, you'll feel a relief the likes of which you've never felt.

MZTV 1282: A Tale of Unjust Saints
The latest consideration is whether or not members of the body of Christ can lose out on a certain degree of supernal glory because of chronically practicing some particular heinous sin as a vocation. We have been so soaked in the grace belonging to salvation and membership in the body of Christ that we forget there is something above and beyond "mere" salvation in the body of Christ, presented by God as something extra to be had by those who avoid some of the most serious and deleterious misses.

MZTV 1281: Longing For a Better Resurrection? Here's How it Works
I understand the bristling in the body of Christ when told by Paul that, just as in Israel, there is something they can do to obtain a better resurrection, and something they can do to lose it. This is not salvation, mind you, but a better resurrection after death.
People think that nothing ought to be gained by being a good person, and nothing ought to be lost by being a bad person. This is a rather strange and calloused opinion, if you ask me, but there it is. It's the result of being so awash in grace for so long that one simply turns a blind eye to Scriptural passages—passages in PAUL, mind you—that speak of seemly and unseemly behavior and of something besides "mere" eonian life. The reaction is either, 1) "How dare Paul bring up the topic of my behavior," or 2) "Paul is not really bringing up the topic of my behavior, it only SEEMS like he is."
The remedy to either 1) the complete ignoring of these passages or 2) the desperate twisting of them to make them say something other than what they are saying, is to appreciate the difference between 1) membership in the body of Christ and, 2) an exceeding glory and position WITHIN the body of Christ.

It is vital to grasp even the finer points of the absolute and relative perspectives lest we become ineffective not only in heralding the Word, but in our everyday interactions with others.

MZTV 1278: Want Something More Than Salvation?
I notice the bit of controversy I stirred up with my video about screwing up one's allotment. Because we are chosen before the disruption of the world and saved by complete and total grace, we can sometimes slip into the mistaken thinking that a) we don't sin anymore, b) there's no such thing as sin, and c) justified people can't sin. Even if a justified person does still believe in sin, such a person may think that it doesn't matter whether he or she sins or not.
I see this thinking creeping in again in the body of Christ. It's not that it's creeping in, it's just that it has been dormant and I made a video that inspired its expression.
I used to think along this line myself, so please, do not be overly alarmed. It is tempting to think that, because one is justified, then sin just doesn't matter and, really, how dare anyone talk about sin at all and, hey, not sure why the apostle Paul is talking about it, he must be stuck in the old mindset or something.
The key problem here is a mixing, in one's mind, of the absolute vs. the relative perspectives. Man, if I had a nickel for every time someone in the body of Christ said, as a way of handling a sticky situation, "Yeah, but God planned it this way." Of COURSE He planned it this way. But do you think the guy who Paul caught screwing his stepmother said to Paul, "Yeah, but God planned it this way," and got away with it? Do you really think that Paul could be tricked by an illicit hijacking of the absolute viewpoint?
Or how about this? The guy says to Paul, "Hey, man. I'm justified." Do you think the King of Justification (Paul) would bite that hook?
MANY of your comments in the video in question told me that I need to do a couple shows on this issue. And I will. I do not tackle it in THIS show because I made this show right after I made the other one and so, at the time I made today's show I was unaware of the "Yeah, but all is of God" issue and the "How dare you talk about sin with justified people" issue. I am out of town at the moment. But next week I'll make a couple helpful videos on this topic that will straighten out the whole matter. Just wanted to drop you this line to let you know I'm on it.
Grace and peace,
