Doug Talks About: 2 Generations, 2 Perspectives on health - Doug is joined by his son My son, Evan and I have been discussing how generational health perspectives seem to apply to our family. He asked me if his health and his sons health might be affected by my DNA. Scientists now know that our DNA rarely dictate our children’s health problems, and we will discuss this. At my age, I MUST concern myself with staying healthy, or begin visiting doctor after doctor. In 1957 a John’s Hopkins medical school textbook on Dermatology spoke of skin fungal infections that were confused for cancers or abnormal tissue growths (neoplasms). This year alone, over 200,000 new cases of melanoma skin cancer will be diagnosed in America. Additionally, every hour in America about 205 cases of Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC), (about 1,800,000 cases) will be diagnosed. Doug Talks About: A discovery in the 1970's - skin fungi and serious diseases SKIN IN THE GAME--In 1986, while living in Los Angeles, a Dallas, TX physician challenged my hypothesis that skin problems were, in fact, often caused by yeast in the gut. He was one of very few physicians on a national medical board specializing in psoriasis. He came to LA to speak with me, and later invited me to his office in a large Dallas hospital to see if my antifungal hypothesis could help some of his psoriasis patients. I came in a week per month and within 6 months, he asked me to relocate to TX with my family and work with him. What we saw was truly unbelievable and soon he believed that many cases of psoriasis were linked with gut yeast overgrowth. A newer psoriasis medication is now on the market and in some patients, it does seem to control their symptoms, but at a cost of $100,000 annually and a risk of terrible side effects, including suicide it seems to me that only doctors and patients who were unfamiliar with my work decades ago might opt for this expensive, injectable option. Doug Asks: Why the crickets when a 50-year old epidemic has killed millions? Over 1,000,000 Americans have died of COVID during the past 4-years. Only recently have our media outlets calmed their pandemic reporting and our government allowed life to return to a form of normalcy. Yet during that same 4-year period, over 2,000,000 Americans have died of another disease, and no one seems to be talking about it. 70 more Americans will die of this disease-one per minute. This pandemic is not new. It has grown to mammoth proportions in the last 50 years and tens of millions of Americans have died. One in two of us will eventually get cancer, and medical research is spending billions of dollars looking for new cancer approaches. Sadly, the funds go towards new drugs, or new lab tests, or surgical mechanical robots. Doug Talks About: An unknown cause of serious fungal infections Yesterday, you learned that it is probable that infections run in pairs (co-infections); to have a bacterial and a fungal infection together is likely quite common, but a catalyst seems to be required to make a single bacterial infection become a fungal co-infection. As one paper (*) stated, “co-infections might occur in humans after they have been treated with antibiotics.” Based on this, today we will discuss a cause of fungal infections that the medical community is likely unaware of, the overuse of antibiotics.
