IHN Virtual Open House Nov 2020 Preventive Health Care | Optimal Health through our Cellular Matrix
With Antonina Bureacenco BA, CNP, ROHP
The biochemical and biomechanical, protective and organizational properties of the cellular matrix in a given tissue can vary tremendously from one tissue to another. Healthy cells form tissues, tissues form organs, organs form systems like your endocrine, neurological, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune systems and then systems form the body organisms. In this lecture, you will learn how “dis-ease” originates at the cellular level and not at the organ or system level.
Join this lecture to learn how proper nutrition acts as the building blocks, the scaffolding or the matrix of the body, which is comprised of 243 different types of cells. In this talk, we will also uncover what causes these cells to malfunction and what affect the factors of disease processes. When massive amounts of cells malfunction, you malfunction as a whole. Join Antonina Bureacenco, Certified Nutritional and Orthomolecular Practitioner to explore what cellular malfunctioning or Cellular Functional Disorders that are repackaged into 10,000+ diagnosis’ are caused by and what every cell needs to live and function properly.

Supplementation for Stress, Anxiety & Sleep | Webinar October 28 2020
On Wednesday, October 28, 2021 IHN held a 1-hour webinar excerpt from their Supplementation in Clinical Practice Continuing Education course. Baljinder Chhoker took the confusion out of choosing supplements—providing insightful and practical information by comparing the key supplements available for stress, anxiety and sleep. All people handle stress differently, some tense up, while others are able to maintain an easygoing demeanour. For those who find themselves about to crumble under the pressure of stress--losing their focus and clarity--their daily life gets severely impacted. You will learn how to safely and effectively recommend these supplements to improve your own health and that of your clients.
The discussion includes exploring the pathology and stats of different issues surrounding sleep, stress and anxiety that will be seen in practice as well as how to do a comparative of the products, including Genestra, CanPrev, Dr. Reckeweg, and others, and why one would be a better choice than the other, for the same condition. Herbals, homeopathics and nutraceuticals are reviewed.

Leaky Gut & Autoimmune Disease Understanding The Root Causes (Public Webinar) Aug 20 2020
On Thursday, August 20 at 7:00 PM ET IHN hosted a 1-hour webinar, where Brett Hawes shared the root causes that drive leaky gut and autoimmune disease. Autoimmune disease is a collective term that includes over 120 known health conditions. While specific autoimmune diseases differ from one another, they all involve multiple symptoms orbiting around common root causes. Doctors usually rely on a handful of standard drug therapies geared toward symptom management with little focus on getting to the root cause. One of the main root causes of autoimmune disease is leaky gut. The presentation explained what leaky gut actually is, accurate detection methods, what causes it and how it is involved with autoimmune disease. Targeted dietary, lifestyle and supplement interventions that heal the gut, normalize the immune response and drastically reduce flare-ups was taught.

5 Root Causes of Autoimmune Disease | Clinical Insights (Practitioner Webinar) Aug 19 2020
On Wednesday August 19 at 7:00 PM ET IHN hosted a 90 minute webinar, exclusively for a peer to peer discussion. Brett Hawes shared the five main root causes that drive all autoimmune disease. Autoimmune disease is a collective term that includes over 120 different diseases. Due to the chronic and complex nature, autoimmune disease presents unique challenges for clinicians – detecting root causes, identifying a therapeutic starting point, and developing a structured health road map being the most common. Clients are often burnt out and frustrated by the time they see a holistic practitioner. This is because standard treatment focuses on core areas like pain and inflammation management, steroid therapy and immunosuppressants, with little regard for root cause resolution. Brett discussed the five main root causes that drive all autoimmune diseases and to break the cycle to drastically reduce symptoms and flare ups, make significant inroads into managing and reversing autoimmune disease holistically and naturally. Brett shared his unique approach based on his “perfect storm” framework, teaching practitioners what core areas to home in on to get positive clinical outcomes.

IHN Toronto Virtual Open House June 2020 | Comparative Diets: Detoxification & Cleansing Diets
On Saturday June 6th, 2020, IHN hosted our Toronto Virtual Open House with Certified Nutritional Practitioner Candace Bell, BA, CNP!
Most people treat their cars better than their bodies. When unhealthful diets and lifestyle practices leave one feeling run down, and without the counteractive supportive measures to bring one back into balance, the situation can become increasingly dire as environmental toxins and chemicals in everyday products are added to the picture.
Detoxification is a process that your body is continually performing; it is not a special state that we switch on with certain protocols alone. There are ways that we can support the body in its everyday detoxification processes, and additional steps we can take to encourage further cleansing.
In this presentation the following was discussed:
- What symptoms can be signs of a need for further detoxification
- How detoxification works: which organs are involved, what roles they each play, and how they do it
- How to support individual detoxification organs
- How you can practically support the detoxification of your body as a whole
- About herbs, foods, supplements, and practices that are especially useful for detoxification
- What order to practice the different stages of your detoxification in for efficacy and safety
This information is important for anyone wishing to improve their overall health or simply to maintain their state of well being in a world increasingly full of chemicals and stressors which are challenging to our bodies.

Best known for its effects on sleep, melatonin is involved in much more. Described by Descartes as the “seat of the soul”, the pineal gland produces melatonin in response to nerve impulses from the optic tract via the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). This small hormone is mighty – not only is it key in circadian rhythm, it also affects mood, fertility and immunity; in addition melatonin is a powerful antioxidant that can cross the blood-brain barrier and has neuroprotective effects.

Understanding Genetics | Webinar Mar 10 2020
On Tuesday, March 10 at 7:00 PM EST IHN held a 1-hour webinar with Dr. Rahul Kushwah discussing how genetics can be utilized to offer personalized approaches to improve one’s health and potentially reduce the risk of developing chronic metabolic disorders. Our genetic makeup not only impacts our risk for developing diseases, but also our risk for nutritional deficiencies, food intolerances, how we respond to physical activities, detoxification pathways, weight loss, hormonal metabolism, and a host of other factors. As such, dietary and lifestyle changes need to be catered based on individual DNA for maximum efficacy.
