Flight To Flying T HD At 4X
I found the editing program I had been using and it now has some added features. I saved it in High-definition after speeding it up 4X so the drone appears to be flying at up to 90 mph while the traffic on Highway 95 is seen as running up to 220 mph. sometimes bumper to bumper.

Flint Buddy Goes For A Run
Heelers require several hours of vigorous exercise daily. If you don't keep them physically and mentally occupied, they will create their own fun and it is usually destructive fun.

Testing Percussion Caps
Though dropping the loading lever is common with this model, I tyoically haven't had a problem. Perhaps I am loading it heavier. I had to empty the cylinder before I could load with my homemade percussion caps. These caps are punched out of soda can aluminum. The caps primed with cap gun roll caps were a failure. Caps primed with 'Prime All' are much better but I have a problem seeing how much priming compound I'm loading.

1861 Springfield, Whitacre Barrel
The Equipment: 1861 Springfield Manufactured in 1862, Barrel By Whitacre's Machine Shop, Winchester, Va. David Whitacre is not only a machinist, he is an artisan. He provided a 40 1/2" barrel with 1:72 twist and progressive depth rifling. The rear sight is a perfect copy of the original, the front sight is dovetailed and quite tall.
I am no marksman, My eyes aren't as good as when I first had them lasered. It is hard to see where the top of the black front sight is. It needs a bright spot at the top. I knew that it would likely shoot low with that tall sight. I picked my POA at the top of a rectangle 4x4 1/2" rotated 45° and got lucky a couple of times. I think I probably have the windage set pretty close but will need to work with a benchrest and be able to locate the top of the sight to adjust the elevation.
The Load was 60gr 2f Schuetzen Black Powder and 512gr home cast Minié ball lubed with beeswax and lamb tallow. I try to remember to tip the musket to the nipple side when loading. That doesn't always happen and the result may have been a hangfire on the first round. The passage had been cleaned with a pipe cleaner before loading. The 7th round was difficult to ram but for some reason, the 8th wasn't so bad.
I was wrong about round #4, it hit about 4" low and on center.

Caps, Balls And Black Powder
I've been trying to become somewhat self sufficient with Black Powder loads. The .454 and .457 Diameter balls have been a success and I'll soon try the 50 caliber for the Hawken. I'm punching caps from double thickness soda can aluminum and using Prime-All compound. I think my problem with the caps is my aging eyesight, I can't see if I've put enough compound in the caps. My really coarse grind powder worked great in the Hawken and Dragoon. The 3F I made for the 1851 Navy may be closer to 4F. I need to get a different seive and sift out a coarser grind. I'm only using a 12 1/2T press for the corning process. Perhaps I need more pressure.

Mountain Lion Hunting
I saw the cubs go into this patch of cattails and they never came out. After I walked around the swamp, I discovered adult size tracks and it was a heavy cat. A Female can get up to 140 Lbs. A male can get up to 220 Lbs. The cubs were about 16" at the shoulders so probably not more than 50 Lbs. I'll be packing until I'm assured that they have moved on. This is only about 50 yards from my house.

Second Rogue Flight
This video has also been sped up but I don't remember how many times, perhaps 12X. I think the tablet I'm using on the controller won't process data fast enough in cold weather. The aircraft lost it's link with the controller and was out there roaming and hovering on it's own. It had a "return to home" command and zero'd in on the home position but then lost the connection. The forced landing when the battery dropped below safe level was a gentle crash but broke one of the prop guards.

My Musket Caps
I've tried about everything on youtube for making percussion caps for my 1861 Springfield. Roll caps, star punched roll caps, I couldn't find a source for the 8-ring caps, with black powder, with Pyrodex,.... One flash that I would call a success but most attempts plugged my nipple,,, solid! I went back to the Prime-All that I had in stock, capped with a simple disk of cigarette paper. I think I have reliable caps after snapping a few. Out to the range today for a real test.

New trigger trial on 5.56 NATO and 7.62x39. I do need to learn to lean into it but it didn't drive me back 6 FT. There was tailgate time between bursts and I was simply in a different position. It worked best on the 5.56 NATO, I think the 7.62x39 had a problem with BCG hangup.

Flint's Regimen
I usually take him out 1 1/4 miles and he runs home. When he learns that the start point is 1/4 mile from home, I may have to take a different route. He is usually ready for a good nap afterwards. It has been said that I'm creating a monster, what do you think? Does he look like a monster?
