Lytta Magister are desert blister beetles. These two were on Frenchman mountain east of Las Vegas in April.

Desert blister beetles (Lytta Magister) can stay attached for 24 hours while copulating, but that doesn't stop the female from foraging for food. She will need it to lay her eggs. These beetles can fly when alone. They can secrete their blood from a leg joint which can cause skin blisters & make any predator regret eating them. They do not seem afraid of people & are even a little aggressive.

To change the oil on a 1998 Dodge Ram truck, you need a new oil filter & new 10W-30 oil. You need a 5/8 inch socket, ratchet wrench, and an oil filter wrench. You need to remove the 5/8 inch bolt holding the old oil in, which is just behind the front axle in the middle, & let the old oil drain. You need to unscrew & replace the old oil filter, which is closer to the passenger side of the truck, just behind & above the front axle. Once everything is in place underneath the truck, then you pour in the new oil from up above under the hood of the truck. The old oil can be poured into an old clean milk jug or an old empty oil container & taken to an auto parts store to be recycled FOR FREE!

At night the tortoise forages for food among the desert plants & will even eat insects if it can. A wild tortoise should never be touched. This Roadrunner was running around a the parking lot of the Las Vegas Nevada temple. It is often obscured by the plants decorating the border of the parking lot. Roadrunners eat snakes, lizards, bugs, & even smaller birds. This roadrunner was filmed Sunday, July 17, 2022.
