This little burrowing owl was running around a fast food parking lot at night in November in East Las Vegas, seemingly catching bugs to eat. They do eat insects & small rodents. Burrowing owls do live in the southwest deserts of the US but also in many other places. They sleep during the day in underground burrows. They are about 10 inches tall but apparently only weigh around 6 ounces. Owls wings are very quiet. They can move their neck more than 360 degrees but their eyes stay looking forward. They can migrate south for the winter & then back up north for the summer.

This dragonfly was near a pond that had had some mosquito larva swimming in it, September 2022 in east Las Vegas. It is called a flame skimmer dragonfly & is a common dragonfly in western USA. Almost 2 minutes of roadrunner, hummingbird, temple, & Las Vegas skyline, with cicadas buzzing noisily. On Sunday, July 17th, 2022, I was walking home from church past the temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in east Las Vegas, when I saw a roadrunner. I pulled out my phone, & it led to the hummingbird, who let me get really close. It was a rare cloudy day. I am glad the hummingbird did not let the roadrunner get too close...

At the base of Frenchman mountain in East Las Vegas, this hawk glided past me & my dog a few times before I finally thought to take a video as it was gliding away. Looking west you can see downtown Las Vegas, the stratosphere tower, & the Las Vegas strip. In the foreground is the Las Vegas Nevada, temple.

This roadrunner was hanging out with my back yard chickens. It jumped up on the wall as I approached. You can see the pretty colors by its eyes. It seemed interested at the end of the video when I imitated the sound it had made. I edited 3 videos into 1 video for Rumble

I was walking my dog early in the morning in June 2022 near Frenchman mountain in east Las Vegas when I saw a little snake. There are often cute little Western Ground Snakes that are orange & black with slender heads and harmlessly eat bugs. This baby snake was different. I went home to get a box & gloves to maybe catch it and put it further away from civilization. After saying a prayer, God put some sense into me to just leave it alone. You can hear a little rattle at the 22 second mark. Hopefully it will work it’s way up the mountain or maybe a roadrunner or a car will get this dangerous rattlesnake. I think it was warming itself on the warm asphalt. Later, when I was not observing, it disappeared, maybe into the nearby bush. After sunrise I warned the gardener I saw working in this area & texted him the full footage. I edited 2 videos into this one for Rumble.

A roadrunner was hanging out with my chickens this morning. It was in the same place where 5 days ago my dog & I chased a coyote away from the chickens. The roadrunner jumped up on the wall after I got close this morning. It is fast when it wants to be. Right after this video it made a clicking sound that sounded like a Jurassic Park velociraptor. I have seen roadrunners run right past my little baby chicks to grab little ground snakes to eat.
