Funny piglets chasing the farmer
These guys are a hoot! Nothing like the energy of a group of happy, curious piggies!
Farm life is bitter/sweet. These guys are not just animals. They're not just a food source. They're my friends and my responsibility. They're my entertainment and each one brings me so much joy. Nothing shouts "HAPPY!!" like a family of energetic, curious piglets. I never get tired of watching them. Yet, watching them grow is bittersweet because I know their lives will be short. It's sweet because my pigs live life to the fullest. They have their warm hay and manure beds (that they LOVE), their cozy barn, and 24/7 access to the pasture and woods. They run and chase each other in the 3 acre pasture and wallow in the mud. They root, explore, play and rest in the woods. They truly live life to the fullest. Plus, every time a family comes to my farm for their pork needs it means one less customer for the factory farms. That's the sweet side. The bitter is knowing their precious, happy lives are going to be short. The closure of each life is sacred and each piggy is loved to the end. The last thing they know is how delicious the treat tastes. But, it's still bitter. It's still "goodbye". Today I get to enjoy the sweet side of life.

Adorable baby pigs
I just love baby time on the farm. Watching piglets during mealtime is so adorable! Wilbur (my son named her) had a huge litter.
We ended up nursing the two smallest piglets. I'll post a video of them later. Enjoy

Milking cow
Have ever stopped to think about where milk comes from? Most of us know it comes from a cow but have you ever seen what it looks like coming out of the cow? The delicious, creamy, white wonder comes out of a cow's udder, also known as teats This video gives you a front seat view into the source from where the milk flows. A interesting fact. Most calves are pulled away from their mamas at birth or within a few days. Here on our farm we enjoy sharing our beloved Daisy with her calf, or rather, she's shares her milk with us. Having a dairy cow is such a joy. Not only does she feed us but her baby, "Moo", is pure entertainment! Enjoy!

Egg laying
Ever wondered where eggs come from? Most of us know they come from chickens. But have you actually watched it drop out of the chicken? It's amazing to watch. This lovely little hen is very special. She is a Cornish Cross which means she's not an "egg layer" but a "meat bird". Her breed is raised on chicken farms, shoulder to shoulder, in giant chicken houses. Her kind normally doesn't see daylight or grass and they never live long enough to lay an egg. She's built like a tank because she was bred to be a fat roasted chicken. Luckily she was spared that life and now lives free on the farm and repays me with a giant egg almost every day.

Cow drool
Did you know cows produce 10-40 gallons of saliva a day? Our beautiful bovine friend in this video, known Daisy, demonstrates her natural gift of salvation production. Sort of gross and impressive at the same time. Enjoy!
