Let us continue the Journey of Healing and Reconciliation
My dear brothers and sisters, the referendum has happened, and we know the results. I pray that all of us can continue in our commitment to work together on the journey of healing, reconciliation and moving forward. We know that there is much work that needs to be done, so that, all can benefit from the bounty of this amazing land that we live in.
We know that we all need to continue understanding each other's journeys and cultures, we are different, and yet we are one. We are one because of Christ, who calls all into his body, the body of our Church. But we as a Church, of course, want to work with all people of goodwill. So I urge all of us, however we voted whatever our vote was, to continue really listening to each other.
I know I need to continue listening. It never ends. And when we truly listen, we learn more. But we want to see reality as reality is. We want to discern what God is saying to us. And with the grace of God, we want to act. We want to act so that some of the challenges that our First Nations people face, we can deal with together.
But of course, we want to deal with the challenges that face all peoples. We are a multicultural society where we need to be working together, supporting each other for the greater good of all.
God bless you all.

Please pray for the International Conference on Catholic Indigenous Washington D.C., September 18-22
Dear all,
I greet you from outside the White House, here in Washington, D.C., 🏛️
I arrived here last night. I've been in three time zones in a relatively short time, a bit of a challenge to my sleeping habits.
Tomorrow, we start our conference here with our sisters and brothers from New Zealand, Canada and the United States. And, of course, our own people from Australia. 🌏
As we reflect together how our Church can best serve our First Nations people, incorporating their culture into our truly Catholic faith. 🙌🌟
Please pray for us as we gather, as I will continue to pray for you. 🙏
God bless you all.

Exploring the Concept of Wealth: Insights from Both Ends of the Spectrum
In a world where terms like Money, Financial Freedom, Passive Income, and Wealth often capture the imagination of the youth, we decided to delve deeper into these buzzwords. We presented a straightforward yet thought-provoking question to the youth: "How rich is being rich?" Their candid responses provide a glimpse into the aspirations and perceptions of the younger generation.
But that's not all. We also sought the perspective of Bishop Charles on this intriguing matter. His insights lend a unique and insightful dimension to the conversation.
Get ready to journey through two distinct viewpoints as we explore the multifaceted concept of wealth. Tune in to hear directly from the youth and Bishop Charles.

Blake from Alice Springs | CathCroc
🎤 Blake, from Alice Springs 🌄, has posed an intriguing question for Cathcroc: "Why can't Priests get married?" 💍
🐊 In the latest video, Cathcroc delves into this thought-provoking question with the guidance of Bishop!
Bishop imparts his wisdom: Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. Priests, much like Bishop, devote their lives to serving God and His people. They spread love and care to many, akin to the affection of a devoted husband and father. Notably, Jesus Himself chose not to marry, allowing Him to focus on extending His love and care to all.
🙌 Here's the intriguing part: Priests yearn to extend their love to all! Were they to have families, time might become a constraint. Hence, they opt to spread their love and care to all, embracing each like a cherished family member.
📬 If your children have queries about God, the wondrous creation around us, or anything dear to them, email AskCathcroc@gmail.com. Cathcroc, alongside Bishop, eagerly awaits their messages! 🌟
🐊 CathCroc is an animated character brought to life by the Diocese of Darwin, designed to engage children and address their questions through the insights of Bishop Charles Gauci.

Supporting Seafarers
🚢🌊 Supporting Seafarers🙏
The life of a seafarer can be very lonely, spending months on end away from family and friends. Many are often not paid very well and amidst very difficult living conditions. There is a long history of our Church’s outreach to seafarers.
Giovani Maduro, a member of our Catholic Diocese is a part-time Chaplain to the Seafarers Mission. It is noteworthy that well over half of the Seafarers coming to our Darwin port are of Filipino origin, however, our outreach and support is for all. 🌊🙏

Bishop Charles Gauci on Voice to Parliament
🙏🏼My dear brothers, sisters, friends,🙏🏽
‼️ I've spoken before on this very, very important topic of the Voice and the referendum. I am very, very clear, I will never attempt to tell people how to vote. ‼️ People have to make their own decisions on this matter. ✝️ But it is an important matter that needs a lot of reflection. It needs a lot of soul-searching.✝️
It needs a lot of time to look at the principles behind what is happening. 🪃 Our Aboriginal people have been voiceless in many ways. So, some form of the voice of the people being heard to me is very, very important. How that is done is what our society needs to decide. I have been connecting with various bodies and genres of groups to ensure that our people are informed and properly informed.
😶I keep hearing that people are saying, ‘I don't understand’, ‘not enough people are talking to me about this’, ‘I am not sure what to do’. So, please reflect on the whole principles that we have as a community, especially our Church has some very strong principles on social justice, the common good, the dignity of each person, and how we are called to respect everybody and how everybody needs to be able to be heard and valued and given a voice.
👍🏼Please keep looking. Keep sharing. Let's keep informing everybody of how to come together and work as to how best to honour our First Nations who have been on this land for so many, many years. ℹ️ We want to honour everybody in this land. But I do believe we have a special place and a special recognition of people who have been here before anybody else and have been here for 65,000 years or so.
So, let's work together. God bless you all.

What made you want to become Bishop?
🎥 Emmanuel from Alice Springs had an intriguing question: What inspired Bishop Charles to become a bishop?
🎙️ Bishop Charles shared that he initially aspired to be a priest because he believed it was God's calling. However, the Church later asked him to take on the role of a bishop, and he accepted this responsibility upon the request of Pope Francis, feeling that it was also God's will.
💫 While Bishop Charles was content serving as a priest, he recognized that becoming a bishop meant being a leader for fellow priests, similar to the Apostles appointed by Jesus Himself.
🙏 Bishop Charles embraces his role as a bishop with joy and gratitude, acknowledging that he accepted it because he believes God called him to do so.
📩 If your children have any questions about God, the wonders of creation, or anything that holds significance to them, feel free to reach out to Bishop via CathCroc: AskCathCroc@gmail.com and Cathcroc and Bishop will be more than happy to answer questions.

Diocesan Leaders Conference 2023
Our many Diocesan leaders including Catholic Education NT, Catholic Care NT, Vinnies NT, Parishes, Diocesan office, Youth Ministry and others met today, Friday the 14th of July at the Italian Club.
We shared stories, where we celebrated the past, talked about how we can continue to reflect through our prayers and to act in the future for the good of the mission of the whole Church.
We reflected on collaborative Ministry and a true spirit of Synodality i.e., working together, sharing our many gifts for the good of all and our mission.
Because we are many parts, but one body and Stronger Together.

How rich is being rich to you?
As part of the 'Youth Yarn' series, one of the platforms the Diocese uses to engage with youth, we spontaneously approached young people and asked them about topics that are frequently discussed among them and that they often contemplate. One of the questions we posed was, "How rich is being rich to you?" Here are some responses from the youth.

How do you know that there’s heaven?
Lily from Alice Springs asked CathCroc how we know there's a heaven. CathCroc consulted Bishop Charles who said that we know there's a heaven because Jesus told us there is. He pointed out that Jesus did some amazing things, like healing people, helping the blind see, and even bringing people back to life.
By what Jesus did and said, we know that He's truly who He claims to be: God among us. And God cannot tell lies.
Bishop added that Jesus told us that when we die, we are going to be together with God and with each other. That's why he knows there is a heaven: because he trusts Jesus and what He said to us.
If you have any questions about God, the beautiful creations around us, or anything else that's important to you, you can email AskCathcroc@gmail.com

Dean's Ordination & Vocations
🎉 Join us tomorrow in celebrating the upcoming ordination of Dean Taberdo as a Catholic priest! 🙏 Dean, a local boy from Palmerston, has answered God's call to serve His people. 🌟
A priest's mission is to walk with others, sharing the message of Christ and growing in the love of God. ❤️ They are human, with strengths and weaknesses, but they embrace their calling with love and dedication.
Priesthood is an invitation from God, and many others may also be called to serve as priests or in different roles within our diocese. Let's reflect on God's plan for our own lives and live our Christian faith with humility and compassion. 🌱🙌
As Dean's bishop, I'm excited to ordain him tomorrow! Please keep him in your prayers as he embarks on this journey to be a faithful follower of Jesus. 🙏✝️

Faith formation
Christian life is a journey of faith, and it is important to nurture our faith as we grow in our relationship with God. The sacraments of initiation, such as baptism, confirmation, and Eucharist, are central to our faith, but they are not the only way to grow in our faith. Our diocesan office is committed to providing a variety of resources to help us grow in our faith, including videos, online courses, and opportunities for discussion and fellowship.
We encourage you to check our diocesan website and parish notices for upcoming events and resources that can help you grow in your faith. Together, we can be true ambassadors and disciples of Jesus Christ, proclaiming the good news to all.
God bless you all.

Happy Mother's Day!
Mothers speak to us so clearly, so eloquently, about God’s absolute and unconditional love.
My mother died, many years ago, but I still have a great smile every time I think of her and I know that we are still connected in such a deep bond of love.
We thank God for mothers!

Opportunity to ask Bishop Charles some questions
🙏🏽 My dear brothers and sisters, questions are part of life and I consider myself a lifelong learner. As a young man, I've questioned everything about my faith, and I'm so glad I found opportunities where I could find some answers. 🌟 So, I'm providing an opportunity for anyone who would like to be there to come in person and be present to ask those questions. 🤔 I don't care what they are as long as they are genuine. 🙌🏽 So anyone who's got questions they'd like to ask the Bishop, I would be very glad to have the opportunity to share some of my reflections with you. 📅 Looking forward to seeing you if you are able to be there. 🙏🏽 God bless you all.

Introducing our new Diocesan logo
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I would like to introduce to you our Diocesan logo. After wide consultation 🙌 with various people including our Priests, Catholic Care, Catholic Education, and First Nations People, we have finally come up with a logo that represents the Spirit of our community.
The logo features the shape of a dove 🕊️, symbolizing the Holy Spirit, with its right wing shaped like the Northern Territory (and in ochre red i.e. the colour of the NT flag). The dots forming the cross represent the dot painting used by our First Nations People, and the blue line represents the water of Baptism 💧 and the Arafura Sea 🌊.
While the logo represents a dove, it also appears like the palm of a hand receiving the fire 🔥 of the Holy Spirit as we serve the Northern Territory.
I invite you to take a look at our new logo, which you can view at https://fb.watch/jUlCf6Nmco/. Our new logo reflects our mission as a Church for the world, embracing all with the fire 🔥 of love❤️.
God bless you all🙏.
