Recently we have seen inflation hitting record highs! The reported inflation rate of 7% is the highest since the 1980's, however many economists believe that the real rate of inflation is approaching 20%. We have not experienced economic problems like this in my lifetime, and I talk with Dad about Inflation, Economics, and what we can do to protect ourselves from what is coming. Once again, we are hanging out with friends on Friday nihgt after a long work week. City of Norman Councilman, Stephen Tyler Holman, joins us to tell us a story of Big Government going too far. The Friendly Market was raided by the police, who used Civil Asset Forfeiture to seize the business assets, claiming drug paraphernalia. The case was fought all the way up to the State of Oklahoma Supreme Court, where the defendants were victorious! This is a pretty long episode, and is only Part 1 of two. This is our first show of 2022 and we change things up by adding Richard Danley as our Musical Director! We hang out and eat together while having fun conversations. This is a 3 part series. I was watching a City of Norman online town hall conversation, with various candidates running for City Council positions answering questions about important issues. Many questions focused on crime, police funding, homeless shelters, and the homeless problem in general. Having grown up in NYC and also spending a lot of time in Oklahoma, I decided to write my thoughts discussing these two worlds. A lot of it comes down to solving the drug problem as well as providing opportunity for the less fortunate among us. We are not going to be able to help everyone, especially not if we attempt a "one size fits all" solution. But perhaps we can help a lot of the people in need, and also reduce crime in the process. Solve the drug problem and provide opportunity, and that will be a good start to solving everything else. Perhaps some of you will find this video harsh compared to my normal content, but this is an important story! While playing video games on the internet, the police raided the apartment of my friend in Australia because his neighbors suspected him of violating the lockdown. They heard him talking on the internet, assumed he had an illegal guest, and called the police. This is insane! Freedom requires courage and trust. We must have the courage to face our problems, and the trust in our neighbors to help us look out for each other. If our courage fails, and we give up our individual freedoms for the false promise of security, we will never get our freedoms back. History proves this time and time again.
