First time he did this :)
Just a bonus, Kæri didnt like it so much to be petted without a halter, it was first time he allowed himself for a decent scratch with his head outside his box this way. He actually does love to be scratched on his head, he just needs to learn it is also safe and nice if he has no halter. This was last update I got from him, so thats all folks, for now.

Kærleikur just after he got shoes in front first time ever
Not to many updates reach me. His progress comes in babysteps. Kæri got shoed for the very first time, but for the safety of the farrier it was necessary to cluster his hindlegs, so he could move but not kick. Kæri is smart, because he instantly knew this wasnt working and was very sweet and nice for the rest of the procedure. I hope he changed his mindset on kicking completely, but he makes progress even on that. He is not aggressive, he just uses his legs in frustration when he cant flee from something he finds scary. Very important to not give him what he wants but make clear this gets him nowhere.
They lunge him now with a saddle on his back, and I am confident he now also has a bridle. He is difficult to halter (also likes to kick) so that takes a little longer as I think they wait until he is totally fine to be haltered and, he needs to be checked by a vet if his teeth are ok first. Standard procedure with his trainer :)
So for now, its a bit waiting. This upcoming week Im superbusy with work, but the weather is finaly above freezing and rain which means its easier for me to go visit him. I might try to see him between shifts at work. I cant wait :)
Until next update!

My hairy guy is finaly here
Just a very short video.... Kærleikur started his training yesterday and with babysteps he is brought to civilisation and hopefully I can ride him finally this summer. I love his manes, he is so pretty even in his furry winter outfit :) And I cant wait until I can cuddle him to pieces. At the moment not a good idea, because I would be in pieces rather than him. And when he left his 'home' yesterday, the two other boys, his sons, arrived there too. All their siblings (sired by this masterpiece) are being slaughtered today :( Its so sad.... but better not think to much about it. I could save the two I soon officially own.

My two preciouses
Hinrik (tobiano) and Oliver (blue dun). My Kaerleikur made them, in the memory of my dad who passed away on June 3rd 2022. They were born around then. Hinrik is named after him, and Oliver is a bonus, I didnt plan on him at all, but he is Hinriks best friend I couldnt bear to separate them as they are soulmates from birth, always together. Oliver is named also in memory of my dad, because he loved Oliver & Hardy, and he had all books of Ollie (Oliver) B Bommel (by Dutch writer Maarten Toonder). And its the name that came to my mind almost right away.
Im curious to how they will develop as I didnt buy them by pedigree or quality, but with my heart. Hinrik has a decent build though and have no doubt he will be a good riding horse.
