San Diego Zoo pumped more than 8 tons of white, cold, fluffy snow into their snow leopards’ habitat, marking the first time the animals experienced snow. These magnificent cats are native to the cold, steep mountains in central Asia, and zoo officials say that providing all animals a close resemblance of their natural habitat keeps them stimulated and active, allowing them to exhibit their natural behaviors. For millennia, the snow leopard thrived in harsh mountainous terrain, but their population numbers are now declining due to climate change and has marked them as an endangered species.

A Polish biologist said the wolf exhibited behavioral patterns that indicated he wanted to play with the lynx and her kittens, instead of hunt and eat them. The Worldwide Wildlife Foundation has heralded this encounter as an indisputable sign that conservation efforts are succeeding as the two endangered populations are rebounding.
Ukrainian Cat Adopts Two Abandoned Baby Squirrels

Belka, whose name means 'squirrel' in Ukrainian, took to feeding, cuddling and licking the two squirrels along with her own newly born kittens. The baby red squirrels are to be placed in a petting zoo's outdoor enclosure once they are strong enough.
