Samuel Rostøl - I'M HUNGER-STRIKING FOR THE WHALES
— 𝘢𝘴 𝘐𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯
Two days ago it was announced that whaling would be allowed again in Iceland.
As a firm believer in personal action, I immediately started a hunger-strike with the (slim) hope of reminding the icelandic government that there are many people opposing the whale hunt.
I also advocate for anyone else to join in on the protest in whatever way you see fit; join me for one day of hunger striking, or do something else that you might feel is more productive.
The whales need you, until all whaling has ended ❤️

Faroe Islands: A Family of white sided dolphins terrorized for hours and killed
Danish - Faroe Islands, August 26, 2023:
Weekend.Blodsport - Just over a week since the last grindadrap in Hvannasund, they have driven in a small pod of Atlantic white sided dolphins. See out main Facebook page for the livestream
Hvannasund has a population of just 432 individuals. Assuming that each individual eats 250g of meat per month (the maximum amount recommended by Faroese authorities) just two pilot whale is sufficient to supply this community for 12 months. So why, just NINE DAYS after killing 44 pilot whales, was there a need to kill another five Atlantic white-sided dolphins?
It makes no sense. If it makes no sense to you either, then please speak out - share our posts on social media and write to your local politician, asking them to publicly condemn the grindadráp hunts.

Facts about Dolphin industry (Orcas) - Written by Captain Paul Watson:
ORCAS BY NUMBERS
There are 53 Orcas presently in captivity.
Since 1961, 166 Orcas have been captured.
133 of them are now dead.
The last Orca to die in captivity was Toki or Lolita in the Miami Sea Aquarium Prison owned by Eduardo Albor (August 2023) Earlier in the year Kiska died in March 2023 in the notorious Niagara Falls Marineland Prison
Numbers:
Orcas captured from the wild since 1961: 166
Orcas captured from the wild that have died: 132
Number of surviving wild captured Orcas: 34
Orcas killed during attempted capture: Five in 1970 from the Southern Resident Pod
Orcas that have died in captivity: 175
Orcas still born or miscarriages in captivity: 30

Biggest Dolphin Slave Owner owning the largest numbers of Dolphin prisoners: Eduardo Albor owns the The Dolphin Company with 30 different facilities worldwide.
This is the man that SSCS President Pritam Singh publicly referred to as an “angel” when launching the controversial free Lolita, free Tokai mission in March 2023. By the time of her death not a single permit for moving the Orca back to the Pacific Northwest had even been applied for as she lingered on in bad health in a pool that was literally falling apart and flaking paint chips into the water.
Eduardo Albor’s Prisons: (1) Isla Mujeres, Mexico: 20 dolphin prisoners (2) Dolphin Discovery, Mahahual Mexico. (3) Dolphin Discovery Cozumel, Mexico. (4) Dolphin Dicovery Mahahual, Mexico. These prisons hold some 2,400 animals of 80 different species
21 of these prisons have dolphin prisoners. I have not been able to tally to the exact number of dolphin prisoners being held. If anyone has this information please let me know.
Estimated worldwide population of Orcas: 50,000
Estimate of numbers in the Eastern North Pacific: 2500
Number of Southern Resident Orcas: 73. Status: Endangered since 2001 in Canada, 2005 in the USA
Orca Prisons: China. 15 caught from the wild.
Threats to Orcas in the Wild.
The greatest threat to Orca survival is from diminishment of fish especially in The Pacific Northwest and the Strait of Gibraltar.
Sailors and fishermen routinely shoot at Orcas in the Strait of Gibraltar.
Orcas are hunted and killed in the Caribbean (St. Vincent) and in the Waters of Danish Greenland.

Video 2 - 8 Pilot whales killed in Faroe Islands Bloodsport - August 19, 2023
The Faroese pride themselves on their seafaring abilities and their connection to the ocean that surrounds them. Today is national Sailors’ Day.
But instead of being proud, the botched tagging attempt and subsequent grindadrap should see the Faroese Marine Research Institute (FAMRI) feeling thoroughly ashamed by the catalogue of poor decisions by their staff.
This has resulted in yet another unprofessional tagging gone wrong: the tagging should not have been considered due to weather (gusting 62kph!) and wind direction, the team took too long to arrive and greater efforts should have been made to allow time for the animals to recover and be driven out. The weather made killing the animals very difficult, resulting in multiple wounds both from rocks and false starts with the knife (see photos).
Timeline below
10:22 News breaks of what is described as a mixed pod of Atlantic white-sided dolphins and pilot whale (also a dolphin species) being reported to the MRI to see if they were interested in tagging. Meantime the pod is kept in the fjord.
11:20 CPWF UK volunteers arrive on site, finding no sign of Atlantic white-sided dolphins
12:18 Tagging team finally arrives on site and makes the decision to proceed with tagging despite difficult weather conditions
12:41 The decision is made to abandon the tagging due to weather and drive them back out. The eight pilot whales have already been moved into very shallow water.
13:01 The pod is disorientated, weakened and now in water so shallow that stranding is a strong possibility. A boat attempts to get between the pilot whales and the shoreline but swiftly abandons efforts.
13:24 Animals start to strand on the rocks, unable to keep themselves upright
13:30 Decision taken to kill the animals. Due to the small number of folk on-hand to kill the pod, this took over 10 minutes – 9 and a half of which is shown on our livestreams.
Tagging of an animal should only ever be undertaken by trained professional (much of the tagging work is undertaken my community members overseen by scientists) and should only be undertaken when there is a clear scientific need. Yet time and again we see the decision being taken to tag simply because animals are there and the pod is not big enough to bother calling a grind.
Today that resulted in more unnecessary deaths.

Video 1 - 8 Pilot whales killed in Faroe Islands Bloodsport - August 19, 2023
Killing methode: Stabbing dolphins spine. This inhumane, brutal method of killing, stabbing the spine, causes the greatest pain and long suffering. The dolphins do not die immediately, often they still alive with broken spine for minutes or longer. Dolphins in Japan are killed by the same cruel killing method. We saw "killed" dolphins with spinal column stabbed, after 40 minutes of supposed from killing, tied to the boat in front of the slaughterhouse, flapping their tailA mixed pod of Pilot Whales and Atlantic White Sides Dolphins has been spotted in the Faroe Islands. A grind was not been called and the plan was to tag the pod. Yet another botched attempt at tagging in the Faroes, resulting in the animals eventually being killed when they were too disoriented to recover swiftly enough. Still alive, the terror in her eyes as the knife slices through and she waits to die, powerless to get free.
Our government in #Switzerland answered me when i asked them, if in Switzerland pilot whales and other dolphins killed in this way like in the Faroe Islands and Japan, stabbing the spine. The answer: Who kills in Switzerland in this cruel way such a large mammal, which would be sentenced to high fine or/and up to 5 years in prison.

Video 2 - Faroe Islands - About 40 dolphins killed in sadistic blood sport
August 17, 2023:
A grind was called in Hvannasund with an estimated 40 dolphins killed by the Faroese this evening.
The Faroese say that the grind is a sustainable and well regulated source of natural food that is integral to their culture. Yet local media seem to think hounding defenseless families of pilot whales onto the beach and then slaughtering them is about being macho and strong.

Faroe Islands (Europea) - Eyewitness account of the grind at Toshavn - July 09, 2023
"Yesterday I witnessed the inhumane slaughter of 78 pilot whales on the killing beach of Tòrshavn. 5 of these whales were pregnant, bringing the total number of deaths to 83. 83 lives lost for meat so heavily contaminated with poisons and toxic chemicals it’s unsafe to eat is inconceivable to me.
Watching the boats drive the pod onto the beach whilst the locals plunged their hooks into the flesh of these creatures was the most barbaric thing I have ever witnessed. Watching one of the smallest calves as it thrashed around trying to escape before it was killed. Its screams are something that I will never be able to forget. Bloodied hands sliced uncarefully into its tiny fragile body until it finally lay still in the bloody water. It watched as its entire family was slaughtered one by one. It took 20 minutes for the pod to be massacred at the hands of the Faroese.
The Faroese argue this is done humanely but there was nothing humane about what I witnessed on that beach. Families stood watching this bloody mess, laughing and seemingly having fun in this horrific mass slaughter of families that are so similar to themselves. Whales are known to be smart and empathetic, I can’t say the same thing about the humans I saw on that beach."
The Faroese say the grind is swift and humane.
Long-finned pilot whale calves chased by loud boats for well over half an hour, forced onto the beach, watching mum and family die and then killed.
This level of stress and suffering is not swift and it's not humane. This is animal abuse.
Please speak up and share your thoughts in person and on social media. The only thing that needs to die is this tradition.

'Pest Control' - The Silence in The Oceans
Pest control, that's what the Japanese dolphin killers and whalers call their program to remove the marine mammals from the sea by killing them. Dolphin meat, like whale meat, is highly enriched with mercury and many other environmental toxins. Their consumption is harmful to the health. Dolphins and whales are considered by the fishing industry to be competition for small fish such as sardines, mackerel and other small marine fish spec.. It is pure greed for profit that drives the fishing industry to eliminate dolphins and whales. In Norway, whole bodies of dead whales are still dumped back into the sea immediately after being killed, the whalers admitted. Norway, Iceland, the rich Faroe Islands as a blood sport and Japan, all kill whales and dolphins for the same reason - because they are considered competition for small fish. In the Faroe Islands, toxic dolphin meat is offered for sale commercially in online stores. Nothing justifies the killing of whales and dolphins, except greed and madness.Behind all the crimes is the Japanese government, together with the Faroese, Norwegians and the Icelandic fin whale serial killer Kristján Loftsson , founded and financed the fake science NAMMCO, which is only deception. The main reason for this is so that all these 4 countries can say 'if the others kill dolphins and whales, we kill them too'. Dolphins and whales are protected internationally, in laws and trade agreements, about these crimes in the oceans, the other governemts worldwide always looked the other way. Whales and Dolphins alive are an important key in fight to climate change. But Today, Norway has Killed these year 2023 about more than 500 Minke whale, japan over 300 Whale and over 5000 Dolphins, The Faroese about 600 Dolphins, the fishing Industry worldwide about more than 300'000 dolphins and whales in fishing net and longline, alot of whales die because of ship strikes; Whales and Dolphins die by Sonar from Military, most of them stranded. The number of unreported cases will drive the number up even higher. Climate change will trigger a chain reaction at some point, perhaps in 10-20 years, after which the earth will no longer be what it once was. Instead of spending money on Mars missions and such crap, we need to restore the oceans with all our might. We have to reduce human births of a maximum of 2 children per family, with the two-child policy, and conviction, people do that voluntarily. At least 80% of the oceans must be put under protection, immediately, whales and dolphins must be protected, with military - We have no other choice. The oceans and their life secures andour future on earth, we can't again screw it up anymore if we want to live.

If the musicians recognize your sound, please write your name and link to your website or social media. I will then insert your name and link in the description. The scenes were filmed by a good friend, Liz Carter, who was in Taiji with Sea Shepherd Cove Guardians to film the cruelty to dolphins. Sea Shepherd Cove Guardians has been disbanded, they no longer exist. Now Dolphin Project is on the ground in Taiji: www.dolphinproject.com
Until this year, two dolphin groups about as same large were terrorized and mistreated in the bay. On September 1, the inhumane dolphin hunt in Taiji Japan starts again, for 6 months.

Nature Reserve 'Allmend' Lucerne Switzerland
Nature reserve Allmend Lucerne - Great close-ups of the yellow-bellied toads.
Starling performs a noise concert to attract attention to a partner, spotted woodpecker feeding its young, frog larvae (tadpoles) freshly hatched, dragonfly close-ups, pond hens babies, ducks pair, great close-ups of yellow-bellied toads and scuffles. Scuffles among yellow-bellied toads look spectacular, but are completely harmless, no animal was injured.
The focus of this film is on yellow-bellied toads, which are threatened with extinction. The Lucerne Allmend is home to one of the largest and still healthy populations of yellow-bellied toads in Europe. However, this may change rapidly due to climate change and other factors. Wetlands have been drained for agriculture, or developed or removed for industry, roads and housing. Lack of and drastic reductions in wetlands is one of the main reasons for the extinction of many species.

I composed a Soundtrack - Memory of Lonely Dolphin ‘Honey'
In May 2005, dolphin Honey and her family were hunted, terrorized in Taiji. Honey, a young female dolphin, was snatched from her family, selected by the Taiji dolphin mafia and kidnapped for sale to the dolphinarium industry. Honey was a calm young female. The remaining family members were brutally slaughtered in a sea of blood. Honey gave birth to a son named Marin after artificial insemination. Then, in 2016, her son Marin dies in the same pool. On January 1, 2018 , three days before the closure of Inubozaki Marine Park, Honey was clearly mentally ill and with a bruised back. So many people involved, visitors to the dolphinarium, even though they were standing right in front of Honey, they don't realize that Honey is hurt so badly. They all broke Honey's soul and heart with their ticket - Every day, dolphinarium visitor break the souls and hearts of dolphins in captivity around the world, in every dolphinarium and swimming with captive dolphins...

Cinematic Soundtrack - as in Taiji Japan Pilot Whale Family Were Killed
I composed the soundtrack intentionally not rhythmic, but chaotic, to convey the chaos, fear and panic of the pilot whales in the net during the terror.
No Blood in this video
Taiji Japan, Sept 8, 2022: After being held overnight the hunters returned to select which Pilot Whales would be slaughtered. Once the skiffs arrived, Japanese activist in the harbor noticed the drive boats driving another small pod. Fortunately for the dolphins they were unsuccessful. Kunito reports 9 Pilot Whales were slaughtered, and 2 Juvenile Pilot Whales died. Japanese activist estimate 25 Pilot Whales were pushed back to sea.
The pilot whales was a nursery pod from probably several families. Nine adults, probably the only ones and perhaps several matriarchs were slaughtered. Adult pilot whale females can go into menopause at any time to raise children, they can then focus on their jobs as nursery nurses and teachers. They have the ability to reverse menopause if they intend to have offspring.
The pilot wal teachers, kindergarten teachers, matriarchs and the children were doomed by the journey in the Kuroshio sea current that passes by Taiji. The entire DNA was deliberately wiped out today in Taiji, the killers reckon that the young pilot whales cannot survive without the guidance of their mothers or teachers. They will probably all starve to death in agony or fall victim to sharks.
