How to create your own weapon flow drill? Adrenaline Combatives - Julien Masson
Messing about with a few ideas today.
We decided to use the Muay Thai stance since it is in my humble opinion the most solid stance in the martial arts and we added weapons:
(Baton and a Tonfa)
So this is the little flow drill we developed.
More to come as we will create many more but the goal is the use Muay Thai as a base and to add weapons to it.
Let's see where it goes.

How to deal with Multiple Assailants - Stacking & Shielding - Adrenaline Combatives - Julien Masson
Multiple Assailants
Approach 3:
(Stacking & Shielding)
A principle I first learned with UC.
The principle of using a human shield to protect yourself from a secondary assailant.
Application:
- Control the head with a solid Thai clinch (use clothing for extra control)
- Use knee strikes to soften the target
- Moving the target around using appropriate footwork
- Place the target in between you and the threat to shield yourself from attacks
- Use head movement to evade those punches slipping through
A subject can be used as:
- a Shield
- a Battering
- a Projectile
The key elements here are:
- Mobility
- Control
- Explosiveness
Enjoy!

How to throw a lead punch in JKD? Adrenaline Combatives - Julien Masson
The straight lead hand is the backbone of Jeet Kune Do.
Once you get a solid grasp of its body mechanics by learning its components:
- En guard stance (foot / body positioning)
- Push shuffle (explosive footwork to close in)
- Hip rotation (extra power on the kinetic chain)
- Power Line (solid connection and accurate 3 knuckle landing)
- Drop step (Hand before foot)
- Contraction (back to en guard)
You will have the fundamentals.
The eye jab for example shares the exact same mechanics except that the hand structure changes (same drill but different drill bit)
The straight lead hand if launched properly is a knockout shot because it possesses a solid kinetic chain.
It is also easy to follow up with other tools to finish the job if the first shot wasn't enough.
Once you understand how the lead hand works and how to throw it non-telegraphically you now have a great tool of interception.
There are thousands of drills to improve your lead hand and to develop it's concussive power.
Remember when you train the way we do on this video that you should strive to retain your speed (travel light) but cut the power down to preserve your training partner as it is easy to get knocked-out even through the head gear.
Develop the control to just touch the target with speed but no power and then whenever you want to add the power it becomes a second nature.
Enjoy.

What can we take from Lethwei? Adrenaline Combatives - Julien Masson
A bit of Lethwei today with my mate Adam 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼💣💥
A lot of good things to take for the Burmese art of the 9 limbs.
We drilled various way to throw the head and follow up.
Drill 1:
Basic Boxing Combo with added head butt and elbow:
- Jab
- Cross
- Hook
- Head butt
- Elbow
We had to modify the punching style because we worked bare knuckles (those combos are slightly different.
Drill 2:
Just focusing on diving head butt and elbow.
Drill 3:
The good old Lethwei elbow for elbow drill!
Drill 4:
Working from the clinch:
- Clinch control structure (get on the inside for better control
- Apply pressure with crown of the head
- Push on your feet to build the gap
- Head butt
- Elbow
Most clinchers have a lot of difficulties dealing with the head butt, they expect knees all day long (which are great too!) but they never expect the head butt (unless they do Lethwei).
Good little workout!
We'll do some more next week.
And next month we will do some wrestling because i realise that I have very little of my wrestling skills online.
All those will be part of video tutorials.
