What is 710 Day? A Tour in Pictures of a Colorado Dispensary – Understanding Dabs and Concentrates
Featured expert:Laura Stack
ORIGINAL WEBINAR: SUNDAY, JULY 10, 2022
Description
Sunday, July 10, 2022 is celebrated by the stoner culture as “Dab Day.” Do you know what July 10 (7/10 or 710) is known as Dab Day? Read about it here: https://johnnysambassadors.org/what-is-710-day
To wrap up National Marijuana Facts Week, which is July 4-10, Laura Stack will present a special FREE one-hour webinar, taking adults on a pictorial tour through a local Denver marijuana dispensary, so you can see what it’s REALLY like in a legal marijuana store today. Colorado is GROUND ZERO for marijuana – the first state to legalize recreational marijuana. Laura will help you understand “dabbing,” and how concentrates, such as shatter, wax, and oil are made, and why they are so harmful for youth brain development. Everyone who registers for this webinar will automatically receive the recording from GoToWebinar 24 hours later, whether you attended or not.
Speaker Bio
Laura Stack was best known in the business world for her professional moniker, The Productivity Pro. Her 30-year career as a keynote speaker, bestselling author of eight productivity books, and corporate spokesperson came to a screeching halt on November 20, 2019, when her 19-year-old son, Johnny, died by suicide after becoming psychotic from dabbing high-THC marijuana concentrates. Laura responded by forming the nonprofit, Johnny’s Ambassadors, to educate parents and teens about the dangers of today’s high-THC marijuana on adolescent brain development, mental illness, and suicide. Her platform now brings education, awareness, and prevention curriculum to parents, drug prevention conferences, community groups, and schools to stop youth marijuana use. She is a powerful speaker who brings Johnny’s personal warning and solid research together in her new book, The Dangerous Truth About Today’s Marijuana: Johnny Stack’s Life and Death Story. Described as a force of nature with unstoppable drive and unwavering purpose, Laura is determined to get teens to #StopDabbing.

Covering Cannabis as a Health Benefit: What Consumers Need to Know
Featured expert: Stacey L. Worthy, Esq.
ORIGINAL WEBINAR: FRIDAY, October 29, 2021
Handouts available at https://johnnysambassadors.org/ja211029/

As products containing cannabis increase in popularity, chances are that many consumers either have used or are considering using such products. However, these products have not gone through the FDA’s rigorous safety and efficacy process, meaning consumers could be at risk of ingesting contaminated and dangerous substances. Additionally, consumers often take cannabis-containing products without appropriate medical supervision, which could lead to harmful side effects.
Some states have introduced legislation that would require health plans to cover non-FDA-approved cannabis products. This type of legislation poses health and safety risks to consumers. Consumers and policymakers alike must be educated on the risks of covering these products. In this session, an attorney from Aimed Alliance will discuss the law and policy surrounding the cannabis-containing products, addresslegislative developments regarding coverage of cannabis as a health and workers’ compensation benefit, provide important health and safety considerations, and highlight potential legal consequences.

Handouts available at https://johnnysambassadors.org/ja210910/
Description
Do most Americans realize that treatment for substance use disorder is the least effective, most expensive method to deal with a societal substance misuse epidemic (now impacting approximately 1 in 3 American families)?
Learning Objectives
1. Learn the principles of effective prevention and become familiar with their proven track record.
2. Briefly consider the cost and effectiveness of prevention vs treatment.
3. Understand the vulnerability of the youth brain, impact of concentration.
4. Understand scientists have demonstrated that youth are products of their environment and that scientists have demonstrated that by changing children’s environment we can either release their minds allowing for full development or limit them by facilitating the creation of a use disorder.
5. Understand how without effective public health guardrails, the drivers of commercialization of addictive substances run counter to the principles of effective prevention
Speaker Bio

ORIGINAL WEBINAR: FRIDAY, September 3, 2021
Handouts available at https://johnnysambassadors.org/ja210903/
Description
Dr. Gobbi will present laboratory data showing the impact of cannabis and on mood regulation and depression. She will present behavioral and electrophysiological data elucidating how endocannabinoid system interacts with monoamines in modulating mood. Moreover, she will present data from large human epidemiological and meta-analysis studies confirming the evidence that cannabis in long term induces depression and increases the risk of suicide in young populations.
Learning Objectives
1. To understand how the endocannabinoid system modulates the mood in mammalian.
2. To understand how THC induces “up and down” in the brain.
3. To revise major studies carried out in humans showing a link between cannabis and depression and cannabis and suicide.
Speaker Bio
Dr. Gabriella Gobbi is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, McGill University. She leads a laboratory of basic science (Neurobiological Psychiatry Unit) and works as a Staff Psychiatrist at the Mood Disorder Clinic of the McGill University Health Center. Her research approach spans from bench to bedside, bridging the gaps between fundamental and clinical research.

How to Get Teens to Treatment: Finding Help for Your Child
Featured expert: Jordan de Haan
ORIGINAL WEBINAR: FRIDAY, August 27, 2021
Handouts available at https://johnnysambassadors.org/ja210827/
Description
What do you do when your child is in Cannabis Induced Psychosis (CIP)? What kind of services are available to help you get treatment for your loved one? What if your child is over 18 years old? The Recovery Guides is a behavioral health services provider. Our team has decades of experience within the behavioral health space, and our staff has facilitated hundreds of adult and adolescent interventions with over 3500 hours of direct intervention experience. Our goal is to help clients accept treatment, get to treatment, and to build ancillary supervisions systems as clients step down in level of care. We are committed to partnering with the best clinicians, treatment centers, and therapeutic consultants.
Learning Objectives
Intervention
• What is an intervention? What are the different types and how do I find one?
• Crisis Navigation and how it differs from formal Intervention.
• How do you know what treatment center to place someone in?
Adolescent Transport
• What is adolescent transport? How does it work and when is it necessary?
Recovery Detective
• How do private investigators integrate with behavioral health?
Case Management & In-Home Support Staff
• What is it? Is it really necessary and how does it work?
• Is it treatment? Can treatment be done privately and in the home?
Remote Supervision & Drug/Alcohol Testing
• Saliva Testing
• SoberLink
• TrueLink Financial
Speaker Bio
Jordan de Haan is the Executive Director of the Recovery Guides. Like so many others, he first encountered behavioral health problems as a client. When I was 13, I started to experience depression and anxiety, and in the span of six months went from a happy, driven kid to struggling with suicidal ideation and failing all of my classes. I then found cannabis and felt relief for the first time in what felt like an eternity. I immediately latched on to it and quickly progressed into more and harder substances (while always keeping cannabis as a constant).
By the age of 21, I found myself facing recurring legal troubles and was broken, both mentally and physically. It was only through going to treatment that I slowly began to see that there was an alternative. Fortunately, I was connected with great young adult treatment programs that slowly helped me get my life back. While still in these programs, I realized that I wanted to remain a part of them professionally. Looking back, entering treatment for the first time was truly the point where my whole life began to change, and I yearned to be able to be some small part of that process for others as well.

State of the Science of Cannabis
State of the Science of Cannabis
Featured expert: Dr. Susan Weiss
ORIGINAL WEBINAR: FRIDAY, August 6, 2021
Handouts available at https://johnnysambassadors.org/ja210806/
Description
Laws around cannabis in many parts of the United States are rapidly changing. This is partly due to shifting attitudes: the public is becoming more supportive of policies that decriminalize or legalize cannabis, because prohibition has not prevented access to the drug and has disproportionately harmed people of color and their communities (among others). There is also a widespread belief that cannabis is safe relative to other substances, and may have therapeutic benefits, leading 36 states plus DC to legalize its medical use; and 18 states plus DC to legalize it’s use by adults.
Cannabis is plant containing more than 120 cannabinoids plus other chemicals in varying concentrations. Two cannabinoids have received the most attention: delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), responsible for the main psychoactive effects associated with marijuana; and cannabidiol (CBD), which is purported to have multiple therapeutic benefits and very low toxicity or addictive liability. Marijuana products available today are more potent than they were 20 years ago (often containing more than 15 or 20% THC in flower products, and more than 50% THC in concentrates); and CBD products are ubiquitous in the market, but remain unregulated by the FDA, and many of the purported medical benefits are untested.
Although more research is needed on both THC and CBD, we do know that cannabis containing mostly THC is associated with specific harms, many of which are exacerbated in users who start young and use it often. Cannabis can be addictive; it raises the risk of car crashes; it affects cognitive performance; it can precipitate or worsen the course of psychosis in vulnerable individuals; and it negatively affects life achievement and satisfaction. Also, because the endocannabinoid system (where cannabis acts) plays an important role in brain development, cannabis may pose specific risks for children and adolescents, and babies in utero. But there is still much we don’t know about cannabis, including the reversibility or persistence of its effects; the impact of higher potencies, and new formulations on addiction and other consequences; and the potentially beneficial effects of cannabis or cannabinoids, including CBD, for treating pain and other conditions.
Learning Objectives
This presentation will focus on the current state of the science of cannabis to provide a better understanding of how cannabis works in the brain (and body) to exert its diverse effects, and to identify critical research needs and opportunities, including those stemming from the changing cannabis policies.
• Cannabis is widely used, and its use is increasing with the permissive legal environment emerging in the US.
• Cannabis products and routes of administration are also changing rapidly, with potential for greater harms in some cases.
• Science of cannabis – its mechanisms of action and what is known about its short-and long-term effects in various populations.
• Potential therapeutic uses of various cannabis components, including cannabidiol (CBD).
• Implications of changes in US State policies related to marijuana legalization for medical or adult use.
Speaker Bio

The Natural Progression of Vaping to Marijuana to Opiate Abuse: A Recipe for Disaster
The Natural Progression of Vaping to Marijuana to Opiate Abuse: A Recipe for Disaster
Featured expert: William Lynch
ORIGINAL WEBINAR: FRIDAY, MAY 14, 2021
Handouts available at https://johnnysambassadors.org/ja210514/
Description
With the COVID-19 pandemic 2020 has seen an increase in overdose deaths beyond the highest numbers of overdose deaths ever recorded in 2019. Youth in our country often start experimenting with alcohol, marijuana and tobacco. This can lead to the unfortunate use of other substances and development of substance use disorders (SUD) as use increases. Vaping entered the scene in 2016 and has dramatically increased amongst our youth and young adults. Vaping provides a new delivery system to obtain higher levels in the body of substances being used and abused. Many individuals have engaged in vaping and now information clearly demonstrates that there is a natural progression from vaping to marijuana to opiate/opioid abuse. This presentation will review the clinical data which shows this natural progression to truly have scientific merit.
Learning Objectives
1. To understand the increased use of vaping, especially among our youth and young adults, and how vaping enhances the levels (bioavailability) of substances causing further difficulties.
2. To obtain knowledge about the multiple different substances both legal and illicit that are being abused via vaping.
3. To achieve better comprehension on how vaping has been designed and clearly demonstrated to lead to marijuana use and abuse.
4. To understand how marijuana use contributes and progresses to opiate/opioid misuse and abuse.

Vaping Me Crazy: Weed Between the Lines
Vaping Me Crazy: Weed Between the Lines
Featured expert: Michael DeLeon
ORIGINAL WEBINAR: FRIDAY, JULY 23, 2021
Handouts available at https://johnnysambassadors.org/ja210723/
Description
We are in the worst public social health crisis America has ever seen. The two greatest threats to our youth and young adults right now are Fentanyl and Marijuana. Most people might agree with the first drug, but few even understand the second. The marijuana movement that began in 2009 with the Ogden memo and Colorado exploding "medical" marijuana through the full legalization stage in Colorado and Washington has drastically changed, and very few people even understand what's happening. The complicity and ignorance of the media and state and federal governments have allowed the tobacco industry and billionaire hedge funds to create a multi-billion-dollar
Learning Objectives
At the end of this webinar, you will understand:
• The origin of 90% of addiction: The Trifecta Gateway
• Where we are 11 years after the OGDEN MEMO
• How the e-cigarette manufacturing industry evolved to become the preferred delivery system for weed
• What has happened with the CBD industry and how they have used vape shops to deliver psychoactive, hallucinogenic legal weed to all 50 states through the Farm Bill of 2018

Cannabis Use and Psychosis: The Chicken or the Egg
Cannabis Use and Psychosis: The Chicken or the Egg
Featured expert: Dr. Marta Di Forti
ORIGINAL WEBINAR: FRIDAY, JUNE 18, 2021
Handouts available at https://johnnysambassadors.org/ja210618/
Description
Cannabis use is associated with increased risk of later psychotic disorder. Heavy cannabis use affects the rates of psychosis; this is scientifically proven and no longer a myth. However, whether it has an impact on incidence of the disorder remains unclear.Famed cannabis researcher, Marta Di Forti explains the importance of her research for Johnny’s Ambassadors! She has published thefirst evidencethat:
• (2009) High potency carries more risk than use of traditional forms.
• (2013) Those first episode psychosis patients that have used high potency cannabis experience their illness onset 6 years earlier than those who never used it.
• (2014) Genetic variants part of the dopamine system may play a role in the individual susceptibility to the psychotogenic effect of cannabis.
• (2015) In south London, 24% of new cases of psychotic disorders can be attributed to high potency cannabis use.
• (2019) High potency cannabis use and daily use of cannabis impact on rates of psychotic disorders across 11 European sites, including London. This paper has already been cited 161 times and was recently quoted by the US surgeon general in his statement on the risks of cannabis use.
Learning Objectives
A
fter this one-hour webinar, participants will understand:
• Thepatterns of cannabis use with the strongest impact on the probability to suffer from a psychotic disorder.
• The data on the roleof genetic load for schizophrenia in influencing how much andwhat typeof cannabis people use.
• Whether differences in patterns of cannabis use contribute to variations in the expected number of people newly developing a psychotic disorder.
Speaker Bio
Dr. Marta Di Forti is regarded as one of the leading researchers in the world in the field of cannabis and psychosis. She is a Senior Lecturer at the Dept. of Social, Developmental, and Genetic Research, Institute of Psychiatry, and Honorary Consultant Adult Psychiatrist, Lambeth Community team, South London, and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The clinical population she cares for comprises young individuals suffering their first episode of psychotic disorders. Two thirds of her patient group have used cannabis before their psychotic onset. Di Forti runs the first and only Cannabis Clinic for Patients with Psychosis in UK, which started in June 2019 and was developed through a collaboration with a team of leading global experts in psychosis and a grant from the Maudsley Charitable fund. In 2020, Di Forti was awarded an MRC Senior Clinical Scientist Fellowship that will allow her to expand her research in the role of cannabis use in psychosis and its underlying biology. She showed for the first time that use of high-potency types of cannabis (e.g., “skunk”) carries a higher risk of psychosis than use of traditional types and affects rates of psychotic disorders across Europe, though it still remains unclear which cannabis users are at most risk. Her future work aims to investigate the interaction between cannabis use and genes predisposing to schizophrenia and how cannabis changes the epigenome.
