5 Hacks for Small Businesses to Outrank Larger Ones
Five hacks for small businesses to outrank larger ones. How can you compete with those big guns when it comes to SEO? If they already have a better domain authority than you and they have the fingerprints all over the best search queries in your vertical, it can seem like it's impossible to outrank them, right? Well, no, that's wrong. You can outrank them.
That means not just going after the biggest, most important keywords within your industry that has major players already sitting at the top. Because if you do that, it's going to take a very long time. You're going to be playing their game and it's going to be harder to win. What you need to do is make them play your game. Remember, these are big brands that we're talking about here, massive corporations. And, although they're stocked with resources, they're not agile.
Let's dive into five ways that your small business can supersize your SEO strategy and maybe even compete with some of the biggest names in your industry.

____________________________________________
Hack number one, focus on UX or user experience. Think SEO and UX don't go hand in hand? Think again. Google pays attention not just to keywords and links, but how people click on your website. And if your UX is terrible, you simply will not rank really high.
Hack number two, work on your social presence. Two tips in a row don't even include SEO. Strange, right? Except both UX and social media can play a central role in your SEO just not in your traditional way. Just think about it this way, those big name competitors might have a monopoly on the major keywords that you want to rank for, but anyone can go viral. Building your brand on social media can still drive a ton of traffic to your website and branding is one of the most important factors in SEO.
Hack number three, use canonical tags. Need to avoid duplicate content? It's an absolute SEO must. And the big companies over time tend to create a lot of content on the same topic over and over and over again, which causes Google to be ensure which page to rank for a popular keyword. For example, if I have a page on the Beginner's Guide to SEO, and then I have another post on A Guide on How to Get Started with SEO, both are pretty much the same thing. They're talking about how to do SEO or get started if you're a beginner. So Google doesn't know which one to rank.
Hack number four, optimize your local listings. Remember what I said earlier about how almost half SEO searches are local ones? That just goes to show how important local SEO is. A huge part of it is to create local search listings, especially for small businesses. Remember, you can't just go from big industry head keywords that everyone is searching for from day one. Focus on what you can control, your local listings. This should include high quality images, up-to-date hours, extensive product listing, and specific creative content that reflects your brand and what you have to offer. Any inconsistencies with your local SEO listing can create issues for you, not just with Google crawling and listing your page, but with your audience actually not being able to find you.
Hack number five, write detailed content and refresh it often. I want to emphasize the refresh it often. You want to stand out in your niche? Becoming a thought leader is hard work, but it can pay off big. And writing a lot of content, especially long form content, with high quality keywords and links is essential to get ahead, but you also need to refresh that content on a regular basis. That's what a lot of big companies don't do.
Remember Google prioritizes experience, so not just refreshing content, but getting your message out as short and as quick as possible. Sometimes that could be in 100 words, sometimes that could be in 500 words. Sometimes that needs to be 5 or 10,000 words.
And if you keep refreshing your content, although I mentioned this time and time again, it can really get you a lot of traffic. Now, I also want you to check out your competition's content about similar keywords and make sure you are trying to find new ways to outrank them and assert yourself as an industry leader.
Now that you know these five hacks, you should be able to really take off when it comes to SEO and beat these big companies that have bigger brands than you. Trust me, I've done it and it works. We do it at our ad agency, NP Digital, for both large companies and even startups to midsize companies.

The Secret to Getting a 30% Email Open Rate
The secret to getting a 30% email open rate. On average, for every dollar you spend on email marketing you can earn $36 according to Constant Contact. And if you are a top performer, for every dollar you spend, you can earn $70. But here's the thing, if no one opens up your emails, you'll never earn $7 or even $36. So let's fix that by not only helping you get your emails open, but let's make them better than average.

Campaign Monitor: https://www.campaignmonitor.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
___________________________________________
Strategy number one, make your emails more conversational. A simple way to do this is try addressing the recipient's name in the subject line. It makes your emails more personal and causes them to open them. And when doing this, use people's name instead of their company. Remember, it's a person opening up that email, not a faceless company. This also helps build a sense of familiarity so that the person feels seen as if your email was a tool for building a relationship.
Strategy number two, subscriber segmentation is one of the most effective email marketing campaign strategies. You might have the best offer out there, but it means nothing if it's not going to the right person. Target your audience based on location, interest, purchase history, and other major factors.
Strategy number three, avoid spam folders. Getting sent to the spam folder is a death sentence for your email list. Send your campaigns from a good, reputable IP address. The way you do this is twofold. You can either warm up your IP address by slowly sending emails and increasing the volume per day. Most people don't have that big of a list, so you're probably going to warm yours up even slower.
Another strategy that I love doing and most people don't do this, I don't know why, because everyone's like I want a dedicated IP with my email address. Well, I like piggybacking on someone else's IP. A lot of email providers, like Convert Kit, have shared IPs, which is great because you don't want to warm up your IP address. It's better for you to leverage other people's amazing reputation and trust with those email platforms.
Also, make sure all your users have opted in for your emails and avoid excessively salesy language. Include transparent methods for them to also opt out of your emails. So then that way you're not continually sending people emails who don't want them.
Strategy number four, give value. This sounds simple, but if your emails offer value, people will open them. If they don't, they won't open them. Only when sen emails, keep that in mind. Sure, you may need to sell them on something every once in a while, but offer a ton of value. That way, people look forward to your emails and will want to open them. I know this one sounds obvious, but you'll be shocked on how many people forget to do it, it's basic.
Strategy number five, time your emails. I don't know why people love sending emails in the middle of the night. Every morning when I wake up, I have hundreds of unread emails in my inbox. When I wake up, I see all these unread emails. And what do most people do? They ignore them.
So what a lot of marketers don't realize is if people have tons of emails over the weekend or at night, they usually ignore many of those emails or just mark them as read due to laziness. Don't be at the bottom of someone's email inbox. Be at the top.
Strategy six, write like a friend. I have a question for you. When you get an email from a friend, do you open it? Well, of course you do. If you don't, you probably missed it by accident or they're not really your friend. Now, what about an email pitching you on something? Chances are, you're going to ignore it. If your emails are written as if they're casual, as if you are writing an email to a friend, it'll get open more.
Strategy seven, A/B testing. Did you know that according to Smart Insights, 60% of companies use A/B testing to maximize conversions? If you don't know what works, try multiple methods and you can see what sticks and what's doing an amazing job in getting your emails open. I love sending out emails with the A/B subject line. In other words, half the group gets one subject line, the other group gets another subject line.
And this gives you insights on what you should do in the future. It's like getting customer feedback without even making people fill out a survey. Now, follow those tips and you'll be off and getting 30 plus percent open rates like I do in my agency.

How I Stay Ahead of Google Algorithm Updates
How I stay ahead of Google algorithm updates. Have you ever noticed that Google is constantly making algorithm changes? The worst part is that they don't always give you a ton of notice when they finally roll one out.
The bottom line is you simply can't afford to ignore Google or the many algorithm updates that are to come in the future. It's important to understand that Google's ranking system actually consists of multiple algorithms. It's not just one easy-to-understand system. In fact, there are over 200 components that factor into Google's algorithm.
The next time you hear an update has been rolled out, imagine it's an entire interconnected process, not just one simple lever being pulled. Here are a few essential tips for staying ahead of Google's algorithm update so you'll never get left behind.
RESOURCES & LINKS:

Google Alerts:
Roundtable: https://www.roundtable.eu/
Google Search Essentials: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/essentials
Semrush Sensor: https://www.semrush.com/sensor/
Crazy Egg: https://www.crazyegg.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Step one, set up Google Alerts. Tracking every single update that Google makes can be exhausting, but you can't afford to miss out on the big core algorithm update. With Google Alerts, you'll receive a notification directly in your inbox whenever algorithm updates are mentioned online, giving you enough time to prepare and tweak your SEO strategy if needed mentally.
Another great way to stay on top of algorithm changes is to follow Google Search Liaison on Twitter. Its official account essentially does what Google Alerts does, but tracks social media mentions instead, and while we're on the subject of Google, user tools such as Search Console and Use Google Analytics, they can help you identify unusual traffic activity as well as random spikes or dips in conversion.
Major traffic or conversions changes could indicate that your SEO has been affected by an algorithm change. It could be positive or negative. From there, you want to check out blogs, like search engine Roundtable and search engine Land, which typically covers what's happening, and I also cover them on neilpatel.com.
Step two, avoid Blackhat SEO practices. It's got a spooky name for a pretty good reason. Some of these practices might just help you gain a short term advantage, but it won't last long and it could even lead to penalty which could seriously harm your business's long term chances of ranking high on Google. You might even get blacklisted. Google's pretty smart. They can recognize when you're up to no good. Instead, read through Google Search Essentials.
Step three, optimize the user experience. Every update has one overarching goal: to show users the sites they love that provide the most helpful information and that are most beneficial. Look, a bad user experience can be disastrous for your traffic.
Ensure you also have a comprehensive internal linking structure, a fast-loading website, and quality content. You can use tools like DeepCrawl, BuzzSumo, Found, and more to see how your website is performing, and you can use tools like Crazy Egg to create a heat map that shows you where people are clicking on your website and where they don't, and you can use this data to improve your user experience as well.
Step four, keep your content fresh. I did not follow Google updates that much. Why? Because they happen so often and so quickly that it's almost impossible for me to anticipate everything that Google will change fully. What I did was I started prioritizing creating exceptional, user-friendly content and stuff that my audience actually wants to read.
Step five, use tools that determine what updates are affecting your website. Notice a decline in traffic as of lately? It might not be a random fluke. It might have been an algorithm change. Here are two tools that can help you identify what the heck went wrong.
The first is check out Google Search Console. It contains a ton of awesome resources that you can use to diagnose common performance issues and identify potential algorithm penalties.
Then the other tool that you have, Semrush Sensor. This tool breaks down what is changing for each industry when it comes to algorithm updates.
With these five strategies, you should be good to go and ready for whatever Google throws your way, and if you want even more help, check out my ad agency, NP Digital, where we help companies with their Google problems and heck, all their digital marketing problems.

My Favorite Keyword Research Strategy
Want to know how I find keywords that bring me tons of traffic? It's maybe the most important part of nailing your SEO strategy. 68% of online activity starts with a query in a search engine like Google or Bing. Identifying the right word to include in your content is essential.
And according to Ubersuggest 89% of the keywords get only 10 monthly searches or fewer. And according to Atrex, only 0.16% of the most popular keywords are responsible for 60% of all searches. What does that tell you? If you want your keywords to actually show up in your audience searches, you have to choose them extremely carefully. SEO is not a strategy where you can guess and hope for the best. Want me to tell you my favorite keyword strategy? Well, let's dive right in.

Moz: https://moz.com/
SEO Unlocked: https://neilpatel.com/training/seo-unlocked/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Step one, keyword discovery. This can be the most difficult part about the process but you need to get it right. I see a lot of beginners make mistakes in this phase. Maybe they'll choose really broad targeted words or obscure phrases that no one is searching for. That's why I love using keyword research tools like Ubersuggest or even Answer The Public. So once you head over to Ubersuggest, all you have to do is import a phrase and click search. You'll get a detailed breakdown that includes search volume, which is the number of searches per month, SEO difficulty, estimated competition for organic search, paid difficulty, estimated competition for paid search, cost per click.
But the best part, scroll down and you'll see plenty of variations of the keyword phrase you search for. If you're on a tighter budget, optimize a low competition, low cost per click option that still gets you good results or choose a few different ones and A/B test them to see what kind of results you're getting by running some Google paid ad campaign.
And then from there, use the five keyword idea variables to expand your search. Seeing the Ubersuggest search results page, you'll see suggestions, related, questions, propositions and comparisons. These are all tabs that you can click on to get even more keyword ideas.
Step two, analyzing and choosing the best keywords. Ready to narrow down your results from step one? I like going with no more than a hundred keywords for this part of the process. Eliminate the obvious ones that you don't want to use. Ubersuggest can help you see what page is ranked for for the keywords you want to use, plus how many back reads those pages have, and how many shares they have on Facebook and Pinterest and Reddit.
You can also narrow down your target keywords with Moz. If you have a pro membership or if you just have one keyword project to complete, you can always start a 30-day free trial. You can use their keyword difficulty and SERP analysis tool as well.
Step three, make final choices. The last crucial step. There are four critical components for making your final choices, but first keep a spreadsheet throughout the process and make sure you're recording every single piece of data that you want to use later on. Once you have your spreadsheet, organize it, make the following considerations. If your website is commercial, go with keywords that have commercial intent.
Find keywords that offer the sweet spot of high search volume plus low difficulty and minimal competition. Use keywords with high search volume with competitors that have lower domain authority and back reads.
This might seem like a ton of information but making that final decision isn't the most difficult. If you've done the research and compiled the data, the hard parts are already basically done.
Plus, if you have some informational keywords left over, you can always use them for other content topic ideas. If you have more questions about how to conduct better keyword research, check out the training courses I've created such as SEO Unlocked. You can find these all at NeilPatel.com/training.
I want you to put these keywords in practice so that you can have high rankings, not just for your blog post pages but all the webpages and start driving traffic and sales in no time. Again, the key is to use keywords in your content. From blog posts to webpages, if you don't integrate them in within your content whether it's your title tags, your meta tags, or just within your text or your headings, you're not going to do well.

Why I Focus on Social Media Marketing Over SEO
Why focus on social media marketing over SEO? You're probably surprised to hear this, after all, I'm mostly known for all things SEO. So why do I focus on social media marketing now? Because I've learned that it's one of the quickest and most effective ways to drive major traffic to any site. That doesn't mean to say that SEO doesn't work, it does, and I still love it, heck, my company relies upon it, our clients do, and SEO has created me one of the largest companies in the marketing space. Heck, it's created me one of the fastest growing companies in the United States according to Inc. Magazine as well.

Social Media Strategies To Boost Your SEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlmlzJTBL8M
____________________________________________
But here's an interesting stat for you, 74% of social media users actually use social media to make buying decisions. Influencers and social marketplaces are huge these days and they can quickly and effectively promote your products and services. And half of adult internet users say that when a brand incorporates their data into social ads it helps them discover products or services that directly align with what they're looking for.
In essence, companies are using those targeted ads that a lot of people say they never click on and don't work but in reality people are clicking on them. If they wouldn't, Google and Facebook wouldn't be as big of a companies as they actually are. And if you're targeting younger audiences they're all over TikTok and Instagram right now, and even Snapchat.
The amount of time that adults use social media across every platform per day is higher than ever, 95 minutes, that's more than an hour and a half, that's a ton of time, plenty of time for your ads to be seen and ultimately converted on. Instagram Story ads will bring in almost 16 billion in sales worldwide in 2022, according to HootSuite. Think about how quick and easy it is to create an Instagram Story and how inexpensive it is.
Again, love SEO, but because it takes a long time to see results, with social media you can see results instantly and you can pivot and figure out what's working and adapt that to your SEO strategy as well.
See, social is a rapidly changing environment but I can see what's working and what's not right away, and I don't have to wait for a algorithm update or I don't have to wait for someone to index my content. But at this point, you're probably wondering, Neil, social algorithms? They keep compressing my reach. And yeah, you talked about ads, so why should I love social media? Because I don't want to spend all that money on ads. Well, think of it this way. All platforms, whether they're social or search, have algorithms, it doesn't matter if it's TikTok or Google or Bing, you can't control what they do and over time they have all made it harder to get reach.
Google keeps showing more content within their search results so that way you don't have to click through over to their website. And if you're wondering what I mean just Google what the weather is today within your city and you'll see what I'm talking about, it just shows you the weather you don't have to click on weather.com or go to any site, you just see it right then and there. TikTok used to have much better reach a year ago than it does today; still a great platform, just like Google, they take up a lot of the clicks these days but it's still a great search engine but you can't do that much about it.
So instead of complaining about Google, YouTube or LinkedIn or TikTok or Instagram, as a marketer you just have to use these channels for what they are whether you like them or not. And there's a lot of platforms out there for you to use, so maximize them and get as much traffic as you can from them. And as I mentioned earlier, it's easier to see quick gains from social media over SEO.
Now to be clear, I'm not saying that you should use one channel and not the other because that's far from the truth. You need to actually take a omnichannel approach and use all the channels that your customers are on. But at least you know why I prefer social media over SEO even though I use both of them, and you should too.

The easiest way to get more blog traffic
The easiest way to get more blog traffic. If your blog isn't generating traffic, it's not the time to abandon it altogether. Instead, it's time to resuscitate it. There are over a billion blogs out there. How can you expect yours to stand out? Businesses with blogs experience twice as much email traffic as those that don't have one. Websites with a blog are shown to have 434% more index pages, meaning if you blog, your content will show up on searches which means more traffic. And according to HubSpot, marketers who prioritize blog marketing are 13x more likely to see a positive return on their investment.

Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
So, what should you be doing when you want to get more of that beautiful traffic? Here are some simple strategies that just work. Before I go into it, though, I have a question for you. Have you heard of the site Quora? Think of it as a site that answers any question that you may have. And people search for questions a lot.
According to data in Ubersuggest, roughly 8.1% of all searches on Google are questions. That may not seem like a lot of searches. But to put it in perspective, roughly 8.5 billion searches take place on Google daily. If 8.1% of those are questions, that's roughly 688 million searches for questions a day. That's roughly 251 billion searches a year from people who are looking for answers to their questions.
Now, that's a lot of searches. With your blog, if you can answer all the popular questions that people are searching for, you can generate millions of visitors like Quora too. But unlike Quora, you won't want to answer questions on every topic. Instead, you should answer people's questions related to the industry you're targeting.
So for example, I own a ad agency called NP Digital. So, I would want to answer all the questions that people have related to marketing because that is what will help my company generate more customers. And if I answer the questions for people searching for marketing-related questions, it also helps them and it connects the dots, and hopefully, more people will turn to my ad agency NP Digital, where by the way, we are Agency of the Year.
But the real question is, how do you find all the popular questions that people are searching for within your industry? So, let's break it down.
- Step one, go to answerthepublic.com.
- Step two, type in the keyword related to your industry on AnswerThePublic. Keep in mind one to two-word phrases produce the best results.
- Step three, AnswerThePublic, will show you all the popular questions people will type in related to that term.
- Step four, I want you to take all the questions and Google them. So, look for all the ones that are related to your industry that you think people will be typing in. And AnswerThePublic sorts them by popularity. Take notes of all the ones that you Googled and look at that page, see what's good about them and what's bad, and make a note of it.
- Step five, I want you to start creating content that answers each question. Use what the competition does as a guiding point. Typically, if a page or a site is ranked high on Google, it means people like that content. Of course, you don't want to copy them. Instead, you want to one-up them and create even better content.
- Step six, create hundreds if not thousands of blog posts answering those questions. Each post won't generate that much traffic, but by having thousands of pages like this, it'll generate thousands of visitors, if not potentially millions, over time.
- Step seven, repeat this whole process using AnswerThePublic, but I want you to try other keywords related to your space. Just like how I typed in digital marketing as a keyword the first time. I may repeat the process for terms like marketing or SEO or even terms like an ad agency or performance marketing.
In essence, the list just goes on and on and on. And this is how you criticize the answers to thousands, if not millions, of popular questions over time. One thing to note about AnswerThePublic is that it's sorting questions by popularity.
So, the ones recommended typically are the most popular and are going to generate you the most traffic.

How I grew my email subscriber list to 873,049 subscribers
Want to know how I got my email list to nearly 900,000 subscribers? It wasn't easy, but now my email list is basically like an ATM machine. My emails get an open rate of over 30%. That means over 260,000 people open my emails every time I send one.
If I have a product I want to promote at or event that's coming up or something I'm excited to share or even talk about, my agency NP Digital, where we help companies with their email marketing and all forms of digital marketing, it's the easiest way for me to get the word out and drive major revenue. Email marketing is super effective.
According to SaleCycle, 59% of email recipients say that emails influence their purchasing decisions. 80% of marketers say that email marketing increases customer retention. So how can you start building your subscriber list to boost your bottom line? Here are some strategies that have driven crazy growth for me.

____________________________________________
Strategy number 1, create a free tool or content that requires email sign-up. People love free stuff, especially when it helps them grow.
So not only are they getting more content based on what they want to see, I'm adding them to my email list, which means I have more opportunities to convert them down the road and maybe even upsell them. If you're creating something that's of actual value to your customers, then they'll be happier to exchange their information for your tool, your content, or anything they love using that you're giving away.
Strategy 2, try an opt-in campaign. Offering your audience the chance to specifically opt-in or out of your emails may seem counterintuitive. Not, according to this 2021 report by Campaign Monitor. The average email unsubscribe rate is .1%. That's barely anything. So if you know that recipients are unlikely to unsubscribe, give them the option. It helps you build more trust and grow your list with the right audience. And when they start sharing, they're doing the dirty work for you. Having your emails get forwarded is an amazing way to spread the word.
Strategy 3 boosts the incentives. Did you know up to 60% of users sign up for a newsletter to receive offers and sales promos? Including something like signs up now and get X in your newsletter is an extremely powerful way to drive interest in something new and fast. How fast? 21% of sent emails are open within the first hour of delivery. That's how fast, which means if you have a sale coming up quick, this is one of the best ways to promote it ASAP. Your audience is already hungry for an offer the second they sign up for your newsletter. Give them something tangible that they can act on right away. You're keeping them engaged and rewarding them for their loyalty which means they're more likely to keep opening, reading, and sharing your emails.
Strategy 4, partner up. My agency has found a new way to unlock explosive growth, partnering up with like-minded brands. 57% of organizations use partnerships to acquire new customers. The average business generates 18% of its revenue from pay search, but high-maturity partnership programs can generate 28%. That's much more.
So when I partner up with other people, keep in mind they have a different audience than we do, so it's a great chance for me to tap into their market and them to tap into our market even if we're both in the same industry. They often have different lists, and that'll be the same for your industry, so partner up with other people.
Strategy 5, run a contest. Did you know that contest signs have a 3.7% higher conversion rate than other CTAs? If you start a contest and invite people to participate, they will. Think about what part of your product suite you can give away; maybe it's a consultation or a free blog. Sometimes my company will offer incentives like that, such as the hour consultation with Neil Patel, when people sign up for a contest.
Also, I want you to choose something that you can market that will get people engaged and start a sweepstake that requires them to sign up using their email address, and then, boom, you've got a ton of new subscribers to your list that you can target and segment down the road. Amazon SEO - Tutorial For Beginners
Amazon SEO, here's a tutorial for beginners. Have you ever heard of the advertising triathlete? It's people talking about Google ads, Facebook ads, and Amazon ads. Amazon is the powerhouse that most marketers take for granted, especially when it comes down to SEO. So, let's go over how you can optimize your Amazon listings so they can rank higher in Amazon search. But before we begin, you need to understand the two main components of Amazon SEO.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
The first component is keywords. Are you targeting the right keywords, the ones people are typing in? And when they type those keywords in, would they expect to see your product? If not, those are the wrong keywords.
The second thing that you need to understand is sales velocity. The more you sell, and if you're selling at a higher percentage than your competition and at a faster rate, you will rank higher. After all, Amazon gets a cut from every sale you make. So why wouldn't they want to rank the listings higher that outperform the competition, because it makes them more money. So let's go over your listing in detail and the changes you need to make to rank higher when it comes down to SEO.
So, tip number one, optimizing your title. Typically, you'll have to include a few things in your title for them to perform well. They are brand, model type and number, product type, size and quantity, power output requirements, color, and design. Now, these may not be all applicable to your title, but a lot of those elements may be.
Now, I can keep going over all these types, but Amazon provides them to you, so I'm not going to bore you with all of them. But as you can see, the more specific you get, the better off you'll do and use Amazon's examples to help you out, because they're telling you what performs the best because they want your listing to perform the best so they make more money.
See, Amazon SEO's very different than Google SEO. People click on a Google result that's SEO-driven, it's not like Google makes more money unless you have AdSense on your website. They do what's best for users. With Amazon SEO, just like their paid ads, if people click on them and they buy, they make more money, so they want to help you rank higher because it helps them make more money.
Tip number two, optimize your description. You don't want to rewrite your product description, right? If you just do that, it's not going to do well. A well-crafted product description, though, is one that does not just merely mimic what was written in the product title, but it expands upon it in detail and makes the benefits the focal point of the text.
Customers on Amazon typically hate reading large chunks of text. So make sure you have a product description that's concise as possible. No one wants to read two, three sentences or five sentences when it could've just been done in one.
Tip number three, bullets, no one wants to read a lot of text when it comes to bullets. Bullets are a simple way to get your main message across. And here's some tips when crafting bullets. First, outline. It's your job as a entrepreneur or a marketer to make sure bullet points are written differently from your title and description. Focus on your best product attributes within your bullets. Focus on one benefit per bullet point. That way, they're easier to read.
Tip four, take amazing high-quality photos. And one photo isn't enough. The more details your photos have and the higher quality they are, the better off you are. Taking studio-quality photos is preferred over just taking photos with your phone. Make sure you also take multiple photos with different angles, so that way, people can see the product in different viewpoints.
Tip five, use popular keywords. You can use tools like Ubersuggest to come up with popular keywords. Go into Ubersuggest and type in any keyword related to what you're selling.
I also, on that page, I want you to click on the different tabs, like Related, Questions, and Prepositions. This is where you'll find a lot more keywords. Many of them are based on what people are interested in. This will give you ideas on what to focus on and what not to focus on.
Tip six, focus on reviews. As I mentioned earlier, sales velocity is a big part of your Amazon rankings. And people buy based on reviews. You don't want to cheat the system and create fake reviews, but the more good reviews and real reviews you get, the better off you are.

Here’s What Google Classifies as Helpful Content
By now you know about Google's helpful content update. It's all about how Google wants you to create content for humans and not search engines which makes sense because no one wants to read content there's just stuff with keywords and doesn't make sense. Today, I wanted to break down seven ways to make your content more helpful.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Way number one, only write on what you know. Over the years, I've created websites on a lot of different topics, from medical to financial, to even poker, but here's issue, I'm not an expert in any of those topics. Hence, none of those websites did really amazing. Well, sure, some of them ranked really high on Google for the short run, but they still didn't do amazingly well. Back then, Google's algorithm was much easier, but still, people didn't really care as much for my content because it wasn't amazing. It was just average. Why, because I wasn't an expert and I truly didn't understand those topics, but most of the content that I produce on marketing, it does well. Why? As you guess, because I know that topic inside and out, I know it super well so I can write extremely well on it compared to most people.
Way number two, Google wants you to focus your content on a specific industry or niche. As Google stated in the past, they prefer that you don't create lots of content on different topics.
Way number three, make sure your content is executable. If someone reads your content and they don't have a specific takeaway and they don't know what to do next, you're failing with your content then. What I like to do is end my articles with a summary and that summary is of the learnings and I express that summary through a conclusion and I make it very clear with key takeaways. I also label my conclusion with the word conclusion as a heading, so that way, it's clear in case someone wants to just skim your article.
Way number four, continually update your content. Things change over time. You don't assume that if you write a piece of content it will keep getting traffic. As things get stale, your traffic will go down. It sucks, but it's the reality, so you want to keep your content up to date and fresh and relevant so it provides users with the best experience possible. When updating your content, it's not about how much you change, it's more about, what do you need to change to make it amazing?
Try to update your content at least once a year. I like having my team go through our content at least once a quarter, if not twice a year, on the worst absolute case if we're super busy.
Way number five, add in your secret sauce. What do you know that others don't? What have you experienced that others haven't? By adding in your secret sauce and your personal experiences, you are more likely to get social shares, back links and generate more traffic. If you're just regurgitating what everyone else is already saying, then there's nothing that will be unique. So in every piece of content, try to add in your personal experiences.
Way number six, appeal to all different types of readers. Some people like skimming, some people love reading. Some people love watching videos. Some people like listening and some people are visual learners. In other words, use things like videos, infographics, images and anything else that you think can help improve the experience. Just look at this image that breaks down how fast a chetah runs. Yes, the topic's been beat to death but the visuals make it different and easier to really comprehend how fast a chetah runs.
Way number seven, do your keyword research. I want you to head over to Ubersuggest and type in a keyword related to the topic that you're focusing on. For this example, I'm using the term digital marketing. In the left hand navigation, I want you to click on keyword ideas. This is where you can find a lot of different keywords.
I want you to click on the tab, like related, questions, preposition. This is where you'll find a lot of keywords and many of them are based on what people are interested in. Integrating some of those concepts into your topic will help ensure that your content is thorough and will help you rank higher because it will be better than your competition who didn't take the time to be thorough.

How Google Uses NLP and How You Can Too With Your SEO
Have you noticed that when you search on Google, in most cases, they know what you're looking for? It's because they're using NLP. NLP stands for Natural Linguistic Processing. This helps Google understand that when you search for terms like Apple, are you actually looking for the food or the computer company that sells phones. They use NLP in their algorithm updates just like BERT and MUM. Here's a rough overview of NLP and how it's used by search engines.
RESOURCES & LINKS:
____________________________________________
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
You first have speech recognition, text to speech and speech to text. Then you have extracting the meaning of sentences and parts of sentences or phrases, such as adjectives like, "Too short," or propositional phrases like, "To the house." Then you have recognizing basic forms of words and acquisition of grammatical information. Then you got recognizing functions of individual words in a sentence, such as a subject, a verb, objective, or even an article. Then you have segmenting previously captured speech into individual words, sentences, and phrases. Without boring you with all the details, search engines are using NLP to figure out what your content's all about and matching it to what people or searchers want. This means their rankings aren't just going to be based off of keywords.
So when you're doing your SEO, don't think about keywords, but more so think about topics. What is everything that you need to cover on a specific webpage to be thorough about your topic, and to make sure people are like, "Whoa, this article covered everything. "I don't need to go to another source." That way, there's no uncertainty for the reader or visitor. So how do you do this?
First off, I want you to head over to Ubersuggest, and type in a keyword related to the topic you're focusing on. And you'll want to do this with all the main keywords that the topic that you're covering is about. For example, I'm using here the term digital marketing. In the left-hand navigation, I want you to click on keyword ideas. This is where you can find a lot of different keywords. I want you to click on the different tabs, related questions, and prepositions. This is where you'll find a lot more keywords, and many of them are based on NLP. Integrating some of those words and concepts into your topics will help ensure that your content is thorough, which will help you rank higher.
Now, if some of those keywords aren't related to the topic that you're covering, don't include them. Don't just add in these keywords for the sake of trying to get more traffic. Make sure you're focusing on the best user experience.
The next step I want you to take is to use an AI writer in the lab section of Ubersuggest. The AI writer uses NLP to figure out what people are looking for related to any keyword. Now, the AI writer won't write a whole article for you and I wouldn't publish it in its form. But it'll give you a start and save you around half the time it takes of writing content. So head over to the AI writer on the left-hand navigation.
From there, put in the keyword you want the article to be about. For this example, I selected the term marketing. Then select a title that works for you. Then select a meta description that works for you from the list provided. Then select a few headings.
Now, keep in mind when you're selecting the title, the meta description, the headings, keep in mind you can modify this later on. So it doesn't have to be perfect. And once you go to the final step, boom, within seconds, Ubersuggest will spit out an article for you.
Again, I wouldn't recommend publishing that article in this current state, but you can use it as a starting route. Fill in the rest, modify it, shift around how things are laid out. Add some images, videos, expand upon the text. In other words, make it so amazing, people won't need to read another article. And that's how you can use NLP to improve your SEO.

Here’s What Facebook and Google Aren’t Telling You About Your Ads
Marketing has turned into omnichannel approach in which you drive traffic and sales through multiple channels, not just one. And in marketing, they talk about this thing called the rule of seven, which reinforces omnichannel. What the rule of seven is about is when someone hears or sees or interacts with your brand seven times, they're more likely to convert in a customer, evangelize your brand, love it, tell people about it and that's why you want to take an omnichannel approach because it's hard to get in touch with one person through the same channel over and over again.

Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
But there's an issue When you start leveraging multiple channels which one is responsible for the conversions? Is it Google? Is it Facebook? Is it Instagram, Twitter, email? How do you know which channel is producing you the most ROI?
Well, there's the issue which how each of these platforms from Google to Facebook report on conversions. Let's say someone comes to your website from an organic LinkedIn post, then they subscribe to your newsletter. You then send them a few emails, they click on some of them, come back to your website At this point, they still haven't bought from you. And then they do a search on Google. They click on your paid ad that's at the top of Google. They go through, they check out your website, maybe even add some props to the landing page or read your services page, but they still don't convert. You then see them coming back to your website because they clicked on one of your tweets or bio in on Twitter. And now they come back to your website and they complete their purchase.
Do you think Google shows that they caused that conversion from, let's call it Twitter or do you think it shows that they were responsible for that conversion and it came from their ad? Of course, they show that it comes from their ad. Facebook and pretty much all paid platforms do the same. If someone clicks on one of these paid ads and they don't convert right away, but then they come back through some other channel, even if they found your website before you did that paid advertising, they'll tell you that they were responsible for that conversion.
There's nothing wrong with this, but you ideally need to attribute your conversion to multiple channels to figure out what's accurately driving you revenue and what isn't. And before I get into how you can do that in Google Analytics, let me break down the common attribution models that you can use.
There's Last Click. This is historically the default that just gives all the credit to the last click before someone converted. Then you have Time Decay. This gives credit based on the time between the interactions. Then you have Linear. This gives equal credit across each step of the conversion path. And then there's Position-Based. This typically gives credit to specific steps in the conversion path, usually the first and the last one. Then you have First Click All the credit from the first interaction, typically used to drive awareness to your website. And then you have Data-Driven. This uses historical data to determine the attribution credit. This model will shift depending on the unique path.
There isn't one right or even wrong approach to use. I typically use Position-Based myself which typically gives credit to the first touch and the last touch. First touch being how someone first found your website and last touch being on what is the last entry source that they came through before they converted. Sometimes people come to your website the first time and they convert right away and sometimes they don't.
But that's why I love using this model because it gives me, Hey, what are the main two drivers of the conversion? Now here's how you adjust your attribution in Google Analytics. First click on admin, then I want you to click on attribution settings. Then click on the model you want to choose. And if you want, you can choose position-based, like me or any other option. Now you'll get a better idea of what is driving your revenue.

5 Quick Ways to Get More Instagram Likes
I've been running a lot of Instagram experiments, not only on my Neil Patel account, but also on 38 other accounts in a variety of different industries. If you want to see some of these experiments in real time, then just follow me on Instagram. My username is NeilPatel. Either way, I'm going to break down my learnings here that will help you get more likes. So let's dive right in.

CodeCanyon: https://codecanyon.net/
Ubersuggest: https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
____________________________________________
Hack number one, go live. So even though the popularity of live content is growing and people want it more, people on Instagram though aren't creating as much of it. If you go live twice a week, you'll find that you'll get more engagement and more followers. Then when you post content, more people will see it and will like it. But here is the issue though, if the content you're going live with isn't great, it won't work. So you can't just go live for the sake of going live, you need to plan ahead on what you're going to show or talk about and how that's going to add a lot of value to all the people listening in, that way going live produces more followers and eventually when you post more content, you'll get more likes because you got more followers, and those people are super engaged.
Hack number two, get influencers to comment on your post. One signal that Instagram uses to figure out how much to show your content is based on who's engaging with your content. It's not hard to network with other Instagram users.
Some of them will also be Instafamous. Don't ask for anything crazy from them, especially from these friends of yours, other than just asking them, hey, leave a good comment on your post. And what I mean good comment, I mean one that creates engagement.
I would want to make sure that they're in a relevant industry, field, and they can leave comments like that based on their own experience, that's what does really well. And when others leave a comment on your posts, and ideally within the first hour of them going live, you'll get much, much more likes, because your post will be shown to a lot of your non followers. In essence, Instagram will use their algorithm to show to other people that they think may be interested in it.
Hack number three, use music from memes and trends. Have you ever noticed that when you like a reel from a meme or a trend, you could generally see more of that video or other similar ones that contain the same music? This happens to me all the time, especially with those dancing videos.
The key to doing this strategy is to do it right when you see a new trend popping off. So if you see this new popular dance video or new trend popping off and everyone's using that same music, that's when you need to jump on it.
Hack number four, ask for a like. I know this sounds simple, but asking for a like is a great way to get more likes. But you just don't want to ask for a like, because there's actually a slicker way to do it. Ask people to either tag a friend, double tap, leave a comment, share this post with a friend, drop an emoji if you agree, or just like the post, which is the most simplest form of it. And every time we've tested this, on average, we get roughly 38.45% more likes. That's huge!
Hack number five, use carousels. For some weird reason, people like writing long captions on their Instagram posts. You know, you'll have your post, but then people have this long text description. People using Instagram, use it on mobile devices primarily, which means they're not going to read that long caption. Maybe you'll get a few percent of the people to do it, but most won't. But here's the thing with Instagram, they have this feature where you can add multiple images to one post. In essence, it's a carousel. Just look at this example. You can see how we can swipe through and go from image to image. Those posts on average are getting 49.22% more engagement.
The carousels can have a lot of words or a little, but as long as the content is good, it'll do well. And here's one example from Codie that did extremely well. Here's the trick that she used to get more likes. She co-published it with another account. In other words, she published it from her own personal account and her business account called UnconventionalAcquisitions.
Now, you may not have multiple accounts, that's okay. But you can do a collaboration with someone else and you both can post the same carousel image and it'll get way more engagement.
