Why I’m Waiting For The Next Stock Market Crash
I want to explain why I'm waiting for the next stock market crash, hopefully in 2020!

I can not tell you how many people ask me, Cooper, what are you doing in the stock market? The answer that I give, no one seems to expect it. I’m waiting for a stock market crash… Now, there’s a couple of key reasons why I’m doing this, which makes me hold off from buying stocks and instead wait for a crash. Let’s dig straight in…
The first thing I need to talk about is sky high prices and market cycles.
For those who don’t know we are currently less than 5% away from all-time market highs. The S & P 500, which gives the best measure for the USA’s stock market is sitting at around 3,200 points, that’s not far at all away from the peak.
Now a lot of people look at this and think aw, that’s such a good thing. The economy is booming, stocks are up, surely investors are happy. And it’s true a lot of investors are absolutely gleaming at how high the stock market is.
But investors like Warren Buffett and myself, we look at things slightly differently. We are less happy when stock prices go up and more happy when stock prices go down. Now for some people this might sound confusing but stick with me.
What Warren Buffett and I truly focus on is the underlying business. Are they generating more income, revenue and assets. How is their business model going and how will it look like in the future? These are the types of things which we hope to go up. But, the stock price, we want that to go down as far as possible. This way we can purchase, great solid underlying businesses for cheap prices.
But you might look at me and say Cooper, yes that makes total sense, but why aren’t you buying stocks now. Why are you holding off and waiting? There is no guarantee of a stock market crash.
That is a very good question, but to answer that I want to back to talking about the underlying business. Right now, in the stock market if you look at a lot of their underlying businesses, you can see they’re struggling.
For example, everyone in the travel industry. Nobody is really travelling these days, because of this shutdown. This results in every business in the travel industry being affected. And losing business losing customers.
I mean we all saw, Warren Buffett, he completely sold all of his stocks in airline companies. They just lost so much business and so many customers and the question became are they worth holding on to, Warren Buffett though not.
But then don’t forget it’s not just airline companies, and it’s not just businesses involved in the travel industry. Small and medium sized businesses across the USA have been deeply impacted. I mean less people have been going for coffees or going out to eat. Less people are going to the movies, or the ice rink.
Business across the USA have lost a lot of customers. Now what is the flow on affect from this? It means businesses bottom line go down. It means the amount of profit that they generally make, get’s eaten into. Investors like myself, who focus on the underlying businesses look at this, and think, if I’m going to invest in stocks like these, well at least I want to be paying a cheap price for them. And at the moment prices are nowhere near close to cheap. As I mentioned before they’re actually close to all time highs.
It puts us investors in this weird situation where the economy is down by 6%, the underlying businesses of stocks are struggling yet the prices for these stocks, are sky rocket high. The value investors like myself and Buffett, are just staying on the sideline because of this.
And a lot of people will be looking at us thinking, what are you doing? Look at the returns you’ve missed out on. But they don’t understand this one simple principle of investing. And that is you make money with investing, not through constant buying and selling, but through waiting.
Charlie Munger he put’s it best. He said this… “you don’t make money when you buy stocks. You don’t make money when you sell stocks. You make money while you wait”.
Most people do not have the patience to wait for a couple of years to buy stocks and that is why so many people fail at investing. A simple lack of being able to wait…

Why The Stock Market Is Rising But The Economy Is Falling
In this video we show you the reasons why the stock market is rising while the economy is falling. Very weird times, let's delve into it!

For those who have been keeping track of the economy and the stock market, I’m sure you would have noticed, something very weird has been happening.
So on one hand you look at the stock market and you’d think we’re in the most productive stage possible. Over the last 2 months it is up by 35%!
However when you look at the economy how much businesses are actually producing, that is down. In the first quarter of 2020, the economy has shrunk by 4.8%, and in the 2nd quarter it’s predicted to shrink by a further 30%.
So it’s very weird times that we’re in. the stock market, the way people price businesses is up massively, but those businesses are producing less. And not just a little bit less, a whole lot less compared to last year and other previous years. What I want to do in this video is answer why! Why is this contradictory behavior happening!?
Let me explain. You see the way we measure how the economy is going, is through a figure called GDP. Gross Domestic Product. This measures the total value of goods produced and services provided in a country during one year.
As you can see up until 2019 this was growing at a steady rate. The economy was doing what it was supposed to do, and that is producing more and more each year. Until 2020 comes along, and something that no one could have ever predicted occurred.
A illness swept throughout the world, causing governments to take extreme action. Citizens were forced to stay at home. Businesses had to shut, and the economy basically halted in its tracks. This is what’s known as a black swan event.
Now, because people weren’t buying as much & businesses were shut, nothing was getting produced. So Gross domestic product, GDP, the figure that measures the economy went down dramatically! As I mentioned earlier it’s down 4.8% in the first quarter of 2020 for USA. This number is expected be -30% in the 2nd quarter of this year. (2)
But Obviously it’s not just the USA that’s been affected. It’s the whole world. The reason that we always use the USA as the benchmark is because it is the biggest economy.
As you can see this is GDP by country for 2017. USA is by some margin the biggest economy compared to everyone else. And the 2020 figures aren’t going to be looking nice, we can say that for sure.
But it’s not just the USA that’s been affected. China the 2nd largest economy in the world that’s obviously been affected as well. They had a massive halt in terms of the economy. It’s the same with Germany, Italy, the UK etc. The virus has impacted all of these countries. But let’s bring our focus back to the USA.
The USA’s economy is down and what we also need to mention, so is employment. People have lost a lot of jobs due to this poor economy.
As you can see the unemployment claims were normal at the start of this year. And then the end of March, April comes along and spike, the benefit claims shot up. It almost hit the 7 million mark in one week. As I say very interesting times.
Unemployment is now sitting at 14.7%. Which is up from just 3.5% at the start of this year. So I think it’s fair to say that economically we’re all battling.
But now we need to move on to the second part of the equation which is the stock market. The stock market, after it’s initial dip, is now up over 35%!
The S & P 500 has climbed almost 800 points, starting to come close to the all time high at 3,036 points.
The Dow Jones similar story it’s up almost 7,000 points, to a total of 25,500.
And USA’s last major index is also up. It’s up by over 400 points, over the past 2 months.

Buffett Has Been Selling Stocks In 2020: Here’s Why
In this video we try uncover the underlying reasons why Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway has been selling stocks in 2020...

When we look at Warren Buffett’s stock moves in 2020, something glaringly obvious pops out, Buffett has got rid of a lot of his stocks. With his investing firm Berkshire Hathaway
he sold over 19 out of his 69 stocks in the first quarter of 2020 alone. This now leaves him with 50 stocks left in his portfolio.
One major question must be asked. Why did Buffett behave in a completely different way to which he normally would. Normally Buffett is by a far a net buyer of stocks, every single year. Why is 2020 different?
The first thing we need to talk about is the underlying economy. There is a stark difference between the economy of 2019, and the economy of 2020. Let me explain…
I don’t know if you guys remember the headlines of 2019 but it was all about the strong economy. It was the longest bull market in history, jobs had grown for 106 consecutive months, the unemployment rate was low at 4%, by most measures the economy was firing.
It was kind of like Trumps claim to fame, certainly if you looked at it his twitter account he was not afraid to talk about the economy.
But now fast forward to 2020. A crisis occurred, that no one could have predicted. A virus swept throughout the world, causing countries to go on lockdown, businesses to shut and people could no longer work. And I’ll give you 2 guesses on what this did to the economy...
Yup you guessed it, the economy basically halted in its tracks… First quarter of 2020, instead of growing like it normally does, it shrunk by 4.8%. But what’s even more startling then this, Is experts predict the 2nd quarter of 2020 to be a lot worse. They’re predicting around a 30% decrease in GDP, when the true effects of the virus and lockdown start to sink in… (1)
So if you think about it, In 2019 when Warren Buffett was buying a lot of stocks, it was a totally different ball game. Because the economy was on fire then.
And when the economy is going well, what does this mean? It means businesses are producing a lot of output and therefore making a lot of money. And at the end of the day, this is exactly what us investors look for in a business, how much money are you making…?
2019 the answer to this question was we’re on fire. We’re producing a lot and earnings are high. But 2020 it’s a totally different story with regards to output and profit. This is a key reason why Buffett’s stock moves have been totally different to last year. The economy just isn’t the same…
But this does leave, one bulging question which comes at us. Hang on. Isn’t Buffett’s strategy to buy when everyone is panicking. Aren’t some of his most famous words to “be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy”. Surely this means Buffett would be buying a lot of stocks during these times? Not so soon. There is something else I need to show you…
You see the reason why Buffett likes to buy when everyone is fearful is because normally stock prices are down big during these times. However the interesting thing that is happening, is that stock prices have been going up.
Over the past 2 months, stocks are up over 35%. It would appear that investors are not fearful in the least. In-fact they’re bullish. Overall after all of this has happened stocks are only 10% down from their all-time highs! (2)
So we’re in this weird phenomena where the economy has been getting absolutely destroyed yet the stock market is up. We’re not seeing the cheap prices in which we normally would, when the economy takes a downturn.
Because Buffett is basically the epitome of value investing and waiting for good deals, his company Berkshire Hathaway is staying on the side line and has in-fact sold a lot of stocks…
But this isn’t the only reason why he’s behaving so differently in the stock market… This is just the recent events that have happened. It’s kind of like the cracks in the iceberg. But we can’t ignore the fact that the iceberg was already unstable in the first place…

Buffett Has Not Bought Any Stocks In 2020 & The Reasons Behind It Are Frightening
In this video I want to go over the reasons why Warren Buffett has not bought any stocks in 2020 and is in fact net selling!

When it comes to looking at the stock market or the economy, one of the go to guys that all of us investors look at, is Warren Buffett. He owns the worlds biggest investing firm Berkshire Hathaway and he’s outperformed the stock market by a long way.
Now, recently he held his annual shareholder meeting, where he gives his thoughts on the stock market, the economy and on the stocks that he’s buying and selling. But the unique thing about this shareholder meeting, was that Warren Buffett revealed that he has not bought any stocks in 2020. In-fact Berkshire Hathaway his investing firm has been a net seller of stocks.
Obviously one of those big group of stocks that Buffett sold was all of his airline companies. Delta, American Airlines, Southwest and United Airlines. Entirely sold. Which clearly came as big surprise to most investors.
But, what I want to talk about in this video, is first I want to go through the stocks that he’s selling at Berkshire Hathaway. But more importantly I want go over the underlying reasons why Buffett has not bought any stocks and in fact is a net seller. Very important video this one…
So let’s start by showing you Warren Buffetts biggest stock sale obviously apart from his airline stocks. And I’m surprised no ones really talking about this… He’s sold off most of his position in the bank Goldman Sachs. He previously owned 12 million shares in the company and he sold over 10 million of those shares. That’s 84% of his holdings…
Buffett said that if economic difficulties become severe enough "even strong banks can be under a lot of stress, and we'll be very glad we've got the Federal Reserve system, standing behind them."
So I don’t know exactly how to read into this, but let’s just say I personally would not want to be a Goldman Sachs shareholder at this point in time.
But Goldman was not the only bank sold, also 3% of Berkshires JP morgan was let go as well. Now this is nowhere near close to the 84% sale in Goldman sachs, but still it’s something to think about.
Another stock on the sale list was Sirius Xm the broadcasting company. Berkshire sold almost $4 million shares in them.
Other big names on the selling list for Berkshire were Amazon the e-commerce company. General Motors the vehicle company and Philips 66 the energy company was 100% sold as well.
And yes, there were more companies sold by Berkshire Hathaway but we don’t have the time to go over them all. The big question on everyone’s lips however, is why? Why has Buffett sold so many stocks and purchased nothing?
There’s a couple of fundamental reasons and I want to get into them now…
The first thing you need realise is it’s not like Warren Buffett doesn’t have any cash so that he cannot buy any stocks. No. He’s actually got $137 billion dollars of cash on the side-line, waiting to be deployed.
And Buffett said himself he wants to deploy quite a bit of this. He said and I quote ““We are willing to do something very big. I mean you could come to me on Monday morning with something that involved $30, or $40 billion or $50 billion. And if we really like what we are seeing, we would do it,”. But at the moment, “we haven’t seen anything that attractive.”
And that’s the first key reason why Buffet is not buying any stocks. Because he can’t find anything attractive to buy, at the current stock prices.
