Directories: I made a directories page on my blog site, like an online yellow pages, but better. Its purpose is to encourage a more connected community. Everyone's time is precious. Why not have a central place to find information so that you can go about your day with more important matters? Information includes: events, workshops, livestream schedules, channels/websites, people in the community, items for sale, services available, wanted ads, and faith-based fellowship! Please consider adding your name/business to the directory and sharing with others! The directories will be available both as downloads directly from the site (with dates of the latest update) as well a free email if you choose. They will become available as soon as I have any submissions from people to put in them; right now all are blank. Thank you!

Journey to Lose 100 + Pounds - Claymation Exercise - Health Journey Update Jan 2022
Hello!
I am on a journey to lose over 100 pounds (lbs) to be healthy for the first time in my life. Although I've blogged about my journey before, this is the first video I've made. In it I bring you up to date about my overall journey, current weight, and things I've learned so far. I also include tools that I've found helpful.
I've added Mrs. Claymore, my helpful clay assistant, to showcase some of the moves from Up To The Beat Fitness workout videos. This is my first stop motion / claymation video, but I'm sure I will improve.
I hope you enjoy the video! I also hope that you are inspired by my health journey update! Anyone can improve their health, just make small changes, small habits, in their day.
A transcript of this video can be found on my blog

Music Theory: Key Signatures in 1 Minute
A simply easy key signature chart (no circle of 5ths) that includes all of the relative minors! All you have to do is remember:
1) BEAD GCF
2) C major has 0 flats
3) 'a minor' is the relative minor of C major
My piano teacher taught me this when I was a kid. I have no idea what this chart is called. I had noticed through the years that nobody else seemed to use this chart. When I recently came across a note in my music theory book scribbled from a frustrated student ("Isn't there a faster way of doing this?" - next to the circle of 5ths), I decided to share this chart.
If you know what this chart is called, please tell me.
And no, I don't understand the circle of 5ths. I have my chart memorized and it is just what I need for now. : )
Background music is freebie. : )
If you have looked at my other videos and website, and are wondering why I put this seemingly out-of-place post about music theory: I used to be an actively involved musician. I did play gigs and had a good instructor, even taught a few students myself, etc, but ...didn't happen. Insert life, life, and more life. (complicated, decisions, things beyond my control, etc.) Currently, I am working on practicing my instruments at home daily (it's a goal) and studying a bit of music theory. Yes I have tried to join a group to play music with (oy was that an odd story). Yes I have tried transcribing (writing down other musicians' music so that they could have sheet music for sale since they were busy composing). It was fun, but...life (people can really stink sometimes)...so I guess I'm not doing that either. So now I just play music at home.
Shalom!

Tostaditas Corn Chips
Making tostaditas / corn chips is surprisingly easy to do. If you are able to get your thin corn tortillas and oil from a restaurant supply store (our local store is open to the public), you can definitely save money. The actual process is very simple. I’ve included several safety tips and suggestions to help you make tasty tostaditas!
I'll show you how to make these easy chips in the Hermitage kitchen!
I am not liable for any accidents or injury that might happen to anyone or anyone’s property as a result of trying to make corn chips. Always use caution around hot oil.
I am not liable for the numerous requests for homemade chips you will get after you try this recipe!

DIY Restaurant Vinaigrette (How my 10-year conundrum was fixed in 5 minutes)
MIY Make-It-Yourself Restaurant-Quality Vinaigrette (never eat bland salads again)
Learn how to make restaurant-quality vinaigrette (salad dressing)
Plus, hear how a 10 year thorn in my side was removed with just a blender and 5 minutes
שלם וברוכה הבאה! Today we’re in the Hermitage kitchen, where I’ll show you how to make restaurant-quality salad dressing, a fruity vinaigrette with lots of flavor. If you’re tired of eating bland salads at home while craving them at a restaurant, the secret is emulsification. All you need is a good blender, ingredients, and about five minutes.
Let’s get started!
To hear my story of how I went for more than a decade eating bland salads, go to the 9:25 mark.
You will need:
Blender (suitable for liquids)
Vinegar (white, apple cider, red wine, etc.)
Oil (olive oil recommended)
Water (optional, to dilute; don’t use too much!)
Fruit juice (optional for flavor, don’t use too much!)
Fruit jam (optional for flavor)
*Berries (flavor, properties of berries help the emulsification process)
Spices (onion, oregano, dill, parsley, etc.)
Bottle for storing.
My story of how I went for more than a decade of eating bland salads (and disliking them at home) because I didn’t know one fact. (emulsification)
It really is all about the sauce, to re-quote a phrase I hear so often. I loved the salads at restaurants and would even crave getting some at the grocery store deli. But, I was too embarrassed to order them often. We rarely ate out - why would I spend money on what I could make at home? I wanted to like salads at home just as much as I did going out to eat, but my dressing was disappointment in a bottle. I drizzled on my hope for flavor, only to find that hope pooled at the bottom of the plate. I wanted to like salads. I wanted to eat healthy. I couldn’t figure out why my dressing wouldn’t stick to the salad ingredients, leaving me with raw vegetables sitting in a pool of colorful, inaccessible flavor. This went on for over a decade.
You may ask, how did this tradition of sad, bland salads get started? I’ll tell you: I don’t know. (Fiddler on the Roof)
The past decade+ is when God delivered me and has been helping me build a beautiful life. I’ve been learning many things that I should have learned much earlier, including nutrition and fitness. I don’t buy dressing because I don’t eat egg (almost all dressings have egg white) and I got tired of trying to find the single one that I could have. Plus, not buying extras like dressing saves money.
I didn’t figure this out earlier because I didn’t take the time to think about it nor talk about it. It turns out that Himmit knew the secret to great dressings all along. He just thought I wanted to eat salads with no taste (and suffered through them along with me). If I had just talked about it, shared my thoughts even about ordering salads in the restaurant because they were so much better (and I didn’t know why)...if only.
Now that we finally have had that conversation about emulsification and salad dressing (thank God), I am making up for lost time!
So that is my story about a 10 year thorn in my side that was removed by using a blender for five minutes.
Thank you for listening. I hope you learned something new about salad dressing and the importance of being circumspect (and communicating!).

Mrs. Hermit Introduction
About Mrs. Hermit, and this Channel's purpose. Shalom!
Transcript:
Shalom! You can call me Hermit or Mrs. Hermit. (Note: that’s just a nickname for privacy.) I will not be showing my face or name here nor on my website for privacy reasons. Himmit is my husband (also a nickname).
I hope to make a Channel that encourages and inspires other quiet, faith-filled homemakers like me. My life looks quiet and mundane, like a hermit. I work out my faith journey at home (Himmit and I haven’t found a community). I find lessons in the mundane. I enjoy learning how to make what is useful, but also what can be helpful for the soul. Sometimes seeing something pretty during a dreary day can uplift the soul, like a rose petal left just for you by God along your Pilgrim journey to the High Places. (referencing these books: “Pilgrim’s Progress” by John Bunyan, and “Hind’s Feet on High Places” by Hannah Hurnard)
A little about me: I’m quiet, very reserved, and modest. I’m obese but am currently making life changes to lose 100lbs, just from diet and exercising like following Gina B's Up To the Beat Fitness; Sharona's Hill Youtube workouts, and Leslie Sansone’s Walk at Home 15 minute videos (https://walktv.walkathome.com/catalog Get fit with me!). I don’t wear makeup, I cover my hair, and wear tzitzit.
My skin color is around a Pantone 4029C (https://www.pantone.com/color-finder ), and if that is utmost in your mind, this is probably not the Channel for you.
My faith is best described as a mixture of Jewish and Christian. Himmit and I don’t agree with following traditions without being circumspect. I am a follower of the Nazarene, Yeshua. HE is my Savior, my Rabbi, my Shepherd, my God. There is only one God. All have sinned and fallen short. We need to repent, to be changed, redeemed. I worship at home with Himmit (nickname), my husband. My role in life, along with being a housewife, is to be a hermit. Sometimes I serve as a sort of bartender in the lounge of life, trying to help those who pass on by.
My past is a wondrous story of God’s continued deliverance and mercies, which are new every morning. I grew up in an unhappy, dysfunctional family, and as Tolstoy wrote, “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way”. I didn’t have a normal childhood and didn’t learn much growing up. I think we all miss certain lessons. We are all ignorant of what we don’t know. I’d like to share with you the things I’ve learned and am learning that I hope will be helpful and inspiring. Like everyone else, I’m not perfect. But I’ve found that trying matters to God, and I hope that we can inspire each other to persevere and endure to the end.
In addition to homemaking, I like to sew, machine knit, play musical instruments, learn Hebrew, and read. I do crochet and some other crafts from time to time. My hopeful prayer is to homestead, but right now that isn’t God’s will for us.
I have a website that not only has more helpful Reflections and Tutorials, but a Blessings page with items made by me and others (as well as some crafting supplies) for the asking, and a Community Board. Please check it out! https://ideasfromthemaster.wixsite.com/hermits-reflections

God’s fingerprints are everywhere, in my life and yours. Don’t miss the still small voice! (1 Kings 19.11-13)
