Make a Macrame Valance from Manila Rope
Macrame curtains are so easy to make, and can be nautical, boho, hippie, retro or give a beach cottage vibe, depending on the cord or rope you use.
You can follow along with me and make your own, or just chill out watching the pattern form and listen to the beautiful music. I added chapters to make it easier to navigate.
Here are the DIY directions to make this cool valance or curtain with a thick, chunky manila rope.
The materals I used are;
16 - 25 foot lenghts of 3/8 inch manila rope
1 oar
I also used some cotton whipping cord to make the tassels
Attach you rope with larks head knots to the oar.
Make alternating square knots until it is the length you want, them reduce each side to make a point.
Half hitch down each side of the point.
Cut all the ends, leaving 2 at the points, which you can whip together to make tassesl.

The Mayflower II Heading Through the Mystic Drawbridge
The Mayflower II headed through the the drawbridge and down the Mystic River today on her way back to the Plymouth Town Dock.
How big is the Mayflower II?
Mayflower is a square-rigged vessel that is about 25 feet wide and 106 feet long, displacing 236 tons of water. She has four masts, including a mainmast, foremast, mizzen, and sprit, with a total of six sails.
For more information about the Mayflower, check out their website: https://plimoth.org/plan-your-visit/explore-our-sites/mayflower-ii
This is one of the really cool things about living in Mystic, seeing all the tall ships heading to the the Mystic Seaport for repairs and restoration.

Colliding Holidays and How to Tie a Constrictor Knot
March in review, colliding holidays with both Saint Patricks Day and Easter in the same month! We tied lots of bunnies, but also woven crosses, rope baskets and of course shamrocks!
I also included a little tutorial on how to tie a constrictor knot, we use it so often, it is probably the most tied knot in our knot shop.
The easter bunnies were new this year. We have tied the crosses for years, but they were definitely popular this March. It was our first official "Easter Season"
I also did some sailor knot tie dying, you can see that here if you would like to learn how: https://youtube.com/live/HeTbiBpVty4?feature=share
The knotmobile came out of hibernation, an Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite.

Heart Knot Shamrock Lapel Pin - getting another St Patrick’s Day all tied up
We are a creative bunch at Mystic Knotwork. This shamrock lapel pin is Cynthia's creation. She figured out that we can make little heart knots and attach them together into a shamrock!
St. Patrick's Day is a huge holiday in Mystic, everyone is always looking for celtic knot shamrocks, so these have been flying out the door. We also make shamrock keychains and shamrock wreaths. We have tutorials on how to make both of those.

How to tie a monkey fist knot rabbit - put on some Barry White music, turn off the lights, and the bunnies will multiply fast.
How to really tie a bunny? Tie some monkey fist knots, stitch them together, make some macrame ears, add a double overhand knot nose, place it on a turks head knot so it stands upright, and don't forget to add a little puffy cotton tail.
If you buy one, they can keep multiplying. https://mysticknotwork.com/collections/frontpage/products/monkey-fist-knot-easter-bunny

Make a sailor knot bracelet smaller - how to tighten down the knot
Did you make a sailor knot bracelet that came out too big? Here is a quick tutorial how to shrink it down.
This technique will only work on an unfinished bracelet with loose ends. You may not be able to shrink a bracelet you bought off the shelf, as the ends will be glued or tied down.
Make sure you start your loop right above where the two ends meet for the most even tightening all the way around.
