Easter Message
TMoLR is changing its name. That is a good thing. What is even better is you, the viewer and subscribers, will have a voice in the name change. I have a live poll in the Community Tab where you can vote on one of the three possible choices for the new name.
The more important aspect of this video is to share what Easter (Resurrection Day) is all about.

TMoLR TEXAS Extra - West of the Brazos Chamber of Commerce
I was invited to participate in a community meeting in Brazoria about a month ago. During that meeting, I brought up the idea of a West of the Brazos Chamber of Commerce. This is not my original idea; it is actually the brainchild of Dr. Bob from the Brazoria Heritage Foundation. I would like to hear from anyone from the communities West of the Brazos.

Liverpool, Texas
I visited historic Liverpool, Texas. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with my plans. The good thing is, I was still able to see some great historical markers, and potentially a missing marker. I will be going back to Liverpool to learn more about this fascinating town.

River Flooding
TMoLR Texas visits the Brazos and San Bernard Rivers following 3 days of heavy rainfall in southeast Texas. This is by no means a "historical flood". The purpose is to show the effects of heavy rain on the unhealthy San Bernard River. The program also takes a quick look at the same rain event and the effects on the Brazos River.

Fort Bend/Mirabeau B. Lamar
In the first excursion into Fort Bend County, I stop by the site of the "Old Fort", otherwise known as Fort Bend. I also look at a few things revolving around Mirabeau B. Lamar, former President of the Republic of Texas. The one constant in the majority of early Texas history makes an appearance here as well. Can you guess what that constant is?

Jones Creek
In our continuing journey through Texas History and Brazoria County, our next stop is the small town (village) of Jones Creek. Approximately 10 miles south of Brazoria on State Highway 36. The town is home to several historical markers and places. In this video, you will accompany me on a visit to Gulf Prairie Cemetery, original burial site of Stephen Fuller Austin, the Father of Texas. The cemetery also is the final resting place of many of the Bryan and Perry family members. The town is also situated between the Brazos and San Bernard Rivers.

San Bernard River 1
I have always had a deep love and appreciation for the Brazos River and, more or less, ignored the San Bernard River. With this video, that all changes. In this edition of TMoLR Texas, I travel to New Ulm, TX to find the beginning of the San Bernard River. There will be several stops concerning the San Bernard. Cat Springs, Sealy Road, East Bernard, FM 521, FM 2611, and finally, FM 522 in the Sweeny/Wild Peach area.

San Bernard River 2
In this week's video we return to the San Bernard River. We start at Hanson Riverside County Park just west of West Columbia. We then travel to the crossing at FM 1301. It is here where I make the alarming discovery that the San Bernard River changes drastically. What has caused this change? Could it be the Phillips 66 San Bernard Terminal? Finally, we close the video west of Needville, TX where the river crosses FM 442.

Brazos River part 1
In this episode we will explore the Brazos River Basin. All maps are property of the Brazos River Authority.
The Brazos River Basin covers 44,620 square miles in Texas and New Mexico. 42,000 square miles of the basin are in Texas. Depending on the source, the Brazos River is either the longest river in the state, or the 3rd longest river in the state. The Brazos River has several tributaries including the Navasota, Little, North Bosque, and Leon rivers. There are also 3 forks of the Brazos: Clear, Salt, and Double Mountain forks.
The Brazos is a very important river, not only in modern day, but in the over all history of Texas.
To learn more about the Brazos River, please visit the Brazos River Authority website at https://brazos.org

It Was on My Heart
During my last trip to San Felipe, TX, I was overtaken by a feeling, that I can only describe as, feeling "so small". This is a good thing! I realized that where we are and what we are is not only attributed to the people and events of Texas History, but the places. The places I speak of are the Brazos River that served as the superhighway between Washington-on-the-Brazos and the towns toward the Gulf of Mexico. San Felipe de Austin that was the headquarters of Austin's Colony. Velasco, Anahuac, the San Bernard River, and others are places that have seen more than we currently understand and know. It is past time that all Texans, native-born or transplant, honor, respect, love, and most importantly, preserve our state's history.
