Two more Belgian Draft Horses are safe from going to slaughter and are coming to the farm Ep. 56
Episode 56
On April 6th when we had Lucky at MVP for his surgery, I posted a quick video on Facebook before we went in for surgery. When I was posting the quick video, I saw a post from Bowie Texas Livestock about them getting in two Belgian Draft horses, one mare and one gelding. After we said goodbye to Lucky, I posted my blubbering mess of a live video to let you all know what happened with Lucky and I mentioned that we were looking to save two more horses. Cory and I talked it over along with the board members and we decided to save them in Lucky's honor. Lucky was the reason this foundation was started. Cory and I believe everything happens for a reason and there was a reason I saw that post.
The money we raised for Lucky's surgery was used to save these two beautiful horses. We will never stop fighting for these gentle giants. This was the reason we started this foundation...to save more lives! With your support and generous monetary donations we saved two more lives...possibly three!
Thank you for watching and we will keep everyone updated on two new arrivals along with an update on Liam after his vet appointment.

Update on Lucky
This was not the video we thought we would have to do today Lucky's cancer had spread to his lymph system and Dr. Brown found two additional tumors during his exam. In Lucky's best interest Cory and I made the difficult decision, along with Dr Brown and Dr Waggoner's advice, to help him find peace even though saying goodbye was not easy. The one tumor that Dr Brown had found in his outer guttural pouch was inoperable. Lucky's cancer was too far past a curable stage and he was in pain. I stayed for the surgery and under heavy sedation he would not let them touch his eye or the area surrounding it. Lucky had been in pain for quite some time, his strength and resilence hid what he was actually feeling. Dr Brown also said that the tumor had ruptured his eye globe at some point before we could rescue him. Lucky was the sweetest boy and we will have you in our heart forever, your memory will reside with us everyday for the rest of our time. It is hard to convey across a phone or TV screen the knowledge and energy share that occurs with these beautiful creatures. Cory and I are both blessed people to share this with all our Belgians even when that share is cut short by circumstances we don't understand. Run free sweet boy! WE love you always!

We were not expecting him to be in this condition! Update on the newest Rescued Belgian Draft horse
Episode 54
If you are new to our channel, on March 29th, we rescued another Belgian Draft horse from Bowie Texas Livestock. This gelding lot#9714 would be our second rescue to our new 501c3 non profit organization, Big Hoof Foundation. The video of him from the livestock yard showed that he was sore in his front legs but we had no idea what was happening with them. If you have not seen the original video see the link below.
The new boy is a giant (18.1 hands tall) and came in from a farm in Kentucky. He very well could be from the same farm the original 6 horses came from. When we arrived at the stockyard we were shocked to see the condition that he was in. His front legs were completely stiff and we are still trying to figure out how they got him to move like they did in the first video. This is a video of us picking him up and running him straight to the vet on the way home. We have decided to name the new giant guy Liam!
Liam's original announcement video
https://youtu.be/Vz5_5dl5LV8
The mission of our non profit is to save as many "big hoof" horse as we can from going to slaughter. We are dedicated to saving Draft Horses that have spent their entire lives working only to be neglected or abused when they can no longer work and are eventually sold to slaughter or abandoned to perish.
Thank you for watching and we will keep everyone updated on Liam and Lucky's progress. Stay tuned!
If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to help with Lucky's medical care or bail and transport for Liam, follow the below link to the Big Hoof Foundations temporary website! There is also a donate button in the top of our YouTube header.
Lucky's eye surgery looks to be more extensive then what we originally thought it would be. Baseline cost for just the surgery is $2000 to remove the tumor but we don't know the extent of what is in there until the veterinarians start the surgery. We want to make sure we have enough funds to cover the cost and anything additional that could arise, ex: extended vet stay at the hospital, etc.

Update on Lucky-rescued Belgian Draft Horse with a horrible eye injury after his 2nd vet appointment
Episode 52
If you are new to our channel, On Friday March 17th, while scrolling through Facebook I came across a horse that was scheduled to ship on the next slaughter truck to Mexico. The reason this horse stood out to me was because he had suffered horrible abuse. His right eye was missing and he was never given medical attention as the kill pen photos showed his eye covered in dried blood. There was no way I was going to let this poor animal suffer further by going to a slaughter house! So, we rescued him!
On Tuesday, March 21st, Cory and I drove 6 hours to Kemp, TX to pick him and we drove him straight to the vets office to get the medical attention he needs. Since he was rescued on St. Patricks Day we decided to name him Lucky.
From his first appointment Dr. Amber suspected he might have cancer because of the way his eye felt. She did X-rays and a biopsy of his eye and a spot on the side of his head because it looked abnormal to her. We received a partial report of the biopsy results and the spot on the back of his head did confirm he has cancer. With the results coming back positive for cancer we reached out to our other veterinarian, Dr. Waggoner to see if she could help with Lucky's diagnosis. We had an appointment on Monday and this is an update video our path moving forward with Lucky's treatment.

URGENT! Belgian Draft Horse with severe eye injury was scheduled to go to slaughter needs your HELP!
Episode 49
If you are new to this channel Cory and I purchased a 43 acre farm in February of 2022 and rescued 6 Belgian Draft horses from shipping to slaughter. Since the original six were rescued we additionally rescued two others from kill pens as well. Check out some of our older videos to see our story.
However, this video is very personal to us because we need your help! On Friday March 17th, while scrolling through Facebook I came across a horse that was scheduled to ship on the next slaughter truck to Mexico. The reason this horse stood out to me was because he has suffered horrible abuse and his right eye has been poked out! I started networking to see if someone was going to take the horse and as of 3:30pm on Friday no one had paid for him. I was not going to let this horse end up at slaughter so I paid for him and rescued him. There were groups that said they would pick him up but he was not paid for...therefore he was not safe!
A Coggins test was done on Friday and results should be back on Monday. We have scheduled transport for Tuesday and made arrangements with our vets office to bring him there on our way home from Kemp, TX. From the pictures our vet thinks his eye needs to be removed but she will not be able to tell until she sees him in person.
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!
Over the last few months, Cory and I along with three amazing women that I don't know what I would do without them in my life, Jeannine Residori, Kara Wray and Michelle Raney...we have all started the Big Hoof Foundation! We will be rescuing horses like these who have been abused, neglected and dumped at kill lots. Our goal is saving more lives! We have been approved for 501(c)3 status and are a certified non-profit. We are working to get the foundation off the ground and more details on the foundation will be given soon. Right now we are focusing on saving lot#269 and getting him the medical care he needs.
We need your help to raise money to cover the costs of lot#269 (who needs a name) and getting the foundation moving forward. Donations are going to be temporarily accepted on the Fletcher Farms Amarillo website on a page dedicated to the Big Hoof Foundation since we do not have a website created yet.
https://www.fletcherfarmsamarillo.com/big-hoof-foundation
We need to raise about $3500 to cover the following...
Bail - $1,175
Transportation - estimate $300
Eye surgery - Estimate from the vet $300-$800
Aftercare - Medications, blood work, etc. ($ amount unknown)
Feed - approximately $20 per day (free choice hay and Alfa Pro)
All donations are now tax deductible since we have created the foundation and lot#269 is our first official rescue! If you would like a donation letter please send us an email at bighooffoundation@gmail.com
Thank you so much for your support! We can not thank you enough! We will definitely have more updates on Tuesday when we pick him up and I will try and do a live video when we pick him up.

Episode 47
If you are new to our channel, last year we rescued 6 Belgian Draft Horses from a kill pen here in Texas. Since then, we have also rescued two other horse, one from a kill pen in Tennessee and another from a pen in Kemp, Texas. Today, however I want to introduce you to the newest member of the Fletcher Farms Amarillo family.
This time this adoption/rescue was not my fault. I was not looking on Facebook or Craigslist for animals. Our farrier, Kimi reached out to us because she had a client looking to rehome a draft horse and we were the first people she thought of! After a visit to meet her we decided to adopt her making Paisley our 8th Belgian Draft Horse on our farm. Check out her story here!
We hope you enjoyed this video, make sure you subscribe to our channel so you don't miss anything happening around the farm!

Donkey saved from slaughter brings another life into the world! Gender reveal and update on the baby
Episode 44
What a fun and exciting week it's been here on the farm! If you missed our YouTube live on Monday (link below), we had a bit of a surprise. Ellie, the donkey we rescued last year from slaughter had another baby.
Baby donkey!!! Ellie had a baby!!! What a surprise!
https://youtube.com/live/pSCshcld6Yg?feature=share
Cory and I didn't know that after a donkey is castrated a male donkey can cold sperm for an additional 4 months after the procedure. We integrated Jack with Ellie about 2 months after his procedure. We had a suspicion that Ellie might be pregnant because she was a lot fatter than Jack and they both eat the same diet. So... it was much to our surprise when we saw the baby on Monday. This video is an update on Mom and baby after the vet was out to the farm to check them. Along with a gender reveal!
Make sure you subscribe to our channel so you don't miss anything happening here around the farm! We have lots of update videos coming! Stay tuned!

Highly anticipated vet check-up for our rescued Belgian Draft Horse Anna for her lame back left leg.
Episode 43
Anna, a Belgian Draft Horse was rescued days before almost being sent to slaughter. She was starved, neglected and dumped at a kill pen here in Texas. Because of some amazing people networking horses in kill pens, I saw her posted in a group on Facebook. I knew if we didn't step in to help her that her fate would be much worse because of the condition she was in.
We saved her back in August and got her on the road to recovery with the medical attention she needed along with a slow progression of feed intake to get her up to a proper weight. If you haven't seen any of her video stories check them out in the links below.
If you have followed Anna's story from the beginning, she was still having some lameness issues on her back left leg so it was time to take her to the vets office too deep dive into why she was still having issues. This video is about what the vet found during her appointment, how we are treating her condition along with some of her background since arriving here on the farm if you haven't been following her story.

Emergency on the farm with Mabel the baby donkey rescued from slaughter Ep. 42
Episode 42
2023 is starting out with all kinds of adventures! First, a stray dog shows up on the farm and we take him in and next we are having an emergency situation with Mabel the baby donkey rescued from slaughter just about a year ago. If you don't know Mabels story check out her video below.

Mom and baby donkey rescued from slaughter, living their best lives
https://youtu.be/PBphE86Nw54
SO...Friday night Kara was over visiting, helping me make goat milk soap and everything was fine with Mabel. We were in the pasture playing with her and giving her lots of pets. I woke up Saturday morning to feed everyone and walked into the pasture to see an emergency situation with Mabel. Her eye was completely red and swollen to the point we didn't know if her eye was still intact. I called the vet and they advised me it could be ruptured and we needed to get her in as soon as possible. We had no idea what happened durning the night but this video is an update on Mabels vet exam and prognosis.
I mentioned in this video too, that we are taking Anna the rescued draft horse to the vet to have her leg checked because she still isn't putting weight on it. I will get an update video out as soon as possible because I know many of you have following Anna's story from the beginning.
Make sure you subscribe to our channel so you don't miss anything happening here on the farm! Its never a dull moment!

An unexpected guest has arrived on the farm! Ep.41
Episode 41
We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Cory and I ended 2022 with the worst flu either one of us ever had. We are both feeling better now finally...after about 3 weeks of being sick.
2023 is starting off with a bang! We had an unexpected guest arrive at the farm on New Years Day. I don't know if there is a sign on the highway coming into Amarillo that says "if you are an animal and need help, proceed to Fletcher Farms Amarillo". All the details on our new arrival are in this video.
Other then that...we survived the arctic storm that came accost he United States. One morning was negative 25! We prepared for the cold with extra hay in the barn for the horses and as usual no one came inside. All the horses, donkeys, goats, chicken, cats and dogs are doing well. Included in this video is an update on everyone.
ALSO, we released a bunch of new aromas of our farm fresh goat milk soaps. Meesha Bars are made with ingredients you can pronounce! Pure, high quality, food grade and organic natural plant oils mixed with therapeutic grade essential oils along with goat milk straight from our goat, Meesha.
All our soaps are handmade in small batches using the cold process method. 100% Saponified & Super-Fatted. Free from dyes, detergents, synthetic fragrances and parabens. Made from high quality, natural plant based oils. Hydration for your skin sourced by nature! Our soaps are never overpowering with fragrance, just a hint of therapeutic grade essential oil leaving you feeling refreshed and clean.
Our soaps are full of the good fats that help your skin lock in hydration. All soaps are made by blending a lipid (fat) with lye (food grade sodium hydroxide) and starting the chemical reaction called saponification. In the case of goat's milk soap, it's the natural fats in the milk that contribute to the soap formation. Super-fatted soap is less harsh on the skin.
Goat's milk is rich in helpful fats (specifically caprylic acid) which helps to not only hydrate the skin, but also help remove oil, dirt and skin debris without stripping the protective skin barrier.
Check out everything we have available at fletcherfarmsamarillo.com
