Growing Desert Plants 14
In this video:
Updates on the desert willow and desert broom planted in the yard. S
Description:
A good portion of my yard is dirt, which blows around in the wind and erodes in the rain. Also, due to the housing boom, that part of my yard, which used to be quiet and semi private, has now become a highway.
I want to try to solve three problems: dirt, erosion and privacy.
I am going to take multiple approaches, from growing plants from seed, cuttings, in pots, directly in the dirt etc.
At the end of this season, based on the results, I will decide if I can solve the problems with plants or if some other solution is required.
I am not an expert, I am sure much of what I am doing here people will say "that's not going to work" etc. I am doing this for fun, learning through trial and error and doing some research along the way. Any constructive criticism, tips, ideas etc are much appreciated.

Drain Pipe Gold
This is my attempt to find gold in drain pipe dirt.
I am not a gold miner, I am sure my panning technique needs LOTS of work. This is just video I did for fun.
If you have had any success doing this, let me know in the comments. I am going to try some more as the opportunity arises.

Baby Chick Water Dispensers
Life being what it is, we got rid of all the stuff for raising chicks. Now we have more chicks and rather than spending the money, I "fabricated" a couple of water dispensers out of food grade coffee cans.
These videos are for educational purposes. Do any of this stuff at your own risk.
Update:
I like both of the designs, but the first one worked better for me. I ended up converting the second one to the first one, but the conversion was better!
These coffee cans have built in handles, which perfectly "locks" in the soda bottle. I put one loop of wire to set the height, then I put the bottle in, "clicked" it in place and flipped it over...it was perfect.

Window Screen Replacement
A quick video on how to easily replace your old window screens. Just some tips and tricks to get the job done quick and cheap.
As luck would have it, I made this video using vice grips and a washer because I didn't want to spend the money to buy the actual tool. Since I made the video, I went to a yard sale and bought some surplus screen and they GAVE ME the tool for free and I found another one in a thrift store for 25 cents...go figure.
Got to love yard sales.
I'm not a professional, so take my advice and tips at your own risk.

I'm not sure what's going on. I am doing everything the same and my success is really dropping. Maybe it's too late in the year to try to get these started.

In this video: The rooting of the willows is beginning to slow. I am not sure if it's the time of year or something else. The bottle terrariums are a bust. I think the seeds I used are just too old and sterile. I will retry when I get some fresh pine cones. I check on the progress of the willows I planted in pots outsides as well as the desert broom. I plant some newly picked desert broom in the ground and check on the progress of the willows that were planted in front of the house.

Growing Desert Plants 08
In this video I create and install chicken wire covers for the plants to protect from rodents. I do a comparison between the cuttings that were rooted in just water and those that I tried rooting in dirt.

(Pocket) Gopher Remediation Tools/Techniques.
Tools and tips for the remediation of pocket gophers.
There are no gophers or images of gophers in this video. It is simply a "how to".
Gophers, pack rats, mice and other vermin carry disease, in addition to attracting rattlesnakes and other predators. They are also very destructive. If you have ever had a pack rat get into your engine compartment, shed or anywhere else you know what they can do. Pocket gophers destroy fields, gardens, crops and cause injuries to animals and people.
If you are someone who disagrees with the removal of vermin etc, please do not watch. If you feel a need to make comments etc that are negative etc, they will be removed.
Unfortunately, in some areas, this is a necessary thing to do.

Kitchen Make Over
A quick video showing how a coat of paint and an epoxy counter top kit can turn an old, beat up kitchen into something pretty nice, without spending a lot of money.
Many kitchens or rooms have very good "bones", which makes spending thousands to replace cabinets etc, a waste. Epoxy kits for counter tops have really been a game changer and completely transform a kitchen.
Unfortunately, I tried to time lapse the application of the epoxy and it didn't turn out well, so that part is omitted from the video.

Non Poison Rodent baiting and techniques
All rodents including, pack rats, mice, squirrels and other vermin carry disease, in addition to attracting rattlesnakes and other predators. They are also very destructive. If you have ever had a pack rat get into your engine compartment, shed or anywhere else you know what they can do. They carry the hanta virus and even the plague.
I don't believe in using poison, there is just too much chance of secondary death of predators and scavengers.
These techniques are non toxic and should get the job done.
You will never rid yourself of rodents, but you can take measures to control them.
