Bits of Torah Truths - Paul Believed in the Torah and Prophets is for Today - Episode 63
Acts 24:14
יד אֲבָל אֶת זֶה אֲנִי מוֹדֶה לְפָנֶיךָ׃ בַּדֶּרֶךְ הַנִּקְרֵאת בְּפִיהֶם ׳כַּת׳ עוֹבֵד אֲנִי אֶת אֱלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ, וּמַאֲמִין בְּכָל הַכָּתוּב בַּתּוֹרָה וּבַנְּבִיאִים;
Acts 24:14
14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets: (KJV)
Here in Acts 24:14 Paul believed all of the things in the Torah and the Prophets. He used the Torah and the Prophets as his defense that he was not teaching heresy.

Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua was Circumcised on the Eighth Day - Episode 20
Luke 2:21
Luke 2:21
21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. (KJV)
Here we read how Yeshua was circumcised on the eighth day according to the Torah. When we take a closer look at the gospels it is easy to see the role of the Torah in the life of God's people even from childbirth.

Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua Taught on Divorce using the Torah - Episode 19
Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua Taught on Divorce using the Torah - Episode 19
Mark 10:5–10
Mark 10:5–9
5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (KJV)
Here Yeshua used the creation account to teach on the topic of divorce. This is significant since it suggests to us how the Torah has not passed away.

Bits of Torah Truths - John the Baptist used the Torah to Rebuke Herod - Episode 18
Mark 6:18
Leviticus 20:21
Here John used Leviticus 20:21 regarding the command not to marry your brother's wife. This suggests that the Torah is still valid today as much as it was when this book was written!

Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua interpreted the Sabbath Day - Episode 17
Mark 3:3–4
Yeshua asked the rhetorical question of whether one should do good or evil on the Shabbat. The point is he was dealing with the issues of the Torah. The Torah has not passed away.

Bits of Torah Truths - Paul Used the Torah to Defend His Position - Episode 61
Bits of Torah Truths - Paul Used the Torah to Defend His Position - Episode 61
Acts 23:3
Acts 23:3
3 Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law? (KJV)
Here, Paul believed that the Torah has not passed away according to Acts 23:3. Paul used the Torah to defend his position.

Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua Taught the Greatest Commands from the Torah Using Torah - Episode 15
Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua Taught the Greatest Commands from the Torah Using the Torah - Episode 15
Matthew 22:36–40
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (KJV)
Here Yeshua called upon the Shema from the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-8) and from Leviticus using the authority of the Torah to prove the greatest commands. This substantiates the validity of the Torah that it has not passed away

Bits of Torah Truths - Paul Used the Torah to Show Ananias was a Righteous Man - Episode 60
Bits of Torah Truths - Paul Used the Torah to Show Ananias was a Righteous Man - Episode 60
Acts 22:12–13
Acts 22:12–13
12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, 13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him. (KJV)
A very important observation in Acts 22:12 is how Paul used the Torah to say Ananias was a righteous man. We note how the Torah is the standard for righteousness. So, pointedly the Torah has not passed away.

Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua wore Tzitzit - Episode 13
Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua wore Tzitzit - Episode 13
Matthew 9:20
Just then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, (NLT)
Bamidbar / Numbers 15:38
Numbers 15:38
38Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue.
Traditional interpretation of the woman's actions has been that of a desperate woman who wanted healing so badly that she touched the hem of Yeshua's garment. The actual Aramaic word was not “hem” but “edge” which referred to the “borders” or kanaf of “garments” (beged), which is where “fringes” or “tassels” (tzittzit) are placed (Numbers 15:38-39). Yeshua, like all other Torah observant Jews, wore a tallit with tzittzit as a reminder to keep the Commandments of God. The Hebrew word kanaf is also found in Malachi 4:2 “...with healing in his kanaf (wings)...” Wings here refer to the tallit; they are not actual "wings." See also Zechariah 8:23.

Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua used the Torah and the Prophets as Proof Texts - Episode 14
Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua used the Torah and the Prophets as Proof Texts - Episode 14
Matthew 11:13–15
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. (KJV)
Yeshua used the Torah and the prophets to prove John the Baptist’s mission and identity as the forerunner of the Messiah. He quoted from the Book of Malachi, which prophesied that God would send Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord. He identified John as the Elijah who was to come, and said that those who have ears should hear. He also affirmed John’s testimony about himself, that he was not the Christ, but the voice of one crying in the wilderness, "Make straight the way of the Lord," as Isaiah the prophet had said. He praised John as more than a prophet, and as the greatest among those born of women, because he prepared the people for the coming of the kingdom of heaven.

Bits of Torah Truths - More False Accusations that Paul Taught Against Torah - Episode 59
Bits of Torah Truths - More False Accusations that Paul Taught Against Torah - Episode 59
Acts 21:28
Acts 21:28
28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place. (KJV)
In Acts 21:28 we read about how Paul was accused of teaching against the Torah. So here we see more false accusations saying that Paul taught against the Torah. The significance of these things is that Paul didn't teach against the Torah because the Torah is supposed to be a part of the life of a believer in Yeshua the Messiah.

Bits of Torah Truths - The Nations will come to Learn Torah - Episode 7
Bits of Torah Truths - The Nations will come to Learn Torah - Episode 7
Micah 4:1–2 (NASB): 4:1 And it will come about in the last days
That the mountain of the house of the Lord
Will be established as the chief of the mountains.
It will be raised above the hills,
And the peoples will stream to it.
2 And many nations will come and say, “Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord And to the house of the God of Jacob,
That He may teach us about His ways
And that we may walk in His paths.”
For from Zion will go forth the law,
Even the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Here Micah speaks of a future time when the mountain of the Lord will be the chief mountain and the nations will stream to the mountain of the Lord to learn the Torah and to learn how to walk in the ways of God. Since this is a future expectation, “why is the dominant theology today against keeping the Torah of God?”

Zechariah 14:16–21 (NASB): 16 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths. 17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, there will be no rain on them. 18 And if the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the plague with which the Lord smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths. 19 This will be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths. 20 In that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, “HOLY TO THE LORD.” And the cooking pots in the Lord’s house will be like the bowls before the altar. 21 And every cooking pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be holy to the Lord of hosts; and all who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in them. And there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts in that day.
Here Zechariah speaks of a messianic prophecy that describes the millennial reign of the Lord over the earth. At this future time the nations will go up to Jerusalem and the feast of tabernacles will be kept. Again what we observe here according to the scripture is that the Torah has not passed away!

Bits of Torah Truths - The Torah will be Written upon One's Heart - Episode 5
Bits of Torah Truths - The Torah will be Written upon One's Heart - Episode 5
Isaiah 51:7
51:7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, The people in whose heart is my law; Fear ye not the reproach of men, Neither be ye afraid of their revilings. (KJV)
Here Isaiah states that the righteous will listen to the Lord God Almighty. These are those whom the Torah is written upon their hearts. (Jeremiah 31:31–34) In addition, we are not to be ashamed or afraid of the reproach and reviling of men. We will look at how Yeshua the Messiah taught Torah in the NT text. An interesting question for us in light of Isaiah here: “Is it possible to understand what Yeshua taught if one does not have the Torah written upon heart heart?” and “what does it mean to have the Torah written upon the heart?”

Bits of Torah Truths - The Torah is Needed to be God’s People - Episode 6
Jeremiah 31:33
31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, And write it in their hearts; And will be their God, And they shall be my people. (KJV)
We note how significant this verse is, God says He will write His Torah upon the heart of His people. When this happens he says וְהָיִ֤יתִי לָהֶם֙ לֵֽאלֹהִ֔ים וְהֵ֖מָּה יִֽהְיוּ־לִ֥י לְעָֽם we will be His people and He will be our God. Note the qualifier here is having God's Torah written upon our heart. If Jeremiah 31:33 is a messianic prophecy why would the new covenant that we have in Yeshua cause the Torah to be no more?

Bits of Torah Truths - Why does Jeremiah Lament if the Torah would be done away with? - Episode 9
Lamentations 2:9 (NASB): 9 Her gates have sunk into the ground, He has destroyed and broken her bars. Her king and her princes are among the nations; The law is no more; Also, her prophets find No vision from the Lord.
Here in Lamentations 2:9 Jeremiah lamented that the Torah is no more. The question is why lament if the Torah was ultimately to be done away with as is taught in modern theologies today? We note that in Psalm 119 David exalted the Torah.

Bits of Torah Truths - Yeshua used the Torah to rebuke the Adversary - Episode 10
Matthew 4:4–10
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (Deuteronomy 8:3) 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. (Deuteronomy 6:16) 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Bits of Torah Truths - Those Who Teach Against Torah will be Least in the Kingdom - Episode 11
Matthew 5:17–19
Matthew 5:17–19
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (KJV)
What Yeshua is saying here is those who teach against the Torah will be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven. Do you teach that the Torah has passed away?
