Visiting Shipley Glen in Bradford, the site of many Victorian Attractions amongst its long history. In this episode we are looking at the Shipley Glen Pleasure Ground or the Children's Funfair as it was also known. Shipley Glen Tramway opened in 1895, it still operates to this day. Originally built to carry passengers up Baildon Moor from Saltaire village up to Shipley Glen. We explore the site of the former Wakefield Racecourse, or Outwood Racecourse as it was also known. Now Wakefield 41 Industrial Site, full of large distribution warehouses. But it used to be home to a grandstand & racecourse from the 1750's. Can we find any evidence of it's existence? Arthur Moore of Pontllanfraith in South Wales was an amateur radio operator, he became famous after he picked up the SOS signal from the Titanic on the night it sank. He is believed to be the first person to respond to the calls, and inform his local police station. He also went on to be involved in the discovery of the Titanic wreck in 1985.
