Exploring the History of Winter Gardens in Blackpool, uncovering all of it's history and Hidden Secrets. In this video we look at the Great Wheel, located at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. It opened in 1896 and closed in 1928 after 32 years. At over 220ft high, it towered over Blackpool along with the Tower. We also take a look at the earliest form of a Steel Rollercoaster located at the Winter Gardens and known as Les Montagnes Russes, it opened in 1902. We head to the Arena, formerly known as the Indian Lounge, exploring behind the scenes and sharing it's many historic secrets and hidden rooms. The Indian Lounge opened in 1896, as part of the Empress Ballroom that opened the same year. We find that maybe not all is lost of this grand room, hidden behind a false wall are some relics.
