Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 68: Math Everything
Bench-attack deck style today! As a result, calculating where we need our attacks to go is quite important!
It is, however, a tad on the slow side. :P Native attack powers are generally 40 max, but the idea is that if you can damage what they have on the bench, you can finish them off when they inevitable get set as the active Pokemon. Also, by defeating Pokemon on the bench, you are effectively energy removaling their plans. So I actually have ZERO energy Removal in this build aside from a Magneton that can hit benched stuff in general! But of course that's more for the bench attacking properties than the energy removal. Shocking I know! :P

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 67: Mystery Control
I've got a lot of beneficial card effects in this build! Only' thing is that they have to work!
Most are coin flip based because of balance reasons, but chances are we'll hit some of them along the way to reap the benefits. Some are beneficial regardless of the side of the coin we get too. Which are big plusses! There are those which randomness comes into play of a different variety like Phantom Mew here though, but I figured it would be interesting to show off another Phantom Card as long as it fits the build. Venusaur and Here Comes Team Rocket are the only two Phantoms left to show.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 66: Eliminating the Coin
After yesterday's debacle, I opted to veto capitalism, lol!
I've used all of these cards before, but not all in the same deck. The idea with this build is to not flip a coin for stuff. The only time I'd have to is at the start of a game and for status effects. Lots of draw power also tends to yield the cards I need at a given moment... and then some!

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 65: Tails Tales
Such consistently bad luck led to a very long part. X_X Long to render as well.
I was playing to the probabilities very skillfully, but the coin flips said NO! I still was winning consistently and didn't lose much control as I just had to play for the worst scenario, but this was just ridiculous. Even when I would get coin flips to work in my favor, most of the time it was when it didn't matter or mattered the least.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 64: Tips for Tobi
Poison deck day! Can we build one that's better than one of the Ghost masters? I think there's a good chance of that, lol!
So the idea with this deck style is to always poison when you can. If not, utilize your regular attack either by utilizing who is out or by switching to something with more power like a Scyther. Pluspower and Weezing is used for surprises, Dark Muk prevents most switches and dishes out Poison itself. Weedle-Kakuna both have a lot of poison to utilize as well in their own ways. Defender is there to hold off while Poison does it's thing. Pokemon Trader to pick what you want. The quickest way to calculate things in your mind is that unless the opponent switches, you'll be doing 20 damage from the poison, plus the attack power's number. it's not a guaranteed thing since as mentioned the opponent can switch. But that's to your advantage most of the time as well because it usually costs them energy. Hence why I felt semi-comfortable dropping the Super Energy Removals.
Then a mail check for the Gengar we got with Bill's Computer and of course Bill's Computer again to get another promo card tomorrow.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 63: White Out
Deck name for the title? Sure!
So I decided to go all colorless to utilize their versatility with the special energy cards. I sort of found that there weren't too many powerhouses aside from the ones I already utilized so I ended up falling back on them a bit. But I did get to show off a bunch of unplayed cards (by me) as of this date.

In more ways than one as it was raining outside today. Rain is quite beautiful. But you know what else is? A Rain Dance Deck, lol!
I know I said I wouldn't use one. But thinking about it more, I didn't really show what the deck can EVOLVE into when more cards from later sets are accessible. So let's give it another looksie and dominate with it!
Then I do a little Bill's Computer trip at the Game Center on top of the long-awaited Venusaur trade.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 61: Cup Unlocked!
I was able to battle myself 10 times with decks specifically made for one side to quickly win while the other to quickly lose! It was still boring. :P But by doing so, I unlocked the Grandmaster Cup! Let's play it!
I find out that it's a 8-player bracket-style tourney with the winner being able to face off against a grand master! Honestly if the characters wanted to play a Grand Master, it's probably easier to play one via the Challenge machine. XD 3 members and a master first rather than 3 masters, plus you can repeatedly reset so you can get the grand mater you want. :P HOWEVER there are some nice prizes. You get to pick two promotional cards out of four pre-picked and you get an Arbok coin just for participating.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 60: The Other Computer
Remember there was another one to check out. So here we are! It has a similar format to the other computer, just with GR members and possibly Imakuni. ;) So the idea is to get a 50 streak too (save after ever 5 and if you lose, reset your GBC to start back at the last 5-set) and the difficulty is probably upped a little bit compared to the other one as generally GR members really do usually have the better decks. I had some oddly good luck here though so I was able to wipe most of them relatively fast.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 59: Computer AI
It's really the same AI, just on a computer instead of face to face. Though since we are facing them on a game anyway, well... I guess it's still a computer. XD
I do a quick rundown of something I'd like to unlock. But not so much the unlock part yet because I gotta set up BGB to do stuff. Namely the multiplayer battling aspect. Assuming it's possible to do so.
Then I head over to the Mason Lab to FINALLY tackle the battle computer that has been mocking us with it's flashy lights! Thinking about it more, I wonder if I should show it in it's entirely or even bother to do it in it's entirelty. I mean it's FIFTY straight battles VS duelists we beat before... PLUS the one at the GR Challenge Hall is 50 more. You obviously know I can as I have the skill and decks for it. Especially the Stop It deck. :P But it's just so needlessly long.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 58: Trades and Text
Since we accumulated a bunch of the cards required for trading, let's get to it! I mean finishing off the card collection IS a big part of the game's 100%ing after all! I got the rest that I remember right now done aside from the one at the GR Grass Fort for later as I didn't have a Dark Venusaur... Yet!
To finish off the part, I read through and clean out my inbox which amazingly wasn't giving me a "too full to accept mail" message for once! lol! I guess I was reading it frequently enough. Of course it'll get filled up again when I start showing off Bill's Computer and the Black Box at the Game Center. But we've gotta make room for those!
Long story short: NO duels for once! :O But remember that the RPG side of things IS a part of the game. So don't skimp out any of it for the sake of 100%!

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 57: Imakuni's Gifts
He's back! But this time with cards if you beat him enough times! So since it's 100% or bust (to the limitation of the Emulator of course. XD), we've gotta win what we've gotta win!
This time I do with Black Imakuni first with the Weird/Inky deck. No real strategy in his deck other than it being, well... weird cards, lol! But it never disappoints as you'll always encounter something funny along the way dueling him.
You know what else doesn't disappoint? Red Imakuni's Strange deck, lol! Basically for the same reasons. It's not so much about the strategy of his deck so much as it has no strategy and odd decisions are a plenty! Just using Imakuni? without Dark Primeape lv23 is pretty funny actually.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 56: Unrealized Potential
Two guys at the Psychic club unlock at some time and I forgot about them. Let's go beat them then!
So Robert and his Phantom deck is up once again as until I edited the (Non-GR) Challenge Cup I didn't realize I didn't cover him before. In editing, I looked for the Phantom Deck to put on the sidebar and I haven't made it. Which meant he wasn't covered, lol! My bad! So his deck is likely named after the idea of things moving around on both sides. Alakazam lv45 can move all it's damage counters to the opponent's active Pokemon. Gengar can bounce your critters back to the deck. Mew can Devolves your stuff to dusrupt combos and potentially KO stuff (keeps the damage counters but lowers HP when devolved after all). But overall, it kind of just doesn't work all that well. I guess?... Kadabra, Alakazam and Mewtwo all have attacks that are pretty reliant on the opponent having Psychic energy attached. So while they could do like 120 damage to them (double damage of 60), chances are you wouldn't have a Psychic critter out against them. You'd use your utility Colorless Pokemon because they work well with Psychics to cover their self-weakness with resistance or secondary (or more, lol) energy type. So even though you unlock his game later in this game, his deck feels very.... early-game like. You know: Nerfed compared to the potential it could have. Pidgeot lv40 (and a bunch of the Pidgey line) for instance could be a nice compliment critter to the strategy with Hurricane to bounce things back, as could Energy Removal as that too would fit the theme of disappearance.
Then Daniel is up next with his Puppeteer deck which uses the Hypno-Clefairy Doll combo to attack safely without repercussions. Well... if he used it right, lol! He never seemed to use Clefairy Doll to utilize it's capabilities with Hypno. If he did however, he could bring it back with Itemfinder, as well as use defender to keep it around against cards that do 20 damage or less. So he can nip off 30 turn by turn as long as he has the dolls. "Can" is the key word here as it never happened. Not to mention he totally misused Hypno's attack in that it could hit anything for 30. Including my Rattata. The AI Hiccup was so hilariously bad I ended up experimenting with it! XD Anyway... Slowpoke is there to recycle Clefairy Doll as well. Slowbro can also do some disrupting things either my sneaking damage counters to itself on the bench to benefit the active Pokemon (complimenting Mr. Mine's invisible wall) and causing paralysis. But largely the Slowpoke is what he's using the line for. Slowpoke can't attack in on itself though. It can just heal itself and bring trainer cards back to the hand.
Also, there is a Bug in the URL. ;)

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 55: Back in It!
I won the game yesterday even with a lack of focus. Somehow. :P But I'm feeling WAY better today so prepare yourself for the King's Cup! Basically GR Island's Challenge Cup.
James is back with his Forest Fiend deck and it goes down as easy as it ever did. :P He may need to have more deck building practice, lol!
Then Chip with his Power of Electricity deck rolls in which could be quite a match for my water critters! Or.... I can just use strategy and it becomes a non-issue. Yeah, I think I'll do that.
Finally there's Claire's Mysterious Disappearance deck complete with the special rule! I think why I thought special rules didn't happen was because deck requirements were clearly null and void. Allowing us to use whatever deck we want. So my bad on that! In any case, we run her out of cards as it was a pretty heavy stalemate. I was definitely gaining ground though, so even if the cards didn't run out, her luck would've.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 54: Out of It
I'm not very focused here. But I got the job done, lol!
After giving the rundown of all the stuff I did off camera and a bunch of cards added to the collection, I head off to try and activate a Challenge Cup and do!
The first opponent is Brittany and we know her deck. However...
Robert is new to the walkthrough (I guess I forgot about his unlock time!) and has a Psychic deck which could get some heavy-hitters going if he can evolve up to them. There's not much threat if he can't though. Mewtwo lv54 is kind of the only one really. It's quite a conundrum if you think about it since he doesn't have a lot of speed in his trainer cards to get there. So his draws would have to be pretty lucky.
The finals is Ronald with his Psychic Deck. We know him too though. :P But he has some new dialog!

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 53: Spinning
Casino day! Yay?... As you know, I'm not one for luck-based things. But I at least tried to make it fun, lol! There is a duel this part though!
Stuff at the Game Center discussed are Bill's Computer, which you can get promos with... if I had Bill's Computer. :P My bad!
The Black Box is next and it's sort of like another trade thing. You put in a bunch of copies of a card, then you get a stronger evolution for it. You can also get Promos if you put in some specific cards. It's a lot to write out and I'm unsure of some details as of right now. But I'd like to cover at least "some" of it later for realsies.
Then I head over to the coin flip game and get a surprisingly high amount of good luck! Not enough to get the Mew lv8. But still... Essentially the more heads you get in a row, the more you win! But you only start winning after 3 in a row. At 12.5%, that may seem low, but since you win 20 from it, the probability of you winning more in the long run is high. Probably higher speed at getting coins here than the slots. Speaking of...
I head to the Slots. :P You have no input over the wheels like you do in the main series games. So you press down and hope! There's a Bonus game, which you have no control over. :P But if you get it, chances are you'll get coins out of it. Really you want coins because the boosters you get are only energy. Such a booby prize! Of the two versions of the slots, they both play the same, just you may different: 1 and 5 coins. I'd go with the 5-coiner as the payout ratios are higher. But early on if you don't go through the Chess Masters, you may want to just coin flip as the 1-cointer takes forever.
Then I start the quest for Ishihara's duel, which involves a few more trades. Unfortunately I didn't have one of the cards... again... But I got it and resumed the chain. Not' quitting this time!
So it led up to unlocking his duel and his deck is... not very good, lol! Well, I mean it's fun to face because you can see all sorts of rare cards. But as you know, rare doesn't necessarily mean powerful. :P It really shows here as there's not much synergy in his cards as he seemed to pick rare for the sake rare rather than because they fit with an idea to dominate. Heck, legendary Pokemon in general doesn't necessarily mean Powerful, lol! Even more heck, there's a bunch of Pokemon in the main-series games that are really powerful, but doesn't necessarily mean an all-powerful card in the TCG. So you must look at each card objectively for your intended strategy.
Note on the creation of this video: It was kind of a nightmare. A lot of crashes and glitches (likely because there was so much footage for it to keep track of), plus a lot of text to write out and sync to the video. Then a long rendering time, and... just... I'm glad it's done. XD

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 52: Power Pieces
The top two chess pieces have the best two decks of the bunch as expected!
Rook's Colorless Energy deck uses, well... colorless energy all around the place. :P It does have a little splash of elemental help in the form of Eeveelutions though. It's relatively well focused with just 3 evolution lines, but there are a lot of different versions of some cards. Which means you'll end up facing a variety of critters with the same name. Probably. Moon Stone helps search anything colorless while Pokemon Trader is likely used for the rest or anything needed in general. So chances are you'll see some evolutions as well. Dragonair and Energy Removal will look familiar to you too. XD But if you can outspeed it or undo the energy yourself, it should be pretty smooth.
Queen's deck uses those really good basic Pokemon I have shown you the usefulness of before. But all at once! That............ probably isn't too good of an idea. XD It has too many elemental types which makes having the right energy difficult, especially against someone using Energy Removal. Energy Search and Rainbow Energy helps a lot, but since the energy is spread so thinly, it goes pretty fast. She also is strangely lacking Professor Oak to get them quicker. Some Energy Retrieval would help, but she has none of those. So if I were to improve the deck, I'd probably drop 1 copy of each of the 5 basic Pokemon, 1 switch, then add 3 Energy Retrieval and 2 Professor Oak. That way even if the sparse energy gets discarded, she can get it back. Alternately as I mentioned in the video, it may be wiser to just drop the energy types (and corresponding Basic Pokemon) down to 3 to add some consistency. If, say... the Lapras (needs all water/Rainbow) and Jynx (weak it it's own type and only two energy for it aside from Rainbow) were removed, energy could be redistributed to the Fighting, Fire and Lightning sides which also have good elemental coverage for each other. There are many ways to make a deck like this really. Her's isn't bad persay, I just don't think her's is as streamlined as it could be.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 51: Similar Strength
Knights and Bishops have close attack patterns in Chess. Bishops are ever so slightly stronger. But not by much. :P
With Knight we kind of stare at Mysterious Fossils a lot. XD He needs more Basic Pokemon... I mean REAL Basic Pokemon. All right, there's more to it than that............ He could use more draw power too. XD Ok ok, for realsies. He just couldn't seem to get much off the ground here which I suspect is due to him discarding key cards early or maybe just them being in his prize cards. He could've gone Charizard, Aerodactyl, kabutops, Omanyte, etc... but was lacking them. Pokemon Trader in place of Energy Retrieval would've helped with that. But regardless, I kept foiling his powerups with energy removal on the few he could get out. At that point it didn't matter what I had as I could just keep chipping away freely.
Bishop didnt have much easier of a time due to his deck being based around Porygon of all cards. :P Cool Porygon is his best of the bunch. But he only has 3 copies for some reason. Perhaps due to the rarity? It has backup in the form of the Zubat and Venonat line to cause varying status conditions, along with Scyther as a quick beater. Though there's no main way to pick what he wants to lock down in a jiffy. For instance, he could have Gust of Wind along with Dark Muk to make things more difficult to switch away from type changing, but the only thing he's really got is Switch and Scoop Up. They help a little, but not as much as the deck needs for it to realize it's full potential. Well, as much Potential as Porygon can reach. (The TCG just did not treat it well in the early days. :P ) Also, he probably shouldn't use the lv. 12 Porygon. XD Why not the lv. 20 (Team Rocket) Porygon if he wants Conversion 1 because it has Psybeam for 20 plus possible confusion It's easy to power up with Double Colorless Energy.... Which reminds me too: he needs 4 of those. Not 3.

From one dueling place to another!
The ninth Ghost Master has a true Rain Dance Blastoise deck that can blast away your Pokemon very quickly. Unfortunately for her that just didn't seem to be possible for her to do.... Twice. o_o Is my deck just that OP or something? lol!
Then we head over the the Game Cor... Center to clear out other duelists. Starting with Pawn who has a extremely streamlined deck of lockdowns. Kind of. It is very focused, but the cards picked aren't that threatening, you know? If for some reason you are having trouble, pack in Switch and/or Full Heal to keep yourself going.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 49: Not Taking Orders
You can't tell me what to do! I have Energy Removal! :P
The seventh Ghost Master focuses heavily on Dark Pokemon complete with damage reduction and attack increases. Also' the game's only user of GR's Mewtwo, somehow, despite GR seemingly coming out with the card just recently in the game's story, lol! Said boosts are small, but can make a difference depending on the situation similar to how Pluspower and Defender work. So it's important to take them into account in your calculations. I wouldn't say his deck is all that difficult to beat persay, it's just ell balanced within the theme.
The eighth is the waitress I referenced in the title and she has kind of a mixed bag. Seemingly focused on whatever is the best move for the situation. Mass Damage with Exeggutor, bouncing with Dark Gengar, protection with Dark Clefable... that sort of thing. So you'll have to adjust accordingly depending on what you're facing. Like the seventh, she's not that hard or anything, you just need to be focused.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 48: Ghost Amateurs
Seto Kaiba would be ashamed of these two players! XD
Ghost "master" #5 has a weirdly off-balance deck that doesn't make too much sense. Why not the Kakuka? Why the Charmander/Charmeleon in a poison deck? Sure they are powerful, but do they benefit the strategy? Only two Pokemon in it can cause poison actually. Also, shouldn't there be more fire energy than there is grass since the grass Pokemon he has doesn't use much grass? Why not Dark Muk to prevent easy switches? Where's the draw power? Where's the searching cards like Pokemon Trader? etc... It all just seems like there's no focus to really make an impact. It shows in the game too.
The sixth has more focus in the strategy of reusing the Legendary Zapdos with Scoop Up and Ditto to cause mass amounts of damage, even when not declaring an attack. But if the strategy is hitting his own side, it's working well! rofl! I can't think of a better example duel as to why you should never use that version of Zapdos than this one. While it CAN hit the opponent's Pokemon, since you never know what it'll hit, it may not hit the one that could benefit you the most in any given situation. If Zapdos is threatened with a KO by the opponent's active Pokemon for instance, you may not hit it and end up hitting something else, even your own things. The same goes for anything else you may want to hit. He also has Chansey lv55 for offense... I guess?... It'll likely get a KO of course, but the 80 damage to itself is a high detriment to something meant to be very defensive. Also, shouldn't he have more Scoop Up and ways to recycle Pokemon in general for the strategy too?... Nightly Garbage Run and Mr. Fuji for instance. Unless he "ONLY" is focused on the Big Thunder. Hence why Ditto will always get something with 100HP or more and Chansey has 120HP. Basically focusing on ways to ensure his own Pokemon can tank accidental self-hits. But when Zapdos comes into play, it could dish out 30 immediately to them anyway. Making Chansey the only one that can make it through both hits. So no matter what there's no escaping the initial play of Zapdos and thus must be planned for the possibility of hitting your own critters.

There's nothing like a little control deck! You doing moves, opponents being angered they can't do a move... Good times. XD
The third guy's deck tries to do exactly that. But it needs Dark Vileplume to pull it off. That should give us enough time to get things set up before the lockdown happens. Assuming you have enough draw power. Could' include the max of 4 Bill and Professor Oak if you'd like.
The fourth was, well... just not the right type to battle my deck. So I didn't have much trouble. I may re-battle him with a different deck to try and see it in full later. :P But I dunno if it'll be much more effective.

After a quick trade with Ishihara, we head over to the deadly sealed fort for some epic duels! They are apparently so powerful, they were sealed away... Isn't that a bit overboard? I mean they seem nice.
The first is built around Wigglytuff's Do The Wave and epic Basic Pokemon to dominate the field quickly. Or at least try. I'm using my best deck here so it's a really good back and forth game. Right down to the last card!
The second uses Alakazam's Damage Swap to move damage counters around to protect his active Pokmemon and then heal using varying methods. The most powerful being Pokemon Center. Mr. Mime's invisible wall is not to be underestimated because as long as it's working, you can only dish 20 to it and he can just move those counters to other Pokemon. Like Tentacool, heal it by moving it to his hand then continually attack, getting progressively more powerful.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 45: Once More
We need to beat Villicci once again to unlock something. But we were going to beat him again anyway because we need to see his two other decks. Right? ;)
The third we came across is a Dark Veunsaur centric deck which uses Dark Dragonair, Pokemon Trader and The Boss's Way to pull out the evolutions on top of being able to attack with. lv25 Scyther and lv40 Kangaskhan are also there as backup. Plus the same Mr. Mime to neutralize resistance. But he wasn't able to really get this deck off the ground. Which is funny because I wasn't using the Stop It deck, lol! Careful of surprise PlusPower and Gust Of Wind though.
His fourth and last features Dark Charizard as the ace and you know it can dish out a lot of damage. Dark Clefable can also protect it's relatively low HP for a stage 2. Mr. Mime is also here. But provides little support. What is better support are the lv31 Magmar and lv40 Kangaskhan. Magmar's versatility can be stally or offensive. Kangaskhan can draw a lot of cards while also potentially popping you with comet punches.

Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 44: The Boss's Sway
We must win this! The Pokemon Trading Card Game depends on it! Plus we've gotta beat the game and all. Villicci has a whopping FOUR decks so what I play here may not be what you get. But don't worry, I'll cover them all.
His first deck here is water-focused with splashes of grass and a resistance-nulling Mr. Mime for good measure. Considering nothing is naturally resistant to water, grass or colorless though, it must be for..... Porygon?... :P Ok, probably an oversight, lol! Dark Blastoise is the ace here and it can do tons of damage. Though it doesn't have Rain Dance so it may be difficult for him to power up. Especially with Energy Removal.
The second is focused on Dark Machamp to keep tossing your Pokemon around like a salad. Assuming he can get it going. Try your best to offset his moves. Gust Of Wind to hit Pokemon he's clearly powering up for instance. Energy Removal is always an option too. ;)
