2024 Audi Q3 - Quiet interior, balanced ride-and-handling equation
2024 Audi Q3 - Quiet interior, balanced ride-and-handling equation
Overview
The least expensive SUV in the Audi lineup, the 2024 Q3 offers a petite take on the trademark design ethos that populates the entire Audi lineup. Indeed, its exterior shape looks every bit like a seven-tenths version of its Q5 sibling, and that characteristic extends to the interior, build quality, and driving personality. All-wheel drive is standard as is adaptive cruise assist; it complements the digital gauge display, touchscreen infotainment, and a host of driver assists to keep the Q3's tech-quotient class-competitive. Motivation comes from VW/Audi’s ubiquitous turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which is tuned for 184 horsepower in the Q3 40 and 228 in the Q3 45. Though the Q3 is not the most powerful or agile SUV in its class (the bonkers and limited production RS Q3 isn’t sold in the U.S.), it’s not exactly a downer either. Driver inputs are obeyed without delay, and both engines are responsive, though the 45 ups the pace considerably. While the Q3’s cabin isn’t as spacious or as practical as the BMW X1’s and the Mercedes-Benz GLA-class looks more svelte, the Q3 delivers Audi’s trademark blend of handling, ride comfort and subtle familial style.
What's New for 2024?
The big news for 2024 is the inclusion of Adaptive Cruise Assist—adaptive cruise control—as standard equipment. Buyers who select the Convenience package will notice Homelink functionality (a garage door opener that can turn on lights) is now integrated into the rear-view mirror, and that wireless phone charging is also available. In the exterior finish department, Arkona White replaces Ibis White, Progressive Red metallic replaces Tango Red metallic and Turbo Blue is removed from the pallet.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
Premium 40 $38,195
Premium 45 $40,595
Premium Plus 40 $40,995
Premium Plus 45 $43,395
This is an easy one. With a fuel economy penalty of just 1 mpg for the more powerful engine, and a few additional features like an overhead view camera and hands-free tailgate the Premium Plus 45 is our recommended pick. We’d also select the Black Optic package, which brings sport front seats with “S” embossing and contrast stitching, 19-inch wheels with a matte titanium finish, black roof rails, and high-gloss black exterior elements.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The 2024 Q3 comes with one turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder tuned in two strengths: it makes 181 horsepower and 221 foot-pounds of torque in the Q3 40 and 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet in the Q3 45. An eight-speed automatic shuttles output to all four wheels via the standard quattro all-wheel drive system. Neither version of the Q3 is class-leading quick; the best zero-sixty we could extract was 7.3 seconds when we tested the Q3 45 a few years back. Still, the transmission shifts smoothly and provides a Sport mode as well as the option for manual operation. Steering, although direct, is light on feel. The suspension is tuned for comfort rather than performance, but a hardcore suspension would be entirely out of place here. As it sits, the chassis and engine are well-mated for a pleasant and sometimes frisky driving experience.

2024 Isuzu D-Max Debuts In Thailand With Fresh Styling And Tech Upgrades
2024 Isuzu D-Max Debuts In Thailand With Fresh Styling And Tech Upgrades
Isuzu introduced the facelifted D-Max in Thailand, featuring a redesigned exterior, more technology inside the cabin, a new rough terrain mode, and safety improvements. The automaker also confirmed plans for a battery electric pickup set to be produced in Thailand initially for the European market.
The Isuzu D-Max is being updated exactly four years after the debut of the third-gen model in October 2019. The Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux rival looks more modern than before, while retaining a variety of available bodystyles (chassis cab, regular cab, space cab, and crew cab).
Changes are focused on the front end which features a redesigned grille with a 3D look, a new pair of headlights (Bi-Led tech in high-spec trims), and tweaked bumper intakes with air-curtains on the sides. The pickup also benefits from a new tailgate with a larger integrated spoiler and revised taillight graphics. The pictured D-Max V-Cross 4×4 flagship trim is the most rugged-looking of the bunch thanks to the extra plastic cladding around the grille, the aluminum-style skid plate, the wide fender extensions, the matte black 18-inch alloy wheels, and other add-ons.
Inside, the dashboard looks familiar, albeit with new trim options and upgraded technology. The 9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment with new touch-sensitive buttons/shortcuts and physical knobs for the volume and tune underneath is combined with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Isuzu added USB-C ports for the front and rear passengers, and a new key with remote engine start function.
The powertrain lineup appears to be unchanged from the pre-facelifted model, including two four-cylinder turbodiesel options. The base 1.9-liter mill produces 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, while the more potent 3.0-liter unit is good for 187 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft). Depending on the version, power is transmitted to either the rear (2WD) or to all four wheels (4WD) via a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

The 2024 BMW X2 will launch in xDrive28i and sportier M35i xDrive guises
The 2024 BMW X2 will launch in xDrive28i and sportier M35i xDrive guises
The new 2024 BMW X2 has been unveiled, with a coupe-esque body style that features a few sporting cues applied to a bodyshell that has grown in all directions from the outgoing model. Meanwhile, its all-electric iX2 variant will not be headed to the U.S.
Many BMWs in recent memory have been a bit marmite, to put things mildly. But perhaps there’s nothing more divisive than the brand’s crop of coupe SUVs — a genre that attempts to put a sporting flair on a body style traditionally appreciated for its practicality and, well, not-so-sporting abilities.
But the latest X2 doesn’t exactly tone down the shock and awe elements in the same way that the X1 did. It sports two large pentagonal kidney grilles while the “humpback” / whale-tail rear end has veered more towards the X6 in terms of grace (that is to say, fallen from).
But, it’s not overtly as offensive as it could have been. Dare we say, it looks more like a “coupe” now than it did before? If you squint perhaps?
Much like its predecessor, the BMW X2 borrows its underpinnings from its X1 sibling. If the X1 were a sensible pair of suede loafers, the X2 would be a pair of neon-colored trainers down at the running track. However, without a proper M variant, you may think they’d be akin to being worn by the groundskeeper. And while that may be true for the base model, there’s also an M35i version at launch that provides some credence to the looks.
The all-new 2024 BMW X2 will be available in two flavors. The standard X2 xDrive28i features the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder power plant found in the X1. It churns out 241 hp (245 PS / 183 kW) between 4,500–6,500 rpm and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque between 1,500–4,000 rpm. Power is delivered to all four wheels via a 7-speed DCT — no front-wheel drive variant, for the U.S. at least.
The X2 M35i xDrive is where things get a bit more potent. It shares the same engine as the X1 M35i, which has the distinction of being the most powerful four-cylinder in BMW’s modular portfolio. The engine itself has a lot going for it mechanically. It features M-specific enhancements, including a stronger crankshaft, an optimized piston oil supply system with cooling channels, and main bearing shells and caps carried over from the latest-generation 6-cylinder engine.
Both variants of the X2, the xDrive28i and M35i, feature a mechanical limited-slip differential for the front wheels — a feature that is only found on the M35i version of the X1 sibling. So, even if you’re stuck with the base model, you should, in theory, have one sporting characteristic that one-ups the more conventional-bodied SUV.

Harley-Davidson Gaga Special Is No Lady, Just a Cold Chunk of Metal
Harley-Davidson Gaga Special Is No Lady, Just a Cold Chunk of Metal
Invented as a means to battle the Japanese and their bikes, the many V-Rods that came to be post-2001 quickly turned into an unending source of base bikes for at times incredible custom builds.
The latest V-Rod-based project we stumbled upon comes from all the way in Japan, where a local crew going by the name Bad Land put it together as the Gaga Special. That's right, Gaga as in Lady Gaga, but with no actual connection to the American singer.
The chunk of cold-looking metal sitting before us is as aggressive as Bad Land can make them. Dark all over but with enough shiny metal bits visible all over, the bike is yet another element in favor of Harley bringing back the V-Rods.
Until (and if) it does, we're going to tell you a thing or two about the Gaga special. Keeping true to the native silhouette of the breed, the V-Rod was still transformed in the most important of places to stand out as a no-nonsense custom in an already crowded segment.
We'll start from the ground up, where we get Bad Land-made wheels sized 21 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear. There's a big enough difference between the two wheels to make the ride look particularly aggressive, especially given the huge width of the rear piece: 330 mm.
Both wheels wear Avon Cobra tires and are protected by Bad Land fenders. At the front a girder fork is used to support it, while the back one is held in place by a wide swingarm made from aluminum.
The frame of the bike has been modified, although we're not told to what extent. The engine inside it however is still the stock one, only breathing through a custom exhaust system and drawing in fuel from an aftermarket tank.
The Harley-Davidson Gaga Special is at the receiving end of a series of other re-interpreted pieces of hardware, including the headlight, handlebar, and grips. Elsewhere, Brembo supplied the braking system and foot controls.
The cost of this heavily modified V-Rod is not public knowledge, and neither is the bike's present whereabouts. We do expect it to be worth in the tens of thousands of dollars, and it most likely still resides in the same country it was made, Japan.

New BMW iX2 Revealed - The Electric X2 That We Won’t Get In The U.S.
New BMW iX2 Revealed - The Electric X2 That We Won’t Get In The U.S.
The launch of the extensively redesigned BMW X2 has led to the introduction of the brand’s first ever all-electric variant, the iX2. It is scheduled to make its debut in March 2024 as a single trim variant, the iX2 xDrive30, and will be produced alongside the combustion-powered X2 at BMW‘s factory in Regensburg, Germany.
Visually, the new X2 is quite a bit different than the outgoing model, although the styling differences between the X2 and the iX2 are quite minor. It rocks very similar front and rear fascias to the combustion models but obviously has faux kidney grilles and lacks any exhaust pipes. However, it’s beneath the surface where the most substantial changes have been made.
The iX2 will initially be available exclusively in xDrive30 guise. This model combines an electric motor at the front axle with one at the rear axle to deliver a combined 309 hp (230kW / 313 PS) and 364 lb-ft (494 Nm) of torque. Feeding these motors with juice is a 64.8 kWh battery pack and while not a performance-focused SUV, the iX2 xDrive30 can still hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in an impressive 5.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h). It has a WLTP range of between 417 km and 449 km (259 – 279 miles).
As standard, the iX2 xDrive30 rolls out special 17-inch light alloy wheels and includes a regenerative braking system. It is further differentiated from the combustion models due to the presence of strengthened cross members for the front and rear bumpers that are designed to help protect the battery in a crash.
BMW has equipped the iX2 xDrive30 with its Combined Charging Unit that enables AC charging at a rate of 11 kW as standard, allowing it to be charged from 0 to 100% in 6.5 hours. When connected to a 22 kW AC charger, that time drops to 3 hours and 45 minutes. The iX2 also supports 130 kW DC charger that drops the charge time further, allowing the battery to be filled from 10-80% in 29 minutes. The compact model also has a thermal management system to cool or warm the battery before the driver stops at a fast-charging station.

2024 Jaguar F-Type ZP Edition Is Brand’s Final Combustion Sports Car
2024 Jaguar F-Type ZP Edition Is Brand’s Final Combustion Sports Car
Jaguar is sending the F-Type into retirement with one final version, dubbed the F-Type ZP Edition. Not only will this new model serve as the final iteration of the F-Type but it will also be Jaguar’s final combustion-powered sports car as it transitions to an all-electric line-up.
The British marque will build just 150 examples of the F-Type ZP Edition throughout 2024, the car’s final production year. It is being built in both Coupe and Convertible body styles and will be offered in just two colorways that pay homage to the E-Type ZP Collection introduced earlier this year. One of these colorways consists of Oulton Blue Gloss paint with a Mars Red and Ebony duotone leather interior while the second colorway consists of Crystal Grey Gloss paint with a Navy Blue and Ebony duotone leather interior.
Regardless of which colorway customers opt for, both have Porcelain White Gloss racing-style roundels on the doors and Porcelain White Gloss front grille surrounds. Additionally, the F-Type ZP Edition will be sold exclusively with a series of gloss black exterior elements, including the wing mirrors and brake calipers. The car also receives exclusive branding on the fenders.
Elsewhere, Jaguar has designed Black Diamond Turned 20-inch forged alloy wheels for the limited-run model and will add a ‘One of 150’ SV Bespoke plaque into the cabin of each example built.
Each and every F-Type ZP Edition to be built has the same flagship powertrain as the F-Type R P575. This means a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Coupled to this engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power through all four wheels. The car can hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and continue through to an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph .
“As Jaguar embarks on the boldest transformation in its history, to become a modern luxury all-electric brand from 2025, this is an unrepeatable celebration of Jaguar’s internal combustion sports car provenance,” Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover said. “F-TYPE has captivated sports car drivers for more than a decade, just as the E-type did five decades before it. The ZP Edition is the ultimate celebration of that lineage, joining an illustrious roster of heritage-inspired collector’s editions including the 2015 Project 7 and 2020 Heritage 60 Edition.”

2024 BMW i7 M70 xDrive Puts Some More Pep in the i7's Step
2024 BMW i7 M70 xDrive Puts Some More Pep in the i7's Step
Fans of braggadocious luxobarges may have mixed feelings about the 2024 BMW i7 M70 xDrive. On one hand, BMW remains firm in its insistence that a proper M7—one that would follow M's ethos of building road cars from track-borne inspiration—isn't going to happen. On the other hand, the i7 M70 is so thoroughly competent at everything it does that those folks may finally be willing to settle. Maybe. But they should.
The meat and potatoes of the i7 M70 lies under the body. A 255-hp motor—the same one you'll find up front in the i5 M60—drives the front wheels, and a 483-hp monster (BMW's most powerful e-motor to date) lurks aft. Combine the two with a dollop of launch control or the aptly labeled "BOOST" paddle on the steering wheel, and output is an impressive 650 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque. Otherwise, however, you'll have to make do with a paltry 748 pound-feet.
That all courses its way to the pavement through single-speed transmissions, express-shipping the i7 M70 to 60 mph in a manufacturer-estimated 3.5 seconds. Considering our test of an i7 xDrive60 shaved four-tenths off BMW's supplied 4.5-second figure, we reckon this half cruise ship/half cruise missile will prove even more unhinged when we test it.
No matter what the stopwatch says, the experience of Full Send in the i7 M70 isn't far off from launching the GMC Hummer EV, or perhaps a Saturn V. Grip the wheel like you'll fall off the planet if you let go, hit the right pedal, and the nose rises as the entire car rail-guns its way forward. We chose not to have the piped-in Hans Zimmer Sound Experience assault our eardrums as this happens, but fans of Interstellar may choose to leave it on and shout, "Don't let me leave, Murph!" for a little extra flavor. It's brutal and silly and exactly as over the top as a $169,495 7-series—roughly $45,000 more than the next-step-down i7 xDrive60—should be.
Of course, BMW didn't only go to the gym on leg day. The i7 M70 features a wealth of upgrades meant to improve stability and handling. There's an additional shear panel between the firewall and the strut towers for extra front-end rigidity. Four-corner air springs and electronically controlled dampers are standard, with M adding its touch to the air springs and hydraulics. Rear-axle steering can turn the back wheels up to 2.5 degrees, while active roll stabilization helps minimize lean in corners.
Does it work? You betcha, insofar as anything can make an i7 M70 (estimated curb weight: 6050 pounds) feel light on its feet. With everything given a Sport-mode stiffening, the M70 does a commendable sports-sedan cosplay, keeping body motions in check and making impressively tidy work of switchbacks where each lane is barely wider than the car itself. Some cars shrink around you as the speed rises—not this one. The lane-departure warning will keep you acutely aware of this BMW's width.
But don't think that the pursuit of playing switchback surgeon has in any way compromised the i7. For as capable as the M70 is when hustling, it's just as happy to dial it back and focus on luxuriating. Like its less powerful xDrive60 sibling, this car will positively glide all day long, soaking up any hint of bad roads and transmitting little motion to the cabin. Wind and road noise are buried three towns over, although the optional summer tires may detract from the hush; stick with all-seasons if you don't plan on acting like a hoodlum.
Providing the electrons for these shenanigans is the same battery pack that's in the i7 xDrive60, measuring 101.7 kilowatt-hours of usable capacity. EPA range is 291 miles with the standard 21-inch wheels and 274 with the 20s, 16 and 24 miles shy, respectively, of the xDrive60's figures. However, our 75-mph real-world range test in an xDrive60 ended after just 260 miles—a far cry from both the EPA's figures and our tests of the i7's closest competitor, the Mercedes-Benz EQS—and there doesn't seem to be any reason to assume the M70 would do any better.

2024 Toyota Venza Nightshade Edition Revealed
2024 Toyota Venza Nightshade Edition Revealed
After a long hiatus, Toyota brought the Venza back as a hybrid midsize SUV with a few upscale touches for the 2021 model year. For the 2023 model year, the Venza received a few updates and a new Nightshade Edition. With the Venza coming off of a few changes for 2023, we expect the 2024 Venza to be a carryover model.
The exterior design of the 2024 Toyota Venza should go unchanged for the new model year. The midsize SUV currently features an upscale design with small triangular headlights, a slim grille, and a wide front air intake. The Venza features simple body lines and a curvy roofline. Razor-sharp taillights that are connected by a horizontal bar, a hefty rear spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets are found at the back.
We don’t expect to see any changes to the current Venza’s interior design for 2024. The electrified midsize SUV has a high-end design with a tiered dashboard layout and a striking center console that juts out of the dash toward the front passengers. The large central touchscreen is positioned in front of the dashboard, while touch capacitive controls for the HVAC system are located on the lower portion of the center console. While the Venza is classified as a midsize SUV, it offers less interior space than the compact RAV4.
Standard tech features on the current Toyota Venza include an eight-inch touchscreen, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a wireless charging pad, navigation, a virtual assistant, six audio speakers, five USB ports, satellite radio, and an HD Radio. These features should continue to be standard for the 2024 model. Available features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen and nine audio speakers.
Toyota offers the current Venza with a single powertrain that should remain the same for 2024. The midsize SUV comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with two electric motors. Output is rated at 219 horsepower. A continuously variable automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard. This powertrain should go unchanged for the upcoming model year.
The current Venza comes with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite of advanced safety features. The hybrid SUV comes with blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam assist. Available features include a surround-view parking camera, parking sensors, and a head-up display. These features should continue to be available on the 2024 Venza.
According to fleet production data, we expect the 2024 Toyota Venza to enter into production in early October 2023. Without any expected changes, pricing for the 2024 Venza should remain close to the current model that starts at $35,455 with destination.

FIRSTLOOK - 2024 Skoda KODIAQ iV Revealed
FIRSTLOOK - 2024 Skoda KODIAQ iV Revealed
Skoda claims the Kodiaq iV plug-in hybrid has a pure electric driving range of at least 100km using the WLTP standard. The car supports AC charging up to 11kW, and DC fast charging up 50kW.
The binnacle in front of the driver houses a standard 10.0-inch instrumentation display, which is complemented by a free-standing 10.0-inch touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard.
Also standard is a nine-speaker sound system, four 45W USB-C ports — two in the front, and two at the back — and a 15W USB-C port in the back of the mirror. The transmission selector has been shifted from the centre tunnel to a wand behind the steering wheel, freeing up space for a larger 2.1L lidded storage area.
Higher-specced trim levels have a head-up display, a larger 13.0-inch touchscreen, and a 14-speaker Canton sound system.
The seat fabric and carpets feature recycled polyester, while the umbrella and ice scraper are made from “sustainable materials”.
Due to the timing of the new Kodiaq in the Volkswagen Group’s model cadence, the second-generation crossover neatly sidesteps some of the automaker’s recent user interface faux pas.
Despite the presence of a large touchscreen, the new Kodiaq has a bank of three rotary dials with built in displays — dubbed Smart Dials — that can be configured to adjust various elements of the climate control and entertainment systems. There are also traditional push buttons and scroll wheels on the steering wheel spokes.
Options on the new Kodiaq include a 15W wireless charging area that can house two smartphones, ergonomic front seats with pneumatic massage, and a matrix LED headlight system with 36 lighting segments.
On the safety front, new features include warnings if traffic is detected when opening a door; Collision Avoidance Assist, which enhances steering inputs when trying to avoid an accident; and warnings and autonomous braking when cars, pedestrians or cyclists are detected when turning into traffic or crossroads.
There’s also an autonomous parking assistant that can do head-in and parallel parking while the driver is either inside or outside the vehicle.

FIRSTLOOK - The 2024 BMW i5 eDrive40 - Brooklyn Grey Metallic
FIRSTLOOK - The 2024 BMW i5 eDrive40 - Brooklyn Grey Metallic
BMW hasn't done anything too drastic with the 5 Series' styling, choosing simply to clean up the car's flanks, fit some new lights at the front and rear, and change the grille slightly. And the i5 really doesn't look all that different from the more conventionally powered versions that also populate the range. The overall result is a more minimalist, more modern design that's sure to stand the test of time, and offer customers all the style and intent they expect from a 5 Series. It's a good-looking car, and the decision to ensure the i5 doesn't look too different will doubtless play well with a multitude of buyers.
While BMW may not have done too much to the 5 Series' exterior, the company has certainly made changes to the cabin. The centrepiece is the Curved Display that houses the digital instrument cluster and the touchscreen, both of which are massive, clear, bright screens that are easy to read and offer plenty of configuration options. BMW has given them both the latest Operating System 8.5 technology, too, making them even more intuitive and user-friendly.
In a bid to clean up the 5 Series' cabin, the central touchscreen has taken on responsibility for the car's climate control panel, with buttons largely eliminated from the dashboard. The BMW system is much better than most touchscreen executions, but it's still less ergonomic and intuitive than conventional switchgear. That said, BMW has retained the iDrive controller on the centre console, which allows easier navigation of the screen while you're on the move.
But perhaps the highlight of the Operating System 8.5 is the option of the AirConsole game system. As the name suggests, it effectively turns the car into a games console, with occupants controlling their avatar through their smartphones. The games aren't detailed RPGs like Red Dead Redemption, but Mario Kart-style racers and cartoon football games. They're good fun, and of course, they're only available when the car is stationary. If you're charging up, they're a good distraction.
But whether you're on the move or not, you'll appreciate some of the materials in the i5's cabin. This is the first BMW to offer an all-vegan interior as standard, with a leather-effect material that has finally made the grade. It all feels very plush, but we aren't completely sold on the i5's extensive use of glossy plastic, which feels a little bit cheap for a car that costs so much. There's no arguing with the way it's all bolted together, though.
Inside the i5, space is bountiful, with those in the front getting ample elbow room and electrically adjustable seats that more or less ensure you can get comfortable no matter what shape or size you might be. Further back, the news is equally good, with enough legroom for rear-seat passengers to sit in comfort and enough headroom for even very tall passengers to sit up normally.
The only slight catch, therefore, is the boot space, which at 490 litres is hardly puny, but it is smaller than that of the Mercedes-Benz EQE. It's also smaller than that of the basic 520i petrol 5 Series, which offers a slightly more competitive 520-litre luggage space. Neat, that. If you do want more room, however, a 'Touring' estate version of the 5 Series is expected next year.

FIRSTLOOK - The 2024 BMW i5 eDrive40 - Tanzanite Blue Metallic
The new 5 Series retains the previous car's sporty, refined character. BMW adds unique touches to differentiate the i5 M60 from its gas-powered and lesser electric counterparts. The M60 has a black front apron, gloss-black side skirts, and mirror caps. It rides on 19-inch M wheels, and the rear features a prominent air diffuser. The available M Sport Professional package adds flared side skirts, an illuminated grille insert, and a small rear spoiler.
The 2024 i5 is very similar to the gas 5 Series inside. BMW equips sport seats as standard, while the M60 adds multi-contour seats. The car is available with leather-free upholstery options, but leather is available. Buyers can add extended Merino leather in several color choices. An M Sport package brings M pedals, an M driver's footrest, and unique infotainment options.
The base i5 eDrive40 gets a single electric motor on its rear axle, making 335 horsepower and up to 317 pound-feet of torque using the temporary boost mode. Acceleration is strong, with BMW claiming the run to 60 mph takes 5.7 seconds. According to BMW, the car can reach an electronically limited 120-mph top speed.
The M60 xDrive adds a second electric motor on the front axle, deriving a combined 590 hp and up to 605 pound-feet of torque from the powertrain. Acceleration is much quicker than the standard car. According to BMW, the i5 M60 takes just 3.7 seconds to reach 60 mph and can hit a top speed of 143 mph.
Both i5 models are available with an M Sport package that brings a temporary boost mode, and the M60 comes standard with an M Sport Package Pro, which adds launch control. Active Roll Stabilization is available for the M60. BMW says it uses electric swivel motors to neutralize body roll and improve steering response.
The new i5 comes with an 84.3-kWh battery, which enables a 295-mile range for the eDrive40 and a 256-mile range for the M60. It can charge at up to 205 kW on a DC fast charger, which can fill the battery from 10 to 80 percent in a half hour. The car features selectable driving modes to preserve the battery or improve performance, and it has anticipatory thermal management to speed charging and maintain range. BMW offers two years of complimentary 30-minute charging sessions to new i5 owners.
The i5 has several advanced driver aids as standard and adds a few new features for 2024. The car uses an array of cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors, along with heavy-duty software and computing power, to create a model of the environment around it.
The available Driving Assistance Professional package now includes a hands-free driving assistant that works up to 85 mph. It enables automatic lane changes by tracking the driver's eye movements to either side mirror. An automated parking system comes standard, along with a backup assistant that can maneuver the car into and out of tight spots.
BMW equips its new curved display panel, which includes a 14.9-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The system runs on the automaker's iDrive 8.5 infotainment interface, which features new graphics and a quick-select menu system for faster, less distracting interactions. A head-up display and gesture controls are available, and buyers can upgrade the car with a new AirConsole video gaming system. Passengers can use their smartphones as controllers to play while the car is stationary, and BMW will offer several games at launch.

FIRSTLOOK - 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive - Alpine White Metallic
FIRSTLOOK - 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive - Alpine White Metallic
BMW's executive express is going electric with the mid-size 2024 i5 sedan, which will fill the gap between the 10Best award-winning i4 and the extra-premium i7 flagship. Like those two EV four-doors, the i5 is expected to blend driving pleasure with upscale creature comforts. Two powertrains are coming, starting with a rear-drive eDrive40 model with 335 horsepower. The dual-motor M60 xDrive boosts horsepower to a stout 590 ponies and provides all-wheel-drive traction. We had a chance to drive a prototype of the latter in France and came away impressed with its athleticism and satisfied with its onboard technology features. The i5 faces a growing number of medium-size luxury electric cars made to court moneyed buyers looking for eco-friendly choices. Among them are the Genesis Electrified G80 and the Mercedes-Benz EQE, as well as segment stalwarts such as the Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model S.
Two i5 models are offered, starting with the 335-hp eDrive40, which drives the rear wheels via a single electric motor. A hotter M60 xDrive model adds a second electric motor on the front axle for a combined 590 hp. During our initial drive in an i5 M60 prototype, we were impressed by the sedan's agile handling, confidence-inspiring levels of cornering grip, and muscular dual-motor powertrain. A test drive of production models in Portugal reaffirmed those driving impressions and gave us a chance to appreciate the i5's refined ride over the area's pockmarked pavement, too. While there, we drove both the eDrive40 and M60 models, and we estimate that the more powerful of the two powertrains can rocket the i5 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. M60 models also come with active anti-roll bars, a sporty suspension tune, wider tires, and rear-wheel steering, which are all intended to give the car a more athletic feel.
An 84.3-kWh battery pack lies beneath the i5's floorboards, which BMW says holds enough charge to power the eDrive40 model for 295 miles between charges. The dual-motor M60 model is less efficient and carries an estimated range of 256 miles per charge. The car's battery pack can be hooked up to DC fast-charging stations and is said to be capable of charging from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes on such a connection. Speaking of charging, BMW will include three years of free 30-minute charging sessions at Electrify America charging stations with every new i5.
The i5's cabin is just as spacious and posh as that of the gasoline-powered 5-series. The battery doesn't intrude on cabin space, but trunk space is slightly less generous here than in the 5-series. Leather upholstery is still available, but BMW is launching a new faux-leather upholstery called Veganza in the i5; a set of glass interior controls is also available and adds a classy touch to the sedan's cabin. Heated and ventilated front seats with massage are optional on the eDrive40 and standard on the M60 xDrive.
The i5 offers the expected driver-assistance features as standard, including automated emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring, but more advanced features—including BMW's Highway Assistant hands-free driving mode—are optional. For more information about the i5's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.
The i5 comes standard with the same warranty coverage as BMW's other electrified models, which means basic coverage for four years or 50,000 miles and more generous protection for the electric-vehicle components. All new BMWs also come with a three-year complimentary maintenance plan.

2024 Honda ZR-V - Futuristic Hybrid Compact SUV
2024 Honda ZR-V - Futuristic Hybrid Compact SUV
The Honda Z Runabout Vehicle has been on sale in Japan for close to a year and now the ZR-V has officially landed in Europe. What is it? Essentially, it's the HR-V sold in North America where the model is larger than the namesake vehicle offered on the Old Continent. In other words, the Euro-spec ZR-V fills a gap we didn't know existed between the HR-V and the CR-V. One can never have too many crossovers, right?
The ZR-V can be best described as the Civic of crossovers and is offered in Europe exclusively with a 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain you can't have on the US-spec HR-V for some reason. This electrified four-pot version is also sold at home in the Land of the Rising Sun and offers a combined output of 181 horsepower and 315 Newton meters (232 pound-feet) of torque.
Details regarding performance have yet to be released, but Honda promises "powerful acceleration comparable to a V6 3.0-liter engine" thanks to the ICE working in conjunction with a pair of electric motors for a hybrid setup borrowed from the Civic e:HEV. Output is channeled to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). In Japan, you can get the electrified ZR-V with all-wheel drive.
It should be mentioned the ZR-V is 4570 millimeters (180 inches) long and 1840 mm (72.4 in) wide, thus making it closer in size to the outgoing CR-V rather than the next-generation model unveiled today in European specification. With the rear seats folded, it offers a cargo capacity of 1,291 liters (45.6 cubic feet).
Unveiled today at the European Media Event in Offenbach, Germany, the ZR-V is slated to go on sale this fall and take on the Nissan Qashqai and other mainstream compact crossovers.

FIRSTLOOK - 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive - Pure Grey Metallic
FIRSTLOOK - 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive - Pure Grey Metallic
Like the i5 eDrive40, the M60 xDrive's styling isn't all that radical, but there are more differences to mark out this range-topping model. The most powerful i5 gets a different, sportier grille with a black surround, and there are slightly different bumpers and door mirror caps. The whole car sits a little lower, too, thanks to its model-specific suspension set-up that sees the ride height reduced by 8mm compared with the eDrive40. It's a subtle change, but it gives the M60 xDrive a bit more intent and aggression that suits its position at the head of the i5 range.
Although the M60 xDrive is more performance-orientated than the eDrive40, it doesn't feel all that different inside. Sure, there are some subtle styling tweaks and some different graphics in the touchscreen, but otherwise it's business as usual.
You get the same wide, clean dashboard design with a crystalline plastic ambient lighting system, and you get the same Curved Display that offers a touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster in one housing. It's one of the better infotainment systems on the market, thanks in part to its logical menus and clear displays, but also because it comes with the iDrive rotary controller that makes navigating the screen much easier when you're on the move. As with the eDrive40, the screen still houses all the climate control functions, which is a bit of a pain when you're trying to drive, but the touchscreen functionality is much better than in some competitor models.
On the plus side, though, the quality is much the same as in the eDrive40, so while a few plastics feel a little cheap, most of the switchgear, materials and touch points feel really strong and robust. Add in the soft vegan leather you get as standard (you can have the real deal as an option) and it feels every inch the premium product.
Because the M60’s cabin is so similar to that of the eDrive40, the practicality credentials remain unchanged. Both cars have the same 490-litre boot – 30 litres smaller than that of the basic 520i petrol model – and considerably smaller than that of the Mercedes-Benz EQE. However, interior space is ample, with loads of room at the front and a great driving position, while there’s bags of rear legroom and even enough headroom for tall passengers to sit comfortably in the back.
Unlike the eDrive40 version of the i5, which has a single electric motor on the rear axle, the M60 xDrive version has two motors providing all-wheel drive and a mammoth 517hp. Or, in its sportiest setting, 601hp for short periods. That's quite a lot, and it means despite the heavy battery giving it an unladen weight of just over 2.3 tonnes, this version of the i5 gets from 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds. Flat out, it'll travel at a limited top speed of 143mph.
That power isn't just down to the twin motors, though, because powering it all is an 81.2kWh lithium-ion battery that offers a range of between 455 and 516km on a single charge. Naturally, that isn't as impressive as the eDrive40's rang of up to 362 miles, but it isn't bad for such a fast and weighty car. And when the charge is exhausted, the battery will charge at speeds of up to 205kW, theoretically permitting a 10-to-80-per-cent charge in half an hour.
Despite its weight and size – the i5 is still a 5 Series, so it’s hardly compact – the M60 xDrive is quite a nimble thing. Like the eDrive40 model, it has fantastic balance, but the M60 version adds a fraction more body control courtesy of its lower, slightly stiffer suspension. The difference isn’t enormous, but the M60 is that fraction quicker to turn into a corner, with the body following the front wheels slightly more eagerly. The steering is great, too, and that gives you plenty of confidence when you’re positioning the car on the road.
That comes in handy when the M60 snaps, and it can kick a little when pushed hard. With that much power heading to the wheels – even with all-wheel drive – the i5 is more than capable of stepping out of line, particularly in greasy conditions. But it’s so intuitive and controllable that it isn’t a big drama, and it’s fairly easy to sort out.

2024 Skoda Kamiq - Small SUV facelifted for 2024
2024 Skoda Kamiq - Small SUV facelifted for 2024
The Skoda Kamiq small SUV is being facelifted for 2024 with enhanced styling giving it a more rugged appearance. The new Skoda Kamiq also gets extra standard equipment, enhanced safety assist tech and LED matrix headlights as an option for the first time.
The new Skoda Kamiq is being updated for 2024 to help it stay competitive in the ever-expanding small SUV sector. Alternatives include the Volkswagen T-Cross, Ford Puma, Vauxhall Mokka, Kia Niro, Hyundai Kona, Nissan Juke and Honda HR-V – and there are many more besides.
New Skoda Kamiq prices have yet to be confirmed. The current model starts from around £23,500. Despite its extra equipment, the new Skoda Kamiq will remain competitively priced, and is likely to start from around £24,000.
At the front, the new Skoda Kamiq has a larger and more upright grille. The double slats seen on other Skoda SUVs are more pronounced, and form a U-shape at the lower end. The lower diffuser is redesigned, and there are new headlights too. The upper light is slimmer, and incorporates the daytime running lights.
Latest ‘Top LED Matrix’ headlights, with hexagonal LED modules, are now an option. Meanwhile, 17-inch alloy wheels are standard and 18-inches are optional.
The new Skoda Kamiq has a redesigned rear apron, with body colour surfaces and a black central diffuser section. Skoda says there’s more silver lower body detailing, to enhance the Kamiq’s SUV credentials, while the rear is capped off by ‘Skoda’ lettering on the tailgate.
Inside, the new Skoda Kamiq now has a fully digital dashboard as standard. An 8.0-inch instrument display is standard, with an optional 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit offering a choice of several different layouts.
New Skoda Kamiq fitted with the optional Climatronic climate control system benefit from a new and easier to use control panel. Skoda says safety assist tech has been improved as well.
The new Skoda Kamiq continues with the same well-proven engine line-up as today’s model. All powerplants are TSI turbo petrol engines. The entry-level motor is a 1.0-litre TSI 95 three-cylinder with a five-speed manual gearbox. Fuel economy should average around 52mpg, with 0-62mph performance in 11.0 seconds.
The more powerful 1.0-litre TSI 115 will offer a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic gearboxes. With 115ps, it is 5ps more powerful than today’s engine. It will do 0-62mph in around 10.0 seconds, and average around 49mpg.
The new Skoda Kamiq’s front-wheel drive platform will come in standard guise, or with a sportier setup that’s lowered by 10mm. The architecture continues to be shared with other Volkswagen Group models such as the Volkswagen T-Cross and SEAT Arona.

Updated 2024 Mazda 2 hybrid gets a new face, but keeps Toyota body and soul
Updated 2024 Mazda 2 hybrid gets a new face, but keeps Toyota body and soul
Mazda has revealed an updated version of its hybrid supermini, featuring refreshed styling front and rear. Based closely (no, entirely) on the Toyota Yaris, the Mazda 2 Hybrid has until now only had the Mazda badging to distinguish it. This update changes that.
The two still share their basic body and lights, but new bumpers, plus some fresh wheels, have made a substantial difference to the car’s look. This helps the hybrid sit much more cohesively in Mazda’s stylish range, and helps create some distance between the 2 and its Toyota Yaris sister car.
Inside, the simple and hard wearing interior has been left largely intact, with only minor changes to the trim and interior colours, but the tech package has been updated. This includes a larger 10.5-inch touchscreen now sitting atop the dash, with slicker smartphone connection and higher screen resolution. The interface is still Toyota’s basic system, though, rather than Mazda’s click-wheel MZD-Connect setup found in other models. There’s also a new 12.3-inch digital dial pack on high-spec models, plus high-end options like a head-up display and a glass roof.
Of course, the key reason for this collaboration is Mazda’s desire to offer a hybrid supermini powertrain, something which this new model continues to do. Under the bonnet sits the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a small but effective self-charging hybrid system. It produces 114bhp, but more importantly is capable of a very impressive 74.3mpg on the combined WLTP cycle and only produces 87g/km of CO2.
UK prices and specifications have yet to be confirmed, but the existing model’s price point and range structure should remain largely the same. As it stands, the three-model line up starts at £23,730, but the new model will probably mimic the four-trim range structure available elsewhere in the Mazda range.
Not to confuse things, the mild-hybrid Mazda 2 supermini is also still available. That is Mazda’s own model and a completely different car to this Mazda 2 Hybrid. It has also recently undergone a tidy facelift and starts at £18,615.

The 2023 KTM 890 Adventure Is A Middleweight Adventure Bike
The orange bike builder’s middleweight adventure cycle is sure to be a future classic thanks to its class-leading performance. The KTM 890 Adventure has been on the market for a couple of years, and for 2023 it gets some mild updates & tweaks to keep it on top of the competition.
2023’s updates include a new 5” TFT dashboard, some fresh bodywork, and various mechanical tweaks throughout the engine and suspension.
The Austrian-designed 889cc parallel twin engine makes 103 hp and 73 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers are translated into pure adventuring performance through a power-assisted slipper clutch and a six-speed gearbox. A bi-directional quick shifter can be optioned on this model to help accentuate the performance.
The WP APEX suspension has been retweaked for this model year to reflect the latest developments in offroad performance. Of course, thanks to easily adjustable rebound and compression damping on the 43 mm front forks, the bike can be fine-tuned to your liking. The rear monoshock features adjustable rebound and preload. At the bottom end of that suspension is a set of brand-new Pirelli Scorpion STR offroad tires wrapped around wire-spoked wheels.
As with the majority of the 2023 KTM lineup, the 890 Adventure is packed to the brim with technology and features, including a full suite of standard rider aids, such as ABS and wheelie control. Multiple riding modes come equipped within the bike to suit a variety of situations. Cruise control is a standard feature, and a connectivity unit can be optioned to draw navigation from your smartphone via Bluetooth.
The 890 also features an upgraded version called the 890 Adventure R – fundamentally the same bike, but with some key performance features that take it above and beyond. The primary features that separate the R from the standard adventure are a unique adjustable WP XPLOR 48 mm front fork setup and WP XPLOR Progressive damping rear shock. As a result of the uprated suspension, the R sits a touch higher than the standard model.
Additionally, the R has a higher front fender, allowing for more wheeling room, and a set of Mitas Enduro Trail tires, which were specifically designed with KTM in mind. The R model costs an additional $1,250 USD or $1,200 CAD.
The standard bike can be had in two colour configurations – KTM orange with black and white accents or grey and black with orange accents. The R model is only available for purchase in a white, blue and orange colourway.

Jerry Seinfeld Is The Collector Who Bought The World’s Most Expensive Porsche 996
Jerry Seinfeld Is The Collector Who Bought The World’s Most Expensive Porsche 996
Two weeks ago, Porsche made headlines when a restomod that recently emerged from its classics department sold for $1.2 million dollars. That made it the highest price 996-generation 911 to ever sell. Now, we’ve discovered that the person who put down that record-breaking sum was none other than noted Porsche enthusiast and comedian, Jerry Seinfeld.
The revelation was made on Instagram by Ray Shaffer, an automotive consultant at Broad Arrow Auctions, which conducted the auction in which the 1999 Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe was sold. He shared pictures of the car, as well as Seinfeld being handed the keys.
The car will now enter the comedian’s collection, being parked alongside other classics, such as the first-ever production Porsche 911 and a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, reports the DuPont Registry.
The latter is an appropriate stablemate, since the one-off 911 Classic Club Coupe borrows inspiration from it. The ducktail spoiler seen on the newly created car was directly influenced by the 911 Carrera RS 2.7, and is just one of a number of notable modifications.
In addition, it features Sport Grey Metallic paint, with light gray and blue accents, a double-dome roof, Fuchs alloys wheels, and more. Inside, it has houndstooth upholstery, an Alcantara headliner, as well more blue detailing, which is in the Porsche Club of America’s signature shade of “Club Blue.”
Of course, the most notable change for Seinfeld will be the engine. Gone is the stock 3.4-liter flat six, and in its place a 3.8-liter engine from an early 911 GT3 has been installed. It adds 85 hp (63 kW/86 PS) to the car, to bring maximum output to 381 horses (284 kW/386 PS). That goes to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and the car is slowed by bigger brakes, all of which were borrowed from the same car as the engine.
Built by Porsche Classics with input from the Porsche Club of America, this model was sold at an auction held at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 12 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the brand.

2024 Triumph Scrambler 400 X Rounds Out Scrambler Line
The second model in Triumph’s new “TR Series” range of single-cylinder bikes might share a platform with the entry-level Speed 400 but it adds an on-point scrambler style that’s likely to make it the bigger seller of the pair.
Called the Scrambler 400 X, it shares the same all-new 398cc single-cylinder engine as well as borrowing the Speed 400′s 3.4-gallon tank and side panels, but it’s more than just a set of wheels and longer fork. Triumph has tweaked the frame design to suit the Scrambler, and changed the seat, bars, and pegs to give a distinct stance and riding position. The result is a bike that manages to carve a distinct niche as a retro-styled alternative to modern mini-adventure models like BMW’s G 310 GS and even KTM’s 390 Adventure.
Let’s start with what’s shared across the new TR-series range. The engine is a DOHC four-valve single with finger followers to reduce valve train inertia and a reverse-rotating balancer shaft to reduce vibrations. Kicking out 39.5 hp at 8,000 rpm and 27.7 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,500 rpm, it’s in the same state of tune as the Speed 400. Power is driven though the same assist-and-slipper clutch and six-speed box, but with a revised final drive ratio to suit the larger diameter of the higher-profile rear tire. As on the Speed 400, there’s switchable traction control and a long, 10,000-mile service interval.
Not that it’s a serious off-roader, but there are nods to dirt-road use, including more travel from the suspension. There’s 5.9 inches of stroke front and rear—increases of 0.4 inch and 0.8 inch, respectively, compared to the Speed 400. Triumph also fit the 400 X with different wheels (a half-inch narrower at each end) and with a 19-inch front instead of the roadster’s 17-incher. Slightly chunky tread means the Metzeler Karoo Street tires will cope with loose surfaces, but they’re named “Street” for a reason.
