It’s was an epic day! We finally arrived on Alaskan soil and had a wonderful day. The rain lifted virtually every time Rick and I stepped into the outdoors, with the skies clearing periodically to allow us to enjoy a truly beautiful day. Between glaciers, massive waterfalls, Duck Shots, and epic views from the top of Mt. Roberts, we couldn’t have asked for a better day. Our 1st full day on the ship to Alaska started off beautiful, but as the day wore on, the seas began to get choppy resulting in our first port of call being cancelled due to winds at 45 MPH and an unexpected 2nd day at sea. But we made the best of things and decided to do our formal night and pictures. They came out wonderful. Hi everyone. Who would have thought 2019 would have been the end of an era and just a few short weeks into 2020 we’d see the beginning of a new era in our world! I could almost title this video Life Through the Covid Years, but I won’t. Please enjoy a snippet of my life through the difficult years of the pandemic. It saw the end of one career, the beginning of a new business, and a new and unexpected path in public service. It was a difficult time, but it was also a rewarding time. It also saw the passing of my mother from this life to the next and the birth of our third granddaughter. New friends, new focus, new direction. Never let a little thing like a pandemic get you down. With the pandemic in high motion and travel abroad pretty restricted, we decided year 2020 was the year to explore our home state of Wisconsin. The summer of 2020 saw us traveling to the far north of the state and visiting the Apostle Islands for my first time ever. Astoundingly beautiful, we spent a day on Lake Superior and in the quaint village of Bayfield.

As I begin to compile videos of some of our travels over the years, I begin with the State of Washington—one of the most beautiful states in the United States of America. From downtown Seattle, to Olympic National Park, to the volcanos of the state, there’s something for everyone. These images are from a family reunion trip we took in 2018 (video shows 2020, but it was 2018). It was my first time in the state, but not my last.

Hello! My name is Rebecca and I’m currently one of the Village of DeForest Trustees. I take my role as a Trustee very seriously and as such I try to keep residents of the Village informed about all things DeForest. The technology of the Village is steadily improving and it’s becoming much easier to access staff, board and committee meetings, and recordings from past meetings. In an attempt to reach a wider number of folks in our Village, I decided to begin a vlog that just talks about what’s going on in the Village that folks might otherwise miss. It’s that time of year again when we look at our year in the rear view mirror. This was a pretty epic year for us. Looking forward to what 2023 has in store for us! Started the year out getting over COVID and ended the year after traveling to 3 different countries, 6 different states, experiencing the coastline of Lake Michigan in winter, going back to work full-time, meeting new people and making new friends, and planning new adventures for the year to come.
