ME/CFS 💖 Navigating Flare-ups: The Power of Self-Compassion and Recovery
During a flare-up when symptoms like dysautonomia intensify it becomes even more challenging to stick to a pacing strategy.
The desire to regain a sense of normalcy and productivity can be strong but pushing through the flare-up can exacerbate symptoms and prolong recovery.
At times like these self-compassion becomes a crucial tool Acknowledging the frustration and that its okay to take things slowly is essential in navigating through the flare-up.
To stay the course with pacing it's crucial to cultivate patience and understanding for oneself.
ME/CFS is a fluctuating and unpredictable condition and setbacks are a part of the journey.

Part 2: Managing #MECFS Symptoms with The Polar Pacer Sports Watch & Real Time Heart Rate Monitoring
Hello everyone, I have been living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis for over 30 years. Yesterday I ordered a Polar Pacer watch that has the required heart rate monitor and ability to alert me when my heart rate exceeds predetermined limits. I will be trying the method of heart rate monitoring to see if it can help me reduce and hopefully prevent ME/CFS flare-ups and crashes.
My research tells me that heart rate monitoring can be an effective way to improve pacing, self-management and the prevention of flare-ups and crashes. I will keep you all informed of my progress as I experiment with this approach.
As someone living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), I have come to appreciate the importance of understanding my body's limits and of finding strategies to manage my activity levels, reduce stress, increase rest, avoid crashes and speed recovery.
One tool that has recently caught my attention is heart rate monitoring. In this introduction, I aim to shed light on what heart rate monitoring is and how it can benefit individuals, like me, who navigate the daily challenges of living with ME/CFS.
At its core, heart rate monitoring involves measuring and tracking my heart rate throughout the day and in real time, by wearing a heart rate monitor.
By keeping an eye on my heart rate, I hope to gain valuable insights into how my body is responding to different activities and exertion levels like standing, sitting, writing on my computer, taking a shower, washing dishes, going for short walks, etc. I will use this knowledge to help me make informed decisions about managing my energy expenditure and staying within my energy threshold.
By finding the right balance between activity and rest I hope to prevent post-exertional malaise (PEM) and reduce symptom exacerbation.
One of the key benefits of heart rate monitoring for individuals with ME/CFS is the ability to set personalized pacing strategies. Pacing involves finding the right balance between activity and rest to avoid triggering the dreaded post-exertional malaise (PEM), a hallmark symptom of ME/CFS.
By monitoring my heart rate during the day with a heart rate monitor, I will eventually identify my Personal threshold. In this way, I hope to identify the patterns and triggers that exacerbate symptoms, in order to more intuitively make necessary adjustments and to more successfully discover and stay within my personal optimal range of activity. In this way, I hope to manage my energy levels more effectively and thus improve my ability to prevent the onset of PEM and its accompanying symptoms.
To begin this experiment, I plan to stop whatever I am doing and practice deep breathing and relaxation techniques whenever my heart rate goes above 80 beats per minute to help promote calmness and reduce stress, which can positively impact symptom management.
As I embark on this heart rate monitoring journey, I am filled with hope and excitement for the potential benefits it may bring to my life with ME/CFS. I am eager to explore the world of heart rate monitoring and discover how it can help me navigate the ups and downs of daily living. I understand that it may take time to find my optimal heart rate zones and pacing strategies, but I am committed to the process and determined to make positive changes.
I want to extend my gratitude to all of you for joining me on this journey. Your support and encouragement mean the world to me. I promise to keep you updated on my progress through future videos, where I will share my experiences, insights, and any valuable tips I discover along the way.
I invite you all to share to share your experiences or tips related to heart rate monitoring or ME/CFS management in the comments section below.

💖 The Art of Mindful Breathing: A Step-by-Step Guide to Achieving Mindfulness. 😊
Engaging in this simple breathing exercise can provide a wide range of benefits for both the mind and body. By focusing on the breath, we can cultivate a sense of mindfulness and present-moment awareness, which can help reduce stress and anxiety. Additionally, regulating our breathing can slow down the heart rate and calm the nervous system, leading to a sense of relaxation and greater physical well-being. This practice can be done at any time, and for any length of time, making it a versatile tool for managing stress and promoting overall health and well-being.
Follow along or go at your own pace. Continue as long as you like and stop whenever you want to. Simply breathe in four counts, pause and breath out four counts.
Breathing In, I know I a breathing in …. Breathing out, I know I am breathing out…
Breathing in, 2,3.4. and pause… Breathing out 2,3,4,and pause…

#MECFS Tips: 💖 I'm Reducing Flare-ups & Managing my Symptoms Better with #Biofeedback & #Meditation
Biofeedback training in deep slow breathing can be highly beneficial for people living with MECFS. This type of training involves using sensors to monitor bodily functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, and muscle tension, and then teaching the individual how to consciously control these functions through breathing techniques. By learning how to control their breathing and relaxation response, individuals with MECFS can reduce symptoms such as fatigue, pain, and anxiety, and improve their overall quality of life. Biofeedback training can also help individuals develop a greater sense of control over their symptoms, which can lead to increased feelings of empowerment and hope.

I'm Saving my #MECFS Life with Daily 10-minute Slow Deep Breathing Practices. You Can Too! #SelfCare
You know, It is possible to regulate our autonomic nervous system manually and thus improve our physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. In the context of MECFS & long COVID, slow breathing and other techniques that engage the parasympathetic branch of our autonomic nervous system, have been shown to help alleviate symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, and shortness of breath experienced by many of us who live with chronic fatigue. It makes a lot of sense and it encourages me personally to get better at doing things that help to manually regulate the autonomic nervous system. In my personal experience, I have found that incorporating a daily 10-minute slow breathing exercise in the morning and again at night has been beneficial in managing my symptoms. I would like to encourage you all to look into learning more about the benefits of regular slow deep breathing practices.

💖You Know, Living with #MECFS 👉 I mean, Seriously, They Just Don't Get It.🤣
You know, living with chronic fatigue isn't all bad. I mean, seriously, have you ever tried to explain to your non-fatigued friends how amazing it feels to just stay in and watch Amazon prime in peace? They just don't get it. 🤣
Using positive affirmations can be a powerful tool when facing the challenges of ME/CFS. Affirmations can help shift negative thoughts and beliefs that may be contributing to symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, and depression. Overall, incorporating daily affirmations into our self-care routine can be a simple yet effective way to help manage the impact of ME/CFS on our lives.

😀 Positive Affirmations for #MECFS | Cultivating a Positive Mindset by Reinforcing Our Strengths.
Using positive affirmations can be a powerful tool when facing the challenges of ME/CFS. Affirmations can help shift negative thoughts and beliefs that may be contributing to symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, and depression. By repeating positive statements to ourselves, we can start to reprogram our subconscious mind and cultivate a more positive and resilient mindset. Affirmations can also help us focus on our strengths and what we are capable of, rather than solely on our limitations. Overall, incorporating daily affirmations into our self-care routine can be a simple yet effective way to help manage the impact of ME/CFS on our lives.

💖 Poor #SleepHygiene & Sleep Quality Aggravate #MECFS & #LongCOVID Symptoms.
You know, sometimes I think my MECFS symptoms seem similar to sleep deprivation. Which kinda makes sense since MECFS is know for “un-refreshing” sleep. Although CPAP has not helped much, I'm still a fan of improving sleep hygiene. I have found that there are several theories that suggest that sleep deprivation and poor sleep quality may contribute to the symptoms experienced by people with ME/CFS.
One theory is that poor sleep quality may lead to an increased production of inflammatory cytokines, which are known to play a role in the immune dysfunction observed in ME/CFS.
Another theory is that poor sleep quality may contribute to the dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system, which is often observed in people with ME/CFS.
This dysregulation can lead to symptoms such as orthostatic intolerance (inability to tolerate upright posture), sleep disturbances, and cognitive dysfunction.
Additionally, studies have found that people with ME/CFS often experience disruptions in their sleep patterns, including altered sleep stages, increased nighttime awakenings, and reduced total sleep time.
These disruptions may contribute to the fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, and other symptoms experienced by people with ME/CFS.
Overall, while the exact relationship between sleep disturbance and ME/CFS symptoms is not fully understood, there is evidence to suggest that poor sleep quality may contribute to the severity and persistence of symptoms experienced by people with ME/CFS.
I’ve used a cpap machine and oxygen at night for many years. It makes a small but significant enough difference to keep using it. But, it doesn’t seem to fix the un-refreshing sleep problem.
Medical research has shown that even small amounts of meditation can have significant benefits to a person's wellbeing. Studies have found that regular meditation can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as improve cognitive function and overall mood. Additionally, meditation has been linked to improvements in cardiovascular health and immune system function. These findings highlight the potential of meditation as a simple and accessible tool for promoting health and wellbeing, even in individuals with busy schedules or limited time for self-care practices.
Mindfulness moments are brief and accessible moments of self-care that can help you connect with your thoughts and emotions, reduce stress, and enhance your overall well-being.
Mindfulness moments are a simple and enjoyable way to practice mindfulness and meditation, even if you're short on time. By focusing on the present moment and immersing yourself in art and music, you can learn to let go of distractions and negative thoughts and develop a sense of inner peace and stillness.
Mindfulness moments are an opportunity to pause, breathe, and take a moment to be fully present in the here and now. They can help you cultivate a sense of calmness and clarity that can benefit all areas of your life.
Mindfulness moments are a gentle reminder to slow down and take care of yourself. They offer a way to recharge your energy levels and replenish your inner resources, even if you only have a few moments to spare.
Mindfulness moments are a way to infuse your day with a sense of peace and tranquility. They can be a source of comfort and inspiration, and a reminder that it's possible to find moments of beauty and stillness even in the midst of a busy day.

#MECFS 💖 A wide range of benefits for both the mind and body by practicing Alternate Nostril Breathing
Alternate nostril breathing is a breathing technique that has been practiced for centuries in the yogic tradition. Alternate nostril breathing is also known to have a number of physiological benefits. By focusing on the breath and practicing slow, deep breathing, we can lower our heart rate, reduce stress, and promote relaxation throughout the body. This can be particularly helpful for those who suffer from anxiety, depression, or other stress-related conditions.
Some of the primary benefits of alternate nostril breathing include the experience of greater health, vitality, and spiritual awareness.
Research has also shown that practicing alternate nostril breathing can improve respiratory function and reduce symptoms of asthma and other breathing disorders. By practicing alternate nostril breathing, we can strengthen the lungs and breathing muscles, and improve overall respiratory health.
Alternate nostril breathing can also be a useful tool for managing stress and anxiety, which are common symptoms in people with ME/CFS. By slowing down and deepening the breath, alternate nostril breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which can promote relaxation and reduce feelings of tension and anxiety.
Furthermore, research has shown that practicing alternate nostril breathing can improve cognitive function, including memory and attention span. This is particularly important for people with ME/CFS who may experience cognitive difficulties, such as brain fog and difficulty concentrating.
Alternate nostril breathing is a simple and accessible practice that can be done anywhere, at any time. Whether you are sitting at your desk, stuck in traffic, or lying in bed at night, you can take a few minutes to focus on your breath and practice..
This makes it a great tool for managing stress and improving overall well-being, even in the midst of a busy or hectic day.
In conclusion, alternate nostril breathing is a powerful technique that offers a wide range of benefits for both the mind and body. By balancing our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, alternate breathing promotes relaxation, and improved respiratory function.
This practice can help us to achieve greater health, vitality, and peace of mind. Whether you are an experienced yogi or a complete beginner, adding alternate nostril breathing to your daily routine can be a simple and effective way to support your overall health and well-being.
This practice can help us to achieve greater health, vitality, and peace of mind. Whether you are an experienced yogi or a complete beginner, adding alternate nostril breathing to your daily routine can be a simple and effective way to support your overall health and well-being.
NOTE: As with any new exercise or wellness program, it is beneficial to consult with your physician, start slowly, listen to your body, and make modifications as needed to ensure your safety and comfort.
I have been looking into the Polyvagal theory which is a theory developed by Dr. Stephen Porges that explains how the vagus nerve plays a crucial role in regulating the body's autonomic nervous system, which controls unconscious functions such as heart rate, digestion, and breathing. The theory proposes that the vagus nerve has two branches - the sympathetic branch and the parasympathetic branch - which are responsible for activating the body's "fight or flight" response and its "rest and digest" response, respectively.
Polyvagal theory suggests that when people experience stress, trauma, or other negative emotions, their body's autonomic nervous system can become dysregulated, leading to a range of physical and psychological symptoms. The theory proposes that by engaging the parasympathetic branch of the vagus nerve through techniques such as slow breathing, meditation, and social engagement, individuals can regulate their autonomic nervous system and improve their physical and mental health.
In the context of MECFS & long COVID, slow breathing and other techniques that engage the parasympathetic branch of the vagus nerve may help to alleviate symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, and shortness of breath that are associated with dysregulated autonomic function.
It makes a lot of sense and is encouraging me to get better at doing things that help regulate the autonomic nervous system and especially to reduce the sympathetic and activate the parasympathetic.

#MECFS Tips 💖 Try This! Practice the alternate nostril relaxation breathing practice by simply following along.
Alternate Nostril Breathing Instructions Given Below... Meditation has been shown to be an effective tool for reducing stress, anxiety, and post-exertional malaise (PEM) in individuals living with ME/CFS. Regular meditation practice can help to calm the nervous system, reduce inflammation, and promote feelings of relaxation and wellbeing. By cultivating mindfulness, individuals with ME/CFS can learn to better recognize their body's warning signals and respond in ways that prevent overexertion and exacerbation of symptoms. Additionally, meditation can enhance cognitive function, improve sleep quality, and boost immune function, all of which can further support overall health and well-being in those with ME/CFS.
Alternate nostril breathing, is a breathing technique hat promotes relaxation and balance in the body. To start, sit comfortably with your spine straight and your left hand resting on your left knee. Breathe deeply in through both nostrils. As you do bring your right hand up to your nose and block off your right nostril. Exhale deeply through your left nostril, then breathe deeply in through both nostrils again. And as you do bring your left hand up to your nose and block off your left nostril. Exhale deeply through your right nostril. Repeat this pattern for as long as you like, focusing on deep, slow breaths. Alternate nostril breathing can benefit people with ME/CFS or long COVID by reducing stress and anxiety, increasing oxygenation, improving mental clarity, boosting immunity, and balancing the nervous system. However, it is always suggested to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new breathing techniques or exercise programs.
💖 Full Moon Meditation | Creating a Synchronized Global Community of Prayer, Love and Meditation. 🙏Hello Everyone! As a Global Community on each New Moon let's create strong waves of the vibrational intentionality of Loving-kindness & compassion by praying & meditating together globally.
The new moon is when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun and will not be visible from most of the Earth.
For whoever's interested, let's create a synchronized global community of prayer and/or meditation for co-creating the vibrations of love & Compassion that will emanate outward from this day onwards & forever.
The more vibrations of Loving-kindness and compassion that we can consciously and collectively generate the more loving-kindness and compassion that is permanently available in our universe for others to feel, enjoy, and be nurtured by. Join us in creating together a living, vibrating, pulsing, web of love and compassion and inspiration around the planet.
Thank you for participating with us in whatever way works best for you.
It's all good.
For people from around the world who want to participate at the same time, how about 7:00 a.m., Noon, & 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (GMT/UTC minus 5 hours) on the new moon.
We can also create both Prayer and/or meditation waves travelling around the planet by whoever wants to pray and/or meditate at 7 a.m., noon & 7:00 p.m. in your local time zone. (Or whenever and however works best for you.)
Do one five minute meditation or several. If a 20 minute session works better for you great. Whatever works best for you benefits all of us. You know what works best for you so find your way - a way you can get excited about and be passionate about.
We welcome all forms and expressions of loving, kindness, and compassion. Be creative. Have fun.
Lets fill the Earth and the Earths atmospheres with vibrations, quarks, particles, molecules, wavelengths and songs and poems and haikus and whatever else is of love and compassion for all that lives.
Loving-kindness and compassion are universal qualities that are in no way owned by any person or group. Anyone and everyone, regardless of nationality, race, religion, etc. is free to practice and nurture loving-kindness and compassion whenever and wherever desired.
The more loving-kindness and compassion we can actually generate in ourselves, in our lives, and in each other, the more benefit for everyone. How cool is that?
Intentionally practicing heart qualities like loving-kindness & Compassion, raises our spiritual vibration to a higher level of who we truly are. This increases our sense of Loving-kindness and compassion in the world which creates within us clearer positive choices while also giving us easier access to our heart’s intuitive guidance aligned with loving-kindness and compassion for ourselves, each other, the earth, all sentient beings & all that lives throughout time and space.
Any and all participation is welcome. Whether you plan to join us for 5 minutes or more, or in local time or synchronized time, during your lunch break, whenever and however works best for you.

💖 The #1 Absolutely Best, Most Helpful Book, I Have Ever Found For Living Well with #MECFS
Greetings Everyone.... This video is about one of the absolutely best, most helpful books, I have ever found, about living with ME/CFS. I personally, highly recommend this book to anyone experiencing ME/CFS, Long Covid or chronic illness of any kind. You can usually find a used copy on Amazon. 👉 https://amzn.to/40bj14M
Toni Bernhard's "How to Be Sick" is a powerful and insightful book that offers a unique perspective on the challenges faced by those suffering from chronic illnesses such as ME/CFS, Long Covid, and other similar conditions. The book is written with great empathy, warmth, and practicality, providing readers with a wealth of information, insights, and practical tools to help them manage their condition and live a more fulfilling life.
One of the most compelling aspects of this book is the author's own experience of living with chronic illness. Toni Bernhard was a law professor when she became ill with a viral infection that left her bedridden and in constant pain. This experience gave her a unique perspective on what it's like to live with a chronic illness, and she shares her insights and wisdom in a way that is both accessible and highly relatable.
The book is divided into three parts, each addressing a different aspect of living with chronic illness. The first part focuses on the emotional and psychological challenges of coping with chronic illness, including the grief, loss, and isolation that can accompany such conditions. The second part offers practical advice on managing symptoms, including pain, fatigue, and brain fog, while the third part offers guidance on how to cultivate a sense of meaning and purpose in life despite illness.
What sets this book apart from other self-help books for chronic illness is the author's emphasis on mindfulness and compassion. Throughout the book, Toni Bernhard stresses the importance of being present in the moment, accepting one's condition with kindness and compassion, and cultivating a sense of gratitude for the small joys in life. She also offers a range of practical mindfulness exercises and meditations that can help readers to cultivate these qualities in themselves.
Overall, "How to Be Sick" is an essential read for anyone living with chronic illness, especially those suffering from ME/CFS, Long Covid, and other similar conditions. The book is not only packed with practical advice and insights, but it also offers a powerful message of hope and resilience that can help readers to find meaning and purpose in their lives despite illness. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to live a more fulfilling life with chronic illness.
Essentially... "How to Be Sick" by Toni Bernhard is a guidebook for people living with chronic illness or chronic pain. Toni, who was diagnosed with the sudden onset of chronic fatigue, shares her personal experiences and provides practical advice for managing physical and emotional challenges associated with chronic illness.
Toni encourages us to accept our condition, practice mindfulness, and cultivate gratitude to improve our quality of life. The book also offers insights into navigating relationships, communicating with healthcare providers, and adapting to a new way of life.
Without a doubt, "How to Be Sick" provides a compassionate and empowering approach to living with chronic illness. It is one of the most helpful and useful books I have ever read on the subject of living with chronic fatigue.
Dear Viewers, If you have found any other books, that you would highly recommend, please share them in the comments section below – it is very possible that others can benefit from your suggestions as well. Thank you!

💖 One of the Most Baffling Aspects of Living with #MECFS is the Unpredictability of its #Symptoms 👀
Welcome to my YouTube channel dedicated to providing valuable resources and information for those suffering from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Chronic Fatigue, and Long Covid. Living with chronic illness can be a challenging and isolating experience, but there are resources available to help individuals manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
At this channel, I am dedicated to featuring a variety of books, blogs, authors, and resources that offer valuable insights and guidance on how to cope with chronic illness. I believe in the power of mindfulness, resilience, and self-compassion to help individuals develop coping strategies and find peace amidst the turmoil of chronic illness.
Some of the resources I'll feature explore mindfulness and meditation practices, which can help individuals cultivate a greater sense of calm and presence, even in the midst of physical discomfort. By learning to pay attention to the present moment, individuals can develop a greater sense of acceptance and equanimity, which can help reduce stress and improve overall well-being.
Other resources focus on the importance of self-compassion and self-care, which can help individuals manage the emotional and psychological aspects of chronic illness. By learning to treat oneself with kindness and understanding, individuals can reduce feelings of shame and self-blame, and instead develop a greater sense of self-worth and resilience.
Finally, some resources explore the importance of community and connection, which can provide a sense of understanding and support for individuals with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Long Covid. Online communities and support groups can provide a safe space for individuals to connect with others who understand what they're going through, share tips and strategies for managing symptoms, and find emotional support and understanding.
I am dedicated to providing valuable resources and information to help individuals Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Chronic Fatigue, and Long Covid manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life. Through this channel, I hope to create a supportive community where individuals can connect with others and find the guidance and resources they need to live a full and meaningful life despite their chronic illness.
Thank you for joining me on this journey towards greater understanding and compassion for those of us living with chronic illness

#MECFS is just plain weird.🙃 Living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is Just Plain Weird.🙃 #ME #CFS
Living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is just plain weird. It's a condition that defies easy explanation, often misunderstood by those who have not experienced it firsthand. It's a complex and debilitating chronic illness that affects every aspect of a person's life, leaving them grappling with symptoms that fluctuate in intensity and impact on a daily basis. From the outside, it may seem like living with ME/CFS is simply about feeling tired, but for those who have it, it's a reality that is so much more nuanced, challenging, and at times, downright strange.
Explore "No Mud, No Lotus." @ https://amzn.to/3EFXrNK Where you will find this and other wonderful books by Thich Nhat Hanh. Chapter One of "No Mud, No Lotus" by Thich Nhat Hanh is a compelling introduction to the transformative power of suffering and its relationship to spiritual growth.

#MECFS Tips: 💖Here are the instructions for the alternate nostril mindfulness breathing practice. | Find Inner Peace.
Here are the instructions for the alternate nostril mindfulness breathing practice:
1. Sit in a comfortable meditation posture with your back straight and eyes closed. Take a few deep breaths to relax and calm your mind.
2. Inhale through both nostrils, raising your right arm to the level of your shoulder with your elbow bent. Use your middle finger to close off your right nostril. Hold your breath for a moment, then exhale deeply through your left nostril while keeping your right nostril blocked. Bring your elbow down in coordination with the exhale, expanding and contracting your rib cage and lung capacity like a bellows.
3. Inhale through both nostrils again, but this time raise your left arm up to the level of your shoulder, with your elbow bent. Use your middle finger to close off your left nostril. Hold your breath for a moment, then exhale deeply through your right nostril while keeping your left nostril blocked. As you exhale, bring your elbow down in coordination with the exhale, expanding and contracting your rib cage and lung capacity like a bellows.
4. Continue deep slow breathing this way, alternating nostrils for as long as you like, maybe three or nine rounds.
5. On the final exhale, lower your arm back to your lap or your side.
6. Take a few moments to observe the effects of the practice on your body and mind.
7. If you like, continue and do another round of alternate nostril breathing.
Remember to be gentle and mindful without forcing the breath. If you feel uncomfortable at any point, return to your normal breathing pattern and take a break.

💖 Living a Happier Life with #MECFS Chronic Fatigue Syndrome | Read The Spoon Theory👉 ( Link Below )
The Spoon Theory ( https://butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/ ) is a metaphor that explains how people with chronic illnesses manage their energy levels throughout the day. The metaphor goes like this: imagine that you have a limited number of spoons each day, and each spoon represents a unit of energy. Every time you do something, you have to give up a spoon. So, if you wake up in the morning and you have ten spoons, and it takes one spoon to get out of bed, another spoon to take a shower, and another spoon to get dressed, then you only have seven spoons left for the rest of the day.
Medical research has shown that even small amounts of meditation can have significant benefits to a person's wellbeing. For people with ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) or long COVID, alternate nostril breathing may offer several benefits. These conditions can cause fatigue, brain fog, and other symptoms that may affect breathing patterns and oxygenation of the body. Here are some potential benefits of alternate nostril breathing for people with ME/CFS or long COVID:
*Reduces stress and anxiety: Alternate nostril breathing is known to reduce stress and anxiety levels, which can be particularly helpful for people with ME/CFS or long COVID who may experience high levels of stress and anxiety due to their condition.
*Increases oxygenation: By focusing on deep, slow breathing and ensuring both nostrils are used equally, alternate nostril breathing can help increase oxygenation of the body. This can be beneficial for people with ME/CFS or long COVID who may experience shortness of breath or other respiratory symptoms.
*Improves mental clarity: The rhythmic breathing pattern of alternate nostril breathing can help calm the mind and improve mental clarity. This can be particularly helpful for people with ME/CFS or long COVID who may experience brain fog or cognitive difficulties.
*Boosts immunity: Studies have shown that alternate nostril breathing can boost the immune system by increasing the production of immune cells. This can be beneficial for people with ME/CFS or long COVID, who may have weakened immune systems due to their condition.
*Balances the nervous system: Alternate nostril breathing can help balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, which can help regulate the body's response to stress and promote relaxation.
Overall, alternate nostril breathing may be a useful tool for people with ME/CFS or long COVID to manage their symptoms and improve their overall well-being. However, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new breathing techniques or exercise programs, particularly if you have a pre-existing medical condition.
