I could NOT find a satisfactory answer to my question, so I decided to find out for myself. There were a lot of variables to discuss but I hope this helps some of you out there.

Had my fuel pump go out on my VTX1800. Honda says it is non-serviceable. Well, maybe the filter isn't, but the pump and fuel strainer/sock is.

I use inline filters on my motorcycles all the time. BUT, sometimes the fuel will not pass the filter and go to the carb. I set up a lab to find out the best way to 'prime' a fuel line with an inline filter. Let's face it, if you're on the road and need to change the filter mid-ride, you still need to get home.

Made this video to be super quick, following the week long soak of evaporust in my gas rotten gas tank. Is it better than electrolysis? Maybe, maybe not. But it is certainly easier.

Finally fixed my fuel in the air box problem! If you watched the first video you need to watch this one -- I had to correct a couple things. The first half (roughly) of the video is an explanation of how I worked through the problem and what I eventually did. The second part is a look at the carb with detailed info on where the fuel and air circuits are in it. I have a text pop-up telling you which minute/second the second part starts.

In order to do the ground fix, valve adjustments, PAIR removal, etc. you have to remove the tank. But the VTX 1800 doesn't have a petcock. Greeeeaaat.

I got a great deal on a 2003 VTX 1300. Then I figured out why. Fuel leak from the airbox. Here is the first part of this story where I thought I fixed it, but didn't. Part 2 is actual fix. If you have the same problem, hopefully you can solve yours, too!
