2 Things you can do to boost fruit production (+ drone footage)
We revisit old man walking trail to look at cherries, almonds, raspberries and paw paws. Plus I pulled out the drone to splice in some sexy B roll footage of our food forest. There's no better art than nature.
We leave on 2 tips to boost your fruit production. Make sure you are doing these 2 things.

Suburban Permaculture consultation followup - 3 years later - "Tom"'s Place
Today we re-visit a suburban consultation, Tom's place. Everyone LOVED his 1 year followup (almost exactly 2 years ago), which you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzxyWem3WYs. "Tom" shot this one himself, and he's quite a character - everyone fell in love with him.
2 years later, we head back to his place to see how it's growing. And IT'S GROWING!
"Tom" wanted to grow as much food as we could fit into his 15' x 48' suburban backyard. We crammed 16+ trees, tons of bushes, and plenty of pollinator and predator attracting plants.
A dense planting like this is ideal to get a healthy food system established. However, it will get simplified as the trees get larger, canopies close, and paradise grows. For now, our goal is to shade the soil, crowd out wannabe weeds, and bring in the insects, all while returning some serious investment in terms of healthy food.
What was previously just a blank patch of grass, doing nothing, is now feeding his 2 young kids, and teaching them where their food grows. If only we could all have a childhood like this.
I hope you enjoy,
Keith.

New Bat box, permaculture and gardening discussion and some chicken TV
This video is going to just go up un-edited because I have a whole bunch of videos to upload, and very little time to get things done with work being so busy. I hope everyone enjoys a little bit of a video that's a bit rougher around the edges. I hadn't shown the chickens for a while, and people love the girls, plus I put up another bat box.
I then took about a 20 min walkaround the pond and thought a fun video would be a "How many can you Identify" video... so that one is coming out shortly also. It should be a fun game.

Checking back on some Guerrilla Gardening plantings (that I totally didn't do)
Come with me while I check up on some guerrilla gardening plantings that I, er, um, know that someone else did.
Please be cautious doing this, as it's illegal, so you totally shouldn't do it. You shouldn't do it all over your town. You shouldn't do it in your parks, or your libraries. Avoid doing this in your office building landscaping, or in your town's schoolyards. Definitely never do it by traintracks, or at hospitals, fire stations, walmarts, or gas stations. Avoid doing it along roadways, and car pool parking lots. Arenas and community centers are right out.
See my previous videos on hazards to look out for when (not) doing this: No land? No problem: https://youtu.be/oiIJkzahH1k.

Urban Permaculture - a consultation followup 3 years later.
Today we visit a permaculture design from 3 years ago, and see how it's coming along.
I find that often in these design projects, a major goal is what I call "HOA Subterfuge". I.e. putting aesthetics at the forefront of a design. Just because permaculture CAN look wild, doesn't mean that it has to look disorganized. Often, your neighbours don't so much hate "wild look" as much as they just don't want a place to look like neglect. Often, "contained wild" is what you want to go for, as that will be accepted.
Many of my videos are from my own food forest. I live on 4 acres just outside of the suburbs. Often I will get comments from people in more urban/suburban settings about what they can do. I hope today's video gives a glimpse into that, and maybe gives people some ideas on things they can incorporate into their own designs.
Although the neighbourhood here is very Urban, the size of the lot is arguably more suburban. A big thing about living in Suburban areas is how to do the permaculture thing without "upsetting" people who see "normal" as grass and boxwoods.
I hope you enjoy.

Save the Fireflies! - Conservation
A big shoutout to the Firefly conservation project over at https://www.firefly.org. I stumbled upon this project while researching conservation efforts on my land, and low-and-behold, I'm already doing a bunch of it. It turns out, what's good for one insect is good for many. "If you build it, they will come".
Want to help out firefly research? You can help the conservation scientists and submit a sighting here: https://www.firefly.org/firefly-sightings.html. This will help scientists track where they are, what species you found, and give them insights to their numbers, range, spread, and more.
All the best, have a great summer in your gardens!
