More than 2,000 cruise and ballistic Russian missiles downed over Ukraine
Ukraine's Armed Forces shot down more than 2,000 cruise and ballistic Russian missiles since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Defense Ministry reported.
Another two ballistic missiles, launched from occupied Crimea, were shot down over Kyiv on March 25 following multiple explosions, according to the Air Force. Debris fell in the Solomianskyi and Pechersk districts, damaging a three-story building in the latter.
At least two people have been reportedly injured, and eight others suffered from shock. The rescue operation is ongoing.
Moscow has launched over 8,000 missiles and more than 4,600 drones against Ukraine as of Feb. 22 since its all-out war, said Yurii Ihnat, a former spokesperson for Ukraine's Air Force.
"That's a result of the titanic work of Ukrainian air defenders. Thousands of lives were saved by modern air defense systems provided by our partners," the ministry wrote on X, reporting on the destroyed targets.
Over the past week, Moscow launched several large-scale attacks on Ukraine's cities, including energy infrastructure. Around 190 missiles, 140 Shahed-type drones, and 700 aerial bombs were used, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. Local authorities reported multiple injured and killed civilians.
Ukrainian officials urged Western allies to provide Kyiv with more weapons, including air defense systems and missiles, to protect Ukrainian cities from regular strikes.
Russia has launched its third wave of missile strikes against Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, in five days, as part of its escalating aerial bombardment of the city. The injuries and damage appear to have been the result of falling missile debris as the Ukrainian air force said it had shot down two missiles over the city.
Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, renewed his appeal to western partners to provide more weaponry to protect against the unrelenting aerial attacks.
“We never tire of repeating that Ukraine needs more air defence,” he said. “This is security for our cities and saves human lives.”

German historians wrote a letter to Scholz about mistakes in relations with Putin
German historians wrote a letter to Chancellor Olaf Scholz about mistakes in relations with Putin. Bild tabloid got the collective appeal.
It was signed by scientists who, like Olaf Scholz himself, are members of the Social Democratic Party of Germany. Heinrich August Winkler, Martina Winkler, Dirk Schumann, Gabriele Lingelbach and Jan K. Behrends are among them. Their main theses are:
"We are watching with growing concern the positioning of the Social Democratic Party regarding Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine," historians write. “Arguments and justifications are increasingly arbitrary, erratic and often factually incorrect.”
"Coordination with allies is insufficient in Germany, Putin will regard this only as a call to action."
Scientists consider it "useless" to explain "what Germany definitely will not do regarding supporting Ukraine."
"When the Chancellor and party leaders draw red lines not for Russia, but only for German politics, they significantly weaken German security policy and play into Russia's hands."
Historians believe that the Social Democratic Party is prone to "extremely dangerous denial of reality." Putin will end the war only “if he is confronted with sufficient force.”
The Social Democratic Party has not yet understood this, the authors believe.
"Inside the Social Democratic Party, there is no honest analysis of the mistakes of Russian policy in recent decades," they write, pointing to the lack of investigation of "the links of various comrades with Russian interests and erroneous energy policy," which led Germany "to fatal dependence on Moscow."
Recall after stalling for months, Scholz rejected Ukraine’s request for Germany’s long-range Taurus missile system. The decision reflects Scholz’s political sensitivities and an overarching German concern about escalating the conflict with Russia.

France to supply 78 Caesar self-propelled howitzers and 80,000 rounds of ammunition to Ukraine
French Defence Minister Sébastien Lecornu has announced that Paris will soon be able to supply Kyiv with 78 Caesar self-propelled howitzers and will increase supplies of shells to meet Ukraine's urgent ammunition needs.
At a press conference, Lecornu said that France, Ukraine and Denmark had reached an agreement to finance the delivery of Caesar 155mm self-propelled howitzers, which would allow Paris to "deliver them quickly".
He added that France also aimed to supply Ukraine with 80,000 rounds of ammunition for 155mm guns this year, compared to the 30,000 it has provided since the start of the full-scale invasion.
In addition, Lecornu noted that France was involved in the search for existing stocks of gunpowder and ammunition that could be purchased from countries outside the EU as part of Czechia's initiative.
Under the plan, the Czechs seek to obtain 800,000 artillery shells for Ukraine. Czech leaders previously said the first shells should be delivered to Ukraine no later than June. At least 18 countries have joined the initiative, according to officials in Prague.
At the same time, Lecornu said that European countries should reduce their dependence on the United States to ensure security on the continent.
"This is an absolute necessity. I think it's wrong that American taxpayers should pay so much for the security of Europeans," he said.

EU mission in Armenia targeting Russia rather than Azerbaijan
Recently, the Armenian parliament ratified the agreement on the status of the EU mission stationed on the border in Azerbaijan. As is known, the mission was established in January 2023, and in December, the number of mission participants increased from 138 to 209 people, according to Azernews media outlet.
Currently, the US joining this process and planning to send its soldiers to Armenia as part of the EU mission actually means that the West is creating its own military base in Armenia. All these processes take place on the borders of Azerbaijan. So many think that this format is directed against Azerbaijan.
However, member of the Azerbaijani Parliament Fazil Mustafa thinks that this mission links with Russia rather than Azerbaijan. Speaking to Azernews on the issue, Azerbaijani MP noted that Armenia takes these measures because it feels uneasy. He pointed out that Armenia is right in a certain sense from its own point of view. MP underlined that the issue should be approached on the basis of relations with Russia rather than with Azerbaijan. Yerevan emphasized intensive contact with the West.
“However, they probably calculated how dangerous and risky these relationships are. Otherwise, the presence of the EU mission or the US mission in the region can create great cataclysms for Armenia. Because a country that has built such deep relations with Russia suddenly makes a U-turn and approaches to another power center. The protective capabilities of this power center are also not at a high level. Therefore, this issue is still one of the factors that show that Armenia itself is a bit adventurous. This is a dangerous adventure, and it is difficult to say how Armenia will eliminate its consequences,” he said.
Fazil Mustafa pointed out that the fear from his society and takes concrete steps towards peace. “As I mentioned earlier, the increase in the number of military personnel from the West is a matter related to Russia. For Azerbaijan, Armenia is already a country that maintains a military base of a foreign state in its territory. As is known, except for the military base in Gyumri, the borders of Armenia and the airport are guarded by the military of another country, not by Armenia's own military. Now, the arrival of a new foreign power means that there will be a problem between the previous power and the newcomers. Therefore, this is more relevant to the relations between Armenia and Russia,” Fazil Mustafa opined.
The MP pointed out that the creation of the West’s military base in Armenia means a military conflict with Russia.

Kadyrov finds signs of fascism in Russia and declares readiness to fight it
Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, claimed "call for fascist methods" inside Russia after the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow and threatened to have a ”short conversation” with those who propagate them, according to the ISW report.
Russian law enforcement states that the suspects in the attack are citizens of Tajikistan.
Information about the signs of xenophobia in Russia towards non-ethnic Russians started to appear on Russian Telegram channels. For example, it was reported that taxi drivers refused to serve individuals from Tajikistan, or that police raided hostels in search of migrants.
The ISW reports that xenophobic rhetoric was also expressed by deputies of the State Duma. For example, a deputy from the temporarily occupied Crimea, Mikhail Sheremet, proposed to restrict the entry of migrants into Russia during the period of war against Ukraine, alleging that they are used by Western intelligence agencies. The Deputy Chairman of the State Duma and recent presidential candidate Vladislav Davankov proposed implementing a policy of "zero tolerance" for migrants who committed any offenses during their first year in Russia, as well as introducing "digital control" over them and developing a "migrant replacement" program.
ISW says that Kadyrov expressed "concerns about Russian ultranationalist reaction" to the Crocus City Hall attack. He said that the scale of the attack is "much larger and deeper" than the attack itself because "Russia’s enemies" are trying to undermine Russia by promoting nationalism.
Kadyrov stated that ”false patriots” are trying to play on people’s emotions and ”call for fascist methods.”
He threatened to have a ”short conversation” with instigators of ethnic conflict.
The Institute's experts note that Kadyrov has previously been at the center of high-profile interethnic and religious scandals, which has likely hindered his attempts to equivocate between Chechnya's defense of Islamic values and support for the increasingly ultranationalistic Kremlin.

Ukraine announced new landings of Ukrainian military personnel in Crimea
The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, has announced new operations by the Ukrainian military in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
In response to the journalist's question about whether there are any new landings being prepared in Crimea, Budanov replied affirmatively.
"Yes, they are being prepared. And they will happen. Soon it will be warm, so we will continue. Crimea will be returned," emphasized the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence.
Budanov stated that Russian occupiers do not abandon plans to once again seize the Ukrainian Zmiinyi Island, regularly launching missile and bomb attacks. "They regularly carry out missile and bomb strikes. There has been information several times, and we have seen its confirmation, about conducting a similar operation, as we once did," Budanov said.
However, according to him, it is impossible to do so.
"But they couldn't do it because knocking out the garrison from the island is already unrealistic," emphasized the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence.
The Main Directorate of Intelligence fighters conducted several ground operations in the temporarily occupied Crimea. For example, on August 24, 2023, reconnaissance troops managed to carry out a sortie near the settlement of Mayak on the Tarkhankut Cape. A battle took place within the framework of the Main Directorate of Intelligence special operation involving naval assets and aviation.
In turn, Russian sources began to invent their own version of the so-called "Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups", allegedly "destroyed." In reality, at least 30 occupiers were destroyed and four high-speed boats were damaged as part of the special operation.
Furthermore, on October 4, Ukrainian special forces again landed in the occupied Crimea and inflicted a fiery defeat on the Russian occupiers. It is noted that a fierce battle took place as part of this operation, resulting in significant losses among Russian soldiers.

Six people were missing and presumed dead after container ship crashed into bridge in US
Six people were missing and presumed dead, and the search for them was suspended until now after container ship crashed into the landmark Francis Scott Key Bridge near the US city of Baltimore, causing most of it to collapse.
Several vehicles on the bridge at the time plunged into the waters of the River Patapsco. Hours later, the Coast Guard said at least six people were presumed dead.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore has declared a state of emergency and the Port of Baltimore remains closed to ships.
President Joe Biden vowed the federal government will cover "the entire cost" of rebuilding the bridge and reopening the port.
The crash happened in the middle of the night, long before the busy morning commute on the bridge that stretches 2.6 kilometers and was used by 12 million vehicles last year.
The six missing people were part of a construction crew filling potholes on the bridge, said Paul Wiedefeld, the state’s transportation secretary.
Guatemala’s consulate in Maryland said in a statement that two of the missing were citizens of the Central American nation. It did not provide their names but said consular officials were in contact with authorities and assisting the families.

Putin's awkward act showed his weakness - The Economist
After the ISIS terrorist attack in Moscow, which became a colossal failure of the Russian intelligence services and a slap in the face to Putin, the head of the Kremlin cowardly disappeared and reappeared almost a day later with a false statement in which he tried to ridiculously concoct blame for Ukraine. However, such behavior is traditional for the Russian president, writes the British magazine The Economist.
Putin is a man who likes victories; preferably stage-managed ones.
İt is noted that last year, when Yevgeny Prigozhin and his band of mercenaries made their way towards Moscow, Putin was initially nowhere to be seen, the magazine writes.
So if he took a full 19 hours to conjure up a short tv performance to speak about the massive intelligence failure at Crocus City Hall in Moscow, he was falling into a familiar pattern.
The address itself gave little away—and appeared to serve as a hedge. Putin claimed, ludicrously, that Ukraine had opened a border “window” to the terrorists as they tried to escape Russia in their white Renault Symbol. But the Russian president stopped short of directly attributing responsibility to Ukraine for the attack—and said nothing about the Islamic State group that said it had carried it out.
Part of Putin’s reluctance to go all-in on blaming Ukraine might reflect a worry that the American government is sitting on intelligence that could undermine such a claim. Part might be embarrassment at his security agencies’ failure to act on American warnings on March 7th of an imminent attack.
Indeed, just three days before the assault Putin had brushed off that intelligence as “blackmail”.
Such a hubristic blunder would have consequences in a country where power can be held to account. Russia is not such a country. The attack nevertheless represents a blow to the reputation of Putin and the security services on which he depends. The manner of the assault, in which at least 137 people lost their lives, will not soon be forgotten.
There are many questions over the inept security at the glitzy venue, which is in an entertainment park in Moscow’s north-west suburbs. It is unclear why local police failed to respond quickly. A producer of a show held at Crocus City Hall ten days before the attack noted that 200 security guards were present that night.

Ukraine might face “hellish April” - military observer on Russia's missile attacks capabilities
Large-scale missile attacks on Ukrainian territory will continue in the coming month, Denys Popovych, Ukrainian military observer, suggested on Radio NV.
"By now they have a stockpile of missiles," Popovych said.
"They made them, accumulated, when there was no missile strikes for 44 days. Now we are facing the same situation as last year, when there was a big break before May, and then there was a "hellish May". I believe that we will have a hellish April because they stockpiled a lot of missiles."
He added that he would be happy to be wrong, but notes that "Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, and the third time is becomes a system."
On March 24, Russia conducted massive missile strike on Ukraine. Russians attacked Ukrainian cities with 29 cruise missiles and 28 attack UAVs. Air Defense Forces destroyed 43 targets. Also, one of the Russian cruise missiles that attacked Ukraine flew into Poland for 39 seconds.
19 missiles and 7 attack drones striked Lviv Oblast, where they hit infrastructure facility. In the morning, Russia attacked this facility once again with hypersonic missiles. İt is noted that Russian army fired Kinzhal missiles at a critical infrastructure facility in Lviv Oblast.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Last week, Russia used nearly 190 missiles, 140 Shahed drones and 700 guided bomb units against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy stressed that during more than two years of the full-scale war, there has not been a single week in which Russia has refrained from terror.
"And we are doing our best to make sure that the occupation contingent feels our quite fair response to this terror in the same way – every week, every day. I am grateful to all of our heroes who destroy enemy logistics in the occupied territories. Those who clear Crimea and the Black Sea of the occupiers' presence. This is a difficult task, but our warriors are completing it step by step. Everyone sees that," the president said.

Ukraine paralyzed Crimean Bridge - this bridge could be completly destroyed
2.500 loaded tanks with oil products have accumulated on the North Caucasus Railway of the Russian Federation due to restrictions on the passage of dangerous goods through the Crimean Bridge and the need to wait for the approach of ferries and tankers, reports Russian Kommersant media outlet.
This problem was discussed at a meeting of the working group of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation on March 15, it follows from its proceedings, the publication refers to this document.
“Some stand for six months. Market participants propose to use more tankers for transportation to the Crimea, and in the meantime to block the release of additional tanks to the network in this direction," the newspaper writes.
According to her, the downtime in the south emphasizes the general shortage of oil and gasoline tanks in Russia, assessing it in different ways — from hundreds to 45,000 units.
Oil companies propose to temporarily lift the ban on extending the service life of tanks, but railcar builders and Russian Railways oppose this.
Vasyl Maliuk, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine said that Russia no longer uses the Crimean Bridge to supply weapons to the front after Ukrainian strikes damaged the crossing.
The bridge, also called the Kerch Bridge, connects the Russian mainland with the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula, making it a crucial supply route for the Russian military in Ukraine.
Construction on the 19-kilometer-long bridge began after the illegal 2014 annexation and occupation of Crimea, and was completed in 2018.
The bridge was heavily damaged in Ukrainian strikes in October 2022 and July 2023. The plan to strike the bridge was first conceived in March 2022, Maliuk said.
Before the bridge came under attack, "42 to 46 trains carrying weapons and ammunition passed there per day," Maliuk said.
"Today there are four or five in a day," of which four are for passenger traffic, and one is for consumer goods, Maliuk said.
Russian proxy authorities in occupied Crimea regularly shut down traffic on the Crimean Bridge amid reports of explosions and drone strikes.
When the structure is fully restored, Russia will likely use the bridge once again for weapons supplies, Maliuk said, but implied that Ukraine plans to then carry out another attack.
"Everything has its time," Maliuk said.

There is no Black Sea Fleet of Russia anymore, Ukraine hit Russian “Ivan Khurs” ship
During the strike on Sevastopol, the Ukrainian Defence Forces hit two large landing ships of the occupants - Yamal and Azov.
The attack by the Ukrainian Defence Forces caused a nervous reaction among Russian propagandists.
Z -"war correspondent" Yegor Guzenko confirmed the hitting of the Yamal and Azov large landing ships:
"The fact remains, the Black Sea Fleet is no more".
The Russian military correspondent also hinted that another Russian ship, the Ivan Khurs, may have been hit.
This information is also confirmed by sources of the ASTRA Telegram channel, which said that the Ivan Khurs was hit by two missiles at once.
The UK's defense ministry declared Russia's Black Sea Fleet "functionally inactive" after Ukraine claimed to have struck another two of its ships.
UK Defence Minister Grant Shapps wrote that Ukrainian attacks are taking a "massive" toll on the Russian fleet, in a post that appeared to confirm a pair of strikes Ukraine announced on last Sunday.
"Russia has sailed the Black Sea since 1783 but is now forced to constrain its fleet to port," Shapps wrote. "And even there Putin's ships are sinking!".
Earlier, Ukraine announced that it had struck two large landing vessels in the port of Sevastopol, in Crimea. Some sources said the missiles used to hit the Yamal and Azov were likely UK-supplied Storm Shadow cruise missiles.
The Yamal sustained critical damage to part of its upper deck and is taking on water, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence claime.
A communications center and several infrastructure buildings in Sevastopol were also hit, the General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces said. The extent of the damage to the Azov is not immediately clear.
According to The Telegraph, each ship would cost about $215 million to replace with modern equivalents.

18 Palestinians lost their lives due to aid packages dropped from airplanes
At least 12 Palestinians drowned and six others were trampled to death when people rushed to collect air-dropped American aid packages off the northern Gaza coast, local authorities said.
The Pentagon confirmed that three of the 18 packages it air-dropped on Monday had parachute malfunctions and fell into the water just off the coast of the Strip. Abu Mohammad, who witnessed the incident, told CNN the aid was dropped far from the coast into the sea, after which multiple men “who don’t know how to swim drowned” while trying to retrieve it.
Footage of the incident showed people running towards the site of the airdrop as parcels descended upon a beach in Beit Lahia in north Gaza, with some falling onto the shore and others into the sea.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller laments reports that several Palestinians drowned while trying to retrieve air-dropped aid that landed off the coast of northern Gaza.
“It is a tragedy,” Miller says when asked about the reports in a briefing. “It is not just a tragedy that these individuals died trying to get aid. It is a tragedy that they felt so desperate that they had to swim out into the ocean to try and retrieve it in the first place.”
“No one should have to put themselves at risk to try and get food, water and medicine for their families. It should just be there for them, and that is what we’re trying to accomplish through the work that we’re doing to provide humanitarian assistance and in our engagements with the government of Israel to facilitate the delivery of additional humanitarian assistance,” the State Department spokesman says.
Aid agencies say only about a fifth of required supplies are entering Gaza as Israel persists with an air and ground offensive, triggered by Hamas' October 7 attack, that has shattered the enclave, pushing parts of it into famine already.
They say deliveries by air or sea directly onto Hamas-run Gaza's beaches are no substitute for increased supplies coming in by land via Israel or Egypt.

British Defense Minister ridicules Russia: It hides ships in ports, but they sink even there
Russia continues its large-scale military aggression against Ukraine and suffers significant losses, in particular, the Black Sea Fleet has lost its functional activity, states UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps.
This is how the British official reacted to defeat of two Russian large landing ships Yamal and Azov by the Ukrainian Defense Forces in occupied Crimea.
"Putin's continued illegal occupation of Ukraine is exacting a massive cost on Russia's Black Sea Fleet which is now functionally inactive," the British Defense Secretary said in a statement.
He noted that the Russian fleet has been sailing the Black Sea since 1783, but "now it is forced to constrain its fleet to a port."
"And even there Putin's ships are sinking!" Shapps concluded.
On March 24, the Strategic Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Defense Forces had struck at Russian occupiers' facilities in Sevastopol. Two Russian landing ships and a communications center were destroyed.
Thus, the Ukrainian military attacked the large landing ships Yamal and Azov. They also hit the communications center of the Russian occupation forces and several infrastructure facilities of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol.
There were explosions in the occupied Crimea, particularly in Sevastopol. The network wrote about the alleged work of air defense, and the occupiers blocked the Crimean bridge. According to residents, a fire broke out in the Kozacha Bay in Sevastopol.
OSINT analysts also noted that a large communication hub of the Russian Black Sea Fleet could have been hit in Sevastopol.
On the night of March 5, a special unit of the Defense Intelligence Group 13 near the Kerch Strait attacked the Black Sea Fleet patrol ship Sergei Kotov. As a result of the attack by Magura V5 maritime drones, the ship was eliminated. This is the third Russian Black Sea Fleet vessel to sink in the last five weeks.
Following a series of significant losses of Russian ships in the Black Sea, on March 10, Russian Navy Chief Admiral Nikolai Evmenov was dismissed and replaced by Northern Fleet Commander Admiral Alexander Moiseev.
In February, Admiral Viktor Sokolov, the commander of the Black Sea Fleet, was dismissed due to losses.

Ukraine successfully shot down Russian landing ships in Crimea, Storm Shadows are at work again
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have successfully hit large landing ships Yamal and Azov, a communications center, and several infrastructure facilities of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Pavlo Narozhny, founder of the charity organization Reactive Post and military expert, told Radio NV.
"Most likely, it was a cruise missile strike or a Storm Shadow or, for example, a modified Neptune, which is also a possible option. In any case, this is a very powerful strike," Narozhny said.
He believes it was a successful attack on Russian logistics:
"Russia has quite a few large landing ships, because this is probably the sixth ship hit. If they are not damaged but destroyed, it is also a very powerful blow to logistics. Because these ships can transport either a battalion or armored vehicles. But usually, Russia employs them to transport shells, Shaheds, and ammunition; these ships are mostly used for ammunition. This is a very powerful blow to Russian logistics", he added.
An oil depot located near the airfield was hit, which means that fuel for warplanes was most likely burned, the expert adds.
Russia suffered losses in personnel, as propagandists write that up to 50 soldiers were killed, 30 of them officers, said Narozhny, citing Russian “milbloggers”.
Three aircraft were also damaged at this airfield, the military expert said with reference to Russian war correspondents.
Late in the evening of March 23, there were reports of the arrival of cruise missiles at the main communications center of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in occupied Sevastopol. Osint reports on X. “It looks like at least three Ukrainian Storm Shadow cruise missiles have just crashed into the main communications centre of the Russian Black Sea Fleet,” a blogger said. "As we are informed, the missiles struck in the main special communications center of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation on, 1 Nikolai Muzyka Str.," the Crimean Wind Telegram channel confirmed the information.

Ukrainian Army hit Russian landing ship Konstantin Olshansky with Neptune missile
The Ukrainian Armed Forces hit the large landing ship "Konstantin OlshaUkrainian Armed Forces hit the large landing ship "Konstantin Olshansky" with a Neptune missile.
Ukrainian navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk said this.
"Currently, this ship is not combat-capable," Pletenchuk said on national television.
He added that a Ukrainian-made Neptune anti-ship missile was used for this.
Ukraine, which still controls several hundred kilometres of Black Sea coastline despite Russian occupation of some of its southern regions, does not have any large warships.
However, it has conducted a series of successful strikes on Russia's Black Sea fleet in recent months using missiles or seaborne drones.
There was no immediate comment from Russia.
