Michigan Prospectors

I was just practicing with my Garret gold panning set when I found gold at the lake at our cabin in Northern Lower Michigan. You can buy the Garrett gold panning set here: https://amzn.to/3CAzm8A I did not expect to find gold here because it is a quiet, peaceful lake. But, just a few inches below the surface, there is a rock layer. In that rock layer is fine flour gold. I am finding at least one flake of gold per pan here in this little hole. I figure that glaciers deposited the gold here long ago and, since the lake is quiet, not much action has occurred in the years to cause the gold and rocky layer to settle any lower than it is right now. This was my first gold panning attempt ever. I was digging a hole out back in the sand and decided to try panning for gold. I really did not expect to find anything but, to my surprise, I found gold. There is about one flake or more of fine flour gold in every pan. This was so exciting that I got the gold fever.
