Top of the Pops-27th of April 1978.
SAhown tomorrow originally in 1978.Long edition so probably some repeat performances from previous ones. Most songs are very good like Raydio,The Bee Gees and Buzzcocks.Hosted by Jimmy Savile it must be said but good stuff overall.

Top of the Pops-27th of December 1974.
The second festive look back at biggest hits of the year.Still think it was the worst year of the 70's for British chart music, but still some good songs on display here.Hosted by Noel Edmunds and Dave Lee Travis.

Top of the Pops-2nd of September 1982.
Like previous September 82 one I did this is a celebration edition also.60 years of the BBC it seems,a live edition hosted by Jimmy Savile just.Pity there aren't some other presenters there but hey.Vast majority of the songs are good or excellent even.

The festive editions seem to do well here. This one is hosted by Jimmy Savile,he didn't host either of the 79 look backs at that year.So they probably gave him the last usual length one of the year as compensation. Some very good tracks on here anyway.

Top of the Pops-25th of September 1980.
The 18th September 80 is a pretty lousy episode. Some strike action so no audience and all clips are repeats from recent ones then. This one is hoste by Mike Read and Russ Abbot. This was the last episode with the trial idea of guest hosts. Some top tunes as usual.

The second festive look at the biggest hits of that year.Hosted by Tony Blackburn and Dave Lee Travis. And again as long as its not Jimmy Savile Tony gets on with everyone else he hosts with. Some very good singles featured here.Hope you enjoy.

Top of the Pops-26th of December 1976.
The second festive edition come hot on the heels of the first that year.Shown just the day after, most of the better music was on first.Still some decent stuff here like Real Thing,Sailor and Four Seasons among others.Hosted by Savile and Blackburn,so no real sense of enjoyment between them.

Top of the Pops-Christmas Day 1976.
This edition hosted by Noel Edmunds and Dave Lee Travis. They got on anyway so much more camaderie between them than between Blackburn and Savile in the 74 edition.Plenty of good songs on show here also.Something for everyone.

Top of the Pops-Christmas Day 1974.
Time for some festive editions, looking back at biggest hits of particular years. This one is hosted by Tony Blackburn and Jimmy Savile.Even then they didn't get on that well.So not as much genuine fun going on as if he was hosting with Noel Edmunds say.Not a great year for chart toppers but some good songs here.

Jimmy Savile hosts this edition but new boy Richard Skinner hosts this edition too which helps. As usual some very good music makes it a decent edition.

Top of the Pops-4th of September 1980.
Dave Lee Travis hosts this edition with Kevin Keegan. For about 2 months then the show had guest hosts along with established hosts.Kevin fares better than some. Some top music on this one, should be something for everyone.

Top of the Pops-24th of September 1981.
One of my least favourite hosts of this era presents this one,Simon Bates. He's not funny or anything,he just stands there like an idiot and points left or right where the group is.Still some good songs and performances here to make up for the host.

Okay yeah it's Steve Wright hosting. He says ok yeah a lot.Does a pretty good job, some repeat performaces from the 3rd of September edition.Still enough original material though to make it worth watching.

Now then, now then yes Jimmy Savile hosts this one.Maybe as there are some 60's acts on it though he's more enthuastic about the music.Than was usual by early 80's.Some very good stuff on it anyway.

Top of the Pops-27th of August 1981.
Last edition of that Summer hosted by the reliable and likeable Richard Skinner.Medleys were big news that year sadly in the charts, but they are enough proper songs here to make it worth watching.

Top of the Pops-3rd September 1981.
Hosted by Peter Powell, who was a presenter who really revelled in the party atmosphere the show had started in 1980.Under a new Producer who took over late that year.Lots of good music in this one.You should find something to your liking.

Pop Quiz-S1 E4.
This popular music show was hosted by Mike Read.It ran for several series from 1981 to 1984.This edition won't be repeated as Jonathan King is one of the Team Captains.A standard edition otherwise.Rules of the game pretty easy to follow.Hope you enjoy it.

Dave Lee Travis hosts this edition. And though he's dressed stupidly he isn't too silly introducing acts. Some very good tracks as usual for this era.

Simon Bates hosts this sadly as he's like a Teacher trying to act cool with his pupils doing it.Anyway some decent music as usual to make it very good.

Top of the Pops-6th of August 1981.
The Yellow Pearl theme and titles had just been introduced the previous month.Jimmy Savile hosts this, just in case some don't want to watch due to that.Fair bit of decent music like Human League on it to help things along.A few too many medley hits but hey it was the year of medley hits.

The new theme called Yellow Pearl has just been introduced at this stage to the series. With the new title sequence,Peter Powell hosts this one.And he was a very good presenter by this stage, very enthuastic about all the acts.

This edition hosted by DLT and Gary Davies, who was still a pretty new host then.Lots of very good music in this one like Kim Wilde with Love Blonde and Tracie with Give Me Some Emotion.

Top of the Pops-7th of December 1978.
December 78 was an odd time for TOTPs,there was strikes going on at TV Centre,so editions were sporadic. There was this one,one on the 14th and then the 25th December. While usually there would have been one on the 21st and a second festive look at hits. Also the 25th December had no audience, just Noel Edmunds on his own trying his best in a office. So just this one and the 14th stand as typical editions that month really.

Top of the Pops-28th of July 1983.
You can't go far wrong with a 1983 edition, there are always a few great tracks on each episode. And this one is no different, hosted by Mike Read and Janice Long.Janice had only started hosting the end of 1982 but was a decent host by this stage. And Mike had hosted from 1978 so was very experienced doing it.

The second festive look back at the biggest hits of the year. This centres more on stuff that made 2 or 3,so maybe better than the Xmas Day one that year.Jimmy Savile hosts but 3 new DJs share hosting duties Gary Davies,Janice Long and Pat Sharp.
