1954 Lotus 6 (Pre Caterham 7) Owner Interview
Originally released on Oscar's Garage, (@oscarsgarage447) Trevor chats with Owner Charles for a chat at the SWCCC Hanley Farm August 2023 meeting.
This 1954 Lotus 6 has been in the hands of the current owner since 1971 (52 years!). Supplied as a kit just 6 years after Lotus started in business, this forerunner to the legendary (now Caterham) 7 was purchased for just £25 as had suffered accident damage. Repaired by th current owner, it oozes patina from years of enjoyment, just as it should.

Turismo UKs Al - the man that makes your modified car dreams happen.
At the 2023 Newark Kit Car Festival we sat down with Al from Turismo UK who has been modifying cars since before the infamous Max Power era. He says he has never turned down a customers request for modification, regardless of how wild!
Their current regular offering is body conversions on the Toyota MR2, Porsche Boxster and Porsche 996, but this is only the start as Turismo can create whatever automotive dream you have.

Learn about Cyclekarts - putting the fun back into motor racing
Cyclekarts are relatively new in the UK, but have a big following global following, particularly in the USA.
They are scaled down racers, using around 200cc engines, based on designs of cars from the 1920s. Generally apart from the engine, wheels and some running gear, the rest is home built, so really is a 'kit' car. They usually take inspiration from a particular race car for the bodywork styling.
Races are held across the UK on both grass and tarmac, and includes a visit to the legendary Brooklands circuit. But the focus is on enjoyment, not necessarily winning.
Trevor caught up with a number of owners at the Newark Kit Car Festival where they were demonstrating their cars on a small circuit.

Meet Jack Wood - new owner of Complete Kit Car Magazine
After the surprise news that long time owner Adam Wilkins had sold Complete Kit Car magazine (CKC) we had a great chat with him last week to find out more. Now we have the chance to have a chat with Jack Wood who has taken over from Adam. We discover he was his car enthusiasm was triggered as a child playing Gran Turismo, his engineering background and how arriving in his Midas to his CKC interview didn't go quite to plan!
He also updates us on the future of the magazine, and its very much a case of evolution not revolution.
Catch Adam's interview here - https://youtu.be/Nh0HY7BNuik
Complete Kit Car Magazine - SOLD! Under new management, but it's in safe hands
Complete Kit Car (CKC) magazine has been around since the 1980s when Peter Filby started it as Which Kit, until it was renamed in 2007. Adam Wilkins has worked on the magazine since 2000 and owned it since 2016, but on 1st September 2023 we got the news that he had sold CKC to long term employee Jack Wood, but Adam is still going to be contributing to the magazine as a writer.
In this video we talk to Adam about his time at CKC along with important updates on his other magazines Absolute Lotus and Alternative Cars, hear a little about Jack, and also hear some of the funnier stories from his time at the magazine.

HWM Stovebolt Story: 1 year update
Ed Leach is a creative genius!
Recently, he imagined, then built a Lister Knobbly replica and now has set about to build an homage to an HWM Stovebolt Special.
This build is not a "Replica".
Ed used a movie, The Racers, featuring an HWM Stovebolt and starring Kirk Douglas, as an inspiration to capture the essence of the car.
Just about everything on Ed's car is the product of his fertile imagination and creative flair.
For example, to satisfy the facility of registration purposes, the car is being built on the chassis of a Triumph Spitfire, although that's about all of the TR DNA that you will find.
It is truly "Special" in every sense of the word.
In this episode of the build, you will capture a glimpse of an extraordinarily beautiful car and see just a few of the many innovative developments being built into Ed Leach's Stovebolt Special.

Quantum Cars Chat - evolving the Replicar into the LMR141
The Quantum range was a big part of the kit car industry in the 1990s, but once the original owners sold the business on the various cars were split up and their momentum lost.
Rob Hancock of Quantum is turning that tide as he has managed to bring together all the Quantum cars under his wing, and then has added the well respected Replicar to his range. But despite the Replicar being ready to sell Rob was convinced it could be improved and has created a new body mould and renamed it the LMR141.
Rob is someone who rarely stops working but Trevor managed to pin him down for a chat at the Newark Kit Car Festival.

GTM Coupe: the Mid-Engined Mini GT Racer you've never heard of!
Have you ever thought about building a mid-engined sports and racing car on a shoestring budget?
That’s what Bernard Cox had in mind back in 1967.
He built the original GTM Coupe and the concept generated a lot of interest in the Kit Car and Racing world.
Although Bernard built the first GTM Cox model, he wearied of the project and passed the legacy on to his test driver, Howard Heerey.
Since that first pass of the baton, the GTM Coupe has been developed under several different owners and has led to a variety GTM models.
Unfortunately, the Coupe was lost to production as the new models were introduced but the Hambly Coupe is now living in that “Back to the Future” scene in the evolution of the GTM Story.
Stay with us as Trevor Rolfe and Derek Hambly share the compelling and “ever-lasting” history of GTM.
We thank Derek Hambly for sharing time with us to explain the winding path of GTM development and corporate ownership.
Our work documents the history of the GTM Coupe specifically, other GTM models, the Hambly Coupe and honours the enthusiasm of GTM owners everywhere.

The José Windle Channel Trailer
Hi everyone! Hope all of you are well! I've finally done a trailer for the channel, hope you'll appreciate the new look and hopefully this will mark the beginnings for many more videos and adventures!
the Stan Brown "Lotus" ... aka SLOTUS
The Slotus has been raced in the Woodall family for 3 generations in Australia.
The car was a creation of an ex-Lotus employee, Stan Brown, who moved to Australia in the mid 50's carrying with him hand-drawn Chapman plans and a few sheets of anodized aluminium.
Fabulous car and a fabulous story told by a fabulous bloke!

Recorded at the Newark Kit Car Festival 2023, Stuart generously sat down with Trevor to talk through how he got into manufacturing kits, the design process and where he got inspiration for cars and how he came across the MX5 as a donor.

It's Never Easy!
There are a thousand stories in Troy's Shed and every one of them is pure magic but (truth be told) ... "it's never easy!"
Every week, a Clubman (or something nice, light and tasty) arrives, then Troy evaluates the work, has a chat with the owner about what he wants to do and then ... he gets right at it.
This week the Troy Shed features a "Refresh" on a PRB Clubman.
(Ha, ha, ha, ... did I say "Refresh" ... check it out ... looks more like alchemy).
Just the Facts, ... this PRB:
. a battle worn veteran of "The Track"
. parked and has not started in 10 years
How to devalue your Ford Capri - The DMS Bullitt story
Panel kits are now an integral part of the kit car industry, but in the 1980s they were pretty rare. The Ford Capri based DMS Bullitt had clear inspiration from the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Volante, but at a fraction of the price and Ford running costs. However time has not been kind to the Bullitt. The value of it's base car have risen exponentially in the last few years, and now Bullitt's are a fraction of the value of Ford Capri's.
