Aldbrough In the Norse language Aldbrough means "Old Burh" or fortified stronghold. Later The St John suffix was added to the name in the 1930s by the Post Office to avoid confusion with the Aldborough near Boroughbridge. It's located in Richmondshire, North Yorkshire. At one time Aldbrough St John had a "small castle". We know this from John Leland's account in 1540 that "There appere great ruines of a howse or litle castel at Albruch village, and thereby rennith a bekke. It standith a 2 mile south from Perse Bridg on Tese". Perse Bridg is now called Piercebridge 2 miles north of Aldbrough referred to above as Albruch. Saint Wilfrid's parish was revived by York Catholics in 1742 when they established their Mission in Little Blake Street. In Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, North East England you will find an impressive Gothic edifice, Hylton Castle. And naturally as you'd expect from any ruined castle worth its salt, it has a famous ghost, the Cauld Lad of Hylton. Part of the supply for the Roman Frontier, on Hadrians Wall , on the English border now. It Guarded the entrance to the river Tyne. Standing above the entrance to the River Tyne, Arbeia South Shields' Roman Fort guarded the main sea route to Hadrian's Wall. It was a key garrison and military supply base to other forts along the Wall and is an important part of the history of Roman Britain. Through the course of history Arbeia has had several guises: from the Roman Emperor's HQ for the Scottish invasion to a busy cosmopolitan port. It has hosted dramatic tales of murder, fire, and holds the key to ancient love stories. It was a huge supply base for the Roman army, home to 600 Roman troops and is said to be the birth place of the Northumbrian King Oswin It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site with the finest full-scale Roman reconstructions in the country showcasing some of the most significant finds from that time.

I went back to Dawdon Blast Beach during a cold snap, where it had been subzero for days and a few inches of snow. check out the difference compared to my earlier video in June (The strangest beach you will ever see! Dawdon Blast 🇬🇧) See manmade archeology lines, of victoring dumping, coal mining waste & probably the dumping of the coalmine itself. I did find a Victorian womans show but due to the cold, my batteries drained super quickly (I went through 4!) Enjoy frozen waterfalls, bubbles under the Ice, and a World war 2 bunker. Thrill as I try to walk down iced up steps! 😂 And Remember, this is where the external shots for Alien 3 were filmed!

High Force is England’s biggest waterfall, spectacularly drops 70 feet (21m) into a plunge pool below. From its rise as a trickle, high on the heather covered fells at the top of the North Pennines, to the top of the whin sill rock at Forest -in-Teesdale, the River Tees steadily grows and gathers pace. There are several ways to visit High Force. A walk on the Pennine Way along the River Tees from Bowlees to the top of the falls, with the return along the same route. A 5 mile circular walk from Bowlees Visitor Centre or High Force car park. A longer circular walk from Middleton in Teesdale. A short walk to the bottom of the falls from the High Force Hotel (fee payable). Dating from 675 AD. It is the oldest Church in Hartlepool and is steeped with history. St. Mary Magdalene Church has been a place of prayer and worship for hundreds of years, with its roots dating back to the Saxon Era. The earliest evidence of a church on the site where St. Mary Magdalene’s stands today dates to 675AD; this church would have been wooden, later being replaced by a stone building with a chancel and aisle-less nave. During the Norman Era (11th-12th century) St. Mary Magdalene Church was held in the estates of the de Brus family and at this time it underwent major building work. In 1120 Robert de Brus gave the Church, along with other land, as a gift to the newly founded priory in Guisborough. The Church became the possession of the Crown in the 16th C when religious foundations were forcefully taken during the dissolution of the Monasteries. The patronage of the Church was passed on to the Bishop of Durham in 1888, and restoration work in the late 19th century and then again in the 1970s and 80s followed to preserve this beautiful and historic spiritual home for us and future generations in years to come. https://www.hartchurch.org.uk/

June 2023 I went to Corbridge outside Newcastle Upon Tyne to check out some Roman Ruins in the area. theres a lot as it was the Roman Frontier, with Hadrians wall.I found this strange building work in a field, so I trecked through, but couldnt get closer due to the cows, who looked like they would trample you as they were Beef cows, and see me as a food source (feeding, not eating me haha). Wwhat do you think they are? are they old? they look pretty new and in good shape but have grassed over. Then I went to the Roman site of Corbridge, with evidence of both Roman Concrete & the metal clamps used in South America to hold large stones in place. I have never seen this used in roman construction before. Is it used normally? I havent been able to find any evidence of this. What do you think? please comment below.

The Film Atonement with James McAvoy, Keira Knightley and directed by Joe Wright. The Dunkirk scene was filmed in the North Yorkshire seaside town of Redcar. Changing The Coatham Hotel and Regent cinema into France. All shot facing North to hide the modern day seafront. on the Horizon, the Redcar steelworks was on the horizon. Using Computer graphics, this was masked in smoke and other generated items. (Im not sure if the ferris wheel was real or CGI, im guessing the latter). It's probably the scene the film is most remembered for , shot in a 5 minute single take tracking shot. For years many of the markings on the buildings to make it look like France were left, and there is a monument to the film on the sea front. the film had a red carpet premier in the Regent Cinema, the night before general release. sadly the cinema, while still there was demolished and rebuilt in 2021, it had struggled against the lack of visitors in the 70s - 90s and repairs to the ageing cinema, battered by the weather and north sea but what a send off it got. The film also starred Romola Garai, Saoirse Ronan, Vanessa Redgrave & Benedict Cumberbatch. Fabrica hill (Fabrika Hill,Λόφος Φάμπρικα,Холм Фабрика,Fabrica-Hügel,גבעתפבריקה) Is a live archaeological site in near the Kings Avenue Mall in Paphos, Cyprus. Berwick Castle and Lord’s Mount From Meg’s Mount the riverside path leads to the site of Berwick Castle. First recorded in 1160, it was completely rebuilt by Edward I with a strong circuit of walls and an array of impressive buildings, including royal apartments, a great hall and a chapel. The northern part of the medieval walls can be seen beside the eastern half of Northumberland Avenue. The Bell Tower is conspicuous by its height among the medieval ramparts here. This four-storey octagonal structure was built in 1577 as a watchtower and bell tower, on the foundations of a medieval building. Lord’s Mount, a great artillery fortification with walls nearly 6m (20ft) thick, was built at the north-east angle of the medieval defences. King Henry VIII, himself a student of fortification, took a personal interest in the drawing up of the plans of these defences (though unfortunately they have been lost). The lower floor survives, with six casemates for long swivel guns and living accommodation, including a kitchen with well and oven and a latrine. An upper floor containing the captain’s apartments and the crowning parapet was demolished when the Elizabethan defences were begun.
