Rose, Charlese & Bernard tackle the Tom Waits legendary classic. Two instruments & vocals only in this one. Double bass (plucked and bowed) & 4 string banjo. I had initially recorded multiple instruments for this (Guitar, Piano & Percussion) but as I mixed in Rose's vocal the sound became more powerful with the more instruments I removed. I guess the old saying "less is more" is true?

This time Chaz brings us the first original song to appear on YKR, yet another tale of woe and doom. I wrote this happy little number about 15 years ago and after stumbling across it again a couple of weeks ago I thought it might be fun to give one of my own songs the Yorkshire Kitchen Recordings "treatment". I got the idea for the lyrics as I watched the News one evening, the whole broadcast had an air of impending doom about it. Full video available on the channel - I found an old version of Chocolate Jesus that I had started in 2017, I think. So I salvaged the Vocals, Double Bass & some of the Slide Guitar and added some newly recorded parts, to make this "Remastered" cover version of the Tom Waits classic :-)

Charleen & Heather bring us a YKR arrangement of the Black Sabbath / The Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation, classic psychedelic rock standard "Warning". Featuring Vocals by Heather, Backing Vocals Kerrie, Banjolele & Melodica.

Chaz takes on the Tom Waits classic, with double bass & banjo. Wanted to try out a more organic type of recording technique, as favoured by Mr Waits himself on this offering. I tried to capture the raw sound of the instruments while keeping the playing to a minimal, in an attempt to create a sparse sounding recording.

Chaz tackles the Jimmie Rodgers classic. I tried to keep this one as stripped back as possible to keep it in the spirit of the original :-)

My Version of the Bob Dylan Classic. I originally recorded a version of this in 2017, but never really completed it. So I re-recorded the guitars, added Banjo and Cajon only the Vocals, Bass & bottle tapping remain from the original. I tried for a more sinister sound than the original and had a "Tales of the Unexpected" idea for a kind of Circus theme vibe. Comedy Chaz video for the laughs :-)
