In my upcoming video I’m going to show you Dubai from up high, 456 meters high to be exact. Fortunately an elevator will bring me to the observation levels 124 and 125, which you can enter both with one single ticket. Delta Airlines threw a pizza party at the airport of Boston, United States, for passengers stranded after their plane returned to airport because of a possible gas leak and passengers didn’t accept 6,000 dollar in gift cards offered to take another flight to Rome, Italy as well. The passengers earlier were confronted with a delay of some 12 hours before the plane was eventually able to depart, only to return a short while later, leaving passengers stranded at Boston, instead of their European holiday destination. Delta Airlines eventually refunded the passengers for their canceled flight and also offered to pay for any non-refundable accommodation that the passengers could not use. Most of the passengers departed for Rome on even later flights. This leaves me guessing why the passengers didn’t pick up that 6,000 dollar gift card offer. An Emirates Airbus A380 airplane with registration A6-EVK landed in Brisbane, Australia with a large hole in its fuselage. The plane had taken off from Dubai some 13 hours earlier. It is assumed by insiders that the damage occurred on take-off, which meant the plane made the entire flight with this gaping hole. Flight EK 430 departing on July 1, 2022 did not report any incidents on take-off or during its long flight, but once the plane arrived at Brisbane, it was pretty obvious something had gone wrong. This part of the fuselage however is not pressurized, which might very well be the reason it was not noticed during the entire flight. There was also slight damage to its nose gear, where a bolt was missing upon arrival. It is unknown however if this is related to the gaping hole in the fuselage. On my first full day in Dubai I had plenty of time to head out and try the public transport as well as exploring parts of old Dubai. I ended up at a fake old market near Dubai Creek, but why is there an entire fake old market? Is Dubai entirely fake then, like so many people have told me before? United Airlines has announced it will add flights from Guam to several destinations in Japan in July and August 2022. Flights to Osaka have been resumed already, while flights to Nagoya will start August 1, Fukuoka August 4 and Tokyo Narita will see increased frequency of flights. The thing is, Japan is still pretty much closed for regular travel and tourism, unless you prefer to have a North-Korea style holiday with a limited-sized group tour that has actual minders with it, as you should not try and explore Japan by yourself right now! Another sad thing is that the United lounge at Guam is still closed. Air New Zealand has announced its newest cabin experience. Its business class products will feature the latest in business class seat developments. Air New Zealand calls these seats ‘nests’. And the nests in the middle can open their partition to create one big nest. I guess. Some of the business class seats will also have full closing doors. The premium economy seats with the airline will have more privacy than before, however you are still seated next to someone. According to the airline, you’ll even be able to recline your seat without disturbing the passenger behind you. Very nice of them to offer that service, but really, is that a feature? You also get a pretty large screen, so you can watch two movies at the same time. Because who doesn’t watch the movie on your neighbor’s screen? Right? For those in economy class, you will get the option to take a bunk bed – eeh skynest. There will be six of these pods at the back of the plane. Now Garuda Indonesia has succeeded in restructuring it's towering debt of some 10 billion US dollar with mostly other state-owned companies in Indonesia, it can now focus on it's actual job; that of flying passengers. Currently they are operating only a handful of international flights, and they are aiming on developing their domestic network with the few airplanes they have left over after sending back over 100 planes since the pandemic broke out early 2020. It is expected that it's low-cost subsidiary Citilink will see an increase in flights to support the network for the full-service Garuda Indonesia operations as well. Garuda Indonesia is also planning on adding new planes now restructuring is completed and corruption has apparently been cut back as well; hopefully leading to reduced costs for the airline to lease or possibly even purchase planes. Currently, Garuda Indonesia only owns six planes outright, and operates a total of 29 planes, down from 142 before the pandemic. German airline Lufthansa has confirmed that it will bring their Airbus A380 superjumbo's back to the skies in 2023. After some words about a possible need for the huge airplane just a few weeks back, it has now been made official, with the airline announcing it will reactivate at least some of their stored A389's. Lufthansa used to have 14 A380's, but has sold off six over recent years, with eight remaining in so-called deep storage in France and Spain. The airline has - of course - not announced yet what routes their Airbus A380's will operate, but it may be assumed it will return to routes already served by the plane before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out and caused international passenger air traffic to almost come a halt in early 2020. After these few days in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, it's time to continue our tip towards the west. Todays no comment walk is a morning walk in KLCC Park, in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It's about half an hour of walking through a lush tropical green park with sporting facilities and a swimming pool. Views offered are of course that of the Petronas Twin Towers, but also nearby office buildings like Exxon Mobil and hotels that are built on the very edge of the park. The KLCC Park is an urban park in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The park has been designed to provide greenery to Petronas Twin Towers and the areas surrounding it. The park was designed to showcase a heritage of tropical greenery by integrating man's creation with nature. The park itself contrasts as a calm environment in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city. A man made lake was built in the middle of the park with a 18 meter high water fountain, directly in front of Suria KLCC mall and Petronas Twin Towers towards the middle of the park. Today's video is all about two somewhat hidden things you can find in Kuala Lumpur if you know where to look and if you are there at the right time. The secret alley in Chinatown isn't that secret, but you should not be afraid walking into an alleyway that looks less safe than you prefer. It's right there where it's happening, and Kuala Lumpur is by no means an unsafe city. The second part of the video we're exploring a pop-up food market that caters to those wanting to break the fast. These markets only operate during the fasting month of Ramadan, which coincided with April almost exactly this year. Because every breaking of the fast is a little celebration, all kinds of fresly prepared foods can be bought here, and those who are not fasting are also welcome to join of course. One of two observation decks I visited during my trip in April 2022 was the 370-meter high observation deck at the Petronas Twin Towers. It takes two elevator rides to get there, but it's worth while taking some time for this as views are amazing and with clear weather you can even see the Malacca Strait! Petronas Towers, also known as Petronas Twin Towers is a 88-story, 451.9-meter-tall supertall skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is the world's tallest twin skyscraper. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat's official definition and ranking, they were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004 when they were surpassed by Taipei 101, also in 2020, they were surpassed by Merdeka 118 as the tallest building in Malaysia. The Petronas Towers do however, remain the tallest twin towers in the world. They are also a major landmark of Kuala Lumpur, along with nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower and Merdeka 118, and are visible in many places across the city. Jamek Mosque, officially Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The mosque was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback, and built in 1909. We're walking through the very heart of old town Kuala Lumpur where we walk past the Jamek Mosque, Merdeka Square and other - mostly - colonial landmarks in the area. Jamek Mosque, officially Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The mosque was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback, and built in 1909. Merdeka Square is a square located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is situated in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. Literally Independence Square, it was formerly known as the Selangor Club Padang and was used as the cricket green of the then Selangor Club. It was here the Union Flag was lowered and the Malaysian flag hoisted for the first time at midnight on 31 August 1957. The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is a late-nineteenth century building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The construction of the building began in September 1894 and was completed in 1897. The building originally housed the offices of the British colonial administration, and was known simply as Government Offices in its early years. In 1974 it was renamed after Sultan Abdul Samad, the reigning sultan of Selangor at the time when construction began. A visit to Kuala Lumpur isn't complete if you didn't bring a visit to the Batu Caves Hindu temples just north of the city. We'll hop on a commuter train that will bring us virtually to the entrance of the temple complex and spend most of our time climbing all those 272 steps towards the biggest shrine at the location. And as waiting over an hour for a train isn't really an option, we just take a car from a ride-hail app instead. Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Malay word batu, meaning 'rock'. The hill was originally known as Kapal Tanggang from the legend of Si Tanggang. The town nearby is named after the Batu Caves limestone formation. The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of the Tamil festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia. Batu Caves in short also referred as 10th Caves or Hill for Lord Murugan as there are six important holy shrines in India and four more in Malaysia. The three others in Malaysia are Kallumalai Temple in Ipoh, Tanneermalai Temple in Penang and Sannasimalai Temple in Malacca.
