Despite the car driving good in the prior episode, a closer inspection revealed a lot of worn out components. The bushings, ball joints, tie rods, and more all showed significant wear so I elected to remove and replace pretty much everything. Not only that, but I also took extra time to restore the parts and make everything look like new before reassembly. Due to the intensity of what I'm going to have to do on this car, I'm splitting up the chassis rebuild into two separate videos. This video will focus on the front end. The S10's engine has developed some catastrophic issues that are going to require it to be replaced. The 5.3L LM7 (iron block LS engine) I will hope to have fixed and save it for the future, but to get the S10 wrapped up, I've decided to utilize a 6.0L LQ4 (iron block LS engine) that I had on hand. This way I can hopefully get the truck fixed relatively quick. Then this several year build will be complete! While I have dreaded fixing this for quite some time now, the truck is going to have more power, which will make it even more fun! I appreciate all of your support with this build so far. My goal with this video is to be able to take it on a much longer drive so I have a better idea on how far I'll end up needing to go with chassis work. It's amazing how quickly a project can escalate and this was a great example of that! This time, I'll be hooking up the Holley Terminator X Max system and getting the engine fired up! It's a wicked cool BluePrint Engines 396 cu/in small block V8 that I've completely decked out to either sell or use for a future project. As I mentioned in the last video, engine test stands, whether they be homemade or purchased, are an incredible asset for any shop. Not only are you able to "break-in" engines outside of the vehicle, but you can easily and quickly make repairs as necessary while it's still outside the vehicle. I'll also be dressing up a wicked cool BluePrint Engines 396 cu/in small block V8 to mount and run on the stand. Test stands, whether they be homemade or purchased, are an incredible asset for any shop.
