Jones Pass EP 02
Jones Pass - Getting Out and Exploring
Hello folks!
I've had this footage for a while and just needed to wrap my head around how to put it together. I went to Jones pass about a month ago with my new Jeep and was just getting to grips with thin roads. It was a good trip, and very cold.
One challenge I'm having while compiling this kind of content, is having enough of the right b-rolls, and I'm finding I talk a bucket load. I just discovered in this video too, that not everything needs music to transition from one place to the next.
Anyway, apologies for not having a ton of great views at the top. I get nervous when I'm around other people while I have a big camera, I do a lot better when there aren't others around. That, and it was REALLY windy and REALLY cold!!! More things to work on for future videos. =)
Hang in there! I'll get better at this. I really need a camera person =P Which kind of sucks because I honestly enjoy doing the camera work a lot!

Boulder Falls EP 01
Boulder Falls - Get Out and Explore
(Some swearing, it's something I'm trying to fix for future videos. I'm learning. Bear with me.)
This is my first video ever really, and using some editing tutorials and lessons found on Udemy. So, take it with a grain of salt! I didn't really know what I was doing when I went out there. I'm pretty happy however, with this being my first attempt at it!!!
Anyway, here are a few things I've learned.
-- More B-Roll --
I found that I just didn't have enough, and what I did have was hit or miss if it was good or not. I need more! Much more! That's really the purpose of going out there too and doing this. The more you do the more you learn. Sorry for the "long" driving scenes. This could also be helped if I stopped along the way up and took some fun shots. THINK OF MORE FUN SHOTS!
-- Wait Longer when filming --
It doesn't hurt to hold the camera for an extra 10 seconds to have that wiggle room in editing.
-- Mics are surprisingly good at killing background sound --
I think I just have good mics. Hooray! I was watching the meters and I swore I was going to be drowned out, but when editing I found I was totally fine.
-- Quit cursing --
I'd like to make this friendly for anyone to watch. I need to get control of the mouth! Will try!
-- Do more Transitions --
I had a hard time remembering to swirl the camera or swing it when I was done. I also never remembered to do the opposite to start conversations!
Future things to try
-- Color Gradients --
Or whatever it is, Color Correction? I'm not there yet, but that is on the list of things to try out in the future once I'm comfortable with editing
-- Transition with Object --
I am going to look up one of those tutorials for how to do those transitions where you film and then slide behind a tree to transition to the next scene. I love those, and want to learn how to do that.
