Deuteronomy 23
The difficulty in this chapter is determining what is meant by "the assembly of Yahweh." It does NOT mean that one can no longer be a part of the nation of Israel. It does not mean they cannot worship Elohim.
It is referring to participating in the gatherings of all the males three times a year (Deut. 16:16).
There are other laws in this chapter concerning usury, eating from your neighbors vineyard, and general sanitation. The Torah is WAY ahead of it's time! Join us and see if you don't agree!

Deuteronomy 22
This chapter contains various laws concerning how to deal with our fellow man as well as with ourselves. This chapter gives laws concerning clothing, housetops, and rape.
While we receive these instructions, we need to understand that in that day, as well as today, there are no easy answers to some of the sins we commit!

Deuteronomy 9
The reason for Israel possessing the land is not because of their righteousness. It is the unrighteousness of the Canaanites that is the problem. Elohim is doing this ONLY because He is faithful to His promise and covenant that He made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Exod. 32:13, Ezek. 20:13-14, Romans 3:1-4).
This is an important fact we need to remember! Elohim did not choose you or I based upon our righteousness, our good looks, or our personable charm. He chose us because He is faithful to His promise that He made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Deuteronomy 8
Elohim is reminding the people to obey all His commandments. If we are obedient, He says they will live and multiply and possess this land that was promised to their forefathers.
He reminds us that this land was promised to their forefathers. If He promised it to them, why didn't they get it? The fact is, Elohim owed those people nothing. He delivered them from bondage in Egypt through no merit of their own. He promised them the most beautiful, fertile, and abundant land in the world.
But the people put Elohim to the test ten times (Num. 14:22-23). They saw His glory and His signs and they still did not repent. Sadly enough, there is no amount of signs and wonders that will make most people be faithful to Elohim and His ways. When Yeshua told the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, the rich man wanted a miraculous sign to be given to his five brothers in order that they might repent. But he was told that if they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, then no miraculous sign would help them (Luke 16:19-31).

Deuteronomy 7
Israel is to clear away these particular nations that are in this land they are to inherit. They are seven nations that are each stronger than Israel. Elohim says that they are to utterly destroy them. They are not to make any agreements with them.
Why is Elohim so seemingly harsh (by man's standards) against these people? They were people steeped in paganism, immorality, and sin beyond redemption. The only result of the survival of these pagan nations would be the complete corruption or destruction of Israel.

Deuteronomy 6
The commandments, statutes and judgments are to be given to the people for when they enter the land. Why then? Because the Land is the one of the intricate blessings of the covenant between Elohim and His people. Their Covenant states that they will obey everything He commands. For this, He will be their Elohim and they will be His people and they will inherit the finest land in the world.
The Land is indelibly tied to Torah. But Torah is not indelibly tied to just the land (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, Psalm 112:1-6).

Deuteronomy 4
Moses is going to go into the statutes and judgments that are needed in order for Israel to do three things: 1. To live. 2. To go into the land. 3. To take possession of the land. Some people interpret this passage as pertaining to just entering the land. But that is not how Moses phrased this message here, nor in Leviticus (Lev. 18:5). Nehemiah knew that life comes from the laws, commandments, statutes, and ordinances (Neh. 9:29).
Yeshua was asked by a certain lawyer, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" Yeshua responded by asking him "What do the commandments say?" Yeshua then quotes this passage saying that life comes from Torah (Luke 10:25-28).

Deuteronomy 3
Moses is still telling Israel why they are where they are. Because of the sin of their parents, they were forced to wander the wilderness for these forty years until that generation died.

Deuteronomy 2
Moses is still reminding them of what has happened to them. Moses just reminded the people why they could not enter into the land of Canaan. They then set out for the wilderness. They circled Mount Seir for many days. Mount Seir was close to that Promised Land, but they now had to go to the wilderness.
