Joy of the Garden

I know I was meant to have these treasures because the weather held out all the days I needed.

You never know what you are capable of until you are faced with the challenge.

Who doesn't like a clean space? Plus the garden benefits greatly!

This was a mixed bag of success and failures. I'm pretty happy with the harvest and look forward to next year. Also, I'm curing them in a bin with a heat mat and bowl of water. So far so good...

We have crocuses coming up, potatoes harvested and unexpected raspberries, all in one morning.

Was very productive this afternoon clearing beds. And the chickens get some nice treats.

As the fall weather holds its warmth, it limits the beds I'm willing to put to rest. The south wall though is ready. I learned that Ginger really needs close to a year to be productive.

Prep always takes longer than I think, and the peppers end up taking priority today.

Since my fall gardening attempt was foiled, and I don't have a greenhouse yet... I'm going to content myself with some windowsill growing.

Only a few harvests left. Today it's cherry tomatoes, peppers and eggplants.

October marks the start of garden rest. Many beds are still productive, so this process will take awhile...

Late September walk-around. This time is mostly spent waiting for frost. I like to let the plants fruit as long as they can versus heading them off early just to have a clean garden space...

With the odd weather this summer, I was not as burnt out as I've been in previous years. We'll see if the weather holds out and my efforts into a fall garden will succeed...

Best harvest season ever.

These chicks were hatched on Aug. 7, delivered on the 8th and adopted on the 9th. So far so good...

Really should have harvested a week ago. Maybe I'll learn my lesson for next year.

Mid July is starting to show promise; lots of flowers and some fruits! Also some losses, some accidental some unexpected...

I've seen and heard it done both ways. Will it work for me?

On the surface, these potatoes stopped growing weeks ago. But this quick harvest tells a different story. The plants that still look relatively healthy will stay to grow on, stay tuned to see how the other potato containers faired...
