Today, the divide between fellow Oregonians is so extreme, that one group wants to split and merge with Idaho. It’s called the “Greater Idaho Movement.” This group asserts that northwest Oregon - think Portland and all those BLM protests - holds 79% of the state’s population. They believe this has created an unbalanced power structure - one that leaves the rest of Oregon residents overshadowed and without a voice. They believe if left unchecked this will allow Oregon to “violate more and more American values and American freedoms.” So what’s the beef about? Lawlessness, taxes that are too high, out of control wildfires, excessive regulation, high cost of living...but it’s also about power. They note that the areas in contention -the eastern districts and the rural districts - have only 2 representatives in the Oregon statehouse. However, if the border was moved, these new districts would be a part of the ruling party in Idaho- the Republican party. So far, 11 of the proposed 15 counties have voted to join the Greater Idaho movement and abandon Oregon. They complain that only 25% of registered voters in Oregon are Republican and that they haven’t had a Republican Governor in 40 years. Meanwhile, Idaho is one of the top 5 most conservative states in the U.S. and 80% of the legislature is Republican. This is all laid out in their FAQ on the website. They’re saying the quiet part out loud: this isn’t about freedom, per se. This is about being in power, only being ruled by your kind, in this case, the Republican party. It’s about us v. them and if victory is not an option we’ll just leave mentality. How do I know all this? Well, this is part of the case the movement is making, plastering it all over their website. It’s partisan politics plain and simple. Just take a listen to some of the categories on their FAQ section: WHY DON'T WE GIVE PORTLAND TO WASHINGTON? LIBERALS ARE GOING TO MOVE HERE AND MAKE US LIBERAL ANYWAY! WHAT IF BOISE’S LIBERALS EVENTUALLY OUTVOTE RURAL IDAHO? I’M AN IDAHOAN AND I DON’T WANT ANY MORE LIBERALS MOVING HERE TO WATER DOWN OUR VOTES! Plus there’s maps of how the counties and how they voted in the presidential elections. They literally just took a marker and annexed the blue northwestern part of Oregon, then dipped down for a few counties in California. They did sacrifice a couple of red districts sandwiched between the blue ones, but hey, some sacrifices have to be made, you know? It’s like if Napoleon Bonaparte wore a MAGA hat and started his crusade to take over the country in eastern oregon. Becoming clearer now, isn't it? It’s a I didn’t win, I'll just take my toys and go home type of vibe. The Citizens for Greater Idaho is partnered with Move Oregon’s Border - both of which are responsible for carrying out the “Greater Idaho Movement. Their goal is simple: “We promote the idea of creating a greater (bigger & stronger) Idaho so that conservative counties can become a part of a red state.” The movement claims that polling shows more than 60% of Oregon voters are on board with the decision. They also have met the legislature of Idaho . The governor of Idaho has spoken positively about these ideas and is on board. But isn’t it a bit strange? It’s all blue v. red. If they were in power all would be okay? I doubt it. This movement is enabling the idea that different types of people, those with different political beliefs, can’t even reside in the same state. It’s a bit childish, a bit immature. This is how a constitutional republic works. This is democracy in action. Liberals won. Democrats are in charge. Apparently, the Republican party in Oregon can’t handle that they are losers. They don’t have winning ideas or they would have winning campaigns and have the statehouse. And is this a solution? I didn’t win so therefore I’ll just get the next state to take care of me? Everyone claims they are rational and live in the land of common sense, but conservatives of this nature really need to check themselves. You LOST! Do better. Get organized. Propose something other than whining. You also lost the presidential election…. But I don’t see you leaving the country… Everyone, the civil war has begun. I never thought it would happen in Idaho and Oregon, but here we are. It’s a war of borders but this isn’t a great sign for the country. Good luck, but this seems a bit whiny to me. I lived in New York and got tired of the high cost of living, the high crime rates, the low quality of living, woke policies - so I LEFT and went on with my life. I get that it is’ difficult to do, but it can be done. If things are really as dangerous and expensive as you say, then don’t stay there. It’s like how conservatives hate blue states but then get their news from Fox in NYC and listen to pundits residing in NY or CA. Even the annual CPAC conference gathering of conservatives takes place in the swamp of D.C. Blue states can’t be that bad if everyone hangs out there, lives there, and does business there, can they? Just because you’re unhappy with where you’re at doesn’t mean the entire state needs to bend to your will and get out of your way. If it was more along the lines of - we are bleeding to death with taxes and regulation and we want out, we want to be free, great. But this is really all a party. All I want is to win and fly my flag … but if I don't, all I’m gonna be a sore loser and bitch about it. Why don’t you just leave your own state… yeah, that’s right, that’s too hard. You need a state and government to support you. If I really wanted less government, I wouldn’t be rooting for switching masters. That’s just rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. Try to emancipate yourself entirely and live with less regulation and taxes. It’s gonna get weird if every-time a state swings one way politically the opposing party tries to annex the state. Dear God, my home state of Ohio will be doing this every four years. Idaho is sitting on nearly $2 billion in revenue surplus. That’s money taxed out of Idahoans paycheck, given to their lords in the statehouse, and then socked away for their keeping. How safe do you think that will be, though? Residents are having money taken away from them but then not getting a return on $2 billion. Overtaxing and hoarding, doesn't sound too conservative to me… but run to their welcoming arms if you must. Moving borders won’t solve problems… it will only create more. We’ll be moving them every 4 years and make life more complicated. The liberals you left behind are still living in this country so you can’t ever escape them… the only solution is a civil war then. We can blame politicians for being petty all we want, but look at this crap. Petty people doing petty things. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes. Something has to give with the things that are going on in this country, but this aint it… it’s just a pep rally that could turn into an accidental civil war. Splitting from each other isn’t the solution. Divide and conquer - those in power know it. Politicians constantly make us feel pitted against others - that way we don’t hold them accountable. You’ve probably only begun to hear of him recently. Well, he is the newly elected congressman from Long Island. This guy slid into victory on a magic carpet of lies … and not just the typical politician “I’ll tell you what you want to hear to get your vote” kind of lies. No. These lies are so obvious and senseless it makes no sense that he even made them. It wasn’t flip-flopping on issues - he crafted a whole new life and identity for himself. The district is not only deeply, blue, it has been blue for a long time. It’s an area he flipped red. Guess it goes to show you that even rich, wealthy, and elitist snobs can be conned. Let’s review all the lies… Number One: Santos ran for the same district in 2020. On his campaign website at the time he claimed to have attended a prestigious prep school in New York. Here’s the excerpt: “He began Horace Mann preparatory school in the Bronx, however, did not graduate from Horace Mann due to financial difficulties for his family.” SOT: movie line on lying The school says they have no record of his attendance. Number Two: Santos claimed to have earned college degrees at NYC and Baruch College. SOT: movie line on lying He never graduated. In fact, he never attended either school. This lie Santos refers to as “embellishing his resume.” Which begs the question why? What are you really trying to cover up? If he’s covering something dark or devious, then he’s and evil coward who can’t up to his own decision. If he’s not covering up something, then he’s a pathological liar. And that's dangerous. It’s psychopathic… and do we really want someone in government without a conscience and without empathy? Number Three: Santos Claimed to have worked at Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. SOT: movie line on lying He’s admitted, now, that he never worked there - but with the caveat he worked for both banks through a third party. Of course, he has provided no evidence that’s true. Number Four: Weirdly enough, with no college education and a vague employment history, he started an investment firm in 2021. However, the firm closed in 2022 after failing to file paperwork. He made millions in just months - with no explanation how was able to start the firm or how he made industry connections. This one isn’t a lie per se but it is definitely sketchy. SOT: Cardi B Number Five: Santos claims to have started a charity called Friends of Pets United. He boasted about saving thousands of dogs and cats. SOT: movie line on lying There are no IRS records the charity existed. After this was exposed, he said he only campaigned for the group and helped some animals find foster homes. Number Six: On his campaign site, Santos claimed that his grandparents, on his mother’s side, escaped the Holocaust. SOT: movie line on lying There is no proof that this is true. In fact, those grandparents were born in Brazil. Number Seven: This is the big kahuna. It’s strange and racist in a new way. Santos constantly told people that he is Jewish. He even claimed this to the Republican Jewish Coalition. In a position paper, he referred to himself as an “American Jew.” SOT: movie line on lying. He’s actually Catholic. After getting busted for lying about his ethnicity, Santos dropped this whopper: He claimed on Fox News that he only referred to himself as being “Jew-ish.” Number Eight: Santos claimed to own more than a dozen rental properties across the state. SOT: movie line on lying. He doesn't own any buildings. He later said that his family owned them and he just used them. Number Nine This is the darkest lie. In an uncovered Tweet, he claims that his mother died in 9/11. Five months later she he Tweeted that his mother died December 23, 2016. There’s no way this woman died twice. Santos has not addressed this lie. An obituary confirms that the December date is accurate - not the 9/11 one. Number Eleven: Santos claimed to have been mugged on his way to pay more than $2,000 in back rent on his Queen’s apartment he was evicted from. He said this in a sworn statement in housing court in 2016. SOT: movie line on lying. There is no NYPD record of the mugging. In an affidavit Santos claims he was “unable to provide a police report” at the time and was told to come back a few days later. There are also a bunch of weird campaign expenses. In a filing with the Federal Election Commission, there are nearly 40 expenditures that are all listed at the exact same amount: $199.99. It’s not just odd, it’s a beneficial coincidence. These are one cent below the amount the FEC requires a campaign to keep receipts. There’s also a mysterious expense for nearly $11,000 in rent to a company called Cleaner 123. The address is to a house in Long Island - one that a neighbor says Santos lived in for 3 months. All these lies and he still got elected. You’re probably thinking “hey, but no one knew this, it only recently came out after he was elected.” You’d be wrong. Santos' lies were first unveiled four months ago by The North Shore Leader, a small paper in Long Island. The dutifully detailed all of Santo’s dubious claims. Local political observers called him “George Scamtos.” The North Shore Leader highlighted all the glaring gaps in Santos' September 6th financial disclosures- which was filed 20 months later. In it, he claimed to have a net worth of $11 million. This included bank accounts ranging from $1-$5 million, a condo in Rio de Janeiro worth between $500,000-$1 million and business interest between $1-$5 million. Two years earlier, when he ran for the same seat, his disclosure listed his total assets (bank accounts, stocks, property) as less than $5,000. His income was only listed as around $50,000. In 2020, federal prosecutors seized “Harbor Hill Capital” - the venture fund where Santos was a director. Prosecutors labeled it a Ponzi scheme. Here comes what is likely another lie. After mysteriously coming into all this money, Santos claimed to own two mansions. Yet, there is no U.S. property listed on his financial disclosures. In reality, Santos and his husband live in a rented apartment in Queens and he drives a Nissan. On his initial FEC filing, Santos claims to have "loaned" his campaign nearly $600,000. This loan does not appear on his more recent FEC filing. So who the !@#$ knows what Santos earns or owns. But what we do know is a snake is trying to slither his way into the D.C. swamp. And at a time when Republicans should be demanding that he resign, they are defending him. Marjorie Taylor Greene is defending him, saying the left is only attacking Santos because he is gay. Mum’s the word with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy - all because he needs Santos’ vote to become House Speaker. Long Island prosecutors are investigating Santos and many have called for a House Ethic committee investigation. But the Republican party is embracing him. Sounds about right. Even though Santos did all the lying, it’s the GOP that’s coming out worse for the wear. Have they no shame? They can whine and !@#$ about Hunter’s laptop all they want, but when they prop us up a guy like Satnos they don’t care about corruption and ethics or abuse of power. They only care about being in power. They want to be the ones who get to abuse it. So instead of saying what the !@#$ is wrong with Santos we should be asking what the !@#$ is wrong with Republicans? NUMBER 10 - FREEDOM CONVOY The year kicked off with built up anger of vaccine mandates. Remember those? Somehow, the talk about covid and masks and vaccine mandates quieted as the midterm election got into full swing. Coincidence, I don’t think so… anyways. People in the U.S.were ticked at Biden for the mandates - especially truckers. But it was Canadians who really served up a dish of !@#$ around and find out. On January 22, 2022, truckers across Canada set out on a path to occupy Ottawa- the capital of Canada. They dubbed themselves the Freedom Convoy. And as polite as Canadians are, they didn’t cave. They stayed for one month. They even blockaded the Ambassador Bridge and Coutts border crossing. Tiny !@$ Trudeau was not happy. He whipped out his commie powers and started striking. He invoked the never before used emergency powers act. He said, “We cannot and will not allow illegal and dangerous activities to continue.” Because protests against authority are dangerous according to this tyrant. This allowed him to impose bans on public assembly, prohibit travel to protest zones, and the ability to freeze bank accounts. Let’s give him a round of applause. Missile and artillery attacks started striking major Ukrainian cities - including the capital of Kiev. The U.S. rushed to fund this nonsense, because we get involved in absolutely everything. Besides, we're excerpts in international conflict. You know how well we did in Iraq and Afghanistan, right? Ukraine then received nearly $50 billion in aid. Then again, more recently, Congress approved another $45 billion for Ukraine… jamming it into the nearly $1.7 trillion spending bill passed just days before Christmas. It would only cost $8 billion a year to end homelessness in California. But homeless people are not as strong a virtue signal as Ukraine. Sorry homeless people, y'all can go die. Formula maker Abbott had their plant shutdown because a bacteria was found on site. The FDA and CDC began an investigation. Reports linked contaminated baby formula with two infant deaths and two hospitalizations. By the end of May, more than 70% of U.S. baby formula supplies were out of stock. Stores like CVS and Target began limiting purchases of baby formula. In ten major metro areas, supplies were out by 80% - 90%. Today, more than 9 months later, about a third of families in the US say they still have trouble finding baby formula. A waiver was instituted that lifted tariffs on foreign baby formula shipments. This is set to expire in the new year and is expected to exacerbate the still lingering baby formula shortage. On May 24, 18 year old Salvador Ramos walked into the Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas. Before he was shot and killed, Ramos murdered 19 children and 2 teachers. The police were an epic failure. For more than 1 hour, Ramos was allowed to run free in the school shooting people. Officers were given orders to not go in, parents were zip tied and prevented from going in themselves. It took a Border Patrol unit to ignore and order to stand down for someone to go in. Why all the confusion and why were orders given to stand down? Wy didn’t cops go in anyways, instead of leaving children to be sitting ducks for a murderous madman? Why haven’t we gotten any answers? WADE OVERTURNED After nearly 50 years, Roe v. Wade was overturned on June 24. A couple months prior, a draft of the opinion leaked on Politico. Here we are 7 months later, and the individual who leaked the document has still not been publicly identified. As of 2017, there were nearly 1,600 abortion providers in the U.S. More than 90% of abortions occur during the first trimester. Nearly 1 in 4 abortions are by a woman who’s had one before. Nearly 60% of women who had an abortion were in their 20’s. By June of this year, 2022, inflation continued to soar, spiking to more than 9% compared to the previous year. But the financial circumstances are much worse. Gas also hit a new high - hitting the never before $5 gallon benchmark. Home prices became unaffordable for most. The National Association of Realtors report that the median single family home is nearly $400,000. According to Redfin, the average buyer would need to make over $100,000 to afford that home. It was just $73,000 of an annual salary, from the year before. The monthly mortgage payment on a typical home increased to more than $1800 - that’s a 50% increase from the year before. You can’t afford to fuel up, feed yourself, or find a home… but don’t worry, Ukraine is still getting another $45 billion. Pakistan experienced a flood so bad it submerged ⅓ of the country. Torrential monsoon rainfall was 10 times heavier than usual, causing the Indus River to overflow. It has affected 33 million people, estimated to have caused $10 billion in damages to infrastructure, destroyed or damaged more than 1 million homes, destroyed more than 800 health facilities, killed more than 750,000 heads of cattle, and caused the death of more than 1,100 people. This came on the heels of multiple scandals that caused nearly 60 members of parliament - in his own party - to resign. On September 6, Liz Truss became Prime Minister.
