Techno Basslines | So Simple Yet So Hard To Get
Techno Bass-lines. So simple, yet so hard to get.
My name is Tiago Duarte, and welcome to DailyBeats where I help you master the software so that it’s just you and Music.
In this video, I’m going to show you 3 ways to improve your techno bass lines. If you are new to the channel, subscribe and activate the notifications so that you are up to date with all the videos I publish about music production.
When I started making techno, I got frustrated really fast. One of the elements that were hard for me was creating bass lines. I would hear my favorite sets and DJs and I would think that the bass lines were simple yet I was not able to make cool bass lines for my tracks. Let me know in the comments below what things are hard for you to make when producing techno. I would love to read your comments.
Let's start with the basics. Techno bass lines tend to be repetitive and don't have too many different notes. I've created techno bass lines with just a single note. This adds tension, which is very important in techno. There are some ways to add variation to a single note bass line, for example, adding distortion, opening up low pass filters, delay, and the list goes on.
You will also find a lot of syncopation on techno basslines and by adding syncopation you can create some really cool sounds. You will also find a lot of techno rumble and rolling bass lines.

Snap To Grid | Grid Modes in FL Studio
When you understand grid modes, you will see your music and your productivity getting better. In this video, I’m going to explain all the grid modes and some tricks to help you speed up your workflow.
My name is Tiago Duarte, and welcome to DailyBeats where I help you master the software so that it’s just you and Music. If you are new to the channel, subscribe and activate the notifications so that you are up to date with all the videos I publish about music production.
When I understood the snap modes, I became more productive with FL Studio. I was able to move notes, audio clips, and patterns to the correct position in the project. Sometimes I hear beats that some of you send me and one of the things that I see is that the instruments don’t all align correctly. Sometimes when we want to add swing or groove to beats, we move the notes around and out of the grid but if you are starting out, I would recommend first staying within the grid to understand it correctly. When you are more experienced, then you can experiment with going out of the grid modes to try things out.
There are several Snap configurations across the FL Studio pages. You have a local Snap button on the Playlist, Paino Roll, and on the Event Editor. There is also a Global Snap panel that sets the snap value when the local snap is set to Main.
When you change the local snap mode, you will see the grid lines change to display the size of the grid. For example, a whole note is a bar, and a quarter note is 1 beat.

Mid-Side EQ in FL Studio | Why and How
You need to learn mid-side eq if you want to become a better producer. Let me show you why and how.
My name is Tiago Duarte, and welcome to DailyBeats where I help you master the software so that it’s just you and Music. Support the channel by buying one of our products at dailybeats.pt or a hoodie sweater like this one in our merch store. Link in the description. Let’s get into mid-side eq.
A few years ago I got frustrated with my music skills. I was making beats every day to improve and become a professional producer. I was making music non-stop. Making beats, trying to mix and master them, and then uploading them to YouTube. It was exciting in the beginning but after one year or two in, it became frustrating when I realized that I was not improving the quality of my masters. I set on a quest to try to understand what I should do to make my masters sound better. I tried a bunch of different things but nothing seemed to really make a really big difference. I kept going with the idea in my mind that I would eventually get it and find a process that would work for me.
That moment was when I learned mid-side eq and started to include it in my mastering process. Now I can't release any music without first checking how the mid and side of the track sound. Is that important.
Let me know in the comments what is that is making you feel frustrated while making music or what was your aha moment that you notice made you a better producer. I would love to hear your story.

How To Add Swing to Drums | FL Studio + Ableton
Swing can completely transform the way your music sounds and add bounce and groove to any musical piece. A lot of the old-school rap and hip-hop tracks have a unique swing to them due to the pieces of gear used in that era. Some of which you might have heard of. Machines like Akay MPC, SP1200, Ensoniq EPS 16, Linn, and the list goes on. A lot of the swing that we hear on those machines comes from the fact that when the beatmakers were producing beats they were physically hitting the pad to trigger sounds and they imprinted the human feel and swing into to tracks. Today we lost a little bit of that magic because we can make music with mouse clicks.
But fear not fellow producer :D The Swing gods shared with me some tips that I will pass on to you so that you too can apply swing to your tracks correctly.

Techno Rumble - How To - Based on Techno TOP 100
Would you like to learn how to make low-end Techno Rumble that is synonymous with huge Techno Tracks? Today I'm going to show you a really cool technique for low-end rumble.
My name is Tiago Duarte, and welcome to DailyBeats where I help you master the software so that it’s just you and Music. If you are new to the channel, subscribe and activate the notifications so that you are up to date with all the videos I publish about music production.
Let’s take a look at the Top 100 Techno Chart at Beatport to get a feeling for how we want our Techno rumble to sound. I particularly like the track Terra from Jay Lumen.
Sounds really cool. We have a mix of kick rumble with a rolling bass. The kick sounds full and large. It's a great example of rumble at its best. The next track is The Second Law of Thermodynamics by NoNameLeft. Being a scientist, I really like the name of this track. Even though both tracks sound differently, they both have the same pattern of kick, kick rumble, and rolling bass.
Rumble is a combination of a kick sample, equalization, delay, reverb, and distortion. There are multiple ways of combining these effects. The way that will give you more control is to create parallel paths with a combination of those effects.

FL Studio vs Ableton | Buying guide
FL Studio or Ableton Live? In this video, I’m going over the differences between the two DAW.
My name is Tiago Duarte, and welcome to DailyBeats where I help you master the software so that it’s just you and Music. If you are new to the channel, subscribe and activate the notifications so that you are up to date with all the videos I publish about music production.
FL Studio and Ableton Live are two of the most popular DAWs for making music on your computer. I’ll break this analysis in 5 different parts:
- Features/versions of each DAW
- Workflow
- Available Platforms
- Learning resources
- Price
FL Studio is divided into 4 versions.
Fruity Edition is the most basic version and allows you to write loops and melodies with limited playlist features, no audio clips, and no audio recording. FL Studio Production Edition gives all the playlist features and audio recording along with 6 additional native plugins. FL Studio Signature bundle gives all the features of the previous versions plus 13 additional native plugins. And finally FL Studio All Plugins Editions gives you all the FL Studio native plugins. The FL Studio Fruity Edition is a great entry point to making music on your computer. Even though you can do a lot with just the plugins available with FL Studio, not being able to work with audio clips in the playlist is a huge limitation for modern music production. But if you are just writing music without using audio clips, then this could be a good entry point to try FL Studio.
Ableton Live provides 3 versions. Live Intro provides you with the essentials to start making music with 16 audio ad MIDI tracks, 16 scenes, and 2 send and return tracks. Live Standard provides you with full features plus some extras with unlimited audio and MIDI tracks, unlimited scenes, and 12 send and return tracks. Live Suite provides you with the complete integrated studio suite with all the features of the Standard plus Max for Live, 17 instruments, 60 audio effects, and 16 midi effects.
The Live Intro is a great way to start with making music on your computer and try Ableton Live. The only thing that is hard to overlook is the 16 audio and MIDI tracks limitation. After you get some experience in making music you will have projects with more than 16 tracks.

How to EQ - The Basics
Hi, in this video I’m going to explain the basics of how to EQ properly. I’m going to show you the different types of EQ curves and the various parameters you have at your disposal so that you can improve your mixes. At the end of the video, I’m going to share some tips and some examples of equalization curves that I've done in some of my mixing projects.

If you want to support the channel consider buying one of the products at dailybeats.pt or becoming a member of the channel. For only 3,99 a month you will have access to all the premium videos I do to the channel. You'll learn how to make professional beats, professional mixes, and mastering. I recently uploaded a new Start To Finish Series for premium members showing my entire mixing and mastering process. I’ll have a link in the description if you want to check it out.
Equalization is the process of adjusting the volume of different frequency bands of audio. This helps us to adjust the timbre of individual instruments and vocals to fit all the audio tracks within the overall frequency spectrum of the mix.

Compression - What It Is and How It Works
Hi,
In this video, I'm going to explain the 4 most common parameters you will find in audio compressors and I'm going to also explain the different types of compressors that you can use in your productions to get great mixes.
My name is Tiago Duarte, and welcome to DailyBeats where I help you master the software so that it’s just you and Music. If you are new to the channel, subscribe and activate the notifications so that you are up to date with all the videos I publish about music production.
Compressors are one of the most difficult tools to understand in music production. When I started making music professionally, I would use compressors but now really understand why I was using them. A few months ago, I was mixing one of my beats and I thought to myself: this track does not need compression. For a long time, I added compressors to all my tracks without too much thought. But after mixing hundreds of tracks, I started to get a better feeling of how and when to use compression to get the sound that I want.
You can get there too with practice and hopefully with the help of this video.

How To Record Guitars on FL Studio
Hi,
In this video, I’m going to show you how to record guitar on FL Studio. Learning how to record instruments in FL Studio is a great way for you to start expanding your music productions skills.
If you ever faced issues while recording a guitar in FL Studio, this video will help you get better recordings. At the end of the video, I’m going to show you how I made an entire beat without being a good guitar player.
My name is Tiago Duarte, and welcome to DailyBeats where I help you master the software so that it’s just you and Music. If you are new to the channel, subscribe and activate the notifications so that you are up to date with all the videos I publish about music production.
I recently started to learn how to play guitar. I’ve been practicing guitar almost every day because I really want to become good at playing guitar. Even though I’m still a beginner at playing the guitar, I have experience in music production so I can maximize my beginner skills and make great music with the guitar. To do that, you just need to learn how to record yourself playing the guitar or any other instruments and with the magic of editing, make dope beats.
Recording in FL Studio is not the easiest thing in my opinion but with a little bit of practice and know-how, you will be able to make professional recordings.

Home Studio Essentials
Hi,
In this video, I’m going to show you how to build a home studio by choosing the right equipment and software for your needs. Whether you have a small budget or a big budget, I’m going to show you what you need to start making great music.
My name is Tiago Duarte, and welcome to DailyBeats where I help you master the software so that it’s just you and Music. If you are new to the channel, subscribe and activate the notifications so that you are up to date with all the videos I publish about music production.
I started out making music in my bedroom. I set up a table and chair and flipped the bed of my brother vertically to get more space to make music. My mother was furious. I improved my home studio with the means that I had at the time which were not many. I put together a bunch of old speakers and headphones and started with what I had. 4 years later, and now I have my entire living room dedicated to my studio. Still not perfect but I managed to perform acoustic treatment and significantly improve the sound of my room and I also have enough equipment to make the music I want. I am going to share with you my experience and hopefully help you make good decisions when creating or improving your home studio.

The Transient Processor - with examples [FL Studio]
Hi,
in this video, I'm going to show you how the transient processor works and show you one example of how to use it to make your drums sound better and another example to remove extra reverb from a drum loop.
My name is Tiago Duarte and welcome to Daily Beats where I teach you how to master the software so that is just you and music. If you are new to the channel, subscribe and activate the notifications so that you stay up to date with all the videos I do about music production to help you become a better producer faster.
Let’s start with the topic of this video. The Transient Processor is a dynamics processing plugin. This type of plugin can also be called a Transient Designer or Transient Shaper. So what is a transient processor? A transient processor allows you to add or cut the attack of a sound and to add or cut the sustain level of the sound. You can imagine it like an ADRS controller as you have in synths. The transient processor is threshold-independent, so it's perfect for dynamic sounds like drums and percussion. These types of plugins are very dependent on the audio they are receiving. They only work on transients so there must be transients present in the audio for the plugin to react to. The plugin will not work as intended with sounds like pads for example.

How To Tune Vocals in FL Studio Like a Pro
Hi, in this video I'm going to show you how to tune vocals in FL Studio like a pro. I'm going to record a simple melody with my really out-of-tune voice over a piano chord progression and then show you how to tune that recording to sound really nice. After that, at the end of the video, I'm going to show you a real example of a vocal that I tuned for a rapper friend of mine while doing a remix of his song.
My name is Tiago Duarte and welcome to Daily Beats where I teach you how to master the software so that is just you and music. If you are new to the channel, subscribe and activate the notifications so that you stay up to date with all the videos I do about music production to help you become a better producer faster.
With today's technology is totally possible to make a bad singer sound good and today I'm showing you how it's done.
The first plugin I used to correct the pitch of audio was Melodyne. This was way back in the days and I felt overwhelmed with the complexity of the plugin so much that I stayed away from a similar type of plugin for years. But knowing when to use it and how to use it correctly can make a big difference in your productions. The plugin that is available to us in FL Studio for pitch correction is called Newtone.
