PART TWO - 500 Days: Lost Storylines of the 2001 Daytona 500 (NASCAR Documentary)
In this second part of “500 Days,” the cars and stars of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series arrive in Daytona to prepare for the “Great American Race.” Awaiting them is the most aggressive aerodynamic package that NASCAR has yet conceived, bringing a mix of slingshots and pack racing to the sport’s biggest race.
Included are highlights of the week’s preliminary events at Daytona, featuring the practice and qualifying sessions for the Winston Cup Series televised by their new broadcast partner FOX Sports.

PART ONE - 500 Days: Lost Storylines of the 2001 Daytona 500 (NASCAR Documentary)
As the 1999 NASCAR Winston Cup Series season draws to a close, Ray Evernham unexpectedly ends his tenure as Jeff Gordon’s crew chief. Evernham’s new ambition – bringing Dodge back to NASCAR’s top series – singlehandedly alters the trajectory of the 2000 season, which becomes a year of tremendous change.
This first part of “500 Days” provides a month-by-month chronicle of "silly season," the series of driver and team changes leading up to the 2001 Daytona 500.

Front Row Motorsports Unboxing! (Big thanks to John D.)
Last week as I was packing up after completing my trackside coverage at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, I discovered Front Row Motorsports had left behind the pit road banner for Todd Gilliland's No. 38 team. LASTBRO and I decided to save it, and we reached out to the team so we could get it back to them. John at the team was so thankful we reached out to them, and right away asked what our shirt sizes were. Both of us are absolutely floored by what they sent.
Let's take a look---

The Story of Neil “Soapy” Castles (1934-2022)
The NASCAR in which Neil “Soapy” Castles raced was far different from today. In an age where factory teams dominated the sport, secondhand equipment was good enough to compete for race wins – and even championships. An inventor and part-time stuntman who once doubled for Elvis, Soapy was perhaps the most clutch qualifier of his era, dominating the consolation races that once rounded out Cup Series fields. And like many independent drivers who followed, Soapy earned an opportunity in top-flight equipment – one which ended much too soon.
