Jesus told us specific signs to look for before His return and they will occur exactly how and when He said. The final event, which is actually the final sign of His Second Coming, is the repentance of Israel and their reception of Jesus as Messiah - whom as a nation they have rejected for nearly 2000 years. At very moment when they are about to be completely wiped out by the armies of the Antichrist, they call on Him to save them and repent of their unbelief. And He does! On, the mercy of God! As Isaiah prophesied, He will wash and rinse away their sin of shedding His Blood . . What God is going to do with Israel in the End is what He has already made available for us now. It was The Father's love for men who had sinned that required Christ die in our place, for the pay for sin is death. Nobody involved in crucifying Jesus will get any credit for doing so, because they did it for their own wrong purposes. Yes, it was the Jews who pierced Him – by the hand of the Romans. Scripture says this. The Romans were the gun, the Jews pulled the trigger. But when Jesus comes again (not dead at all) Israel will have repented of their unbelief, having called on Jesus as Messiah. God is so merciful He will then deliver the nation of Israel and destroy all their enemies . . Jesus detailed for us signs and events leading up to His Second Coming. The events of the Mid-Tribulation are some of the last sign-posts before Jesus' Return in power and glory at the end of the Great Tribulation. When we put His words together with the prophet Daniel and the book of Revelation, we find the Bible to be so comprehensive and consistent, only God could have inspired it. That's a big part of why Prophecy is given in the Bible - because only the One True God could dictate the future to us with such accuracy. No hocus-pocus going on here. In the Olivet Discourse Jesus answered 3 specific questions from His disciples about the Last Days. Just because the Signs of Jesus coming back are all around us does not mean everyone will be expecting Him to come back.
