I notice with some of these messages, y'all act like I did a godly act or parted the red sea. No. I just grew my YouTube channels. (And remember, I'm just starting my journey, chill out....). Nobody wants to be there at the beginning of your journey, but everyone wants a piece when you make a breakthrough. This is a huge secret: Creatives: Don't listen to limiting beliefs, and get used to being disliked and misunderstood. Non-creatives: Stop putting your negative beliefs on people because they are doing something or living a life you don't understand. Going silent is not support, & on some level you want to see them fail because they are going for their dream. I didn't listen to anyone who messaged me from my past telling me that "you can't" do it. And now the messages are hella different. 722 messages are ridiculous, especially bc I've been off your radar this whole time. Here's the thing, you do not need me or my 'reels' or advice. You could figure out Youtube or anything on your own just fine. Don't kiss my butt, or pretend I'm some famous person lol. I'm not a guru or sage. I've been called the nicest things since my "breakthrough". I'm the same Alesha you've always known. I just had the guts to go for it. I'm very chill. Instead of being sorry for words that you actually meant to say to me. Find someone who is a creative, artist, musician, entrepreneur, etc & back them. Leave your opinion out of it. Instead of supporting a celebrity you don't know, pick a local, a black business, poc business, someone you know trying to do something. If you like their product, BUY it. Instead of telling your actor friend that their job isn't legitimate, share their projects everytime they get booked (& they don't even have to know you are doing it). Bc if & WHEN that person becomes successful on some level, eating your words & having the mirror reflected back on you ain't so pretty. Just bc you can't see yourself making money with a creative venture, doesn't mean it applies to someone else. Be better than this & keep your opinions to yourself. The coldest lesson I learned that no one really was down for me like I thought at the time(s). It's easier for me to be and stay a lone wolf. Are you brave enough to let things go that no longer serve you? For me personally this was very difficult. And it hurt like hell. One of the reasons why I didnt go with IU originally because so many of my family was there and being the only child, I'm used to and usually take my own path. But after my experiences I'm like you know what, rooting for IU isn't bad at all. It's been an adjustment and hasn't been easy, especially when you're thinking that you're going to identify one way your whole life. Cognitive Dissonance. (Mom ain't happy with it but she will get over it. Here's to being called the traitor word, love ya mom. We can joke like that.) Boilermaker friends I love you but this has been a long time coming. It hasn't worked for a long time, I would be stupid af to keep pretending & fronting appearances. It was made clear to me on many different levels that I didn't matter too many times throughout the years. If you do come on over to the Bloomington side sometime, they are a lot of fun, and I'll be that Hoosier buddy for you.. They are wild, enthusiastic. And friendly to strangers. The ones I run into at basketball games struck up a random conversation. I'm like I'm a new stranger, and they treat me like I've been a Hoosier for years. When my first group of friends passed, I went to Chicago & Bloomington. There's something about spending time and living other places for a bit when the unthinkable happens that's refreshing and healing. I'm very good at hiding things and the people I was with had no earthly idea how much pain I was in and the weight I carry. Thank you Chicagoans and Hoosiers for always being nice, here lately I've been closed off (don't take it personally. December has been a month these past few years when a lot of people in my life passed. I like y'all, but I like being quiet too.) I don't care about what others care about. I don't want what other people want. I don't care about a new car, I wish I had my friends and loved ones that passed back. And I'm on no one's timeline. My biggest thing is you don't want to live your existence on this earth in a negative vibration. Or living to impress other people. I was very unhappy for many years because I followed the life script. I said goodbye to things that crushed my soul, and said hello to things and places that brought me joy. Some things went down that ultimately changed how I saw life. Let's keep that short & simple. I was determined to make it being a entrepreneur/Youtuber/etc. B/c I knew I'm going to go down this path less traveled. It's my path. It's interesting. Listening to well intentioned advice as a teen led me down a path that's no longer for me, & I realized it in my early 20s. Some of my mom's friends think I'll be good at jobs, but no thanks! My experiences at my schools jaded the normal path for me. I'll let them talk shit about me to each other & let them shoot the breeze at my expense. Love ya though. It's not the first or last time people will talk about me & I'm cool w/ it. Remember people wouldn't talk about or bother you if you were nothing. (& in some sense, people being jealous of you means you are going places in life. The celebrities you know & people who are successful didn't fit in w/ others, they stand out. Look at how many haters your favorite celebrities have & consider yourself going in the right direction). The result from those school experiences was developing skills & mindsets that's not obvious & I don't talk about it (the list is still growing as I write this).Then I was like Universe, gimme a sign's more about developing skills, & letting the successes speak for itself. Learn to talk less & make more moves. (Mindset) Success secret #4. It's too easy to take the crab in the barrel mentality route & drag someone down b/c you're down. Could you clap for others even if their successes comes before you? Can you turn someone on to an opportunity without the fear of them getting ahead of you? Can you root for someone's successes like it's your own, even if it means they get theirs before you get yours?...Can you clap for someone else until your time comes if called to do so? I bring this up because I apply this a lot. I'm at the start of my journey. Sometimes it's a matter of finding your people where you can really blossom. (They are not worried about my Youtube channel over here, they got their own...their grass is greener, but I'm happy I got my own yard too. You can be happy for others, and still be a light in your own right at the same time. Take a lesson from Kelly Rowland and Miss Nigeria.) It can be done, but you can learn mindsets to not get intimidated by someone' successes, but to propel you to grow as a person. People in our age group? We compare and compete with each other too much. It's ridiculous. The time you spend trying to keep up with the Joneses could be time you could spend growing as a person. The question is which path are you going to choose? Being jealous or hating on someone is not going to serve you. Can you reframe your mindset to see someone's successes as an opportunity to learn and grow, to see how far you can get in your breakthrough? Instead of seeing someone's success as someone taking away from you (because trust me, no one is taking from you...they put in the work that most won't to live a life most don't). Maybe you secretly wish you could do the same things, or maybe you feel like they got theirs, and you haven't gotten yours, and it's being thrown up in your face. Remember to not compare your day 1 to someone else's day 400. You never know what someone went through to get where they are today. If you can't be happy for someone, unpack and figure out why. Maybe their successes put a spotlight on your biggest insecurities....I will tell you, gossiping about someone, cutting someone, or talking negatively about someone who you think got ahead of you won't do it. Building your skills, finding your lane, finding your own talents, addressing those jealousies and insecurities and having blind faith will. What's blind faith? Blind faith is believing you will be successful, even if it hasn't happened in real life, you have to learn how to believe in what you can't see. I was called all kinds of names by my peers, but it's not so crazy now that it's happening in real life, correct? No matter how "delusional" your dreams sound, even to your loved ones, go for it. (I shudder to think where I would be if i listened to all that, let it go in one ear out the other, and let the successes speak for itself).
