AL-HUSSEIN: “The first part of the question on the issue of refugees coming to Jordan, and I think I can quite strongly speak on behalf of not only of Jordan as a nation, but of our friends in Egypt, that is a red line because I think that is the plan by certain of the usual suspects to try and create de facto issues on the ground. No refugees in Jordan, no refugees in Egypt.”

>>HALEY: "I dealt with this at the United Nations. You’re going to hear all of those Arab countries vilify Israel for what’s about to happen. You’re going to hear all of them say, how dare you not do more for the Palestinian people? And you know what? We should care about the Palestinian citizens, especially the innocent ones, because they didn’t ask for this. But where are the Arab countries? Where are they? Where is Qatar? Where is Lebanon? Where is Jordan? Where is Egypt? Do you know we give Egypt over a billion dollars a year? Why aren’t they opening the gates? Why aren’t they taking the Palestinians? You know why? Because they know they can’t vet them, and they don’t want Hamas in their neighborhood. So why would Israel want them in their neighborhood? So let’s be honest with what’s going on. The Arab countries aren’t doing anything to help the Palestinians because they don’t trust who is right, who is good, who is evil, and they don’t want it in their country. So they’re going to come and blame America. They’re going to come and blame Israel. And don’t fall for it, because they have the ability to fix all of this if they wanted to. They have the ability to go in and tell Hamas right now to stop what they’re doing. They have the ability to tell Hamas to let those people out. But you know what? Qatar is going to continue to work with Hamas and their leadership. Iran is going to continue to fund all of this and not say anything. And who’s silent? Every one of those Arab countries are going to be silent. But expect for the finger to point to Israel, and the finger is going to point to Israel — to America.”

Blinken: “Tragically, the number of innocent lives claimed by Hamas’ heinous attacks continues to rise. Among those we now know that at least 25 American citizens were killed. We join families in Israel, in the United States, around the world in mourning their immeasurable loss.”

Biden: “I never really thought that I would see, have confirmed pictures of terrorists beheading children. I never thought I’d ever— anyway, but there are countries in the region that are trying to be of some help, including Arab nations. They’re trying to be of some help. So anyway.”

MITCHELL: “We now have the the mother back on — back on with us. We were going to ask you about what you’re saying to your boys. You were trying to keep them calm. Tell us about that conversation.” Israeli MOTHER: “Yeah, I was on the phone with them and trying to calm them down, saying, you know, the military is going to get there and safe and they’re in their home. This is what we always tell them. And then at approximately half past 8, they started hearing voices of the door breaking. They were with me on the phone, and I asked them to be quiet, to stay quiet. They were in a safe room, which is a bedroom of the eldest, who is 16, as I said, and about 10 minutes later I could hear people speaking in Arabic outside their door when they broke in, and the last thing I heard was the youngest, who is 12, saying, ‘I’m too young, don’t take me.’ And that was it. That was the last time I heard from them.” MITCHELL: “I am so sorry. We’re all thinking about you. Have you heard anything from the government?” Israeli MOTHER: “No, unfortunately, not yet. Well, the army is now getting in touch with families I know, and I’m keeping my hopes up that they’re alive and well. I know that their father and his spouse were taken also because we’ve seen one of the videos that Hamas put on, so we know that they’re alive, and I’m hoping that they’re with them. And as they took hundreds of children, babies, women and elderly people, some of them from the place I live in, I’m hopeful that they’re all together and that they have other people that they know around them to keep them safe and to give them a hug, and just come back home.” MITCHELL: “You know, I’m sure you want them to be with people they know so they’re not alone there. But what are your feelings about the attacks against Gaza right now? How can the government — “ Israeli MOTHER: “You’re looking for a symmetrical situation, and I must say, it isn’t. If you were dealing with of a war who is between two countries, countries don’t take children hostages, I’m sorry. It’s against the laws of war. It’s against humanity. It’s against anything that we all believe in. Every time we had missiles shot at us, I used to say to my children that they should be sympathetic towards the children of Gaza because they suffer a lot more than they do. I’m not sure I still believe in it now. And I must say, the only worry I have now from the bombings in Gaza is the fact that my children are there. And I can’t be sympathetic anymore. I can’t be sympathetic to animal human beings — well, they’re, not really human beings — who came into my house, broke everything, stole everything, took my children from their patrons, and took them to the Gaza Strip. Israel never done that and it will never do. So, there is no symmetry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for being so emotional.” MITCHELL: “Do you want the government to put the the top priority on getting the hostages out before they retaliate?” Israeli MOTHER: “I want my government to put it on the first priority and I want the world to put it on the first priority. I think any mother in the world should try and imagine her children in that situation and then think again. That’s all I want. I want the world to ask them to release children, to release elderlies, to release the civilians they took. There is no reason to hold them there. They are not soldiers. They are not part of the war and they have nothing to do with it. We gave them work permits. We really believed that this was the way to move their economy, to reconnect these two so-called countries. This is not the way a country behaves. This is a way that a terror organization behaves. I’m sorry. So, again, there’s no symmetry.” MITCHELL: “And again, you have not heard from the government since Saturday when this horrific thing happened?” Israeli MOTHER: “As I said, I have been contacted, but they haven’t had any news for me. They just wanted to know what I know and to get my information. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no news. They have been contacted, but there’s no news. Obviously, there’s lots for the government in Israel to — to learn from this situation, but I’m not focused on that. I’m focused on the world helping to release my children and the other hundreds of civilians held hostage in the Gaza Strip. That’s all I’m focused on. There will be time to rethink. There will be time to learn. There will be time to make conclusions. It’s not now.” MITCHELL: “That is completely understandable. We can’t can’t even imagine your agony. At least, you know, you are getting your message out, and I know that’s why you’re doing this. You want the world to know what is happening to your beloved children.” Israeli MOTHER: “Yes, thank you very much for giving me the opportunity.” MITCHELL: “Thank you. And wishing you — our prayers and our hearts are with you.” Israeli MOTHER: “Thank you so much.” MITCHELL: “Thank you for sharing your grief with us, your agony. And we’ll have more. We’ll be right back.”

Reporter: “Do you think Democrats are unified in their message that Israel has a right to defend itself? A couple of your colleagues have called for a ceasefire, called for de-escalation, referred to Israel as an apartheid state. Do you think Democrats are unified in their support for Israel?” RASKIN: “Yeah, we’re absolutely unified behind Israel’s right to exist and Israel’s right to defend itself. And we’ll be standing strong with Israel.” Reporter: “What do you make of the comments from your colleagues that — that sort of indicate otherwise?” RASKIN: “Well, I just — I haven’t seen any of those. And all that I’ve heard is a very powerful consensus that we need to stand by Israel as it defends itself.”

What can America learn from the horrific attacks on Israel by Hamas? That our agencies need to be focused on what the agency is supposed to be focused on. We now know that American citizens are among those being held by Hamas. It is clear that Israeli intelligence failed to notice the massive amount of missiles being built in Gaza, as well as the movement to bring thousands of Hamas terrorists into Israel. How did this happen? KIRBY: “Our Israeli counterparts just a day or so ago said the same thing that we are saying. We haven’t seen any direct evidence that Iran participated in these particular attacks. Now, we do know, of course, there is a degree of complicity here, Poppy, because they have been supporting Hamas for years, tools, training, resourcing, certainly rhetorical support in just the last 24 hours. But no specific evidence that they were participating in this, resourcing this, planning these series of attacks.”

And why it’s so important that you’re hearing today with the reverend Sharpton. >> GREENBLATT: Well, so I will be honest, maybe a little more vulnerable than I have been, this is one of the hardest days of my adult life. I don’t ever remember a moment like this. I have family in Israel right now under siege, being deployed to the front lines. I have staff who can’t locate their family. I have friends who are gone. And I think ambassador danon put it well in the context that Americans can understand, 9/11, the evil that was perpetrated here. But the scale, Jonathan, the right comparison is nagasaki. This was like an atomic bomb. And as 40,000 people are killed in Japan, when they dropped that bomb in nagasaki, so, too, were the hundreds and hundreds upon hundreds of people who were killed in Israel. So, while I am sad and trying to corner I’ll be honest, I am angry. I am angry with the world that allowed the dehumanization of Israelis and sanitized the terrorism of Hamas. I must say, I love this show, and I love this network. But I’ve got to ask, who’s writing the scripts? Hamas, the people who did this, they are not fighters, Jonathan. They are not militants. I’m looking right at the camera, they are terrorists. It is a barbarian who rapes and brutalizes women. Who kills children in front of their parents. And then brings them over to Gaza. Who literally — we’ve heard all of these reports. And we know these aren’t just reports. These were filmed gleefully by the barbarians who committed these grotesque crimes. They filmed, for example, an elderly woman in her home in one of these towns, they burned her alive in her house because she was too infirm to take out. Parading woman, bleeding from the crotch because they were raped while people hoot and holler and cheer. So while they say this is an escalation, it was bound to happen, I’m sorry, this was a massacre that was pre-planned. It was not destined to happen. It is not normal to shoot teenagers in the back, hundreds of them. I just think, guys, get the story right. All of these pictures of like, you know, missiles or the rubble in Gaza, please talk to the Israeli mothers and fathers. Who lost their children, talk to the grandchildren whose grandparents were seized as hostages. And please stop calling this a retaliation. This is a defensive measure against an organization that is committed to one thing- Killing Jews. Not a peaceful resolution of a conflict. But murdering Jews. And if you’re wondering if I’m exaggerating, please, I beg of you, everyone watching and everyone at this network- Just watch the footage.

You can see there’s vehicles all around here that have been shot up. We see the bodies of at least one, two Hamas fighters. I think there are more down this way.” WARD (voice-over): “Many of the victims spent hours in hiding, waiting to be rescued and calling their loved ones.” WARD: “Many of them are still missing. Many of them are dead. It’s been very difficult to try to get a precise number.” WARD (voice-over): “Now, a volunteer group that handles human remains says that at least 260 bodies have been found at the festival site. The government here took a bold step releasing an image of scores of body bags in a tent where investigators were tasked with identifying them.” WARD: “So you can see over here, the body of at least one other person. I don’t think you want to get too close to it. It’s pretty graphic.” WARD (voice-over): “Active fighting continued along this stretch of the border throughout the day as Israeli military forces poured in.” WARD: “So, we’re seeing a bunch of tanks being brought down this way, and I’m also hearing a steady stream of booms, apparently rockets landing in the distance in that direction, and certainly a feeling that people are on high alert. We tried to push further down that way, we were told in no uncertain terms we needed to turn around.”
