Love Compartment Number 9-420-7-L
In reality, do compartment numbers really matter in your stories?
Probably not.
Will absolute nerds absolutely love it if you include them in a reasonable fashion?
Absolutely.

Maybe this "Santa Claus" entity is one of those super-programs in the Matrix?
And the VERY BEST PART of this entire Santa Claus mishegoss? Your North American Aerospace Defense Command actually TRACKS HIM. Real-time. All night.
They know where this creepy dude creeping out on your kids and violating your space-time continuum is AT ALL TIMES, and they do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it.
What.
The.
Hell.

Wasn't Arquitens one of the Three Musketeers or something?
It is quite interesting how the Arquitens does show something of a stylistic development from the Venator. Or, at least, the same designer was involved with both, which might or might not speak well about the Arquitens.
Anywise, it seems to work pretty well, despite coming out of Kuat Drive Yards, and had some pretty interesting features.
Apparently the last image came from https://www.deviantart.com/vectorek

I like Long Toms and I cannot lie? Long Toms make the world go 'round? Hm.
After the success of our second ball episode concerning the Union dropship from Battletech, you just know I had to loop back around to the 'verse.
And just to be That Guy, I /had/ to talk about /anything/ other than the mechs. Sarna post here: https://www.sarna.net/news/your-battletech-news-roundup-for-november-2021/
And, yes, to the neckbeards out there, I'm well aware that I was skipping past a LOT of German big guns, and possibly even a generation or two, and definitely some offshoots and side developments and stuff like that. WE ONLY HAVE SO MUCH TIME HERE.

Drop Pods, or how to throw yourself at the ground and hit. Really hard.
Hey, we have a podcast now! Well, really, it's just the audio from episodes, so I guess that counts. It will be published at the same time as the YouTube video, and be exactly the same content, just... on more platforms, I guess? That said, since it does involve additional work for me, it will be a subscription-only feature, at $0.99 a month here: https://anchor.fm/sacred-cow-shipyards/subscribe
Well, I never promised there wasn't going to be ANY math, but...
Anywise, drop pods are a wonderful examination into just how badly some organics want to kill other organics - they're literally willing to throw themselves at a planet with barely any protection at all, just to be able to kill other organics faster.
Craziness.

WELCOME to Sacred Cow Shipyards, where... well, just listen to the Big man. He knows what's up. https://youtu.be/ZACKWTJWMZM
I have to admit, this might be the hardest I've laughed at anything ever done by one of you humies, and y'all do some high-larious stuff from time to time. @Big Man Tyrone brings a certain je ne sais quois to his amazing performances, and I am here for all of it.

How to cheat at depth perception and toasters. Or something. I dunno. Your Naval Academy is weird.
First up, Steamachest and their art are available here: https://twitter.com/steamachest and here: https://www.deviantart.com/steamachest . I'd recommend giving them a follow, just because the cubification minions might take it personal-like if you don't. Inasmuch as they /have/ a "personal" setting.
Second, none of the stories I recount are true. Or, at least, I was told to say that by one of the very-snazzily-dressed humies I encountered from your NASA... or was it NSA? I always get them confused. There is no contraband at the United States Naval Academy, and no one has ever cheated to gain entrance. Just like officers' commissions were NEVER previously purchased for other country's militaries. Nope.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - y'all humies be weird.

The truth is most "science fiction" movies should have the audience as Passengers in the universe
Y'all know I love me some Moon.
It's my most favorite movie ever, and thereby, by definition, my most favorite science fiction movie ever.
This ain't no Moon.
This is... an interesting study of what humies do under EXTREME stress and how AIs attempt to manage that.
But... well... that's... well... almost exactly the same.
Hm.

No, those wings in Star Wars are not radiators, and even if they were, they're horrible at their job
And here we are, a year into me doing this nonsense.
Thanks to all of y'all who stuck with me from the beginning.
And also thanks to all of y'all who showed up courtesy of The Algorithm. I still have no idea what I did to please it, but here we are, and here you are, and, well, that's awesome.
So, hey, thanks to all of you for making... whatever this is into... whatever it has become. I have no idea at this point, I'm just along for the ride.
As for the retcon explanation that the wings in Star Wars are radiators, the answer is simply, "No."
And I didn't even get into how actual radiators radiate their energy orthogonal to their surface, so the X-Wing would literally be radiating its heat into another wing for half of its radiator surface. So opening the S-Foils does NOTHING for the X-Wing. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
And, NO, I am not even going to BEGIN to address the inherently NONSENSE notion that Star Wars is an "aether"-based universe.
That entire concept is cordially invited to autofornicate.
If that were even remotely approximate to being true, the X-Wing would have maneuvering flaps/vanes on its wings, and GUESS WHAT IT DOESN'T HAVE?
So no.
Y'all want to retcon more nonsense into a nonsense 'verse to make it even more nonsensical, that's on you.
We don't play those games.
In fact, I may just ignore comments for this whole thing, since I can ALREADY feel a great disturbance in the neckbeards, as if a million scruff follicles all took offense at once and cried out.
Also, I might or might not be taking a few weeks off, what with this being the year anniversary and all. It depends on whether I was able to pre-record enough episodes or not.

Donate to Toys for Tots: https://www.toysfortots.org/donate/Default.aspx

Or the USO, who are some of the most awesome people you will ever have the privilege of meeting: https://secure.uso.org/OM_BRD/
Or, y'know, get involved in your community. Run for dog catcher or street sweeper or whatever position is available.
ENGAGE in the world around you.
The worst that could happen is you could make it a little better.

I suppose the Union of the two ball-type craft we've talked about would require a joystick
I couldn't just have one episode about balls, could I? That'd be asymmetric, and we wouldn't want that. Or I understand squishies don't want that. Or something. I dunno. It's not something I have to worry about.
Anywise, balls. And, in fact, balls having little things inside of them. Make up your own jokes, because I'm honestly too tired.
Yeah, I was still playing around with audio in this episode. It'll go away next episode, and probably be finalized by the one after that.
Also, the episode after this one is my one-year anniversary of rambling on for your entertainment. I would say, "Enjoy it," but you won't. So whatever.
Also, http://www.sacredcowshipyards.com now exists. All it does is redirect to the YouTube channel, but maybe that's easier for your wormy little fingers to type? Dunno.

I am astonished that there wasn't a model w/a pair RB-79 Balls stuck together w/a megacannon on top
This is yet another case of, "No, I haven't watched the source material, I have no idea what I'm talking about, and what the ever [deleted] is this [deleted] thing that showed up on my [deleted] dock for [deleted] sake."
(For clarification, the source material is the Gundam-verse, though I'll be damned if I know which particular series / episodes / aspects / etc.)
Because, seriously, what /is/ it with you humans and your balls? I mean, I get that genital-related jokes are a thing, whether we're talking about human balls or Centauri tentacles, but... holy hell. Could you be a /little/ less... well... OBVIOUS about it?

It helps that they gave the Nova-class Dreadnoughts such appropriate names
(I'll let the whiners in on a little secret: until I discovered the whole "chapters" thing that YouTube does, I left the SCS logo up until I got to the meat and potatoes of the episode. So if you don't want to hear me rambling, just skip forward until the logo goes away. See how hard that isn't?)
I mean, seriously. The EAS Schwarzkopf? Naming it after Stormin' Norman? Someone was on the ball when they were naming a ship that was just pure, "Shoot everything in sight while charging forward as hard as possible."
Don't get me wrong - the Nova-class definitely has its shortcomings, chief among which is that it's a Younger Race ship, and therefore lacking in almost all creature comforts and most defensive systems that are worth a damn. But what it lacks in style it more than makes up for with MOAR DAKKA.

My AAT brings all the droids to the yard, and they're like, this thing sucks.
Ok, since folks have asked, the Patreon is here: https://www.patreon.com/sacredcowshipyards
I have no idea if I'll actually be allowed to post that link in the video, so, hey, there it is.
Also, this has been a REEEEEDONKULOUS week. I have no idea what's going on. It's crazy. It's certain definitions of "fun". And here we are.
Also-also, AATs suck.
But, hey, as the video indicates, apparently this channel is monetizable now. Or something.
The TL;DR version of this is that I might make a few dimes off you humies watching me trashing you. And I'm ok with that.
The slightly longer version is that, hey, you know those YouTube channels that make you watch unskippable ads before you watch their content?
Yeah, that's a choice they made.
They could have avoided inflicting unskippable ads on you - as I've done - but they didn't.

Where I talk of many things, of B5 and Heighliners, of Shuttles and Ornithopters

And Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/sacredcowshipyards

You might notice that I'm massively less unhappy about Dune being resurrected than I am B5 doing the same. That's because all of the previous attempts at the former have been... various degrees of glorious failures, so there's still the chance for someone to do something right.
Personally, I'd love to see the six-hour supercut that Jason Momoa was talking about a few weeks ago.

It'd be a lot more cool if the Pelican scooped up its squishes in its maw
Since I haven't done so in a while, I'd like to remind everyone that we do have a Patreon thingamajig for this channel: https://www.patreon.com/sacredcowshipyards
To be honest, the Pelican isn't /that/ bad of a transport, especially if it spends most of its time in-atmo. But it's unnecessarily complex with both rotational engines /and/ bypass thrusters, and its cargo-handling skillz are... questionable, at best.
Still, it technically gets the job done, and with a little bit of style, so it's hard to argue with that in total.

Finally, something that pays attention to physics in the Expanse of your science fiction shows
Sure, the show played a little fast-and-loose with a few things, and, sure, the books might be better. But the fact remains that The Expanse is probably the hardest science fiction show ever produced, and certainly the hardest one still airing today.
Credit to Amazon to actually taking the time to film and produce it right.

Y'all know Prometheus didn't go out in a blaze of glory, right?
It's rare that the quality of ships in a movie and the quality of the movie they're in are so radically different, and that's probably for the best.
But boy does Prometheus set that bar.

I'm going to Ha'tak my ire out on this thing
I mean, let's face it. None of the Goa'uld tech was particularly... good. They got by through terror and subjugation and keeping their slaves technologically stunted. Yes, yes, yes, the staff cannons are terrifyingly powerful... and ridiculously inaccurate, which, I guess, only makes them /more/ terrifying in terms of "collateral damage".
And, really, the inaccuracy makes a /lot/ of sense when you step back and consider that most combat between Goa'uld System Lords was largely symbolic, and no one involved wanted to lose any more jaffa than was strictly necessary to keep the rest in line and open up promotion slots for them.

I'm going to use the Slave I debacle to sneak some education into you
Well, I /had/ been trying to avoid bringing down the ire of The Mouse, but I guess that's all out the window now.
The Slave I will always be the Slave I.
Yes, it's part of the Firespray class. We know that.
No, Jango (yes, I said Boba a lot - I'm old) wouldn't have bought/acquired/come by a first-of-its-class ship. Those are notoriously cranky things, and tend to have massively fewer features and upgrades than the later classes, as the designers suddenly realize what they did wrong and try to improve on it as they go.
I mean, not to go for the obvious example, but there's a reason the Enterprise Class - for your modern wet-navy, not those authoritarian prats flying about space - is only... one ship deep.

I can't even with this thing.
I don't know where to start. I don't know where to go. And I don't know what the [deleted] that ridiculous thing even /is/.
This is really one of the very few cases where making the ship organic would have improved the story/explanation significantly, although I guess having Borg tech integrated into it makes it semi-organic. Organic-ish. Organic like.

The problem with the Matrix going with "APU" as the acronym is there's SO MANY expansions of it
For example, my own personal experience would point me at the Auxiliary Propulsion Unit.
But I guess that doesn't fit the context.
Of course, this absolute abomination doesn't really /work/, so I guess the acronym being all jacked up fits the vehicle.
